Hey Everybody, Happy July!!

Here is our monthly thread for recording your daily steps, and having a chat along the way. Everyone is welcome, whatever your goal is and however you track it 😃

As always I am resetting and aiming for the 10k everyday - I am still yet to achieve this as life just be life-ing however this thread has been very motivational and encouraging so please join in, and lets get stepping 😁

11, 458 steps today.

Thank-you @Joolly2 , it hasn't peaked yet so still ongoing. It used to last weeks but lasts shorter period these days.

WorthySloth · 28/07/2026 13:19

14500 yesterday 😊 pleased with that

Clearingaspace · 28/07/2026 13:34

@Onegramatatime glasses arrive on Saturday, £70 - apparently it was essential to spend £40 on anti glare but I have now found out I could have got some with AG for about £15 from Amazon - dds think I was hoodwinked by the sales person. I might get a cheap spare set so I can put them on my head when shopping and pretend they are sunglasses. Talking of teen dd comments there is a thread on that topic with some funny stories https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/5556440-nothing-like-a-teenage-daughter-to-keep-you-humbled

well done on 11k @Joolly2

@10kstepsaday urgh I am not in the mood for yet another heatwave, thats crazy. The yellow grass everywhere is starting to get depressing now. I do have a beach summer dress that I haven’t gotten round to wearing because it has weird tie up straps (and we haven’t been to a beach!) so I guess I can at least try to wear that.

Great week @WorthySloth

I did 14600 yesterday and 11800 on Sunday

Nothing like a teenage daughter to keep you humbled… | Mumsnet

I leaned into the culottes and polka dot trend this season and was delighted with [[https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc148435473?cmpid=cpc...

10kstepsaday · 28/07/2026 22:34

@Clearingaspace it will soon be rainy and grey every day so definitely wear the summer wardrobe now 🤩

10.1k today 🙌🏻
Had 4 hours of driving today which usually makes it harder for me to hit the 10k. When I got home I did 40 mins of yoga stretches and then marched on the spot whilst watching love Island (don't judge 🤣)

What's everyone reading ATM? I just given up on Wuthering Heights. I wanted to read it before watching the film on Sky but I got quarter of the way through and I don't know who's who's and what's happening 😅 maybe too tired to get into it properly.

WorthySloth · 28/07/2026 22:39

Managed to hit 10k today 😊 planning on going on the treadmill tomorrow to try and boost my fitness and get extra steps in.

Joolly2 · 28/07/2026 23:29

Evening all, my total for today is 12,497 steps 🙂. Haven't stopped all day so going to reward myself with an early night.
@10kstepsaday I found a dog eared copy of a Tom Sharpe book, called Blott on the Landscape. I started to read it years ago but got distracted by something and never finished it. It is very funny, I'm really enjoying it. In 1985 it was on tv starring George Cole and David Suchet.
@Onegramatatime I've got my fingers crossed that you are over the worst now. I had no idea they could go on for so long. That must be so debilitating.

Onegramatatime · 29/07/2026 07:39

12,265 steps for me yesterday.

Thanks @Joolly2 , over the worst now. It really is debilitating, almost lost my job at one point (years back). Thank God for a very knowledgeable and supportive Occupational Health person.

Wishing everyone a lovely day.

WorthySloth · 29/07/2026 20:43

Ending today on 16300. Had a nice walk with my group this evening 😊

working the next 2 days so expecting lower steps but I will try my best to keep them up a bit.

Clearingaspace · 29/07/2026 21:14

@10kstepsaday i am a lapsed book worm - don’t think I have read anything since January. I keep buying 99p books ftom Amazon kindle so I should try to read one. I read WH as a teenager but don’t remember it well, I have yet to watch the new film but definitely will.

Some fab step counts everyone 😍

I was under 7000 yesterday - was just so tired that I had a nap instead of walking after work.

really struggling with diet at mo and rather than starting off well and failing again, I gave myself the day off, ate well and even had two gin and tonics this evening! It seems to have done the trick as I finally motivated myself to do a workout; 45 minutes madfit strength on YouTube and also took myself off for an evening walk to make it to over 10000

Midlifeshenanigans · 29/07/2026 21:42

You’re all doing amazing totals. I’m away do varying enormously depending what’s on the agenda

Monday 17,148
Tuesday 7060
Today 4944

i need a way to incorporate more steps into a low activity day. I do love to read but finding it difficult to focus on complicated plots at the moment so sticking to easy stuff without too many characters

10kstepsaday · 29/07/2026 21:44

Sounds like an interesting book @Joolly2

@ClearingaspaceI do go through phases with reading too! Yes I always like to read the book first before watching, but I just can't get on with it right now. My head is too scrambled tbh and I have been so so tired recently. Not sure what's going on!! I usually refused to DNF books!!

Today was too too hot again! Ready for autumn now ok!!!
Only 5.1K for me.

OP posts:
Joolly2 · 29/07/2026 22:36

Good evening all, I've finished the day on 11,691 steps, happy with that.
@Clearingaspace since the hot weather started my diet has been shocking. All the good work I had done on the vegetable front has gone to pot.
@10kstepsaday should we start a petition demanding Autumn starts now? I'd be up for it.
@WorthySloth you are seriously smashing the steps.
@Onegramatatime so pleased you recovering.
@Midlifeshenanigans Monday 17,148 that's serious steps, we'll done.

Onegramatatime · 30/07/2026 00:10

11,853 steps for me today.

Loving everyone's steps. We are doing good.🎉

@Joolly2 , could we hold off the petition just a bit? I am loving the heat (i know i am probably in the minority😁) and the heat is not bad currently especially if compared to few weeks ago.

@10kstepsaday , i am still reading The Retirement Plan by Sue Hincenbergs. I haven't been reading as much each day as i usually do. I have been reading about 1 or 2 pages but then going back and reading the same pages again. I have lost my focus a bit - not only with reading but with my steps, my strength training, my food, my water intake, my sleep, life admin etc

@Clearingaspace , i recently discovered madfit on YouTube. I do some the strength training videos too. You did a 45 min workout.. wow! That's great.

@Midlifeshenanigans , you did 17K steps!! Marvellous. Well done.

Joolly2 · 30/07/2026 21:43

Evening all, 11,069 steps today. Only managed because it's been so much cooler today 😃.

This evening we had a teaspoons full of rain, what's that all about, no good for anything. Just got my hopes up - cruel.

PeasePuddingPottage · 30/07/2026 21:59

Had to take the watch off so been less accurate but been walking loads! This my monthly report

July - 10k a day Club
10kstepsaday · 30/07/2026 22:22

Well done everyone!!
I took my watch off @ 10k today (about 6pm) as it was on its last % battery but I guestimate I finish around 11k as haven't stopped all evening!

@Onegramatatime I quite like Madfits workouts!

Last day of July - whattt!! The year is flying by.

OP posts:
WorthySloth · 30/07/2026 23:32

Managed to hit 10k steps today and on target to beat last months daily average 😊

well done everyone some amazing efforts on here!

Onegramatatime · 31/07/2026 01:12

10,474 steps for me today.

Teaspoons of rain😂😂😂😂, we got same here too.

Yeah, i am really liking madfit workouts too.

I am also a huge fan of Jillian Michaels 30-day shred. It really works for me each time i have gone on a weight loss journey and been committed to it.

One more day and July is done! That was fast. I have enjoyed being on this thread. Thank-you everyone.

Midlifeshenanigans · 31/07/2026 07:34

12,230 yesterday as we had a busy day but lots of driving today so not sure I’ll do many. I’m back to work next week so need to find a way of getting more steps in. My target for August is 50,000 a week with July looking like it’s going to be 42,000 a week. Thanks for your support everyone 🎉🎉🎉

WorthySloth · 31/07/2026 09:12

@Midlifeshenanigans I think it’s really good to look at increasing totals as a whole because that will gradually increase your daily steps as well. Plus we all have and need quiet days sometimes.

I’m on just under 4k steps for today so far. I am with a client who doesn’t walk loads and I’m sleeping in tonight so I’m not expecting to hit 10k today. However tomorrow I will be walking home then tailwalker at parkrun then walking back to work for a short shift then home again so I’ll probably make up for it 🤣🤣 plus give myself a good start for August 👍

Clearingaspace · 31/07/2026 10:41

Totally agree re focusing on increasing the monthly or weekly amount @Midlifeshenanigans and @WorthySloth thats my main aim too.

@Joolly2 teaspoons 😂 dh asked Alexa the weather last night and was informed ‘it’s raining right now’ so he expectantly flung open the back door, stood there for a few mins then muttered some expletives and shut the door, as there was literally no rain -,it’s so weird as the sky was really gloomy and promising 😂 lovely day today though!

@Onegramatatime i like JM too, but she’s too energetic for me right now - think I need to lose a few stone before my pelvic floor is assailed with JM jumping jacks…

well done @10kstepsaday and @PeasePuddingPottage

12879 yesterday

Onegramatatime · 31/07/2026 10:52

@Clearingaspace , those jumping jacks!! 😂😂😂. We are in the same camp. I have improvised. I either do a little jog round the sitting room & kitchen or squats/the squat boxing or any abs exercise i like.

@Midlifeshenanigans sounds like a great strategy. Well done on the month of July. Do you WFH? Or go in to work?
WFH you can get a walking pad and when you take breaks can do 5 -10mins on it or when reading through documents or emails.. walk on it for some of the reading.
If you go in to the office, is your office the sort where you can leave the building for lunch? It is really hard getting in steps when working.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Joolly2 · 31/07/2026 22:31

Good evening all,
I've only managed 6k today. I stayed up stupidly late last night watching The Traitors Canada. Before I knew it, it was gone 1.00am 🥱 I have been walking around like a zombie today. Off to bed now to try and catch up on my sleep.

WorthySloth · 31/07/2026 22:53

Managed just over 10k today. My monthly average is 11859 per day up by 1.5k per day

July - 10k a day Club
Onegramatatime · 01/08/2026 10:00

10,310 steps for me yesterday.

Welldone @WorthySloth .

Onwards to the new thread.
