I ended last year in a very unhealthy place, around five stone over where I should be (and even that is still taking me to technically "overweight", though in the past I've looked healthy and relatively slim at that weight).

I promised myself this would be the year I change things, and I've lost two stone since January. However, I've still got a lot to go - I'd like to lose three stone more - and I'd love some company!

A lot of the threads are full of people who are much less fat to begin with, and I find it slightly dispiriting to see people starting their diets already weighing less than my goal weight.

GW: 80kg

I'm 5'7.

(I realise it's weird to talk about losing stones then post weight in kilos, but I weigh myself in kg. TBH I take my wins where I can - 5kg, a stone, etc)

Hi I will join you if ok, what method are you using for weight loss?

I am a bit under 5ft4 and down from 212lbs (pos a little higher!) to 204 lbs over the last 2/3 weeks or so. I did have 5 stone to lose but now closer to 4 - depending how far into the healthy range i would want to go. I had been stuck gaining for ages, although in theory trying to lose weight, but seem to be in the swing of things at the moment.

Btw I am not American, but I like lbs as you hit a goal every 10lbs! Apple automatically updated my weight on my calorie counting app as 92.7kg so I guess 89 is a goal. Maybe I will just use all three 😂 as I think I have gone from 15 stone to 14 stone something this month which I am happy about.

Aren’t you eligible for weight-loss injections like Ozempic or Mounjaro?
Have you asked your GP?

I tried them (bought them myself from an online pharmacy) for a bit at the start of the year, but I really didn't like the side effects and thought it was ridiculous to keep using them when I hadn't tried losing weight the "normal" way. Obviously it made eating less a bit easier, and the weight came off faster when I was using the jabs, but tbh I'm finding it relatively straightforward so far doing it through willpower alone. I used them for about 6 weeks, so I've done 2.5 months by myself.

Welcome! And well done on your losses so far. I think flitting between the different units of measurement for as many wins as possible makes a lot of sense.

I'm currently trying to eat around 1500 calories a day, though I don't use an app or anything. I do keep a food diary though. I'm also trying to increase my steps and my water intake. So not doing anything particularly fancy - just boring, predictable healthier living!

Hi All,

I'd like to join in too, I'm very much in the A LOT to lose club. I'm 5 foot 3, and started a couple of months ago at 24 stone 11 which is a BMI of 61. I'm 35 and, absolutely miraculously, I currently have no issues such as diabetes or high blood pressure but I felt like I am ticking time bomb. My youngest has a life limiting condition with profound disabilities which sent me in to a spiral for a long time, but I have to get a grip for the children's sake.

SW: 24st 11lb or 157kg
CW: 21st 11lb or 138kg
GW: somewhere around 15 stone is where I'm currently aiming for. Obviously that is still obese but anymore seems too far away, my hope would be to get there then re-evaluate.

Wishing you all the best in your weight loss journey!

@Oake well done on your weight loss so far! Any kind of slight stress derails me (and is something I need to work on) so you are doing amazingly well.

I think my plan this week is 1400 cals but might try to just watch the averages for the week.
