Have dabbled in various wl chats before but starting my own thread for accountability - would love some people to join me!

Weighed in yesterday at the heaviest I've ever been excluding pregnancy - 59.6kg 😓 In all honesty I shouldn't be shocked, my diet has been crap, but I'm just so disappointed in myself for letting it slide up so much (I was 56kg in May).

Anyway! Trying to stay positive and focus on the changes I will be making. Luckily I have lots to motivate me: a big birthday in late September that I want to be healthier for, and a very fancy wedding in October that is basically a college reunion so I want to look my best!

Plan is to seriously overhaul my diet (started yesterday), I already exercise a fair bit but will up the walking.

Not sure yet how often I'll weigh in but for posterity:

SW: 59.6
TW: 52ish

Edit to add that I am very short I'm case that's not clear!

Hello! Can I join in too please? I want to get rid of 5-6kg.

CW 59kg (ish, will weigh tomorrow morning)
TW 53kg

Until I had kids, I was always around 54kg without having to think about it. Since having DS5 and DD2, I've struggled to maintain that weight. I don't think it's because I'm older, as I tend to lose weight quickly once I try, it's boredom eating/tiredness eating/evening wine and snacks. Also, my body has changed, so any extra weight sits on my stomach (saggy from DD, thanks for that my love) and feels really obvious and uncomfortable.

My plan is intermittent fasting, which has worked well for me in the past, no snacks, low sugar and try to cut down carbs a bit. I also haven't been jogging since May...so I might think about that too.

Will read through the thread later 🙂

Amayonaising · 16/08/2026 17:19

Welcome welcome @CocoaMoloko! It's hard with small kids, tiredness eating is a real thing.

I've done IF since 2017, I'm not a breakfast person so not eating until 1 or 2pm is no hardship. Of course, late night snacking has been my downfall all summer and my eating window had definitely stretched! Back on it strictly at the moment though, I do 18:6 or 16:8 depending on the day

CocoaMoloko · 16/08/2026 19:29

Thank you @Amayonaising ! I've just put DD to bed with a mild temperature (38.3), I have a feeling it might be a rough night...

Does anyone else feel like they have a weight were suddenly clothes start to feel uncomfortable/you notice your appearance has changed? I find that up to 58kg I'm not too uncomfortable, but as soon as I pass 58kg, my jeans are suddenly too tight. I must put the 58th kg all on my stomach 🫣

thisisajoke22 · 16/08/2026 19:30

Hey I'm joining! 10st 7 and want to get down to 9st 10 if possible. If I look too skinny I'll up it. 5ft 6 and avid weight lifter but been dicking around the past 3/4 months so need a kick up the ass. Have a wedding in October!

SaltySpitoon · 16/08/2026 19:50

Joining! Up until maybe 2 years ago I was always around 65kg. I'm 5'8 so that was perfect for me. However in January I was diagnosed with premature ovarian insufficiency (essentially very early perimenopause, I'm only 30!). I had a HRT review last week and was horrified to discover I am now 80kg 🙈 I knew I'd gained a bit of weight but not quite that much!

I guess some of it could attributed to the POI and hormones, but I will admit my diet is not the best. I do have quite an active job but don't really do any exercise outside of that. I have already made a couple of positive changes such as cutting down on alcohol and crisps (my weakness!). I don't really have a sweet tooth.

I'm also in quite a fortunate position that I work afternoons/evenings, and in September my youngest will be starting school, so I'll have several hours free in the morning to exercise/go to the gym/meal prep etc. My dream would be to be back at 65kg, but even 70kg I would be happy with.

dazedandblue · 16/08/2026 20:28

@CocoaMoloko yes! I'm currently in that stage, where my clothes still fit, but I'm so uncomfortable in them and they don't sit nicely anymore! And some of my clothes I've stopped wearing as they're anything by flattering at the moment!

Hope you get a quiet night tonight with DD

dazedandblue · 16/08/2026 20:32

Amayonaising · 16/08/2026 10:20

Oh well done @dazedandblue that's very motivating, you're about 5 weeks in aren't you?

Do you ever feel there's a certain amount you have to lose for it to be "real"? I get the fear I suppose that it's 'just' water weight, that I might be back at the start again tomorrow etc.

Ah thank you!!
I think the first 1-2kg was mostly water weight and then less food sitting in my gut (I was clearly massively over eating), but hoping for an average 0.5kg a week loss, though I guess it will start tapering soon as it loses momentum haha.

Yes, I've just completed week 5 or 6 - I need to check the calendar! Slow but steady.

No I'm with you, it's also why I do the daily weigh ins, as if I see I'm consistently hovering in area it must be real and not a weird lucky blip haha! It brings reassurance for sure.
How are you getting on?

dazedandblue · 16/08/2026 20:36

I have a mini gathering in Sept which I am hoping to look slimmer for, so it's my first mini-milestone. Then, we have a holiday booked for October half term which is my next proper milestone and I'm hoping I can be in the 54s (even if it's the high 54s). Also, I just want to be able to keep up with DS and do lots of fun stuff instead of either feeling self conscious of my weight gain or just a bit energy-less.

We have a bigger holiday booked for Easter next year so by then I'm hoping to have reached and maintained my target weight. Ahhhhh!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/08/2026 21:53

Weighed myself tonight. I’ve put on about half a stone! Is this possible on one weekend?

Amayonaising · 17/08/2026 01:13

Welcome @SaltySpitoon and @thisisajoke22 ! Good luck getting started, I still feel like it's very early days for me but I've definitely gotten into a better routine just 2 weeks in.

That sounds tough going being on HRT etc at such a young age, bloody hormones messing us all up 💐 Must be nice for men not to have to take all that into account when losing weight.

Yes @dazedandblue the daily weigh-ins were a good shout, thanks to you and all the others who suggested that for me. I'm enjoying the app tracking app and seeing the projected weight loss on that too, just hope I can keep it up! Nice to have lots of things to look forward to and hopefully keep you motivated.

I can't imagine you possibly could have!? Did you eat anything very salty maybe? Or your cycle?

This was tongue in cheek, but the talk of injections is everywhere. It's hardly possible to have a conversation about health or dieting without them being mentioned. I don't feel like I can relate to anybody anymore. Being concious of health, calories, exercise has been a lifelong grind for me and that's why I'm, and mostly always have been, in the healthy range (just higher in it than I want to be), but it's hard, and I'm quite often wondering if life would just be / have been much easier if I didn't have this grind and artificially supressed my appetite instead. I know I'm going against the grain here and apologies if I'm offending anyone!

Aah thanks. Yes I’m absolutely the same as you! Although after being very slim in my youth I’m struggling now.

Octovent · 17/08/2026 07:42

I've been quiet - I'm on holiday. Trying to find the balance! I'm eating out a lot, choosing wisely, but still very concious that I'm consuming lots. The restaurant healthy options are always what I'd consider very high cal meals if making at home. I'm at peace with doing damage but just trying to lessen the impact 😁

Thanks! Done it again this morning and I’m 1.5lb heavier so much relieved! Hoping I can get that off and possibly more before Saturday weigh in

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 17/08/2026 08:10

Weighed myself again after getting dressed as was in shorts and vest pj’s. It’s now saying 12st 3.5 which was my last slimming world weight so I’ve maintained. My bathroom floor is uneven but this was in 3 different areas. Think I just need to take that and move on!

Amayonaising · 17/08/2026 10:19

Well that's a relief @teaandtoastwithmarmite !

Hope you're enjoying the break @Octovent 🥰

I’ve downloaded happy scale app this morning after seeing it recommended on here. To those of you who use it, did you set the progress tracking to ‘moving average’?
I wasn’t sure which one to choose but think this probably makes the most sense to track the trends.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 17/08/2026 12:14

1lb up today, 164lbs. Par for the course after the weekend.

YourOnMute · 17/08/2026 12:19

May I join please?
I'm looking for support and motivation.
Quick background: I'm 5'3 but have always been heavy. I never looked heavy but weighed more than I look. I exercise a lot. Would go up and down weight occasionally, got through pregnancies with no weight issues, just kept on an even keel really.
During lockdown I couldn't exercise and I became ill, medication and no exercise meant I put on a lot of weight. I was 71kg before Covid. About 18 months ago I still had 10 kg to lose so I decided to go for it. I have lost 8kg but it has taken me that long. I lose weight incredibly slowly. I'm not someone who loses kilos regularly, I'm talking grammes per month and weeks where I do not lose at all. This can be very frustrating and demoralising.
It doesn't help that I know people who had a bit more than me to lose (I was obese but a size 14) and went on WLI and have lost more than me in 6 months and are now at their target. I'm glad for them but it does make me feel like a failure tbh.
I genuinely lose weight incredibly slowly.

Anyway,
SW 81
CW 71.7
GW 69.

I have the Libra app, which is the android equivalent. I have the 'use trend values' setting turned on and have the smoothing days and forecast days set to 7 so it uses a week of data to show your trend and projected loss (I think!)

I'll attach a screenshot here where you can see that even though my scale weight is 56.9 it shows my trend weight as 57.5

Hello everyone! With the apps do you put in everything you eat?

@dazedandblue I hate it as then I'm walking around in uncomfortable clothes thinking man why did I eat so many crisps again? Knowing it's going to be weeks of feeling hungry to get comfortable again.

I need to break the cycle, really!

God @YourOnMute that must be frustrating, well done for hanging in there! Sorry to hear you were poorly.

DD didn't sleep too badly, needed to be settled a couple of times...I woke up with a sore throat and runny nose so I wonder if she's fighting a cold.

I wonder if having a cold burns extra calories 😂

Official SW as of today 58.8kg
TW 53.5kg

YourOnMute · 17/08/2026 23:55

Thank you for the welcomes!
@CocoaMoloko I use Nutracheck and I track everything. I like it. Hope your cold improves!

I weigh lots of food at home so I know exactly what I eat. I had to be really strict to get any loss at all! If I have a celebration or a night out i have to write off the week, but I pick up again. I just cannot deviate at all!

Was working late so no gym but got a walk in at lunch.

PollysKenwood · 18/08/2026 00:37

Can I join? I don’t need to lose much
at all but the problem is that it’s creeping up in the wrong direction and could do with a bit of accountability. I need to be answerable mat the end of the day to something over than myself!

Target tomorrow is gym in the evening and no more than 2 squares of chocolate….
