I am 5’6 and weigh 80kg. I feel huge

OP posts:
Wickedlittledancer · 23/05/2026 11:33

5ft 6 and a half, 57 kg/9 stone.

youre not huge, I was always this size, then peri hit and I gained a lot of weight, went up to 98kg, 15 and a half stone, bmi 32 I think and was really unwell. Sleep apnea, high blood pressure, high cortisol, insulin resistance,

used mounjaro, with healthy eating and gym and hit this weight a year or so ago. Now maintaining on a low dose.

if yiu can’t lose it through willpower and want to lose it, I’d recommend it.

Livedandlearned · 23/05/2026 11:35

5’4 and 68 kg

PifflyHigs · 23/05/2026 11:38

5ft5, 57kg

Biggest was 118kg.

I don't like going more than 9st now, I feel bloated any heavier.

KnottyKnitting · 23/05/2026 11:43

11stone 8 down from 12 stone 10 in the last 5 months. 5 foot 5. Lost around a lb a week using calorie deficit and aqua/ swimming. I am the lightest I have been since my mid 20s ( now 61) gone down a dress size- rather pleased with myself! planning to carry on until I get to about 10st 5 If I can.

adviceatthislatestage · 23/05/2026 11:49

I’m 59, 4’11 and two years ago was 10st 11

Started Mounjaro and steadily lost. Could not believe how quickly the food noise disappeared (some people don’t think this exists, but for me it most definitely did)

I stopped raiding the fridge /cupboard very 10 mins, and that feeling of what else can I eat whilst stuffing my face with the fridge/cupboard doors still open Blush

Reached 8st and began weaning myself off the higher doses. Have been maintaining on 2.5mg for about a year. Weight settled around 8st 7lb but am happy with that.

The food noise does come back occasionally, especially when I’m tired or stressed but is more of a whisper and I can fight that off ok

so like a PP if WLI are an option for you, give it a try.

Did you lose fat or muscle with mounjaro?

OP posts:
SnowflakeSmasher86 · 23/05/2026 11:51

5’3” and 15.5 stone. At my lightest was around 11.5 about 20 years ago, but peri, underactive thyroid and chronic pain have all contributed to weight gain and trouble losing, so I’ve been this size for about 10 years now. I’m just accepting and embracing my size. I’m pretty active, eat healthy-ish but enjoy my food, and have managed to get my other health conditions to a point where I feel mentally well, so that’s a win. Physical health I’ll just accept as is it because I don’t have the energy to fight my weight anymore. Clearly still feel the need to defend myself though. Sad

adviceatthislatestage · 23/05/2026 11:52

Oh and should also say I do 2x high intensity classes twice a week and a long 90 min walk once a week, so every other day some exercise

Did you lose fat or muscle with mounjaro?

You lose both, but you can build muscle through exercise like weight training and being careful with what you eat.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 23/05/2026 11:58

5ft 6, 8 stone 9.5.

Used to be 13 stone, went down to 8 stone 3 with intermittent fasting, fell off the wagon a bit and gained half a stone, now aiming for 8 st 7 as that feels like my sweet spot.

Fat, I work out six days a week. I am fit and toned with clear muscle definition. Losing muscle is simply about losing weight too rapidly. Not eating enough protein and not strength training. My muscle mass is now higher than before I lost the weight, in terms of percentage, obvs.

Well yes, it’s the same for any weight loss. Suspect the op thinks the drugs make you lose muscle, they don’t, and as you say if you eat right and work out you protect it. Everyine loses some, otherwise you’d look weird, the important stat is muscle mass percentage.

Meadowfinch · 23/05/2026 12:03

5'8" and 64kg. Running, karate and cooking from scratch help me maintain that weight..

Not sure how exactly the drugs work other than they suppress the appetite, but I was under the impression that the actual weight loss was just like a crash diet.

They aren't a quick-fix in the same way as a crash diet isn't.
Slow and steady dieting with strength exercise is a better option, but WLI have a place if the excess weight is a medical issue.

Same, after 10 months on Mounjaro. I feel fantastic and my diabetic nurse is very pleased.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 23/05/2026 12:17

Weighed this morning and I was 8st 7 and I’m 5ft 1. Very pleased. Ive been on Mounjaro for over a year and started at 12st 9 and had a steady loss.

InfoSecInTheCity · 23/05/2026 12:20

5ft 8 now 62kg, was 123kg in Sept 2024

Did you lose fat or muscle with mounjaro?

You lose both unless you do resistance exercises, this is the same for any weight loss by any method whether it’s Mounjaro, gastric bypass, keto, CICO, shakes……

southofscotland · 23/05/2026 12:32

5ft0 and 53kg (8st 4). I was 59kg (9st 6) about 2 years ago, have lost weight steadily since by being in a 400-500 calorie deficit on weekdays and trying not to massively exceed by BMR on weekends. Goal weight is 51kg (8st).

SaltShark · 23/05/2026 12:33

Im 39 4foot 11 and weigh 8 stone.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 23/05/2026 12:37

Too much. 5 ft 4.5 and 13 stone. Used to be 11 which was ok, ideal is 10. Lightest has been below 7 but in teens.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 23/05/2026 12:38

I’m on levothyroxine and fluoxetine which don’t help with weight gain.

ginislife · 23/05/2026 12:38

This morning 172.8lbs - 12.2/78kg. 5’7”. At my heaviest was 15 stone but was seriously ill 7 years ago and lost 4.5 stone in 4 ish months. Put 3 stone of it back on over time. Lost 22 lbs on MJ recently but I do struggle to maintain it so every so often I do 4 weeks on 2.5 to lose the 7lbs I put on (I eat too many Jaffa cakes 😂😂). What I don’t really get is why I never drop a dress size. I’ve been a size 16 forever - like 30+ years). All that happens is I fit back into my small size 16s again. I’d never buy a size 14 as it wouldn’t fit.

Chickydoo · 23/05/2026 12:39

5ft7' 55.5 kg. Feels about right for me

Kitkate21 · 23/05/2026 12:40
