An accountability/planning/thinking-out-loud thread. State what you'll be doing today or tomorrow towards your weight-loss and health goals. Then check-in afterwards and let us know how you did.

Please say hello and tell us a bit about yourself...

Hi everyone!

I'm 10st 11lb and I'd like to lose at least a stone, but we'll start with getting down to 10st. I had some success last year but keep falling off the wagon and eating crap. Piled on two stone after a spell on antidepressants a couple of years ago and getting the Mirena coil put in, was always slim before.

I've started 16:8 fasting again this week and am determined to try and stick to it as it's an easy way to cut calories. Also back in the gym and going to fitness classes so trying to take things seriously!

Peae · 29/03/2025 09:09

@Whyherewego Flowers the struggle is real!

Welcome @beezlebubnicky !

It really is @Peae and I have a birthday party to go to today so that won't do much for my dieting lol!
@beezlebubnicky how interesting that the coil made you put on weight my Dsis has recently had one and thinks that may be why she has.

@Whyherewego There are other factors of course, but I've found the weight really hard to lose and I piled on a stone after getting it fitted. It's listed in the side effects on the leaflet that comes with the Mirena. My adenomyosis is so debilitating I daren't have it removed though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/03/2025 08:19

@Jollyjoy maybe but i do also have a standard processor so I could just use that! Kids would love to make Nutella!

My kids were delighted, we made it at pancake day and it’s all gone now! Let me know if it works for you!

Hi @beezlebubnicky, welcome and good luck with your fresh start, all sounds great. Enjoy the party @Whyherewego

Peae · 29/03/2025 19:57

Today was a day. Sedentary and lots of food choices I could have done without. But, I got chores and visits complete.

Plans for tomorrow:

  • Walk at least 10k.
  • Go to the gym.
  • Do a food shop for the week and try a cottage cheese for dinner.
  • Eat a healthy meal for tea.
  • Gua sha face & neck with vit C serum.

Hi @beezlebubnicky

Not a bad day here. An hour of yoga, no walk as it poured down all day. Food: jacket potato with bean chilli and salad, protein yoghurt, brunch bar. Drank 500ml of water plus plenty of cuppas (decaff). 40 min meditation.

Tomorrow’s aims: 2 hours of yoga, more water, meditation.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/03/2025 20:19

We ended up having our Mother’s Day meal tonight, the boys wanted to choose so we had burgers, gastro chips and asparagus in Parma ham. They got me an alcohol free wine as well. There is pudding, but I’m stuffed! As a result, ended up having more calories than planned.

however that does mean that tomorrow I can be back on track, so I plan to fast til lunchtime, walk the dog, and take advantage of the lovely weather to go for a long run.
food will be something egg for lunch and something chicken for dinner

Whyherewego · 30/03/2025 07:23

Hi all, had a good time at the party and whilst i did have 3 cocktails and a ton of cheese nachos, I did stop drinking after a couple of hours and moved to Peroni Zero. So I'm feeling pretty pleased. Plus dancing meant lots of steps so have hit 25k!
@Peae I'd kind of forgotten about cottage cheese as a good item, is it high in protein?
@Poisonwood impressive amounts of yoga!
@thenewaveragebear1983 sounds like a nice dinner!

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 30/03/2025 08:44

Hi @Peae& everyone!
I’m Summer.
SW 14st7lb
CW 14st 2lb
TW 11st

I have been low carbing, which I find helps with weightloss, eating more protein, and water retention

I have been seeing a PT to help get me back into the gym. I’m going to be 50 next year and I don’t want to be overweight then.

I don’t like the idea of weight loss drugs, so doing it the slow way, which I also feel is more healthy for me.

Currently perimenopausal and very achy - have swapped this for the DOMS 🙄 but hoping this will pass.

I want to get down to 13st this week. Planning to up my exercise sessions, add in some swimming and carry on with the low carbing. Also need to increase my water intake, as I keep forgetting!

Peae · 30/03/2025 08:53

That's some serious step count there @Whyherewego . Not often I see that number!

Hi @SummerDaysOnTheWay I want a good reset today and to get down to 13st is my current goal too (but by my weigh-in day on Friday is probably a bit unrealistic after yesterday's antics).

I've started tracking my food on NutraCheck (can't think if I've already said that) and I'm eating quite a lot of salt. Quite a bit of that is in the salmon I eat (which I've recently doubled in order to get more protein). So, I'm looking for alternative sources of protein at dinner (midday). Recently I've been eating salmon, tinned tuna mayo and egg mayo.

Yes I'd done a short run 5k too yestwrday but definitely got a load of steps dancing! Was a lot of fun hopefully danced off the cals

Peae · 30/03/2025 09:52

I went to one of those day clubbing events in December (where you get to be in bed by 9pm) and it was great. I’d forgotten how much I used to love dancing.

Ok gang, I’ve got to tell you something. I’ve been thinking about whether to tell you or not and feel I really ought to. I’m going to try the Mounjaro jabs. I should get my first one back end of next week.

I’m just really, really struggling. And I’m so sick and tired of crying about my weight and my eating, and losing and gaining the same few pounds, and just not feeling like Me nowadays.

I hope it’s ok if I continue to check in here with my daily lifestyle choices. But I didn’t want to give anyone the impression that any weight loss after the next fortnight is my own achievement. I really feel I owe that to you.
Happy to answer questions elsewhere so that I’m not mixing things up here.

OP posts:
Whyherewego · 30/03/2025 10:01

@Peae no judgement from me here. I hope it helps you achieve what you want and of course you will need to still eat healthy etc etc. Watch out for muscle loss is all I'd say so do continue that protein focus !
Good luck xx

fastingaway · 30/03/2025 11:35

Agree @Whyherewegono judgement here at all. I know you have been thinking of it. You are very committed to healthy eating so hopefully that in combination will help you achieve your goals. Always here for support.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 30/03/2025 16:38

@Peae don’t worry about anyone else, do whatever works for you!

I don’t feel like I’ve given my lifestyle a big enough overhaul to want to try WLD. And if I’m honest I’m scared of long term side effects.
But I am intrigued to find out if they work once people have reached their target weight.
I’d be interested to hear your progress if you want to share x

Are you pescatarian like me?
I eat lots of salmon, prawns, tuna, mackerel, eggs, tofu, veggie sausages for protein.

SummerDaysOnTheWay · 30/03/2025 16:41

Oh and like the Organic Protein Co for bumping up intake

Peae · 30/03/2025 16:49

Thank you everyone Flowers and thank you to anyone perhaps feeling disgruntled but who didn’t post to say so.

Im not a pescatarian, just reduced meat for ethical and health reasons and then generally losing a taste for it. But, the thread before this made me realise I was woefully under-proteined eating beans and lentils.

Hi - can I join please? I am 5ft 2”
SW 16 stone
CW Approx 12 stone ( haven’t stepped on the scales for quite a while)
TW I didn’t really have one as I lost the 4 stone after I quit drinking but I’d like to get to 11 stone initially then possibly keep going to 10. That’s still officially overweight for my height but I find I tend to look guant if I go to 9 stone.
Had a bit of an off day today as I had 2 packets of crisps with my lunch & will be having both pizza & garlicbread for tea! I don’t tell myself I’m on a diet but (usually!) try to make healthy choices. Definitely need to start properly exercising again. DH goes cycling & has recently been encouraging me to take it up again. I never did it to the extent he does but used to enjoy it.

Peae · 30/03/2025 17:27

Welcome @RabbitsRock and congratulations on your success so far! That's amazing.

How has today gone for everyone? Any plans for tomorrow?

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 30/03/2025 19:46

@Peae anyone who is disgruntled should look at their ego. You being healthy and sustaining that is what’s important, how we all do that is up to us. I’ve apparently been gossiped about this last year as I’ve lost a significant amount of weight…so I must be on the jabs apparently…but nobody has thought maybe Poisonwood has had a health scare or is not doing well, they’ve delighted in being malicious. It doesn’t surprise me with these neighbours, so I keep my significant health scare to myself and just talk about my yoga, but it’s mainly been down to being scared I’m going to die and leave my children without me. It’s worked wonders.

Food today has been minimal as been very busy, just had scrambled eggs with veg and a protein bar. Will do better tomorrow!!

Peae · 30/03/2025 20:02

Sending love and strength your way @Poisonwood . We never know what someone is going through, do we? Thank you for your kind words.
