I ended last year in a very unhealthy place, around five stone over where I should be (and even that is still taking me to technically "overweight", though in the past I've looked healthy and relatively slim at that weight).

I promised myself this would be the year I change things, and I've lost two stone since January. However, I've still got a lot to go - I'd like to lose three stone more - and I'd love some company!

A lot of the threads are full of people who are much less fat to begin with, and I find it slightly dispiriting to see people starting their diets already weighing less than my goal weight.

(I realise it's weird to talk about losing stones then post weight in kilos, but I weigh myself in kg. TBH I take my wins where I can - 5kg, a stone, etc)

Hi I will join you if ok, what method are you using for weight loss?

I am a bit under 5ft4 and down from 212lbs (pos a little higher!) to 204 lbs over the last 2/3 weeks or so. I did have 5 stone to lose but now closer to 4 - depending how far into the healthy range i would want to go. I had been stuck gaining for ages, although in theory trying to lose weight, but seem to be in the swing of things at the moment.

Btw I am not American, but I like lbs as you hit a goal every 10lbs! Apple automatically updated my weight on my calorie counting app as 92.7kg so I guess 89 is a goal. Maybe I will just use all three 😂 as I think I have gone from 15 stone to 14 stone something this month which I am happy about.

Aren’t you eligible for weight-loss injections like Ozempic or Mounjaro?
Have you asked your GP?

I tried them (bought them myself from an online pharmacy) for a bit at the start of the year, but I really didn't like the side effects and thought it was ridiculous to keep using them when I hadn't tried losing weight the "normal" way. Obviously it made eating less a bit easier, and the weight came off faster when I was using the jabs, but tbh I'm finding it relatively straightforward so far doing it through willpower alone. I used them for about 6 weeks, so I've done 2.5 months by myself.

Welcome! And well done on your losses so far. I think flitting between the different units of measurement for as many wins as possible makes a lot of sense.

I'm currently trying to eat around 1500 calories a day, though I don't use an app or anything. I do keep a food diary though. I'm also trying to increase my steps and my water intake. So not doing anything particularly fancy - just boring, predictable healthier living!

Hi All,

I'd like to join in too, I'm very much in the A LOT to lose club. I'm 5 foot 3, and started a couple of months ago at 24 stone 11 which is a BMI of 61. I'm 35 and, absolutely miraculously, I currently have no issues such as diabetes or high blood pressure but I felt like I am ticking time bomb. My youngest has a life limiting condition with profound disabilities which sent me in to a spiral for a long time, but I have to get a grip for the children's sake.

SW: 24st 11lb or 157kg
CW: 21st 11lb or 138kg
GW: somewhere around 15 stone is where I'm currently aiming for. Obviously that is still obese but anymore seems too far away, my hope would be to get there then re-evaluate.

ChubbyGroundhog · 01/05/2026 01:55

Wishing you all the best in your weight loss journey!

Clearingaspace · 01/05/2026 09:04

@Oake well done on your weight loss so far! Any kind of slight stress derails me (and is something I need to work on) so you are doing amazingly well.

I think my plan this week is 1400 cals but might try to just watch the averages for the week.

ChantelleGarvey · 03/05/2026 18:04

I would love to join OP - following on from the weather turning nicer, I’ve realised that I’m only happy with the way I look if I can put a coat on to hide my horrible tummy - hence my username 😂

I‘m 5‘ 5“ and have around 4st to lose - lost 1 by myself over about a year, really hoping the rest will come off more quickly! DP is very overweight (has around 10st to lose) but his downfall is alcohol and lack of exercise, whereas mine is having no time to cook and eat properly because I’m too busy doing it for everyone else…

Clearingaspace · 04/05/2026 09:10

Hi @ChantelleGarvey - well done on 1st stone off. Keeping weight loss off is the hardest bit so you have done well over a year.

typically, as soon as I feel on enough of a losing streak to join a new group my weight goes up a bit! I had been losing weight more or less every day so I guess that was water weight. So 1700 seems to be maintenance for me, which is a bit annoying as it should be around 2100. In theory that must mean i need 1200 to lose 1lb a week but my RENPHO scale suggests 1450 to lose 2 🤨 but I will try harder to actually hit that 1450 as my average over the week ahead rather than. 16-1700.

happy bank holiday Monday all - I am so happy not to have work today! Hopefully I will do a weights workout today.

Monkeytennis97 · 04/05/2026 15:59

Hi I’d like to join too!
SW 19 stone 5lbs
CW 18 stone 12lbs
GW 12 stone 4lbs or so

I’m coming off the back of losing 6 stone in Covid then put it all back on again over last 5 years which have been stressful so lots of comfort eating. No injections here, not against them or anything but I don’t want to do them personally. I’m 5 feet 5. I’m keeping a diet diary and using the treadmill (trying to get 600-900 active calories burnt off daily) and eating currently around 1800 calories a day. Started 18 days ago.

PipkinOfPepper · 04/05/2026 20:37

Welcome all! We've had a v busy weekend so just catching up properly now.

Weighed myself this morning and the scale hadn't budged but I'm happy with that as we've seen friends so eaten far more than I would have done otherwise, and I've been really premenstrual and bloated. I tend to weigh daily but record on a Monday - anyone want to join me next week?

@Oake three stone weight loss is amazing, well done! It's easy to fixate on how we 'should' have stopped ourselves before getting to our heaviest isn't it, but all we can do is focus on getting healthier and forming better habits from now on. Sounds like you're already doing brilliantly.

@ChantelleGarvey welcome, and congrats on the stone off! For me, a big part of wanting to lose weight and get healthier this year is down to me finally deciding to prioritise myself a bit - easier said than done though isn't it? Is your DH supportive of you at least? Hopefully he will be inspired by you!

@Clearingaspace I weigh daily too and those pesky days when the scale goes up are so demoralising. I've been tracking since January though so it's getting easier to reassure myself on those days that the general trend is definitely downwards, and that the weight IS coming off slowly, even if it doesn't seem like it.

@Monkeytennis97 welcome! That sounds like an excellent plan, and you've already lost so much in under three weeks, I'm so impressed. I'd love a treadmill but our house is too small so I'm trying to go for daily walks to up my step count a bit.

ChantelleGarvey · 04/05/2026 23:36

@Monkeytennis97 I love Alan Partridge Grin and well done on your weight loss! Can I ask if your diet diary is a paper copy or an app? I'd rather do it on paper but don't want any of my family to find it Blush If there's a decent app I might give that a go instead!

@PipkinOfPepper Mondays work for me - DP hasn't even noticed I've lost a bit of weight, he's far too busy blaming me for his weight gain Hmm he will moan continuously that I do all the cooking, so it must be my fault that he's put on weight! Well yes, but then all the snacks he eats before and after dinner, plus hoovering up any leftovers he can find, plus drinking (and snacking) a lot on Friday nights, plus him never doing any exercise may have something to do with it...

I do definitely want to try to prioritise myself a bit more. Just not sure how or when to do it, or indeed how to find any time to even think about it Confused

PipkinOfPepper · 05/05/2026 09:32

@ChantelleGarvey that fact you’ve started and you’re here means you’re already starting. Are there little ways you can gently start to increase movement across the week? Not going to suggest anything time consuming but eg 10 squats while you wait for the kettle to boil, two minutes of stretching before you get dressed, etc? And similarly, if you do the cooking then can you make tweaks to meals so that suit YOUR goals rather than please DH?

OP posts:
Monkeytennis97 · 05/05/2026 10:15

@ChantelleGarvey I’m doing my diary on ChatGPT - it’s where I can be a diet bore to AI and not annoy anyone else with it all, it’s great for encouragement too.

another 1lb down today yay!

PipkinOfPepper · 05/05/2026 10:30

@Monkeytennis97 @ChantelleGarvey since January I've kept an incredibly boring spreadsheet with everything I've eaten!

Hi can I join!
I am now ready to get back on the weight loss plan now by twins (children number 3 and 4) are turning one year. Since having my daughter 5 years ago I have gained and lost the same 3 stone with each pregnancy/post partum. I’m now determined to lose it for good! I’m doing intermittent fasting which has worked in the past.
Start weight: 13st 2lb
Current weight: 12st 9lb
Goal weight: 10st

PipkinOfPepper · 05/05/2026 15:24

@Countrycritter welcome! Very impressed you have the energy and motivation with year old twins, well done. What sort of IF are you doing?

OP posts:
Countrycritter · 05/05/2026 16:14

@PipkinOfPepper I have an eating window of 12-6pm. Basically I skip breakfast and then don’t have anything after dinner with the kids. It really helps me to not snack in the evening on sugary foods.

That sounds great. I'm currently eating breakfast still, but I'm also trying to have supper earlier and not snack in the evenings. It's supposed to be so much better for your metabolism as well as for general calorie reduction. If I plateau at some point I think I'll do the same re: breakfast.

OP posts:
Countrycritter · 05/05/2026 18:03

Yeh I find once I start eating in the day it just makes me more hungry, but if I know I’m not eating until 12 it’s a lot easier. Plus with running around after the kids all morning it’s normally not until 10am that I start to think about breakfast, by then I just might as well wait until lunch

SerenitySeeker4 · 05/05/2026 18:07

I'll join you, but I weigh lesser. Is it ok,

darumafan · 05/05/2026 20:49

I'd like to join if that's ok?
My starting weight on January 19th this year was 106 kg.
My current weight is 87 kg.
My goal weight is 75 kg.
I'm 55 years old and about 171 cm tall.

Lordofthewing · 05/05/2026 20:58

Hi is it okay if I join?

starting weight-17st 12.
current weight- 16st 9.
Goal weight- 13st

I've been diabetic for 5 years and have experienced severe depression. I did manage to get into diabetes remission but sadly put on weight again and with it came the diabetes again.

I actually started trying to lose weight at the start of December 2025 but experienced very sharp abdominal pains and issues with bowel (I don’t think it was due to trying to diet and I’m still awaiting hospital to call about colonoscopy) so I didn’t want to make too many drastic changes.

I think I had to get to the point of self-loathing to really try and make this work. But the weight loss is very slow going despite me only eating twice a day and healthily. Currently feeling a bit demotivated and trying hard to keep going.

i do need to get down past 13st but think that’s as far a so will manage.

Ofchris · 05/05/2026 21:33

I’d like to join. I lost 2 stone in late 2024/early 2025 and since then I’ve bounced around by a few pounds up and down ever since. I’m in a bad place now though just eating junk food so need to get into a better place.
SW 17st10
