Urgh, I weighed this morning and I am up to 11.5 😱 (that’s a 3.5lb gain if anyone is keeping track!) and it’s purely water retention, crappy carbs and hormones. Oh, and I have an insect bit on my foot, actually between my toes, and my foot is quite swollen from that so that’s probably a pound or 2 🤣) I’m on my period again which means I have had a 17 day cycle this time so the priority job today is to call the surgery and try to speak to a nurse or gp to review my HRT.

so all in all I feel very crabby today. I ran this morning which was nice, and I am going to eat protein and salad and drink lots of water today to try to flush out some of this water retention.

@thenewaveragebear1983we weigh exactly the same now EXCEPT I am very short, so you are a lot slimmer than me. I hope your mood improves and you feel better soon, you are doing really well even if you don’t think so atm.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/07/2026 20:49

My mood did improve a little, I should know better than to weigh in when it’s this hot, I am a big bag of water 💦 my food has been ok today, I’ve still ended up on 1700 calories though, 🤷‍♀️ but I did run this morning and did a very hot sweaty bootcamp after work. I was planning to have chicken with salad for dinner but i couldn’t face having the oven on for 90 mins so instead I did prawns on seafood sauce and a couple of falafel with salad. The swelling on my insect bitten foot has gone down a little and I can see 2 definite bite sites where something has clearly given me a nasty nip, I wonder if it might have been a spider rather than a fly / mozzie.,

tomorrow it’s another hot one. I’m doing well to keep hydrated and pretty cool During the bulk of the day by keeping the indoors cool and dark. I have done a little Tesco top up order of salads and lunch things, and a few ice creams and things as well. This weekend we are out Saturday and Sunday at various functions, I can totally do without it to be honest after working all week, I just want to veg out in the garden.

food tomorrow- absolute slim pickings until the shopping cones! Watermelon, berries, maybe some scrambled egg for lunch. Good opportunity to eat less and fast longer as there’s nothing in!

I'm feeling better but unfortunately eating better too. I couldn't resist carrot cake at a cafe. But am trying to keep on track and the weather helps because I eat a lot more salad and less bulky stuff.

poorpaws · 08/07/2026 21:46

Just back from a late dog walk, it’s still very hot here.

@thenewaveragebear1983and @Specialneedsnightmare
i’m pleased that both of you are feeling brighter and I hope it continues.

today has gone by so quickly. It’s been too hot to even go in the garden in the shade so I’ve stayed in the house all day and that’s why we’ve taken the out dogs very late.

Considering I’ve been alone inside all day and that’s when I usually overeat, I think I’ve done quite well. I must say the watermelon is really helping me a lot, I have a huge portion but it’s low in calories so having that for lunch I’ve got more calories for the evening when I’m grazing the cupboards.

I hope everyone stays positive and as usual, do the best you can.

TalkToTheHand123 · 09/07/2026 05:07

A new colleague has been leading me astray a little. Yesterday she brought in a caramel cake. I only had a small slice to be fair. I brought in a packet of couscous which kept me going and plan to keep doing this. I only have 2 sachets left so need to pop to shop at some point for more.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/07/2026 20:51

@TalkToTheHand123 I would find that hard, the beauty of working from home is that there’s no temptation except what I do to myself!

after a long hot day, we sat in the garden to eat and had a glass of wine. And a mint magnum. It’s still warm now, and annoyingly i actually have swollen glands and the start of a sore throat and earache which feels desperately unfair in a heatwave.

today I ate a protein and raspberries shake, not ideal but we had no food. At lunch I walked to the coop and got a pasta salad, 2 boiled eggs and a Pepsi max (not great but not the worst meal deal) and bulked the salad out with cucumber which was the only veg we had left. Tesco arrived at 7, then For dinner I had a roll with chicken, salad, cherry toms. A few crab sticks and a few strawberries. This would all have been great, but then wine + magnum happens 🤷‍♀️

this weekend we are out Saturday and Sunday although I am going to veto Saturday, it’s too hot and I don’t want to leave the dog 2 days. It’s very unlikely I will see a loss on Monday. The heat, plus time of the month, plus food/ drink etc will probably all impact, but i do plan to get up early and run tomorrow and Sunday so hopefully will counteract a bit.

our garden pod is being installed starting tomorrow, finishing Tuesday. I am so excited! We are going to have a home gym so I fully intend to introduce some proper weights into my routine

OP posts:
poorpaws · 09/07/2026 21:48

I’m just back again from a late dog walk and I feel shattered so I’m going to bed early.

Today has gone okay, again I didn’t eat much during the day so that I could eat more this evening. I’ve had a packet of low-fat crisps as my one treat, but everything else has been quite good.

@thenewaveragebear1983 A home gym sounds so exciting but also a little bit scary. I hope the installation goes well for you.

to say we’re doing 6/6, there’s not a lot of positive news on this thread 😃 i’m itching to get on those scales to see if I’ve lost anything so far, but I won’t do it because I said I wouldn’t.

HazelNotHungryLC · 10/07/2026 00:00

@thenewaveragebear1983 it definitely sounds like the swelling in your toe is where the gain is! 😂
A 17 day cycle sounds horrendous, so hopefully the can figure that out for you. That will most likely be the culprit.

@poorpaws watermelon is good! It helps with hydration too.

@TalkToTheHand123 hopefully your new coworker will stop bringing in treats soon, but if not she shouldn't get offended if you tell her you're eating healthy now and want to avoid cake. I'm the baker in the office, it wouldn't offend me!

So I'm back on track. I finally got my next dose up of wegovy pill and started that on Wednesday. I'm listening to my body and not putting as much food on my plate. I also started logging my food into mfp again.

On the 1st I weighed 167.9lbs.
On the 8th I weighed 168.1lbs
Yet today, the 9th, I weighed 167.1lbs.
My lowest weight in that time was 165.4lbs on the 3rd, which shows how much my weight can fluctuate in a week!
I do weigh daily, it helps me keep on track, but know it's not for everyone.

HazelNotHungryLC · 10/07/2026 00:12

@thenewaveragebear1983 we have a home gym. We have a weights bench, bar, dumbbells. I have a spin bike and a yoga mat as well. Do they get used?? Ummmmm.... occasionally.
Hopefully yours will get more use. You sound a lot more active than me!

Specialneedsnightmare · 10/07/2026 09:57

It's going pretty well for me although I think it's fluke more than anything. I'm 9 stone 10 at the moment but will see what the situation is on Monday. I was 9 stone 11.4 initially.

Specialneedsnightmare · 10/07/2026 17:01

Interestingly,my period has just started after months of none! Maybe this has some bearing on the weight loss!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/07/2026 19:18

@HazelNotHungryLC I do have the equipment but don’t really use it that much, but I am determined to get 3 sessions a week- I know I will see good results if I do because I am plateauing so the additional will give me a boost. I have this vision of secretly working out all winter then in spring I shall be unveiled like an emerging butterfly 🦋

i have found out that I can download my nutracheck diary and send it to my email and then today I got copilot to review it, honestly it was very eye opening. It was so helpful to review the whole week and genuinely the suggestions made were really helpful, i highly recommend trying it if you know how. The verdict- food is good. Too much cheese and high saturated fat food. Too many sugary titbits too much wine. I did sort of know this but it really struck a chord with me. I am going to do it weekly I think and try the suggestions.

Good morning
me and my ds “camped” last night outside under the stars in the garden, it was not the most comfortable night but it was fun, he’s only 10 and we watched shooting stars and talked about space. Currently sat drinking coffee while he is still asleep 💤 we have both been really struggling with the hot stuffy bedrooms so it was nice to get fresh air all night! The downside was we ate so much , we toasted marshmallows and ate biscuits and I had a few wines 🤣 but it was fun and they are only little once and no regrets

today though, I need to knuckle down. I am at the hygienist this morning then I am planning a nice relaxing day of lazing around in the sun and possibly should at least attempt some domestic chores as the house looks like a frat house after spring break 🤣 dh and the older boy are going to a football day, I am not. Then this evening they are talking about going to to our friends to watch the football, I have zero interest and really can’t be bothered with drinking from 7 when everyone is already smashed and it’s hot. Foodwise- I liked my little chat with copilot yesterday and I am going to take its advice so I am thinking more protein, more veg, try and eat less fatty sugary extras (cheese, ice creams) and generally just be on plan.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 11/07/2026 07:22

@thenewaveragebear1983 what a lovely fun mum you are, he’ll always remember last night.

I hope I don’t go off track today, I’m feeling a bit stressed and down and that’s usually when I eat too many snacks and chocolate. So far I’ve tried to keep under 1500 cals so that I can lose a pound a week but I think I was a little bit over yesterday.

DP really made me cross last night when we did the dog walk so I sent him a text asking him not to come today as I don’t want to live with an atmosphere. That will not go down well. he also lost my dog lead and tried to blame me, even though he had taken the lead off the dog and I hadn’t gone anywhere near it. I feel quite ratty and cross with him.

So unexpectedly, I should be home alone unless he comes down for a reconciliation which I’m not really up for. I plan to do very little even though my house needs a thorough clean, it’s just too hot. I plan to try and eat sensibly but left to my own devices I know from experience today and tomorrow could be a disaster.

I wore a top yesterday which I felt was a bit small and not too comfortable so it’s made me realise I need to keep on track.

TalkToTheHand123 · 11/07/2026 08:30

Thanks @HazelNotHungryLC . It's more my lack of willpower to say no.
I'm back making my veg soup / drinks. I've been buying frozen fruit again also. Hopefully I can get back on track.

forgotmyusername1 · 11/07/2026 13:17

Not been on here for a few months but i finally hit my 5kg mini goal (was aiming for end of june so 10 days later than planned)

Overall sw 124kg
Started on here in may 99kg
Cw - 94kg

What i am pleased about is using the body composition scales at the gym since i started tracking in mid feb (was 15kg down at this point) i have lost 15kg and of that 14kg is fat and 1kg muscle. It is definately a good idea to track this to get an overall picture.

Will read back and catch up. Next mini target is 89kg by 1st sept

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/07/2026 15:57

@forgotmyusername1 that’s good. Do you only use the scales at the gym? I am tempted to get some body comp scales but not sure which to try

OP posts:
poorpaws · 12/07/2026 07:05

@forgotmyusername1 you’re doing well and seeing good results, I’m sure you’ll meet your next mini target.

its still going ok here but with a decent loss last week I don’t think I can expect any great news from the scales tomorrow so I’ll be happy with half a pound.

im still doing late walks but spent most of yesterday trying to clean my kitchen blinds. I suppose I really could do with new ones but I’ve got two kitchen windows and the blind above the sink has got splattered over the years so I’m just trying to make them last a little longer. Up and down steps, reaching and stretching must have been a good little workout.

as you know, Sunday is my temptation struggle day so after last Sundays disaster I’ve decided I’m allowing myself chocolate for just one day a week. I suppose it’s the same as wine drinkers who just have a glass Friday or Saturday night. Honestly I’m like an addict (which I suppose I am), every day I’ve been thinking about chocolate Sunday and this morning it was my first thought as I woke up.

after checking Tony’s calories (900/1000 a bar) I decided against that, it’s nearly a whole days calories in one bar. I bought Daim bars at 152 cals and I’ve decided I can have two throughout the day.

i hope you re all still with me on 6/6, it’s not sounding b too positive in here yet.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/07/2026 07:31

Morning. I’m still with you on principle on 6/6 but in practice I think I’ve eaten too much and drunk too much wine. I also feel totally bloated with the heat. It’s a bit cooler this morning and forecast looks to be a pleasant 28 all week instead of in the 30’s

we have a family bbq today, I’m going to really endeavour to load up on salad and have less meat/ burger/ cheese, and I’m not going to drink today. I am not sure I’ll see a loss tomorrow on the scales though.

my plan this week ahead though is to focus on protein. I never really track macros, but my copilot analysis last week showed that my protein Sources are not good quality (burgers, cheese, etc) and I don’t get a good balance of protein and carbs. So that’s going to be my aim, and to cut back on sugary treats (ice creams mainly as I have been eating a few in the heat). It is however my birthday next weekend 🤔

TalkToTheHand123 · 13/07/2026 00:06

Hi all. Currently feel like I'm going to explode, I've ate so much. I finished the cherry cake I got yesterday 😮. I plan to buy no more until I am at my goal weight. I've stocked up on cous cous for my mobile lunches. I plan to drink some cold soup before I leave the house then some more when I get home. I have stocked up on frozen fruits and yoghurts also.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/07/2026 06:52

Urgh Monday again! The weekend was great, lots of socialising and seeing family but so much food and so much wine! I don’t think I dare to weigh in yet, I might call it a maintain this week!

OP posts:
poorpaws · 13/07/2026 07:52

Sunday Treat Day went well after last weeks Sunday disaster. I enjoyed my chocolate early afternoon and then again late evening and hopefully won’t have any more until next Sunday. I also had a fruit ice lolly instead of a Magnum, a packet of low fat crisps and Wotsits but I made sure my calories, although higher than the rest of the week, didn’t go high enough to actually gain weight.

the scales this morning were very kind, 2 lbs off which I didn’t expect, that’s 5.75 in two weeks 😃 and this progress is making me very happy. A big thank you to @thenewaveragebear1983for suggesting 6/6 because it’s given me a kick up the backside which I needed.

usual grocery shop today and I’ll buy a lot of fruit, strawberries, bananas, grapes, watermelon all on my list and also lots of salad, prawns too,

after an horrendous few weeks, I feel I might be back on track but I’m whispering because I could see a huge gain next week knowing what I’m like.

have a great weigh-in.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/07/2026 18:19

You did so well @poorpaws, well done! My weigh in was dreadful, so much so that it cannot possibly be anything except bloat/ water weight so I will weigh again on Wednesday and hopefully will have flushed some out!

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/07/2026 20:02

I will update further though and say i have actually had a really good day today, I am ending up on 1400 cals, I did 2 short dog walks and bootcamp. That’s a great start to the week for me. At about 2-3pm I was so hungry I was rattling around the kitchen, I was tired and bored and just craved anything, but it passed and I was ok.

tomorrow I will need to buy lunch at work, it is a lovely canteen but usually I get a sandwich or wrap because of the queue for hot food. And dinner is going to be gnocchi and pesto 😋
