Starting Blood Sugar diet today

I need a massive kick up the backside, have a big event in early May and have been finding it so difficult to motivate myself for anything really. I'm a member of a great small class gym which provides dietary support, but stress and sleep problems have destroyed my motivation.

So today I start the 8 Week Blood Sugar Diet as I've completely lost my grip on any kind of sensible eating and hopefully will lose some weight quite quickly and regain motivation.

I've been drinking too much wine, eating too much chocolate, etc. Past couple of weeks I've also strayed into just eating too much full stop. As the days get longer I'm going to get out in the garden and rediscover my mojo. Please wish me luck!

Very busy, lots of cooking and eating, plenty of wine has been drunk. Today was the first time I had any chocolate though.
Back on it tomorrow.

Good morning. Beautiful sunny day here, we have the week off and I’m looking forward to getting on with some jobs in the garden. I’m going to prep my breakfast before a hospital appointment but not eat it until after which with force me to fast longer and give myself a bit of a reset after a weekend of excesses. I am having a total rest day today with no exercise except a dog walk as I have had a really busy few weeks.

Food today:
Greek yog and chia with blueberries
smoked salmon, feta, avocado and salad
marinated chicken with brocolli

Morning all.
I’ve eaten a lot of chocolate over the Easter weekend so I’m back to the healthy eating today.
B - Greek yoghurt, berries, flax, chia, mixed seeds.
L - leftover salmon with salad leaves

D - Half a portion of HelloFresh meal.
Still lots of chocolate lurking…

Hello is this essentially Fast 800?

Autumngirl5 · 12/04/2026 16:25

I have got into a very negative cycle where I am tired so craving carbohydrates then that makes me tired again. On top of that I have become so addicted to coffee (9/10 cups a day) and am not sleeping well so crave carbohydrates so the whole cycle starts again!
I have also been diagnosed as pre diabetic so really need to do something about it.
I am starting tomorrow so wish me luck.

Hello is this essentially Fast 800?

Yes. So my few days off over the Easter weekend turned into a week and I was out last night with limited choice of food, all of it carb based. From tomorrow I am back on it, working towards an event in early May.

You can do this - the first couple of days are the most difficult.

Thank you. I lost my daughter a few years ago so February and March are hard months for me. Everything got out of hand but I am determined to look after myself better.
I am not vastly overweight but need to lose about 1.5 stones x

Fast800goingforit · 12/04/2026 16:43

I'm sorry for your loss. You should get fairly rapid results. I need to up my physical activity - walking, gardening and gym 2 or 3 times a week should do it.

@Fast800goingforit thank you.

I’d love to join in. I’m 74.5kg, height 169cm, BMI 26.1 - which I realise doesn’t sound too bad all things considered, but I don’t carry the weight well and I’ve got to submit a wedding dress order in 8 weeks and I want to get down to 70kg by then.

StandUpBakeOff · 12/04/2026 21:45

I'd love to join in too. I have been eating low carb this week without counting calories and macros but know I need to consistently follow the Fast800Keto approach.

Starting weight 98kg, BMI 38.

Fast800goingforit · 12/04/2026 22:21

The more the merrier! I really have to get back on track.

Tomorrow is likely to be Skyr and protein powder, lunch of protein toast with guacamole and poached eggs. Dinner will be chicken and veg. There's my plan. I am also going to try to go for a walk a few times a week. I used to walk every day, but am finding it difficult to motivate myself to get out. I've got a walking pad too...

Well today is day 1 for me. I’ve gone to Bootcamp and I’m still fasted except for 2 cups of coffee with a splash of milk.

Intending to break my fast at lunch with a smoked mackerel omelette and spinach salad.

Tomorrow will already be a cheat day as I have a work dinner and we had to pre order our meal.

Fast800goingforit · 11/05/2026 11:12

Coming back to this thread. A couple of days off at Easter turned into a week then I put my back out and was feeling very sorry for myself.

I've got 11 weeks to get beach ready! So getting back on it this week, hopefully with fewer set backs. The big event I was working towards has been and gone so there's less stress there.

No breakfast today as I didn't have time to get organised so will have more calories to play with for lunch.

Me too @Fast800goingforit, although I don’t think I can do true fast800 as I’m training for a marathon. But I like the idea of maybe a couple of fast days a week and eating a lot more whole foods and Mediterranean style. I have 2 weeks till holiday 1 (which frankly I don’t think is going to be warm anyway given the current temps) and probably another 8 til my France holiday so I could potentially drop a decent chunk but I’m just finding it so hard

Fast800goingforit · 11/05/2026 17:31

I need to find a way of overcoming emotional eating. Easier said than done.

OP posts:
Fast800goingforit · 12/05/2026 12:13

So yesterday was okay. I've had a terrible night's sleep though so need to make sure I don't slide into eating rubbish!

OP posts:
Autumngirl5 · 13/05/2026 07:45

That is my problem too. If I don’t sleep well or get too tired, I crave carbs then carbs make me feel tired and sluggish so it becomes a vicious circle.

Fast800goingforit · 13/05/2026 08:13

It's difficult isn't it? I did okay yesterday though despite only having 5 hours sleep. I decided to have some brown rice with my dinner and I'm glad I did. I was really hungry by bed time and had a few nuts. Calories were around 1100, but they've been much higher recently so once I've got the first few days out of the way, it should be fine. I want to be slimmer and fitter by the time we go away.

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/05/2026 08:20

I find the first few days low carb and of low calorie really affect my sleep anyway regardless of anything else
