⭐️OPEN TO ALL⭐️ Weight Loss, Wellbeing & Motivation Thread To Support Healthy Habits.

Following on from ⭐️LOSE IT! Active April 2026⭐️

I blinked and missed April 🙃. Apologies for my absence; the month passed by so quickly! I’m feeling a little bit more human and absolutely doing my best to move more and eat well.

Jumping into May LOSE IT! - To reach optimum health and vitality (as well as a trim body) we need to focus not only on our food intake; but movement, our mental health and sleep quality too!

Who doesn’t want to feel good and energetic as well looking great!

Get on board to reset & refresh and become a healthier version of yourself.

These threads are for those who’d like to lose weight and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We have a WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable) that’s based on several sensible principles including:-

  1. Eat a variety of real whole foods such as fresh vegetables, salad, berries, beans, nuts, eggs, lean meat, good fats etc.
  2. Reduce sugars, simple carbs, alcohol and UPFs.
  3. Plan your meals & log your intake. Also be mindful of portion control.
  4. Intermittent fasting - research suggests (Zoe study) that adhering to an eating window of 10 hours can have a positive effect on health, wellbeing and weight loss. I personally have a eating window of approximately 7hrs - 12:00 - 19:00.
  5. Stay hydrated! 💧
  6. Move as much as able. Particularly strength based exercise. Muscle keeps you strong as well as revs up your metabolism.
  7. Get the fibre in! Great for your gut biome as well as 💩
  8. SLEEP! Good sleep hygiene and a regularly sleep routine can be beneficial to weight loss. I’m always more hungry following poor sleep.
  9. Be mindful about your own mental wellbeing and try not to eat your feelings. We’ve all been there!
  10. Be kind to yourself! ❤️ One or two slip ups won’t undo all your previous efforts. Just check-in with yourself, reinforce your good intentions and carry on.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone.
After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 3lbs.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Any recipes/workouts that have worked for you, you’d like to share?

Well done to everyone who has had a loss today.

SW: 111.05kg
CW: 96.85kg
GW: 78-80kg

NSV: ordered a few size 18 t-shirts and trousers and everything fit (and actually looked nice?!).

I'm trying not to buy too many new clothes as I'd love to drop another dress size, but I've had to get rid of basically all my size 22 clothes (still hanging on to some 20s which fit, albeit loosely now) and with warmer weather hopefully on the horizon I suddenly realised I had nothing to wear.

Happy with a small loss as I've been a bit slack this week, eating more bread and biscuits than I should. Need to get back on it (for a few days at least - I'm away next week and I suspect the lure of holiday food will be strong...)

Have been trying to walk a bit more over the last week or two but the weather has been so unpredictable today that I've not left the house yet today, oops.

FridayNighFeeling · 13/05/2026 20:37

Great NSV @PipkinOfPepper

I think it gets easier as you get in the swing of things @Rosetime but also simplifying things help. EG I have pretty much the same 2 lunches - jacket with ham and cheese (potatoes are very filling) or chicken wrap - obviously salad or coleslaw or fruit with it..... but means I don't really have to think too much.

biscuitcat · 14/05/2026 18:54

Well done @PipkinOfPepper - isn’t it a lovely feeling!

I’m maintaining my Wednesday weight so far, and have been good today - but have a birthday party and a Eurovision party on the weekend so will see how that lasts!!

Today’s menu:

B - Greek yoghurt with apple and cinnamon
L - chicken flatbread with fruit and a Kinder Bueno
D - chicken with croquettes and spinach
S - a very restrained number of pistachios

FridayNighFeeling · 14/05/2026 19:21

So easy to overeat nuts @biscuitcat Grin

Back to -27 1/4lbs which is the lowest weight I've reached... but expecting it to bib up tomorrow morning as we had a Chinese ready meal this evening.

Gym last night was tough! Ballet moves... thighs inside and outside hurt today Shock

Rosetime · 15/05/2026 00:11

How is everyone doing/feeling?
I have been on this weight loss journey many times over the years. This last one has been for over a year. Tbf, it's been stop start. But this year, there has been no stop.

I have been pretty consistent and have made progress everyday - increasing my steps - doing a minimum of 10k everyday, gradually starting working out to now doing up to 40 mins workout on some days and very very slowly starting to try getting back into running. Did a 2 minute jog without stopping today.

Yesterday and today, i met my calories and protein requirements, did a minimum of 10K steps/day and did a workout. I am glad I pushed through my 'meh' and fed-upness feeling.

I do not know why i am writing all this, I feel like speaking to someone but can only really share with people that are on a similar journey. Also, maybe it is a roundabout way of saying thank-you to everyone that understands. Knowing others felt the same but are still keeping on was encouraging.

ChunkyMonkey36 · 15/05/2026 07:36

@Rosetime

I’m struggling at the moment with pushing through the “meh” you’re describing. I’m still at the point of trying to increase steps/movement and honestly at the moment, I can’t be bothered.

We’re in a real rut sleep-wise with my son, have been for about 3 weeks now, and I’m just really lacking the “get up and go” to make sure my movement happens.

I still don’t find exercise cathartic in any way - I find it exhausting and unpleasant!

This week has been the worst food wise too. I’m still in deficit, just about, but my meal planning and prep has gone out the window.

Last night I fully thought we had mince for burger bowls, was absolutely convinced - turns out we ate it 3 days ago and have just hugely dropped the ball on food shopping for ourselves. Every part of me wanted to order a takeaway, I guess the positive step is that I didn’t!

Planning to keep at it because even the 1lb I’m managing to get off a week at the moment is downward; but it’s a real real slog at the moment.

Rosetime · 15/05/2026 07:42

@ChunkyMonkey36 , sounds tough. I can't imagine you are getting the right amount of sleep or remembering to drink water. Makes the 'meh' period tougher to break, also works against losing weight. Well done on resisting getting a takeaway, though be kind to yourself. How old is your little one?
You are not alone, hang in there..."this too shall pass".

ChunkyMonkey36 · 15/05/2026 08:32

@Rosetime

He’s 9, but severely autistic. We’re in a sleep and behaviour “spike” at the moment, but they do usually pass over a few months.

I’m going to have to write a list/plan for food, get back on that “wagon” properly, and just work on that and try to get the exercise in where I can.

FridayNighFeeling · 15/05/2026 08:32

Well done for not getting the take away! 1lb off a week is 52lbs a year, so don't discredit your hard work.

As predicted, I'm up a pound this morning - I've obviously not eaten that so will just carry on as best I can till I hit half term where we are away celebrating a big birthday so will involve sitting in the car, service station food, meals out and hopefully also lots of steps and sight seeing to counter balance!

Gym class booked for 9AM tomorrow morning 😇

CherryogDog · 15/05/2026 08:38

Late for WOW.
Sad to say my weight is going up again, 69.7 this morning.
Feeling quite down about it.
So much conflicting advice out there, but think I need to knuckle down with the LCHF as that's what worked in the past.
Re step count, I think it was Michael Moseley who said that 4000 fast steps that make you out of breath and "glowy" are far more beneficial than 10.000 steps over the day.
I can certainly get 7,000 steps on a dog walk, and not feel I've moved much at all, and it's often accompanied by the sound track of me muttering under my breath "ffs, how much longer are you going to be sniffing that same blade of grass" 😁
Anyway, well done to everyone on your losses!

Rosetime · 15/05/2026 08:44

@ChunkyMonkey36 , i hear you. The spikes are very trying periods.
Just do what you have to do to get through it. One small step at a time. The fact that you are still losing 1lb a week is really positive.
Being sleep deprived, mentally and physically tired will definitely not make exercise cathartic for most people.
Wishing you all a better today.

Pasta4Dinner · 15/05/2026 11:13

Weight bounced up this morning to 80.4kg and I feel a bit bloated, I know it won’t last I just don’t want to see that number 8 anymore.

JustOneMoreMargarita · 15/05/2026 11:54

@Rosetime - well done on the 2 minute jog! I have introduced a third run of the week now to try and get past the needing to walk stage… I can do 7K with a mix of running / walking but I’m aiming to get back to being able to run 5K continuously again. So today was 3 and 4 minute running intervals, and I’ll keep trying to increase those on my Friday runs,

I am pretty consistent with my 15K steps a day now, skipping less weights workouts than a few weeks ago and mostly hitting calories. Weekends I relax a bit (but keep up the exercise) so it’s slow but the trend is down and I can feel myself starting to tone up a bit. Just need to remember that I feel better when I do this and not succumb to the ‘meh’ moments which I know will happen.

life is a little bit stressful as my youngest is doing GCSEs at the moment but we’ll get there.

Fellsbells · 15/05/2026 17:42

@Rosetime well done on your progress. It’s inspiring that you’ve stuck with it and it’s making a difference this year.

@ChunkyMonkey36 Missing sleep is a killer for weight loss. I hope your ds finds his sleep improves soon.

@JustOneMoreMargarita fellow runner and GCSE dc here too. It’s been a long week. Calorie deficit is out the window. I can’t starve and cope with this at the same time.

I’m all over the place with weight loss. After a solid 6 months of tracking and maintaining at goal the last 6 weeks have been a mess. I’m 5lbs up. I lost a some last week slogging through a daily 500 calorie deficit, then this week I’ve just eaten them all back again.

I’m seriously considering a different way of WL. Maybe concentrating more on blood sugar. It worked well in the past when I had to do it for gestational diabetes. Not sure I can give up bread and potatoes though which were both terrible for blood sugar spikes.

Rosetime · 15/05/2026 18:46

@Fellsbells , really sorry to hear last week was tough.. i hope you are able to get back on track. When there is a lot going on it's really hard to keep that zeal.
Like yourself and @JustOneMoreMargarita , we are in the GCSE trenches too.
JustOneMoreMargarita, wow! with your running... 3 times a week and 15K steps/day. That's fantastic. I look up to that, to be at a point where it's so consistent and part of my routine as is showering and brushing my teeth.

I have been at the funeral of a very close family member today. We lost him so young and it's just heartbreaking. I have just got home, people are still gathered talking about him and all his used to do. He was a very funny and happy chap. It is a very sad affair.. food and drinks available but no one was keen. Well, the kids were. Bless them😁
I am off to bed. Steps 4750, total calories between 130 - 180. Water about 1 litre.
I truly can't be fussed. Just want to sleep. I would get back on the horse tomorrow.

LemonDrizzle23 · 16/05/2026 08:28

@Rosetimesorry to hear about your young family member. Funerals are always hard, but for someone young I think they are extra tough.

A quiet day here today as DS has gone out with his grandparents, so we are doing as little as possible. I will definitely aim for some yoga and see if the weather holds enough for a walk. This week it’s been hailing here 😂 In England. In May. Madness! So not entirely conducive to getting out and enjoying the great outdoors!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Fellsbells · 16/05/2026 20:16

Checking in. Another not ideal day, but at least I didn’t eat the DC’s take away leftovers.

Looking on the positives, I ran 5km today and I have eaten a lot of protein. We’ll ignore the fuck tonne of chocolate I ate. My Period is on the horizon so probably explains the chocolate and slightly low mood.

moondip · 17/05/2026 14:28

How’s everyone’s weekends going? I had a friend visit, and although there was lots of walking, I’ve definitely gone a bit astray food wise (again)… I’m not sure what’s in store for WoW, but I really don’t want this to morph into another 4 weeks of hovering around the same weight as happened recently 😬🙏

Meetmeunderthemoonlight · 17/05/2026 18:37

Can I join this lovely group?

Weight 12 stone 1 lbs - I've been stuck at this weight around a good few weeks now, my fault completely I've fallen into a rut of less exercise, water and far to many snacks. Thankfully my sleep is good with roughly 7 or 8 hours of deep sleep a night. I have anxiety so that's a daily problem which exercise does help with when I do it frequently. On the plus side I've been tracking my calories since January and so far have lost 16lbs.

FridayNighFeeling · 17/05/2026 18:37

It's tricky isn't it @moondip when weekends wreck progress and @Fellsbells and others going through GCSEs. Have done GCSEs and A levels in recent years and just about to again in a year or so eek

I've definitely been maintenance cals rather than loss, but I think it's OK-ish... but I still want that 1lbs off! sigh

Have a good week all! Catch you on WOW

OrangeJellySnakes · 17/05/2026 20:24

Can I also join please? I’m really really struggling to lose the last 3-4 kg (half a stone to 3/4 stone). I know it’s not a huge amount but it’s the difference between me having an ‘obese’ waist and not having one! I have high cholesterol too so really need to get on with it as when I lose weight, my cholesterol tends to go down too. I’ve been on a weight loss journey now for over a year and the end is so close but yet so far!

today I ate a whole big packet of ham crisps, some Haribo and a Freddo. That is much worse than normal but Dp bought loads of snacks and I have zero willpower. I also baked some healthy carrot and oat muffins (no butter and use banana and a small amount of olive oil as fat).

Dp is away till Thursday for work and I need to be in the office and I always do better food wise when I’m not at home so I have high hopes for this week!

LemonDrizzle23 · 17/05/2026 21:24

Welcome @Meetmeunderthemoonlight and @OrangeJellySnakes 👋 We’re a supportive bunch here!

Meals have been pretty good here this weekend, but there’s been a lot of sweet stuff as well - I’m blaming my period.

I’m currently blown up like a balloon as well - also blaming my period for that 😂 so the deflatine is in use…. Have a hospital appt for DS first thing tomorrow, so hoping my insides have calmed down a bit by then!

Meetmeunderthemoonlight · 18/05/2026 00:09

Thank you @LemonDrizzle23 this thread has already inspired me tonight watching tv instead of crisps I had Crudités with hummus and a few squares of chocolate 😇

SnowFrogJelly · 18/05/2026 00:49

Checking in.. need to get back on the weight loss wagon

Rosetime · 18/05/2026 03:17

Welcome @OrangeJellySnakes and @Meetmeunderthemoonlight !!! Both lovely usernames.

I weighed today, i lost 400g.
Yesterday, i took a break from keeping healthy/losing weight. My steps were 3672, 652 kcals - 66g protein and no workout. My sleep has been very poor and my water intake not great at all. The day before (friday) was very similar. Not great days for weight loss.

But today, i have met my calorie requirements, protein requirements, done 11,234 steps so far and a 35 minute work out. Ran/jogged non-stop for 5 mins. Last time it was 2mins.

@LemonDrizzle23 , i have a 'feeling swollen' feeling when on my period. I can imagine how you feel. Luckily, in a few days time, you will be back to normal. Crazy thing..periods.
