Posting for accountability - Weight Loss Diary

I was doing really well with weight loss and managed to drop 2.5stone. Unfortunately I’ve gained a stone back and now would like to become motivated to head in the right direction again. Created this thread so I can do my daily weigh ins with accountability I.e if I miss a weigh in or continuously gain then I’ll be embarrassed enough to do something about it (or I’ll have to disappear and name change 😂) When I’m committed to weight loss, I find daily weigh ins help me to stay on track although I only really take notice of the overall loss/gain on a weekly basis. I know there are lots of weight loss chat threads but I struggle to keep up with them and then feel guilty for posting in them without acknowledging previous posts and other people’s journey.

First weigh in will be in the morning but I think I’m around 11st 10lbs and 5ft 3ins right now.

Well done for your amazing weight loss so far OP.
I know you said it motivates you to weigh each day but is that really a good idea when there will be daily fluctuations anyway which could disillusion you?
All the professional advice is to weigh weekly. Could you post daily with your plans for the day food/exercise wise instead?
Ignore me if that isn’t helpful.
Good luck anyway. I’ll be interested in how you get on as I’m shorter and heavier than you ☹️

Thank you @BakedandBroken

I’m aware of the daily fluctuations depending upon how much water I’ve drank, sleep I’ve had and monthly cycles etc. Weighing daily is a little excessive, I know, but it gives me the motivation to stay on track as I know I’m weighing in the morning and it becomes part of my daily routine. It also helps me to make sure I try not to eat after a certain time as I know I have to weigh in the morning. I only acknowledge losses/gains on a weekly basis as despite doing the above, I know that i fluctuate .

I have always found that I gain weight quite quickly when I go off track so weighing daily keeps things steady and makes me more self aware. I used to go from being a size 6 to a 16 in a short space of time. 😭 Now that I’ve got older, I struggle with losing weight and need accountability as I still gain very quickly even if I can’t lose quickly! I know weighing daily doesn’t work for everybody. I may also end up posting my exercise/food diary as that’s another area I’d like to focus on as the yoyo-ing over the years has left me with some loose skin. We are currently recovering from a nasty Covid like bug in our household so I may not be able to update re: exercise for a little while though!

How tall are you and what is your weight if you don’t mind me asking?

OP posts:
BakedandBroken · 16/11/2025 10:48

Whatever works best for you👍
I am 5 foot tall, 12 stone 7 pounds this morning, so that is my starting point ☹️

@Obeseandashamed
Good luck I will be checking in on your progress as feeling interested as you seem determined.
I found that going to slimming world then taking a picture of my recorded progress to certain supportive friends it kept me motivated and have now lost 26 pounds after a surprise further pound and half off yesterday.
I have achieved my goal already but going for a further
3 pounds off as Christmas here soon . So now will try for the pound and then hopefully maintain till Christmas
We will see xx

Obeseandashamed · 17/11/2025 01:40

@BakedandBrokenits always hard for those of us who are shorter. Hopefully we can both keep each other motivated. Feel free to contribute to this thread as you wish. I weighed this morning and was 11st 10lbs indeed. My son has tested positive for the flu virus wishing explains why we have been feeling so rotten over the last week. I managed to cook a Sunday roast as I marinated the leg of lamb on Friday and cheated with a ready vegetable tray. Breakfast was a slice of toast and a cup of coffee and I skipped lunch as I wasn’t feeling up to it today.

I tried slimming world a few years ago but have a real soft spot for cheese and found myself in the trap of low syn/syn free snacks. I really liked the group aspect of slimming world but found that sometimes it worked against me as I was embarrassed if I hadn’t had a great week.so glad it worked for you. Losing 26lbs is amazing!! Well done! How long did it take you to lose that amount of weight? It must be so lovely to be at target/below target so you can have a stress free Christmas. We have just over a month until Christmas so would love to drop 7lbs by then but will be happy if I get at least 4lbs down before then. Xx

OP posts:
EchoInVoid · 17/11/2025 08:07

I weigh daily too. It keeps me on track. I would like to drop 7lbs by Christmas. I've reduced my carbs intake as I know that makes me hold onto weight.

Emmadaily · 17/11/2025 20:05

@Obeseandashamed
Hi there ,
Thanks for your message 😊
I started slimming world end of July this year after gaining 1 stone and 12 pounds after a not so good end of 2024 and the start of 2025 .
I wasn't well and medication and lack of exercise and basically just sitting around even after I was back to feeling well again caused me to gain weight and quickly to.

So i decided enough was enough and started Slimming world
Each week I stuck to the healthy speed foods optimising my meals and drinking more water and a glass of low calorie tonic water with a piece of lemon each night.
The weight dropped off I lost every week maintained once
I also purchased a foot pedal to exercise whilst watching TV in the evening as gave my exercise bike up.
I didn't keep the gained weight on for that long really which I think helped me to lose it quicker
I am now back to my preferred original weight minus 2 pounds
Look and feel much better as the extra weight I gained made me feel tired sluggish and clothes didnt fit.
I find going to a class very supportive and great tips off the members and will continue to go to keep myself in check and I made friends to .
No fee now is a bonus to ☺
The support off my friends to as been really good .
Good luck and I hope you find a way which will be your way to get feeling lots better about yourself and you have already lost an amazing lot so you know you can do it xx

Obeseandashamed · 18/11/2025 02:30

@EchoInVoid🤞🏽 we can do it. Do you replace your carbs with extra protein or reduce your meals overall? When my eldest was young, we did Keto for a year. It was hard at first and a lot of faff as I used to make things like cauliflower bread/rice. Low carb is a good idea - thank you for the reminder as Keto habits was something I’d forgotten about. Will think of some low-carb/no carb options for next week’s menu! If you have any food favourites, please do share.

@Emmadailyi can empathise with the poor physical health making it difficult to exercise. At the moment I am floored with this virus but I also have a long term health condition that frequently affects my mobility for periods of time. Despite that, I enjoy Pilates and cardio classes like Zumba/spin at the gym when I am motivated and my health condition allows. Do you still use your foot pedal? I have just googled it & it seems like a good device that doesn’t take up much space either! Thank you for your kind words x

I weighed in this morning - 11st 9lbs 1/4oz

I suspect it’s not true weight loss but as a result of being unwell and unable to stomach much. Breakfast was a coffee with a 99calorie bar and dinner was a can of minestrone soup with a slice of bread. Hoping I’ll have more of an appetite tomorrow as I feel very drained and want a quick recovery!

@Obeseandashamed
Hi there I hope you feel much better very soon and you get some good true weight losses soon to.
Yes I still use it mostly at evening time tho as I'm in now I'm pedalling away whilst watching This morning programme
Yes we do what we can when we can
I do like my foot pedal though as easy to use
Take care of yourself
Xx

Thank you. I weighed again this morning and weighed in at 11st 8lbs. I know it’s not sustainable or true so trying not to get my hopes up and to continue focusing on plying myself with lots of hot fluids and whilst this bug passes. Hopefully the reduction in appetite will be the start of forming good habits that will continue as I’m still forcing myself to eat where possible to keep strengths up. Another day of soup and bread as my throat feels like I’ve swallowed a box of needles!

OP posts:
Obeseandashamed · 19/11/2025 11:41

Weighed in this morning and seem to be turning a corner with this bug 🙌🏽 I sts at 11st 8lbs which I’m ok with as I knew the previous rate wasn’t a true reflection of things to come.

OP posts:
Obeseandashamed · 20/11/2025 12:44

Today’s weigh in was a gain. That’s ok though as yesterday was the first day of my appetite returning to normal and I expected that the weight loss I’d seen during illness wasn’t a true weight loss. Planning to get out this afternoon for a short walk.

20/11 - 11st 9lbs 1/4

breakfast was coffee and a slice of toast and I’ve prepared a chicken and mushroom pie for this evening’s dinner. 😊 I won’t have lunch as I’ve only just had breakfast and by the time I return home it will be time to have dinner with the family.

Hi, can I join please?

I am on a couple of threads but the more accountability the better!

We have pretty similar stats so helps too.

I also weigh in daily to help me stay on track but do an "official" weekly weigh in on Wednesdays.

I am currently 11st 5lbs. 5"3 and 41 years old.

I lost just over 4 stone (15st 9lbs to 11st 7lbs) between June 2023- July 2024. However put about a stone back on end of 2024 beginning of 2025.

Therefore in the lead up to the summer holidays I managed to focus and lost just over a stone bringing me to 11st 4lbs.

However, a stressful September meant I fell completely off rails and although I didn't gain too much. I didn't lose anything either.

Anyway long story short. My aim is to get back to 10 stone and into a healthy bmi and I really want to stop this constant yo-yo-ing!

I have been "back on it" for a few weeks but losses are very slow! Trying to keep motivated and healthy.

Hello @happysnail12,

Yes of course you can join 😊 Well done on your weight loss so far. A 4 stone weight loss is incredible! Our weight goals sound very similar as not aiming to be the size 6 I used to be but just want to feel comfortable in my own skin and a healthier, more consistent version of myself. The yo-yo-ing is exhausting and also find that it turns my home into clutter as I struggle to get rid of clothing because I know that I will be in need of it again when I gain weight. This time round, I am starting to get rid of clothes as they become too big for me. Do you mind me asking what size you are? I only ask as we are a similar weight and height.

I am pleased to report that I weighed in this morning and had dropped down to 11st 7lbs 3/4. I stuck to the meal plans I made for yesterday evening followed by a treat of 4 ‘penny’ sweets. I’ve been making a conscious effort to increase my water intake and today my cleaner said my skin looked glowing- the only thing I can put it down to is the fact that I’ve been drinking plenty of water all week or that I looked ghastly when she saw me last week as I was unwell 😂

happysnail12 · 21/11/2025 16:31

Thank you @Obeseandashamed

I am a classic pear shape - so bigger on the bottom and smaller on top. I tend to be size 10 on top and 14 on the bottom (although this obviously varies depending on the shop/brand).

Pre-kids (nearly 12 years ago! 🙈) I was 10 stone and fit in size 10 jeans. I would love to get back to that size but more than anything, I just want to be healthy and feel confident in my own skin 😊

Obeseandashamed · 23/11/2025 16:30

Hello,

Sorry for being late with posting we had a busy day out yesterday catching up on the stuff that got left behind whilst unwell! Weekends are always a bit more difficult as I am making 3 proper meals with the family at home also wanting snacks. I’m finding it easier to say no to snacks as I’ve been motivated by the weight loss. I weighed in this morning at the same 11st 7lb 3/4oz so pleased with that even though I probably ate more ydy than I have any other day in the week.

We have similar proportions. I am a size 12 on the bottom in most places lately although sometimes they can be a little snug and need loosening up. A 14 is comfortable with room. I have wide hips and a butt but people say I’m quite hourglass like. In my tops I am a 10-12 depending on the style.

OP posts:
happysnail12 · 23/11/2025 18:56

Yes, I am exactly like this. I'm currently in that awkward place where my size 12 jeans fit but are tight and my 14s are looking a bit shapeless and baggy. I'm hoping if I can lose a few more lbs before Christmas I will be able to fit into my size 12 jeans more easily 🤞

Emmadaily · 24/11/2025 22:26

@happysnail12
Hi there I think you are doing really well and you know you can shift these last few pounds before Christmas as yiu have done it before so goid luck ☺
@Obeseandashamed
How's it going?
Are you still doing your daily weigh in
?
Hopefully you are ok and feeling good
Xx

Obeseandashamed · 25/11/2025 01:01

Hello @Emmadailyi’m doing ok thank you. Still weighing daily! I had a 1lb gain this morning but have been spotting this evening so think it may be due to my period being on its way. How are you doing with your pre-Xmas 3lbs push? Still on track? I’m feeling much better than I was, thank you. Still sniffly and full of cold but much better than the aches, pains and fever I had last week. Xx

happysnail12 · 25/11/2025 07:07

Thank you @Emmadaily 😊 I've had a good week and have managed to stick to plan. Down to 11st 3.5lb this morning so fingers crossed it stays for an "official" loss on weigh in day tomorrow 🤞

Emmadaily · 25/11/2025 11:00

Hi @Obeseandashamed @happysnail12
That's great news off you both you hsve losses and I'm sure everything is going the right way for you both @Obeseandashamed
Keep up your great work ☺
I lost another 2 pound on Saturday msking it 4 pounds under target so was told if don't gain 1 pound this week I will have to pay the fee
3 pound under target is allowed so I'm now more relaxed about Christmas and don't want lose anymore but neither gain
Will see what this week Brings
Love the healthy eating alot.
Feel in a fortunate position at the moment
1st Christmas Dinner out this next Monday ☺
Take care everyone xx

happysnail12 · 25/11/2025 11:36

Well done @Emmadaily It must be lovely to be at the maintenance phase. You have done so well 😊

Once I reach my goal, that's the part I really need to learn how to manage. So often, I get down to where I want to be (or close to it) and then get complacent or fed up (or both) and end up gaining again. Determined to change the pattern this time around!
