An accountability/planning/thinking-out-loud thread. State what you'll be doing today or tomorrow towards your weight-loss and health goals. Then check-in afterwards and let us know how you did.

Please say hello and tell us a bit about yourself...

My check-in for today:

  • Walk at least 10k. Yep, 11k.
  • Go to the gym. Done!
  • Do a food shop for the week and try a cottage cheese for dinner. Done and done.
  • Eat a healthy meal for tea. Done. DP cooked us poached Basa, served with green beans, courgette, peas, sweetcorn and carrots. It was really, really bad 🤢🤢. But healthy I guess
  • Gua sha face & neck with vit C serum. Will do that before bed.
(in full disclosure I ate a pack of biscuits and drunk 3 Diet Cokes).

Plan for tomorrow:

  • walk to work if legs not suffering too much from the gym.
  • dinner will be salmon salad and tea is a red Thai curry and rice I cooked this afternoon.
  • take apple and nut butter in attempt to avoid UPF sugars.
  • No more than 3 DC. The indigestion is killing me.
  • Vit C serum and gua sha.

Well done, I've not managed my 10k steps yet. I've eaten a massive dinner cooked by DC and I've had a couple of glasses of wine
It's mothers day so I'm not going to feel guilty over that !
Back on the straight and narrow tomorrow!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/03/2025 20:18

I had an ok day today, I did a long run (15km) and have stuck to my calories without eating my exercise cals which is good, except what I ate was probably not the best. I baked with the kids (counted and portioned everything) but still 50% my food intake was pure sugar.

I’m reflecting on my march progress and making plans for april. My weight loss is painfully slow, even having a really strict march, no alcohol etc and sticking resolutely to calories I have lost just 3lbs this month and I think that makes just shy of 7lbs the whole year. I really try not to get miserable about it because that’s not going to help me, and the reality is if I have to be this strict to lose then so be it. It’s annoying and boring though. I’ve run 90k this month and walked over 100 as well.

anyway, I’m not going to boo-boo about it. My plans for April are going to be -
drink 3l water every day,
continue with my calorie tracking, aiming for 1000 a day but accepting of 1200- max the veg, increase protein, keep carbs low
add in some home strength training
do my measurements

Jollyjoy · 30/03/2025 21:41

Aw @Peae, that was decent to mention since I know you’ve felt conflicted about it, and it’s a personal decision, but I can’t imagine anyone feeling disgruntled. I hope it all goes really well for you!

Poisonwood · 31/03/2025 07:49

1lb off this week, bmi 22.5. Pleased with that - I’d like to lose between 2 and 9lbs more. Big focus on my fluids this week.

RabbitsRock · 31/03/2025 18:16

Hi everyone. Not the best day again but I have noticed that I can’t manage as much food now - admittedly the portion of chips I got at the pub this lunchtime was massive & when I’d finished eating, it looked like I had barely started! My friend had a meal off the kids menu which would have suited me perfectly (battered cod goujons, chips & peas). It was a strange menu with no sandwiches & hardly any salads. Not doing badly for water consumption. Tea will be chicken tikka masala made with a jar of sauce, a smallish portion of whole meal basmati rice & some mango chutney. Had a few squares of almond chocolate. My friend said I was looking young & healthy & couldn’t believe I will be 60 on my next birthday. Neither can I!!

Poisonwood · 31/03/2025 18:46

@RabbitsRock what a lovely, sincere thing for your friend to say ☺️.

aIt was my youngest’s birthday today and I’ve avoided all temptation. Tired today. Drank 500ml water and had a few cups of tea.

Today's check-in

  • Vit C serum and gua sha. Did this last night, hope to do it again tonight.

Nice one @Peae that looks like a very good day.
I had protein shake, ham and cheese sandwich, some strewed fruit, fish and mash for dinner with veg and have awarded myself a hot choc as no cookies. Not too bad a day.
Did a little run and have managed the 10k steps.
So feeling OK with that day all told

Poisonwood · 31/03/2025 21:10

What’s your favourite nut butter @Peae ?

Peae · 31/03/2025 21:13

Whichever one is on offer Grin . I go for UPF-free whole butters, typically from Lidl, and have recently had cashew, almond and peanut ones. They don't look great but I think they taste great with apple.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 01/04/2025 19:04

Mmm love stewed fruit @Whyherewego 🍎🫐

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 01/04/2025 19:05

@Peaehave you tried Hip Pop - really yummy sparkling drinks which are good for you. Might be worth a go?

Peae · 01/04/2025 19:46

I’ll look out for them, thank you. Ultimately I’d really like to be off the fizz completely. It just bloats me.

Today I have:

  • fasted for 16 hours.
  • eaten tuna salad for brunch and turkey and veg wraps with a portion of chips. (Tried a protein wrap seeing as they’re all UPF). It helped me reach my protein goal but they’re quite flimsy).
  • Done a gym class, my first cardio.
  • Hit 11k steps.
I also had 4DC and 5 Heroes (now all gone from my desk).

I forgot to report an NSV - my hairdresser complimented me on the thickness of my hair and guessed I was eating more protein!

OP posts:
Whyherewego · 01/04/2025 21:25

Oh nice compliment from the hairdresser there @Peae
And you must be pleased @SummerDaysOnTheWay good result there

Ive not been so amazing today, have had a fair bit of dark chocolate. But rest od day was ok ish. I've just managed 10k steps but feeling unmotivated

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/04/2025 21:33

Good start for me today. 1250 cals, loads of veg, drank plenty of water and walked the dog after work.

tomorrow:
fast til mid morning
black coffees
vitamins/supplements etc

lunch- salad, tuna, mayo, Hb egg
dinner- simply cook chicken parmigiana & veg
snacks- Greek yog and berries

I’d like to get a run in but my car is in for its service so no time in the morning, I will have to try to squeeze one in at lunchtime.

Peae · 01/04/2025 21:46

I'm hoping to fast until mid-morning too @thenewaveragebear1983, should bring me in at 18 hours. Good luck with yours.

I'm sorry to hear this. I think you've done well given the lack of motivation though!

OP posts:
Peae · 02/04/2025 20:42

Today I:

  • fasted for 18 hours.
  • ate Greek yogurt, berries, nuts and seeds, apple and nut butter for brunch. Leftover curry and smaller portion of rice for tea. Then had an Easter egg ruining my sugar-free day and early fast.
  • 17k steps

I'm finding NutraCheck interesting in terms of calories and very useful in terms of fibre and protein.
Tired and fed up after some bad news at work. Heading for bed now.

How's everyone else done today?

OP posts:
thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/04/2025 21:21

I ended up eating chocolate as well @Peae. My cycle is quite messed up the last few months, I think I’m due on (last month had a crazy binge day then the next day came on about 6 days early)- it’s hard to judge when you don’t know exactly. I’ve messed up my HRT patches again this month, and didn’t switch to the combined patch when I should have either, so that’s probably messed up my cycle a bit. Anyway, a stressful few days in a new job, feeling tired and hormonal, and not really managed to claw back since the weekend either, eventually I cracked today and just went out for chocolate.

so, tomorrow I will:
fast as long as possible
go for a run in the morning
drink lots of water
listen to my 30 minutes hypno on my break - I always mean to do this at this time of the month and never remember
lunch- try to fill up on a big plate of salad, with tuna mayo
dinner- I am out for a meal with the school mums. I’m not drinking, which helps, but I have looked at the menu and there is NO light option at all, no salads or fish or anything. It’s burgers, pies or steaks. I imagine they are all pretty much the same calories wise and therefore I may as well have what I actually fancy and not try to choose a ‘good’ option.

weirdly, I felt very skinny today and weighed myself and was the lowest I’ve been all year. I’m guessing after today, and tomorrow, that will be over! But I guess Friday/sat/sun I could really knuckle down and maybe squeeze a maintain in for weigh day?

Poisonwood · 02/04/2025 21:48

Jacket potato with vegetable chilli and salad, a tunnocks caramel, a handful of popcorn and some peach quark today. Will try and eat more nutrients tomorrow. Did manage a litre of water plus a couple of fruit teas and about 5 decaf teas. Did an hour of power yoga. So all in all not a bad day really.

Whyherewego · 03/04/2025 06:24

I'm struggling too @theaveragebear1983 , managed a 5k run but ate 1.5 hot cross buns. and had a chocolate milkshake.

trying to fast a bit today ...

RabbitsRock · 03/04/2025 14:57

Hi folks - haven’t been on for a while. Delighted this morning as I’ve lost another 5 pounds without even trying! So I’m now in the 11s. Another 9 pounds & I will have lost 5 stone since the end of January last year. Ideally I would still like to get down to 10. I used to be around 9 stone but look rather gaunt as I’m in my late 50s.
