Hey all. Not sure if this is the right place for this. But is anyone planning a weight loss journey in the new year and want to start an accountability thread? I have gained so much weight this year with an injury and I need to get it off to sort my health out. Hopefully there are some like minded people in here and we can support each other x

Me! (Again)

OrangeOzzy · 27/12/2025 20:20

What is your plan? I'm going to start by getting out walking every day hopefully and getting back to intermittant fasting.

justaddittothelist · 27/12/2025 20:21

Yip.

Iv got at least a stone to lose after having a baby in the summer.

I was doing pretty well until a couple of months ago wheniv fell off the wagon again and started eating rubbish.

Aiming to properly start again on the 5th of January as that's when my fitness classes start back (and hopefully all the Christmas treats are gone!)

Catchafallingstar7 · 27/12/2025 20:22

Hello! I am. I’d love some accountability. Can I join?

Plan of action: at home workouts, short runs or long walks (not on the same day!) and focus on healthy whole foods with correct portion size.

What’s your game plan? Xxx

henlake7 · 27/12/2025 20:42

Yup, I'm back on the wagon!
I lost 7st a couple of years ago but the last few months I've slipped alot (and Christmas was a total disaster). I have put 2st back on so really need to get to grips with my disordered eating.
Started today! My usual weight training and cardio, also walked 10k steps and have gone back to the diet that works best for me (vegan wholefood).

Bringmebacktothe90s · 27/12/2025 20:50

My game plan will be hitting 10k steps a day no matter what excuse my brain can come up with. Also sticking to my calories and strength training.

What I am going to try this time is smaller mini goals. I always get so disheartened when scales don’t move as quickly as I want them to, then I eat a load of crap and have to start again.

I have PCOS and apparently that can make weight loss a little bit more tricky. But I am not letting that get in my way mentally.

This time I am aiming for consistency and if I mess up, I restart right away. Rather than eating way over my calories for around 2 weeks until I get back on the wagon. I am not doing that this time!

Me and have decided to start today (Sunday 28th).

I am eating and drinking far too much. Sleeping badly and feel sluggish so aim is for 1400 Calories, 11,000 steps and a huge reduction in wine.

Weighed in and was 10st 6.2 pounds and would love to be 10st. I keep losing and regaining the same 5 pounds - definition of stupid😁

DonewhatIcando · 27/12/2025 22:04

Im in!
Started yesterday, got a bit of a home gym in the garage (nothing posh) hit it hard.
Today my body is screaming in agony, had to get my 20 month old grandson to pull me out of my chair, luckily he's a bit of a unit and he actually pulled me up 😁
I'll be ready to be back in action by the New Year them I'm in!

Catchafallingstar7 · 28/12/2025 15:06

Hi all just checking in. I’ve got a headache today which I’m pretty sure is due to sugar withdrawal! My body is asking why I haven’t eaten trifle for breakfast.

but I’ve weighed in this morning, did a short but sweet YouTube workout (I enjoy Grow with Jo) and went on an outdoor walk for about 40 mins. I’ve lost my watch charger! So I’ve ordered a new one ready for next week so I can better track my steps and activity.

good luck - we got this.

Slight amendment to my post.

We got together with friends last night and all thoughts of eating sensibly disappeared.

Weight now 10st 7lbs.🙄

henlake7 · 28/12/2025 21:32

Good day today. Pilates and cardio in the morning then did 14k steps (dog walks and visit to out of town cinema).
Diet has been healthy too. I've decided not to weigh myself or count calories this month. My emphasis is going to be on healthy choices and exercise instead.

AuntyBulgaria · 28/12/2025 21:35

I'm up for this. Until about 9 months ago I was really fit - did loads of running/cycling etc and then perimenopause hit like a ton of bricks and my aerobic fitness fell of a cliff overnight.

My runs got harder and my legs stiffer I ran less so I got less fit - vicious circle!

I have also put on a stone in weight right round my middle and I need to do something about it before it gets worse.

I've started going to the gym to do some strength - which I don't love. I also went on the rowing machine which I did kind of like.

Weight today 11 stone 6lbs.

ADogRocketShip · 29/12/2025 11:46

I have been losing weight in 2025 and continuing into 2026, as weight loss takes so bloody long for me (PCOS + quite short (5ft 1.5), meaning my cals have to be low even for maintenance!). Thankfully, as its slow weight loss I have found that I've been able to have breaks here and there without piling loads back on and my baseline seems to have trended down - so I've made peace with slow and steady being the best way forward!

I am 10lbs down on last year, and need to lose a further 8/9lbs to get to goal. Let myself be flexible over xmas, and weighed in today at 9st 5.8lbs.

I was doing loads of exercise first half of the year, but it tailed off with darker evenings/mornings. I do 10k steps a day as my aim and got a walking pad to use at my desk when working which helps enormously! I'm aiming to add strength workouts and pilates back in from Jan...but finding time is really tough with 2 young kids, working FT and a my job being particularly busy at the moment! Daily cals limit is 1,200-1,400 depending on how active I've been.

Logicalthink · 29/12/2025 11:50

I need to also loose weight, being on steroids for various health conditions this year for around 8 months I've put on 3 stone that I need to shift

Jillybloop393 · 29/12/2025 11:56

Yes please (gingerly dipping a toe into this idea). I have a spa day in April with work colleagues ... they've never had to see my blobby, porridge-like body before, I'm the oldest, and the fattest. I need help!

Introvert80 · 29/12/2025 13:36

I'm up for this. I started yesterday with an hour of badminton and a two mile treadmill run. I'd highly recommend Jamie Kinkeade's Walkdance for a good home workout (available on YouTube). Currently 9 stone but I'd like to get down to 8 by Easter.

tammie49 · 29/12/2025 15:47

I'm a big fan of intermittent fasting. I teach part time so during term time I have 2 days a week where I fast until dinner (just black coffee and peppermint tea) and then on the other days I either skip or delay breakfast (except when exercising). I started this again in November when I had a kidney scan and was told my liver was fatty (early stage). All blood tests were normal range so I'm hoping to reverse it. Have lost a stone so far. I feel like something has switched in my brain since that scan. I actually think January is a crappy time to make resolutions and I never do it. I think the motivation hits us as different times for different reasons.

Failedcrunchymum · 29/12/2025 21:50

Ok I'm joining. 68kg today and I want to get down to 65 initially and then take it gradually down to 61kg, if I can. That was my pre-peri weight, and despite having fairly healthy habits it just keeps creeping on now.

Catwoman8 · 29/12/2025 22:00

Food is the issue for me, I really need to start making changes but I find it hard in winter.
I am relatively fit ,but I am overweight and it is definitely what I am eating rather than lack of exercise.

I have had a couple of weeks off over xmas, but back at it today with a short 3km run, and I got some new dumbbells for christmas so I plan to do a workout tomorrow! 💪

Swearwolf · 30/12/2025 10:47

Can I join you all please? I braved the scales this morning and it’s bad!

I spent the last couple of years losing and gaining the same stone but I was on a good one for the last year and was doing ok. I’d got under 10 stone at last, which is still overweight because I’m short, and was feeling good about the last half stone or so. I tend to measure in KG because it has no emotion attached to it, but my brain always converts it later! I hovered between 62.5 and 64kg all year. This morning I was 65.7!!! Disaster.

My problem has been work. I’ve worked from home for years and have a good routine with running and yoga and the ability to make a decent lunch. New company rules have been brought in and we have to go into an office three times a week, so I have less opportunity to run and I’ve been buying lunches. I need to make lunches ahead of time and make sure I can get more exercise in on office days. Just need to be more disciplined with myself.

My first goal is to be 64kg by the middle of January, 63.5kg by the end of the month. 62.5 by the end of February will put me back in the healthy weight bracket and under 25 bmi.

Countrycritter · 30/12/2025 19:37

Joining as I need accountability!
I am currently 13st and my aim is 10st, managed to pile on the pounds from three pregnancies with the most recent one being identical twins.
Not looking for a fast fix but long term change, I have previously lost 2 stone through intermittent fasting and cutting out processed sugar. So planning on doing that again. I’m fairly active but also could do better with weighted workouts, but it’s hard with 4 little ones under foot.

Catchafallingstar7 · 30/12/2025 19:57

Also finding it a challenge with winter, festive food still in the house and three children at home needing constant snacks and entertainment. That being said - I’m pleased about the changes I’ve made already and it’s not even January so we’ve got a head start. I’ve got about two stone to lose and haven’t got a deadline as such but definitely don’t want to be feeling sluggish like I am in the spring. It’s already getting slightly easier saying “no thank you” to things.

I’ve been doing research about the benefits of walking so, as well as three weight workouts a week, I’m trying to incorporate walking pretty much daily (as and when I can is more realistic a goal though).

I’ve successfully ignored many temptations but being realistic about not being too restrictive. It has be something I can stick to.

happy new year everyone.

Catlady1982 · 30/12/2025 20:14

I need to do something, I’ve become incredibly sedentary over the last year after being the very opposite in the prior 7 years. I found an activity I loved but had to give it up due to a variety of reasons and I haven’t substituted it with anything else. Im the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life and I feel sluggish and weak having felt very strong a few years ago. I’ve had a recent ADHD diagnosis and am terrible at getting started with anything and building habits so I don’t even know where to start. I have a few bits of equipment at home I can make use of and I’m thinking of getting out for a walk at lunchtime (I WFH).

blizymitzy · 30/12/2025 21:22

I’m in too please. Started today at 162.4 aiming for 119 as I’m short so a long way to go. First goal is 159 which I want to do by the end of January. I’m aiming to up the walking, do couch to fit and stop any evening eating.
