Sorry you’ve had a tough day @poorpaws, hopefully on 20th you will get some answers

I had a long week. I am working hard at the moment, and I feel it by the end of the week. Looking forward to a sunny weekend sorting the garden out. My food has been good mostly this week, although I don’t think I’m getting the balance of carbs /protein etc right. Next week I’m going to make that my focus I think. On the plus side though I am feeling like I have a bit more energy generally, I am eating good quality food and remembering to take my vitamins which i forgot all last week 🤷‍♀️

This week has been a bit rubbish for me. I'm hoping I won't have gained as I very much doubt I will have lost anything. I went out for lunch again yesterday and I almost never do that. But it's a learning curve and I think I need to focus on eating little and often so my blood sugar doesn't drop too long. Histamine issues affect blood sugar and cause excessive hunger. I think high protein low carb is the best way to go but I'm not that big a fan of meat so it's difficult. I do eat it but don't have much taste for it and meat on the bone makes me feel sick.

Anyway, whatever my weight is on Monday I will use as fuel to do better next week..

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2026 17:31

@TalkToTheHand123 the Linda McCartney red onion ones are really good and very low calorie compared to real sausages.

I worked hard today. I ran 10km early, and then all morning and afternoon we have grafted in the garden. Hacking back shrubs and chopping brambles and bindweed and just generally a ruthless haircut of the borders, I dislike gardening and it’s a chore to me but I have neglected it too long so it was a real jungle. Then I went to the tip and am now enjoying the view!

We’re nearing the end of week 1 of our challenge and I’m getting desperate to see our losses -hopefully! I felt sure I’d gone over my 1,500 cal limit today but I don’t think I have. I started with breakfast as usual, porridge and half a banana. For lunch I made bacon sandwiches but hadn’t realised I only had thick toasting bread, so more calories than I’d hoped to eat and a lot more than the watermelon I’ve been eating all week.

I’m actually just under the 1,500 cals but I’m fancying a treat as it is Saturday night. Why I have to have a treat because it’s a certain day I do not know and nearing the end of week 1 I don’t want to chance sabotaging my good work.

so how is everyone feeling about the first week and do you think you did well? @Specialneedsnightmare I see you have had a struggle but I love your positive attitude for doing better next week😀

ever the optimist I am hoping I’ve lost loads of weight 😂 but whatever the result I know I’ve given it my all this week so fingers crossed for all of us.b

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2026 20:11

@poorpawsi think it’s possible I will have lost 1lb, in fact I now do a different weigh strategy where I weigh myself multiple times during the week and record my lowest weight that week, which may seem odd but actually my weight fluctuates so much with water retention that I can never tell exactly. I heard on a podcast the lady said it’s much harder to get a false low reading than a false high so I took that as my guidance! And I guess if the range I weigh is gradually creeping down then that’s a loss overall? 🤞 I am very close to the 10st bracket now, I think I am around 11.2 so hopefully I will see that soon.

next week I am going to really aim for low carbs and to keep very diligently to my calories at least Monday to Friday. We’re forecast a glorious week here so lots of salads and chicken I think.

poorpaws · 04/07/2026 20:18

@thenewaveragebear1983 Ive been doing well on salads and prawns so might switch to chicken next week too. It might be my imagination but the skirt I wore today feels looser on the waistband 🤞, it’s quite a light floaty skirt with an elasticated band so that’s probably why it feels looseb but I’m kidding myself I’ve lost a stone this week 🤣

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/07/2026 07:42

@poorpawsi always do well if I prep a big batch of what I refer to as ‘chopped salad” by which I mean just a big bowl of cucumber, tomato, some sort of grain, peppers, chicken/prawn, maybe some cooked mushrooms and courgettes or sweet potato all cooled, you could add sweetcorn but I hate it! mixed together and then I elect a dressing of choice which I add either to the mix or on the side. I can then do a big scoop of this for my lunches every day, add lettuce and avocado when serving. I do love salads but they have to be interesting. I don’t think it will be your imagination, your waistband will be looser.

i worked really hard yesterday and did over 20k steps. I’d caught the sun a little and we sat in the garden enjoying the warm evening. I am not drinking today though, I feel like I overdid it, and I am not staying up to watch the football either so a nice early bed for me!

My family are coming for a sandwich lunch and catch up which will be nice. I am going to take the dog out and because I ran yesterday I am not going today, and instead I’m going to do a core workout. For food today I’m putting out some nice homemade sandwich fillers and bread rolls, salad etc and strawberries and cream. Not low calorie per se but easy to pick what I want and leave the other bits.

as I said yesterday (I think) my goal this week is to increase my protein and focus on that, and stick within my calories. I have increased my allowance to 1600 which is still a deficit if I exercise, but I must tired of aiming low and not managing it. I think overall I eat less this way.

I’m back from a very early morning dog walk and it’s already roasting hot here. I’ve opened all the windows and there’s just no air. Some people are walking their dogs now but it’s far too hot already.

today I had planned a lot of housework but it’s just too hot. I’ve got washing to do and some hand washing too but it might just end up being a lazy day. I didn’t have breakfast before the walk because if I eat at 6 am I’m really hungry by 11, so my next job is to eat.

have a lovely day in the sunshine everyone and try for a final push before the official weigh-in tomorrow. I wonder who will get slimmer of the week 😃

TalkToTheHand123 · 05/07/2026 15:20

Sunshine? Cloudy and raining here. Didn't stop me popping to the pub for a couple of cokes though. Catching up on a little housework since it's too wet and cold to be in the garden.
Ate too much and late last night. Gave me a bit of an upset tummy. Hot water seems to help me stop binging a little. Planning for a chicken Sunday dinner soon. I'm trying to keep away from the mountain of rice that was cooked for me but didn't request!
Ideally I'd like to put some rubbish in the archway but the neighbour has put a new lock on the gate and not gave me a key. 😡

HazelNotHungryLC · 05/07/2026 17:49

Sorry I haven't been keeping up on posting. It's been a crazy week here!
We had a BBQ yesterday, I burned some calories in the pool with a couple of kids, but ate too much of course 🫣
I had been pretty good in the week, no snacking, eating less, but I still haven't been logging my meals in mfp, which is what I need to do. So that's the plan starting tomorrow (we still have leftovers from the BBQ 😂).

I do have to confess, I had been taking wegovy in pill form, for a month. I did get a new prescription, but it is out of stock. I'll have to call the pharmacy tomorrow to see how much longer it'll be. I haven't had any for a week though, but didn't notice too much of a difference on it (1.5mg dose, so the lowest dose), other than an upset stomach after eating yogurt.
I'm prescribed the 4mg now, but haven't been able to get it yet.
I'm sorry, I should have said something, but didn't think about it as it hasn't done much for me yet.

I'm hoping to use the wegovy as a way to stay focused and eat low carb. The longer I eat that way, the easier it gets to say no, so it's not something I hope is a miracle in any way, or long term, just as a boost to quiet the food noise.

I would understand if you'd rather me not post anymore, just let me know. I was just looking for some accountability.

poorpaws · 05/07/2026 20:51

@HazelNotHungryLC when we first began here quite a long time ago, it was set up without judgement and with great kindness. There has never been any rules as such, we are all following different dieting paths to try to lose weight so whatever method is chosen is absolutely fine and I hope you continue to post here as there is a lot of support for everyone.

oh goodness, six days of angelic dieting from me, absolutely smashing every day until today. I’ve gone so far off track it’s unbelievable. I’ve been in and out of the kitchen all day and I have not stopped putting food into my mouth for one moment. What should have been a mammoth victory tomorrow could now be a disaster, all for one day without control.

what I have learned is that Sunday is my problem day and next week I will have a chocolate bar, enjoy it and then stop the mindless eating of anything and everything I can lay my hands on. I haven’t even enjoyed all the absolute crap I’ve eaten and it’s all high calorie. I had no chocolate in so I’ve been eating sweets I don’t even really like to try to reduce the sugar cravings. This must not happen again and next Sunday I will be more aware. A chocolate bar, just one, has been added to the shopping list.

so tomorrow will not be so good for me, my own fault but I will learn for next week.

i hope tomorrows weigh-in is good for everyone else.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/07/2026 20:53

@HazelNotHungryLC of course you can stay on the group, we have had people who have been on WLI on here before (I think they all got skinny and left 😜) and it doesn’t matter if you post loads or just occasionally. Whatever suits you.

my plans went to shit today. I ended up drinking (blame a lovely sunny afternoon) and I ran yesterday not today, and I ate loads of nice buffet food which was fairly healthy but just lots of it.

OP posts:
Specialneedsnightmare · 05/07/2026 21:19

No judgement from me as weight loss is often hard and I'm glad for anyone who finds any method that works for them.

I haven't eaten much today as my health isn't the best. I had a decent low fat main meal and did have a chocolate bar afterwards but only toast this evening. No idea what my weight will be tomorrow compared to last Monday.

I think it's great that we are all trying and persevering as this stuff isn't easy!

HazelNotHungryLC · 06/07/2026 00:02

Thank you all! I will try to post more often.

I haven't made the best food choices today, but I haven't eaten much either.
I also haven't moved much today, but I fell down the last 3 steps of our stairs yesterday evening and I'm hurting a little. Hopefully I'll be less achy tomorrow and can fit more movement in.

@poorpaws I understand the chocolate! Although I have some in the fridge right now (was for camping last weekend - & I didn't have any! ), I haven't been tempted. However, I know that this coming week will be hard for me as I'm due on my period and my hormones go crazy still. I'll try to resist though and save it for next weekend's camping trip, if I even have any then.

I weigh daily and it's not looking good as of this morning, but anything can happen overnight.

poorpaws · 06/07/2026 07:33

If only I hadn’t had a binge from hell yesterday this weigh-in would have been amazing. As it is I’m 11 st 5 lbs, so have lost 3.75 lbs this week which is not too shabby and over halfway to 6 lbs off. If only I can focus properly, I can do this.

grocery shopping this morning and I will buy another watermelon because that has been a big help at lunchtime. The rest of the shop will be lots of salad, jacket potatoes and I might buy a chicken or more prawns because the prawns are so low calorie and fill a protein hole.

I hope everyone has a really good weigh-in this morning 🤞

Specialneedsnightmare · 06/07/2026 09:58

A loss of 3.75ibs is amazing! Be proud! That's only in a week so it just shows what's possible going forwards. The target was one pound so you massively superseded that.

Surprisingly I've also had a loss despite everything. Not a big one- basically 0.9 of a pound- but that's nearly on target and not a gain so I'm pleased with it.

TalkToTheHand123 · 06/07/2026 17:07

I've caught myself in the mirror a couple of times recently and look huge so trying to think what I can do🤔

I look awful side on. I have the classic menopause overhanging belly!

poorpaws · 07/07/2026 08:26

yesterday was really busy so I didn’t have time to overeat. Two supermarkets in the morning, a quick lunch of strawberries and yogurt and then I went into a nearby town to take some clothes back to the shop, bought online. I had a quick look around a few shops and tried a few clothes on that looked awful. I was so upset with the state of the place, scruffy with a lot of empty shops, it was so sad. I was also shocked at how many dogs were out with heavy dense coats when the sun was at its most powerful, stupid owners.

by the time I got back and ate a salad with pasta, chicken and prawn I received a text from Dd to say she was bringing her new(ish) partner to meet us. We sat in the garden until nearly 9 getting to know him and he seems lovely. As soon as they left we walked the dogs and just got back before dark. It was a very active day, I must have done a lot of steps so I fell into bed later than usual. It is true that when you’re busy, you don’t eat nearly so much and definitely you don’t eat mindlessly.

Instead of getting up early this morning, we’re walking the dogs late evening again. I’ve not got much to do today apart from housework and physio on my hand so I might sit in the shade of a parasol in the garden.

I am still trying hard to do well on 6/6 and I hope everyone else is doing well. I could kill for a large ice cream though 😀

I'm in the same boat, was thinking I looked okay, but all of a sudden I see myself in the mirror and I'm definitely bigger than I thought 😪

Well done on losses! I'll be doing my weigh in tomorrow. It won't quite be a week, but it'll be close and will give me time to maybe lose what I gained over the weekend (BBQ).

I have to go grocery shopping today so I'll make some healthier choices. I'm thinking I'm going to have DH grill up some chicken and I'll make my salad dressing for salads.
Time to focus & log everything in mfp, as I still haven't done that yet.

HazelNotHungryLC · 07/07/2026 14:41

@poorpaws I think you're right regarding keeping busy and not mindlessly eating. I know I have a problem with that.

I'm trying to just have healthy options around, but with living with a teenage DS and DH, who both like to snack on junk food, it can be hard!
It's fine when it's something I don't like, but that's not always the case.

TalkToTheHand123 · 07/07/2026 17:51

Not a great day today. Unable to refrain from entering Burger King and Greggs when on my travels. Making lots of soup as going for my liquid diet approach again.

Specialneedsnightmare · 07/07/2026 20:04

I have a dodgy stomach and no appetite. As a result my weight is falling. I wouldn't recommend it but certainly not complaining.

poorpaws · 07/07/2026 20:50

@Specialneedsnightmare I am so sorry to hear this, I hope you make a speedy recovery very soon.

i looked after DDs dog so that she could go out all day today, she bought me a galaxy McFlurry as a thank you (which of course was completely unnecessary), 359 cals 🤦🏼‍♀️, I ate it 🤷‍♀️

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/07/2026 21:17

I haven’t caught up on all the posts yet, hope everyone is doing well. I felt like I’d had a good day today, I had yogurt and strawberries for breakfast , salad at work which I took with me and weighed, and another salad for dinner, all weighed. At work I had a cookie and after tea I made a protein smoothie as I just fancied something cold and sweet. Calculated my calories and it comes to over 1900 today! I ate 2 bloody salads ffs 🤦‍♀️ this is exactly why I find it so hard to cut calories enough to lose weight! I genuinely don’t know how people can consistently eat 1400 cals and eat what they say they eat (I don’t mean you lovely ladies, I mean instagram videos where they have plates of food- they must be teeny weeny plates 🤷‍♀️)

anyway. Tomorrow, a new day, I will eat even less food than I did today 😢
