Good morning

@thenewaveragebear1983 well done on your good day yesterday, it sounds like you smashed it. I hope today goes just as well for you. When does your gym arrive?

yesterday was okay for me too, I had about 1350 cals but I’m always nervous about stating a number because I don’t think I’m very good at counting calories. I ate a lot of strawberries instead of reaching for crisps and chocolate. I was actually sleeping in the chair when the dog woke me up for an evening walk so that made me do an hour and a quarters worth of steps. Walking is the only exercise I do, I think really I should be doing more exercise.

Today I’m planning another attack on the kitchen blinds. I’ve done half of one window and I’m inclined to leave them and just buy new blinds because it ends up being quite a big job, they are very grubby.

DP has hurt his back very badly so I may have to spend some time just sitting in the garden with him but I don’t want to waste the day when I’ve got a lot of jobs lined up.

I’m now 11st 3 and I’d like to get the 3 lbs off before the end of 6/6 but we’ll see.

Have a good Tuesday

TalkToTheHand123 · 14/07/2026 08:20

Hi all. Got through the day with a sachet of couscous. Although was very busy so was distracted. Ate quite a bit when I returned home. Down 1lb from my highest weight so a little pleased.

TalkToTheHand123 · 14/07/2026 09:35

Plan is to give up cake. I was going to continue with crisps as I found these tomatoe flavour crisps which are delicious but need to be strict as getting a bit annoyed with the lack of progress. They are addictive so would be good anyways.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/07/2026 19:00

@poorpawsits here! Build completed but being sprayed inside on Friday, then we can move in! It’s so beautiful 😻

I did have a great day yesterday but I am already over by a few today, but that’s ok. My office day is notoriously difficult, I come home ravenous and dehydrated and it never ends well. I’ve not had anything too terrible, but the choices were high calorie (gnocchi and pesto sauce for dinner for example)
I’m just sitting catching the last few rays, admiring my “shed” and writing my shopping list. I have a real craving for tuna steak, I’m going to add some to my order.

poorpaws · 14/07/2026 19:16

@thenewaveragebear1983 omg it’s lovely and so posh. I was hoping for a photo, I hope you really enjoy it

today hasn’t gone quite so well for me, but I’m just heading off for a dog walk to try to counteract the damage. I’ve not gone way over calories yet, but goodness knows what will happen after the dog walk.

Specialneedsnightmare · 14/07/2026 19:26

I'm doing ok, it's up and down but due to stress I've lost overall, so that's a good bonus. My stomach doesn't look so pronounced, so that's a good incentive to keep going.

poorpaws · 15/07/2026 08:48

Yesterday did not go well. My dinner was smaller and earlier than usual and I stayed up much later. This lead to mindless snacking late evening. I didn’t go to the chocolate bars on purpose but had lots of popcorn, crisps, cheddars, ice lollies, in fact anything I could lay my hands on. It was my worst day on 6/6 and I regret it. Lesson learned, eat more for dinner, go to bed earlier. I’m hoping for a STS this week which I can deal with but I don’t want to gain.

i think a lot of my snacking problems are when i overtired which i definitely was yesterday. I worked all day and didn’t want to do the evening walk but of course i did and it tipped me over into the mindless “I’ve worked so hard today without rests, I deserve treats”. I think if i drank alcohol it would have been a night for a couple of glasses of wine which at least would have been fewer calories 🤦🏼‍♀️

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/07/2026 19:02

So from my starting weight on 8/7 I am now down 1.5lbs, not the amazing success of poorpaws but actually considering I have struggled a bit on some days, I’m ok with that.

It was lovely and cool and I ran this morning, if it’s cool tomorrow I will do the same. Tonight I am having tuna steak, new potatoes and asparagus and grilled tomatoes, very healthy dinner 😋 I have zero interest in football so will have a bath and do my hair and maybe even go to bed early. My gp agreed to switch my HRT method to a continuous one after 3 years on patches so I am really hoping that stops my turbulent hormones and helps weight loss

I’m struggling yet again today, I’m craving carbs like a crazy woman. I’m trying desperately to eat sensibly enough for a sts result but although hopeful, I’m unsure I can achieve it.

@thenewaveragebear1983 well done on your 1.5 lbs loss, don’t undermine your result, it’s excellent considering what you are going through.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/07/2026 17:43

I feel quite unwell today with a sinus headache and sneezing, I hope I don’t develop a full blown cold! That seems unfair given the temperature outside. I was really craving some stodgy carbs today and ended up making myself a cheese sandwich with naan bread, it was quite nice actually and I used a mini naan which was only 120 cals. Dh is away tonight and I am going to take advantage of that and eat something light and watch the katie price documentary, then go to bed early!

OP posts:
poorpaws · 16/07/2026 18:45

@thenewaveragebear1983 sorry to hear you aren’t feeling great. I hope it doesn’t transform into a full blown summer cold and that you’ll feel better soon.

ive tried much harder with my food today as i feel I have been sliding down a slippery slope to putting my lost pounds right back on again. I had watermelon for lunch and I’m going out with the dogs soon, so if I just have a packet of low fat crisps later, I should be in calorie deficit.

I feel this is becoming really difficult now that I’m constantly trying not to graze and trying to stay on track.

HazelNotHungryLC · 17/07/2026 03:00

Sorry I haven't been able to post every day, we went camping over the weekend so had no service. Work has been crazy too and it seems I have no time in the evening also!

So a week on I have dropped 2.8lbs! Although my weight had increased last week, so it's good to see that it has gone, and more.
15th July: 165.3lbs.

HazelNotHungryLC · 17/07/2026 03:35

@thenewaveragebear1983 I hope you're feeling better soon! Is it possible it's hayfever instead of a cold?
I love your gym! It's beautiful 😍
Well done on your loss! 1.5lbs lost is still 1.5lbs less than you were last week.

@poorpaws is it possible you are thirsty instead of hungry? Have you tried fruit infused water at all to hydrate? You might just need a distraction instead, like doing a jigsaw puzzle or knitting, whatever it is you might like to do 🤷‍♀️

@Specialneedsnightmare well done on your loss! Sorry to hear about your stress though.

@TalkToTheHand123 giving up cake is a good plan. To have it as a treat every once in a while keeps it special too

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/07/2026 07:57

It’s definitely a cold, I feel absolutely rotten today, how annoying. I’ve taken some lemsip and hopefully will feel better. I weighed in for my Monday weigh in early as it’s my birthday Sunday, and I’m down another pound, so now 11.2.5 - this is really good for me. No chance of maintaining it this weekend though 🤣 🎂 🍹

sorry to those that are having a stressful time

@poorpawsi get it will the grazing. I tend to do that more when my meals aren’t very interesting, I eat and then I still seem out something “nice”. At the moment i am really trying to have my meals (1/3 of my daily calories at each meal) and not really anything else. If I max out my calories especially my breakfast it really seems to help me. And drinking lots early in the day, by the time i’m grazing it’s already too late. I try to drink a pint of water at least 2-3 times during the morning and this seems to help curb the grazing after lunch. I’m not a night time snacker I am an after lunch slump grazer!

poorpaws · 19/07/2026 09:58

@thenewaveragebear1983 how are you? I hope you’re feeling better.

t@HazelNotHungryLC good result this week, well done. no chance of my overeating being down to thirst. I drink a lot, lots more than average, in fact my partner says I never have a glass out of my hands which is true. I don’t drink alcohol at all but I drink a lot of Diet Coke, enough for it to be an addiction.

i think I’ve clawed back the earlier overeating and should be enough to have sts, hopefully, which I’ll be absolutely fine with. The way it started this week I would have been looking at a 2 lb, at least gain, but hopefully I’ve done enough. I won’t see a loss but I don’t want a gain during 6/6 but we’ll see tomorrow morning.

we’re back on the road tomorrow to see the surgeon who operated on my hand. Hopefully he’ll be giving me an idea of whether I have to have another operation (the physio hand specialist believes I will) or if I just have to live with two fingers being useless and like blocks of wood.

have a good Sunday. woohooo it’s my favourite day when I’m actually allowed chocolate.

TalkToTheHand123 · 19/07/2026 10:59

Hi all. Haven't weighed but feel a little slimmer. I've been taking a sachet of couscous with me through they day for the last week rather than tubs of granola. Seems to be helping. I often forget to eat. I've just started to eat salads again also. I forgot how much I like a salad and seems to be very filling. I had a lot of chicken and veg yesterday. I thought the tummy was going to explode. I'm having a lot of defrosted frozen fruits and yoghurts on an evening which helps to binge a little less. I have a tub of ice cream which I'm trying to make last rather than the ice cream cones which seem more addictive.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/07/2026 13:43

Thanks poorpaws. I am still feeling quite rough, I’m battling on though when I need to, but definitely under the weather.

@TalkToTheHand123 I love salad, it’s genuinely my favourite food. Couscous sounds good, you could really bulk it out with lots of finely chopped veg (red onion, peppers, cooked mushrooms and courgettes, and some feta maybe 🤔). It’s also not easy to eat quickly is it, so forces you to sit and eat mindfully. Good shout!

Happy birthday @thenewaveragebear1983 🥳🎂 it sucks you're not feeling well on your birthday though.

I love salad too, I really need to make my homemade dressing so it's easy to make a salad up. That and hard boiled eggs. Mmmmmm, hard boiled egg salad, I love it!

HazelNotHungryLC · 19/07/2026 18:31

@poorpaws that's good you drink lots, however, I do wonder if the diet coke is hindering your chances of success. I only mention it because for me, if I have something that tastes sweet, my body craves carbs. Not just chocolate and other sweet treats, but crisps and crackers as well. Also, I drink a lot of water and find that I need to add in an electrolyte drink or two as well or I'm overly thirsty
Good luck with your visit with the surgeon tomorrow, I really hope you get good news, you deserve it!

poorpaws · 19/07/2026 18:42

@thenewaveragebear1983 happy birthday. I am so sorry I completely forgot. I do hope you’re managing to enjoy the day despite feeling awful.

@HazelNotHungryLCyou are probably right and it has been mentioned to me before, I suppose I should really give up drinking so much of it.

I think I’ve messed up any chance of saying the same today. I’ve taken the treat day too literally and I’ve been eating all sorts of things and lots of fruit ice lollies because it’s so hot here again. I had a lovely long FaceTime chat with my long distance friend, but haven’t done much else all day apart from a deep hydrating cleanse on my hair which took ages.

I really am not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow.

HazelNotHungryLC · 19/07/2026 22:35

@poorpaws try not to beat yourself up! You could have done a lot worse as you did have some good days in there. I do wonder if your chocolate day should be a different day (or change your weigh in day to Sunday), as if I go crazy with food - especially sweet stuff - the scales show it the next day.

I haven't actually eaten anything yet today (I'm the the US so it's 3:30pm here), but did have 2 creamy coffees this morning. I'm starting to get hungry, but not starving. I have been drinking water though. I've been busy deep cleaning my bathrooms!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/07/2026 07:01

Using my weight from Friday as my official weigh in and I’m not even going near the scales today! It’s been a lovely but very food and drink heavy weekend, and I am not going to dwell on it one bit 🤣

just under 3 weeks until we go on holiday. I can’t wait! I put my nutracheck diary into copilot last week and got some honest feedback- too much cheese, wine and sugary snacks. So for 3 weeks I’m going to try to cut those out. I do love cheese but I eat it too often and I don’t really weigh it. I’m not going to attempt a drastic calorie cut but I do need to actually stick to my limits and focus myself.

today I plan to have yogurt and chia and strawberries. Lunch is going to be salad leaves and tuna with dressing, dinner I think will be leftovers of party food from yesterday.

poorpaws · 20/07/2026 07:24

@HazelNotHungryLC. My weigh-in day has been Sunday morning for this whole year and I changed it to Monday morning for the 6/6 challenge, I am changing it back to Sunday from now on (although I will continue with the 6/6).

@thenewaveragebear1983 I’m so pleased to hear you had a lovely birthday weekend and I wouldn’t go near the scales yet either.

are you feeling any better this morning? I hope you are. Are you going abroad for your holiday or staying in the Uk? Three weeks will fly by I’m sure, well it does in my life.

i managed to sts which I’m delighted with as it still means I’ve nearly done 6/6 in three weeks and I really didn’t want to gain any weight during it.

this week I plan to try a little harder with refusing treats and keep busy because it’s when I relax I crave food a lot more.

happy Monday everyone. I have to get ready for the hospital now. I have no idea what the surgeon is going to make of this hand and I’m intrigued to hear his explanation. I only hope he’s kind because I’ve worked so hard on physio to try to improve it.

poorpaws · 20/07/2026 14:44

The news from the hospital is not good. The physio specialist thinks I need an operation, the surgeon thinks I need a lot more physio. I am between a rock and a hard place. Physio Specialist said there’s nothing else he can do and ive got another appointment with him in 10 days so that he can find out from me what the surgeon said. They don’t agree with each other but I never see them together to discuss it. The surgeon wants to see me in three months after I’ve done more physio four times a day. The physio has told me before that what the surgeon is telling me to do will make no difference. The operation has failed but nether will admit it.

i feel awful today and wonder if they are both waiting for me to give in so both of them are off the hook. I just hope I don’t turn this drama and upset into a food fest, I don’t want to eat my feelings.
