'Night!

Distracted · 16/01/2005 09:53

Good morning, just catching up on this thread since Friday.

Loobz - snap, I'm 5'3 as well and 12 stone (well actually 12 stone 2lb this week as I've put ON weight ). My pre-baby weight was 10 stone 7lb, and I wasn't too happy with that. If I can get back to that then at least I'll be back into my clothes (have currently had to buy new clothes just to get out of my maternity wear).

Whenever I look at weight charts, I seem to have a long way to go. I think that according to the Atkins book the ideal weight at 5'3 is something like 9 stone, which I could never achieve!

Anyway the main thing is to start isn't it. Have started an exercise regime this week and currently waiting for dh to get out of bed so I can go to the gym this morning, although at this rate it will be lunchtime before he does (he fed db at middnight last night after I went to bed at 10.30 pm, so I need to give him a lie-in and some payback for looking after the kids while I go to the gym).

I'm sure this thread is going to really help with motivation.

Hi Distracted, glad to meet another small person - was begining to think I was the only one in the world. All off my kids are bigger than me now! Pity I'm not so small in the other direction though! I have to laugh at some of these ideal weight charts - According to the one Roisin posted I should be between 8st 1lb and 10st 1lb. 8st 1lb???!!! I wish Think if I get to 10 st I'll be laughing!!!

Demented · 16/01/2005 16:47

The Skinny Cow lollies are gorgeous. My personal fav is the Cookies & Cream, of course that would be the one with the most syns!

shevi · 16/01/2005 17:41

Please miss, can i join in?

I feel very miserable cos at 5ft2in i am almost 16 stone. Over the years i have steadly gained weight and seem to have no will power at all to stick to a diet. Things are just getting worse, I started uni in september last year and seem to spend an endless amount of time on the computer, looking after 3 kids etc, but dont feel at all motivated to do exercise, and now i'm starting to be a bit reclusive as well, i hate going out. And the worse bit, is people's expectations i am a nurse doing a public health degree, and feel very concious when i,m asked to do a presentation on good health, exercise or healthy eating etc, i just imagine people sitting there thinking 'its a shame she doesnt take her own advice'IYKWIM.

And another thing- why do people think they have the right to comment on my weight???? And dont u just hate when people say 'oh- you look well'

Sorry to be so whinney!!

bottle · 16/01/2005 18:42

hi shevi welcome to the fun
i have tended to get reclusive when my weight goes up, but found that if i forced myself to do things i would do if thinner that paradoxically helped me to get thinner iyswim.. it helped me anyway.. and chipping away at learned behaviours also helped me too i.e. eating when unhappy and long term re ed of eating habits and still going...
i have had a better day doing the gi diet sort of and been reading the times and planning to cook a crumble next weekend

Hi Yorkiegirl. Did you get my e mail - I sent it yesterday.
Hi Shevi! I am also 5ft 2in and weigh just over 15 stone. I am hoping that I will get some support from this thread that might keep me going where I have failed miserably in the past. Also am a nurse too and know what you mean about being self concious preaching about diet, exercise etc.
