Hey all. Not sure if this is the right place for this. But is anyone planning a weight loss journey in the new year and want to start an accountability thread? I have gained so much weight this year with an injury and I need to get it off to sort my health out. Hopefully there are some like minded people in here and we can support each other x

Thanks for the welcome @Swearwolf and yes, it's infuriating when you hit a plateau, especially when you've been careful. I find my weight can fluctuate a lot from day to day, so as long as the overall trajectory is down I don't worry too much. Congratulations @HurdyGurdy19 and please don't be embarrassed. I'm 5' 4" and I've been a lot, lot heavier at times than you are now. No judgement.

I realise I didn't put my 'vital stats' in my intro post so here they are:

SW (this time round!): 11st 2
CW: 10st 12
GW: 10st

But really my goal is to keep the weight off long-term and get off this endless cycle of yo-yo dieting.

Swearwolf · 31/01/2026 09:34

Yay, 0.8kg down this morning! It’s still fluctuating a lot so I have no doubt it won’t stay that way, but the average/range is going downwards so I’m happy with that! Back under 64kg, and am about 1lb shy of being under 10 stone.

although I haven’t been perfect with my diet etc, I’ve definitely been better and have been more consistent with exercise, and it’s nice to feel like it’s working. My next little goal is 1.5kg in February, small but achievable.

Congratulations @Swearwolf - great result.

I've had a good week with no slips off the bandwagon, and I'm down 2lb to 10st 10 lb. Very happy with that. From here on in I'll be happy with losing 1lb a week, or 4lb a month as my real goal is long-term stability, not another bout of losing weight only to put it back on. But I'll take this week's win!

How is everyone getting on?

HurdyGurdy19 · 10/02/2026 11:08

Today was Week 5 of the 12 week Step Into Fitness programme that the GP referred me to, and when we were doing knee lifts and lunges etc, I could lift my knees much higher than I could at the beginning. So something is working.

Weighed in this morning, and have lost another 3lbs - go me! From the starting point in September when I was 16st 1lb / 102.1kg / BMI 41.4, today I am 13st 8lb / 86.2kg / BMI 30

Still awful numbers, but they are moving in the right direction, and I am feeling positive.

HurdyGurdy19 · 10/02/2026 11:30

Ooops, don't want to lie. Made a typo above, and the BMI is actually 35.0

Well done @HurdyGurdy19. I did really well all of last week, but then succumbed to temptation - Aldi had their "Seal bars" (like penguins, only cheaper) on special offer, two six-packs for £1.50. I knowingly lied to myself when I bought them that I'd have one a day but that never happens and of course I ate the lot after my evening meal on Saturday. I skipped my Sunday morning weigh-in because I knew it would be artificially high after a carb-fest the night before. Weighed myself this morning, and it's exactly the same as last week, so could be worse.

I knew when I bought the biscuits that I'd eat them in a single evening. If I hadn't bought them I wouldn't have missed them. I don't know why I do this to myself.

Totally get you - I have no control on a multipack and it’s so hard to resist. You’ve got this - a bad day doesn’t have to become a bad week.
