Need to lose 2 stone

KindKhakiCrow · 18/10/2025 14:47

Does anyone want to join me on a 2 stone weight loss mission? In 49, menopausal and at 5”2 can’t afford to carry extra weight - yet here I am and have been losing and gaining the same 2 stone for the last 5-10 years. It’s at crisis point now for me as I’ve also got high cholesterol. I’m going to weigh myself properly in the morning so I’ve got my exact number and then plan to weigh weekly.
My weakness is snacking - crisps and chocolate mainly. And I also love carbs.
Can take or leave alcohol and don’t really do puddings or desserts either.
But I’m miserable and feel sluggish and hate the look and feel of my clothes. My chest seems to have taken the brunt of the weight gain and I look matronly.
Anyway I feel like getting it out of my head and down on here is the first step. So if anyone wants to join and we can keep each other motivated that would be fab.
Plan is calories no more than 1300, daily step count of around 15k and the gym at work twice a week when I’m in. Hoping this will be enough.
Anyone up for the challenge?

Happy Friday all! I weighed this morning and another 0.8lb lost so 2.8.in total.
off to NYC tomorrow so will be sporadic with my updates but going to try and offset the calories with steps.
Good day today so far.
Got a walk in before work and have been pretty good food-wise. Was tempted to suggest a take away tonight to mark the start of the holiday but have refrained and we’re having quick and easy pasta and pesto with salad.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

8.5km walked before work. Did not want to get up at 4:30am to do it, nor do I want to feel this uncomfortable so I dragged myself up. Well done everyone as he head into the hard bit - the weekend !!!

wowza good for you!!!!

Now the clocks are going back I will go out in the early evening when it's just getting dark, I prefer to not be in full view of everyone and anyone who might judge me.

Had a good week food wise and feeling good. I ditched my scales a long time ago, I nearly got them out this week but I still think it's best for me not to weigh myself as it affects me mentally.

Weighed myself yesterday morning, with firm plans to make Friday my weigh in day. Did 45 minutes of HIIT in my front room and then went for a 30 minute swim at the local pool. Food wise, had porridge with a banana, honey, walnuts and a spoonful of Greek yoghurt. Four crackers with reduced fat cream cheese for lunch with a cup of bouillon as a substitute for a cup-a-soup. Unfortunately, it was preplanned takeaway night, but I tried to be good with chicken in black bean sauce and boiled rice instead of fried. Didn’t have a massive portion and… drum roll please… didn’t go back for seconds!! 🥳🥳🥳

I’m slightly nervous about weighing in when we get home but we are hammering the steps (38k yesterday!) so I’m hoping that’s limiting the damage. And as we’re up and out and doing stuff it does mean I’m not thinking about food as much.
Hope everyone is doing ok and I’ll report back with my post holiday weigh in at the weekend 🤞🤞

@KindKhakiCrow Wow. That's a lot of steps. I had a wicked anniversary weekend, mostly kept to non alcoholic drinks except for a few glasses of celebratory champagne and walked a lot (nowhere near as much as you!) so I have stayed the same.

Sunshineandrainbow · 28/10/2025 20:14

Wow that is a lot of steps!

All good here, managing to eat well and include so e good colour to meals.

Well done! Ignore the Peter Kay voice 😂 If you weigh out a pound of sugar it will make you feel better to know that’s come off you!

So I weighed and I’ve put 2lb on - basically the weight I’d lost in the days before holiday so pretty much back to square one. A bit cross but it goes to show you can’t outrun a bad diet. We didn’t go mad in terms of food but by normal standards it was unhealthy and never what I would have consumed at home - even when not watching what I eat. The step count daily average was around 28k and had that one day of doing 38k so I was constantly moving but it really is so much about what you eat.
Picking myself back up and about to do a food shop so this is where it would normally go awry. Instead of thinking ‘sod it’ I need to regroup and get back in the game.
Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend.

@KindKhakiCrow It is crazy isn't it? I always think if you are doing that amount of steps per day you could get away with not watching what you eat, just goes to show. I had a few wines and beers last night as Halloween get together but no more booze until I go to Budapest at the weekend. Then when I am back I may join Slimming World. Not sure yet. I will have a clear run until Christmas with no events or holidays until then so will tackle the weight one way or another.

I was on my period last week and I’ll admit to completely caving in to my cravings. (Salt and vinegar crisps; peanut M&Ms and White Zinfandel) 😩 Made me feel better though!

Totally. I was sure I’d be in a calorie deficit! Have a fabulous time in Budapest 🙌

All my favourites! Although I’d say salt and vinegar peanuts are probably my top snack of all time - washed down with a crisp glass
of white wine. Sigh.

I’ve done a pre Friday weigh in just to see if I had got back on track and pleased to say I’m 1lb down since my post holiday weigh in at the weekend. Pleased with that as I had to fight the ‘sod it’ demons.
Plan today is:
Breakfast - Weetabix with skimmed milk
Lunch - low fat cheese on toast with spring onions, Worcestershire sauce and lots of black pepper
Dinner - beef casserole which is currently in the slow cooker and green beans
Will try and fit in 2 long walks (lunch and tonight before Traitors) and be good with my water intake.
Hope everyone else’s weeks are going well!

Joining in. I've got an international team meeting in a month and everyone else is a stick thin supermodel. Then there's me - overweight pre-menopausal mum. Not helped by having crisps in the house for the kids.

I've downloaded the NHS weightloss app, committed to exercise every day (I walk everywhere, so additional weights or yoga) and staying away from the calorie killers - the extra biscuits and snacks. I'm food logging in the NHS and going for a 14:10 time restricted plan as that's worked in the past.

Welcome! There’s nothing like an event looming to jolt you into action. Interested in the 14:10 plan? Not heard of that. Off to google…

I’m using the NHS app. I found it really useful last time I used it and I lost 2 stone. Obviously, that was several gourmet burgers and cocktails ago now… 🤣😩

Deafnotdumb · 06/11/2025 11:09

Thank you @KindKhakiCrow. It's a modified form of 16:8. I get too hungry and low energy if I try to eat in 8 hours, but I can manage it in 10. There's also some evidence it is better for women to have a softer fasting period.

According to the NHS app, I am badly overweight. It's depressing.

Weigh in day. Lost another pound. Feel really disappointed because I worked really hard this week and watched what I ate. The last time I did this was four years ago and I lost 3-4lbs in the first few weeks. Obviously, things have changed slightly… 😩

Deafnotdumb · 07/11/2025 09:07

@Applepe, hormone shifts, stress and tiredness can bugger a lot of things up. Stick at it.

This is definitely me! I really struggle with getting good, quality sleep now. I often wake at 1 or 2am and I’m wide awake. This leads to sugar cravings later in the day.

Applepe · 14/11/2025 08:30

Weigh in day today - lost 2lbs this week! 🥳

Incorpated around 60 minutes of strength training into my exercise routine this week and upped my calorie intake slightly. I wonder if this has made a difference?
