Need to lose 2 stone

KindKhakiCrow · 18/10/2025 14:47

Does anyone want to join me on a 2 stone weight loss mission? In 49, menopausal and at 5”2 can’t afford to carry extra weight - yet here I am and have been losing and gaining the same 2 stone for the last 5-10 years. It’s at crisis point now for me as I’ve also got high cholesterol. I’m going to weigh myself properly in the morning so I’ve got my exact number and then plan to weigh weekly.
My weakness is snacking - crisps and chocolate mainly. And I also love carbs.
Can take or leave alcohol and don’t really do puddings or desserts either.
But I’m miserable and feel sluggish and hate the look and feel of my clothes. My chest seems to have taken the brunt of the weight gain and I look matronly.
Anyway I feel like getting it out of my head and down on here is the first step. So if anyone wants to join and we can keep each other motivated that would be fab.
Plan is calories no more than 1300, daily step count of around 15k and the gym at work twice a week when I’m in. Hoping this will be enough.
Anyone up for the challenge?

Join one of the ongoing weight loss threads, you’ll get plenty of support.

Your plan sounds hard to stick to and rather ambitious. You’ve been struggling for ten years so it might take a while to get rid of the excess weight. Up your steps from what you managed now by 500 a week, decrease your daily calories to 100 below your tdee and go from there. Slow, sustainable lifestyle choices that you stick to for life and aren’t miserable and rigid will see you through. I’m

Hi Op, count me in please! I'm feeling really sluggish at 40. I never had much appetite when I was younger so I didnt need much exersise as I was always slim. But 4 kids later and probably entering peri I could do with losing a stone or two. My main issue is that I am strarvng! I have porridge for breakfast but by midday I'm so hungry and craving soup and bread or pizza. I am constantly on the go all day but I definitely dont do enough exersise. Need some motivation to jog and something to stop my hunger 😫

Mrsphilmiller · 19/10/2025 07:09

I’ll join
I’m now on week 4
I've lost 3lbs.
1400 calories a day and walking a lot
seems to be working so far. Good luck with weigh in OP

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/10/2025 07:31

i’ll join you, I am really struggling to get my head back in the groove. I am a very slow loser anyway, and I worked very hard to lose around 9lb earlier this year, went away on holiday and regained it and now 2 months later I haven’t lose anything!

my problem is, I just cannot stick to my calorie goal. I aim for 1500 a day and every single day I go over, somehow. And 1500 does not go far does it? But I really need to have a very focused few weeks before the Christmas season starts, or I think I’m in danger of starting 2026 actually overweight.

i exercise regularly, and walk the dog as well, but I also suffer with chronic fatigue and am having a few tests for the cause of this. I’m on HRT as well and since being on that I have definitely noticed myself struggling more with my diet and my overall weight.i probably weigh the same but my body composition is much less muscle and more fat now.

anyway, I’m in. Starting weight is around 11.7 and I would love to be 10 stone but to be honest I’d be happy with 10.7 by next summer.

AdultHumanFemale · 19/10/2025 08:41

I think your plan sounds good, and that, as you're feeling quite desperate at this point as your cholesterol is now problematic, you will find it OK to stick to.

I lost 2st doing pretty much exactly what you suggest and it was fine. I did cut carbs like pasta, bread etc but still ate fruit and vegetables. Lots of protein.

I did buy one of those walking treadmills which has been such a great help in keeping my step-count high: if I didn't get my steps in during the day, I can easily add an extra few thousand steps before.

Emzmum4 · 19/10/2025 20:08

Hi I was exactly the same as you struggling gaining and losing always dieting and unhappy for 4 years then before that too after 4 children and being stuck overweight and feeling rubbish I decided to give mounjaro a try and it's been a godsend, I loved fresh bread and wine but I no longer crave foods or wine infact I'm put off foods especially the unhealthy stuff. I've had no side effects apart from slight nausea for the first 3 days, I've been on 4 weeks and already lost 14lbs, the only exercise I've done is walking.

KindKhakiCrow · 19/10/2025 23:41

Thanks all. It’s really good to hear the range of experiences! And nice to have some company 🙂
I weighed this morning and was 148lbs. Tbh it was more or less where I thought I’d be but it’s so so frustrating as I’ve started this sort of cycle before at 140lbs so this extra 8lbs on top just makes it harder and longer. But I feel determined and ready to tackle it now.
I’ve had a good day. 19k steps, just shy of 1300 calories and hit my water goal. Battled the food noise around 3pm but managed to see it out. Also decided to do a bit of a phone detox and read instead. Trying to make this weight loss journey part of a bigger plan to sort myself out - more self care, healthier choices for body and mind etc.
How’s everyone else’s days been?

I maintained this week, that’s the 4th week running but at least it’s not a gain 🤷‍♀️

hotelheartbreak · 20/10/2025 06:49

I’m doing something similar OP, what are everyone’s daily menu’s looking like?

Sunshineandrainbow · 20/10/2025 06:56

I need this but a bit scared to weigh as probably around 15 stone. Have lost 3 stone but nothing in the last year and possibly a gain! The 10 stone to loose thread I was on has gone very quiet.

I am same age as you and like the same food.

I need to make some soup tonight for Lunches this week.

BananagramBadger · 20/10/2025 07:13

About to do a weigh in - expecting 12.5 stone to horrify me. Same age and height as you OP.

Joining a gym for the first time, not for weight loss but for strength gain as I think lethargy and muscle wasting is connected.

Has anyone ever listened to Chris Terrell’s stuff - he calls it ‘chair to chair to chair’ lifestyle from home car and office.

Ive got some health stuff starting which I think is all connected to Peri and the fatigue. Last time I dieted I did 5:2 and was shocked at how effective it was. Most of my weight is about snacking.

‘Maintains’ are hard to push on from aren’t they? So demotivating but, like you said, it’s not a gain and the loss will come!

Ooh that sounds interesting. I will have a listen to that this evening and let you know. Thanks so much for the recommendation!
Good luck with the weigh in. But I do think finding out the number is a big step forward.

It’s really hard to make that transition from thinking you need to lose weight and then knowing you do to actually finding out what the damage is and facing it head on. Bizarrely I feel better for weighing even though it confirmed my worst fears 😩

I’m trying to be realistic with my food. So for me it’s those silent calories - the 2nd biscuit, the piece of toast, the packet of crisps. I don’t want to make anything off limit. So the meal i look forward to the most is lunch so that's where I'll make sure it's
tasty. Breakfast just needs to be easy and dinner something easy too but that will suit us all.
So today I've had a portion of Special K with skimmed milk
Luncb will be a toasted ciabatta roll with tuna mayo mix and salad. And a satsuma.
Dinner will be crustless quiche and salad.
I managed to haul myself out of bed 20 mins earlier and got 2000 steps done before driving to work.

Going to weigh on Friday this week as off to NY on Saturday - which should be good for the step count!

Your right, I need to weigh myself and will try and be brave tomorrow.
But now my first thought is I may as well eat the house tonight and make the most of it before I weigh.
My head is messed up!

Breakfast/ lunch will be protein yogurt and banana.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/10/2025 10:40

@hotelheartbreak I’m trying to fast for a bit today but I’m already starving. My menu is : eggs for lunch, probably scrambled. Dinner will be chilli, baked potatoes and veg. Couple of pieces of fruit for snacks. 2l water. Maybe a light hot chocolate or a Sprite Zero this afternoon.

hotelheartbreak · 20/10/2025 11:56

Today’s food was
Egg cheese and sausage English muffin
Chicken and veg fried rice
Burger Bowl
Chobani flip yoghurt
Snack box with veggies, hummus, ham and laughing cow cheese triangle
4L of water
2 coffees with skim milk
Diet Coke
1468 calories
12k steps
45 mins of cardio

ThatHappySloth · 20/10/2025 18:53

Can I join pls. I started calorie counting 4 weeks ago and went in hard lowering carbs, plenty of protein, no UPF's, no snacking. Im living basically on chicken, fish, berries, veg, salad, eggs, nuts, limited dairy. Keeping up the good fats like avacado's and olive oil. Have lost 12 lbs but having a definite wobble with motivation so hoping this thread may keep me accountable. Would love to lose another stone.

P.s New York will be amazing when I went was hitting 30k steps a day!

Of course! And welcome 🤗 That’s an amazing weight loss! I need tips on banishing the food noise. Had it again as I left work but knew there were no sweet treats or snacks in the house so unless I went to a shop then I’d have to battle through it which I did. Just had dinner and I’ve calculated my calorie intake for the day is just over 1200 so I’m on track.
Going to go for a quick walk now. It’s rainy and dark but the hardest part is putting your trainers and coat on!
if anyone is interested in this sort of thing I’m reading a lovely book at the moment called Wintering by Katherine May. It’s not about weight loss but it’s really more about appreciating the seasons and that wintering (periods of rest or a forced slow down in pace whether that be through illness or stress or whatever) is important. I’m kind of making the link to this period. I don’t want to see it as a miserable experience but rather a way of soothing my body and nurturing it back to health. Restorative rather than restrictive.
(I feel like this now but next time I’m faced with a box of Maltesers or a tube of Pringles this will be tested!)
Onwards ladies! 🙌

I am making good progress with the NHS weightloss app. It doesn't have all the food options but you can ask AI to calculate for you based on amounts.

Starting weight 67.5kg and they suggested 64.5kg over 12 weeks. Just by keeping track, I appear to have lost 2.75kg in 3 weeks (or dodgy digital scales!) so hopeful for getting to 60kg within that period (also 5 ft 2, aged 60).

Week 1 seemed to be a lot of water retention. I've been unwell so no alcohol for weeks. Stopped eating peanuts waiting for dinner!

AmicaNemica · 20/10/2025 20:06

Sorry that's based on 1700 calories.

Sunshineandrainbow · 21/10/2025 06:12

Not sure where my post from last night went!
Despite my plans to eat the house last night I actually came home and ate a nurtrious meal of chicken, sprouts, Cauli and broccoli with a few Veg and tofu gyoza. It filled me right up.

Today will be
Protein shake
Soup
Apple and peanut butter.
Chicken, sprouts and cauliflower.
Yogurt and 2 sugar free digestives.

Brilliant! Your dinner actually sounds delicious. Good work.
So this morning has been a slow start but I’m about to have breakfast and will get out at lunch to do sone steps. Only ended up doing 13k yesterday as it was an office day but glad I got out in the morning and evening and got a decent amount done.
Food plan today is
Breakfast: Weetabix with skimmed milk
Lunch: Poached egg on granary bread (no butter)
Dinner: Homemade pasta sauce (tomatoes, peppers, onions, chorizo, garlic, basil) with a small amount of pasta and some salad

And want to get my 15k steps in.

Well done. Logging food also keeps me on track so I’m using an app too.
