Weight loss for Christmas!

Tinkerbell44 · 28/10/2025 14:09

Hi everyone!
I am desperate to lose 10lb before the end of the year! I started the year with a goal to lose 2st 4lb and only have 10lb left to go so have lost 1st 8lb so far. I am pretty pleased with this but will be so proud of myself if I reach my goal that I set out at the start of this year!

However, the last 4 months I have really lost motivation and I have gained and lost the same 4 pounds which is annoying. I really need to start eating like I was at the start of the year but I’m struggling to find any motivation. Today has been one of the worst and I’ve eating so much already and we are only at the start of the afternoon

I was wondering if anyone wanted to use this thread to support each other with whatever personal goals you have - let’s reach them together!

I'm in. Need some accountability!

I have about the same amount to lose as well. Will weigh myself tomorrow morning (rather than just kick the scales further under the bath and ignore them like I did today) and post.

MissNixs · 28/10/2025 14:16

I’m in. Will weigh myself first thing. I really need the accountability.

PersisFord · 28/10/2025 14:18

Will also log on mfp which keeps me honest!

And well done on your weight loss so far!

SaltyandSweet · 28/10/2025 14:22

Would love to join though tbh I have much more than 10lbs to lose. How did you get this far?

Tinkerbell44 · 28/10/2025 14:27

Hello to both of you!
i totally agree re accountability - this is so important I think!
Im also going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and then just keep reminding myself of how I’ll feel on Christmas day knowing I reached the goal

@SaltyandSweet hello welcome! I think my main advice would be to have an overall goal (for example to lose 2 stone) but then break that goal down into smaller goals. So maybe just aim for 1 stone less by new year and then another 10 pounds before your birthday etc. Not sure this would work for everyone but I think sometimes the idea of the long goal feels overwhelming and impossible.

Hello
can I join?
I need to drop 4-5kg to be in healthy bmi range.
I know the BMI calculator isn’t everything but I am just using it as guide. My motivation isn’t appearance as such but strength and health for my children. My dad died young and as I am nearing his age that he passed, I’m quite determined to be as well as I can be for my kids.

I used to run but have had an injury for a while, I’m building it back up by doing Pilates and swimming.

Tinkerbell44 · 28/10/2025 15:57

Welcome @Purpleandgreenyarn, I used to really enjoy Pilates but haven’t been doing it recently - maybe something I should consider again!
I think my main motivation is to try and lose the weight before the menopause as I’ve heard it’s significantly harder then - can’t say I’m doing it for looks either necessarily, more just for how I feel.

Blimey, there’s only 8 weeks until Christmas.

I am going to have to put my serious dieting head on. Starting tomorrow, obviously 😆

PersisFord · 28/10/2025 17:49

Well, I had salad for dinner then a big bowl of apple crumble so not the most promising of starts but will start tomorrow!

MissNixs · 29/10/2025 07:11

Morning all, I have just weighed in at 11st 2lbs.

Ideally would love to get to 10st.

PersisFord · 29/10/2025 08:18

Morning @MissNixs

68.8kg here this morning. Would like to be 64 to have healthy BMI.

Plan for the day - no snacks, more water.

Tinkerbell44 · 29/10/2025 08:46

@MissNixs @PersisFord @Purpleandgreenyarn @SaltyandSweet
Morning everyone!
I have weighed myself this morning and am 10st 10lb - ideally wanting to be 10st by Christmas. Hopefully today is a better day than yesterday!

I’m in exactly the same boat @Tinkerbell44. Down to weighing in this morning at 10 stone 9lb and wanting to be 10 stone by Christmas. I’ve also lost 2 stone this year but not much in the last 3 months.

I do seem though to have kick started things again this week and am down 3lbs over the last 7 days. This has been by calorie counting and eating within an 8 hour window. I’m not actually eating very differently to how I was eating before but the 16 hour fast is clearly doing something. I’ve also been doing 30 Day Shred since the beginning of the month and I do a Pilates class 2-3 times per week so I can see some physical changes which are motivating

SaltyandSweet · 29/10/2025 10:06

Trying to get into the mindset of making good choices. It's hard - I am surrounded by "feeders" and I am an emotional and/or mindless eater. Between my husband and my friends, it is going to be hard to upgrade my willpower fast enough. I have joined a gym though (and actually went!). My job is hard going and sedentary, so I am using the gym membership as a way to get myself moving. Remembering also that there are no "bad" foods, just everything in moderation and trying to eat mindfully.

Also, thank you @Tinkerbell44 for tagging me, I need the prodding to remain accountable to myself 💪

PersisFord · 29/10/2025 11:27

I'm a big fan of eating in a window - helps me not snack at work. It's easier than having to decide all the time whether to eat something or not - if its not your window, you dont eat. Helps me not snack in the evening once the kids are in bed too. I try to do 18 hours fasted as well but obvs not v successfully or I wouldn't be in this state!

PersisFord · 29/10/2025 11:29

@Katrinawaves that's good, I would be really chuffed with 3lb!!

MissNixs · 30/10/2025 08:09

Morning, I survived day one yesterday. Hope that you are all doing ok ?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/10/2025 08:20

I am trying to initially lose another 7lb although need to lose about 20lb in total. I've done 7lb already since my type 2 diabetes diagnosis and trying to put it into remission with lifestyle changes. I'm currently 190lb.

I've been tracking using nutracheck (way better than mfp) and joined the gym, although feel like I went too hard yesterday!

MercuryRising · 30/10/2025 08:41

Hi I'm in. I've been moaning about wanting to lose weight all year but not actually committed to do anything about it. I bought a walking pad about a month ago and have used it half a dozen times. So this is my commitment to finally do what I say I'm going to do. I would like to lose 3 stone overall. I just weighed myself and I am 13.10 so I'm going to set a target of 12.13 by Christmas.

HairsprayBabe · 30/10/2025 11:02

Hello can I join...
I lost 7st with the support of a MN group in my mid 20s - I'm 33 now - and post 2 babies. I kept the weight off mostly, but after I stopped breastfeeding DD I have gained and lost the same 10lbs about 5 times currently 10st10lbs would love to get in the zone and actually keep it off. Goal weight is 9st10

I do a weird combo of lower carb, blood sugar diet and intermittent fasting but it has always gotten me results - I just find it much harder to get in the zone with small children!

Purpleandgreenyarn · 30/10/2025 18:41

I’ve not done very well today.
Attempting an 8hr eat window. Had lunch at 2 (didn’t intend to be quite so late but was busy at work). Had lovely french onion soup and a protein bagel. But I’m home now eating some truffle crisps 🫣
having a protein rich tea tonight, chicken has been marinating all day so should be super tasty. I’m on my period and it’s half term so I won’t be hard on myself!

Interestingcomet · 30/10/2025 18:44

I have just lost 7lbs in 23 days by cutting out all sugar (was having it in tea and coffee, chocolate each evening etc) I also do 10 Mins of exercise with weights each morning and try to walk 3-5 miles a day. Looking at my calorie intake it’s now around 1600 a day

LivingDeadGirlUK · 30/10/2025 20:08

I made a lovely lentil and chickpea soup for lunch today, and ate it without bread which I didn't think was possible :)

Also isn't it weird how a workout with weights doesn't make you as hungry as a cardio session?

LivingDeadGirlUK · 31/10/2025 16:28

I have just eaten a mini snickers, send strength to get through halloween with no more snacksidents...

If it makes you feel any better I just succumbed to a martini with bar snacks and olives…
