Where on earth are you going for that meal @thenewaveragebear1983 ? Doesn't seem to cater for a very wide clientele! You had lots of good aims for today, how did you get on?

In awe of any kind of run beyond 30s @Whyherewego ! How did your fast go?

Congratulations @RabbitsRock ! I daren't dream of being in the 11s.

I finally had a movement on the scales this morning! 13st 1lb. So, pretty much back where I was at the start of March 🙄. But just so relieved to see the scales move.

Today I:

  • fasted for 16 hours.
  • ate very healthy all day, apart from a small Twix. However, I completely swerved a LOT of birthday cakes and buns going around the office today.
  • Only 5k steps today as I wanted to be gentle on myself after crappy day yesterday. However, still have a walk to the gym and back, and a yoga session there tonight.

@Peaeits a (wanky) gastro pub - everything served with triple cooked beer battered chips, I did think maybe I could just get 2 starters but even they are things like halloumi fries, salt and pepper squid etc. it’s always lovely food, but it’s not diet friendly.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/04/2025 17:37

@Peae I actually didn’t do too badly on my aims- went for a run, fasted til about 11.30, ate big salad and chicken breast for dinner, and drank water. I had lost an unexpected pound this morning when I weighed as well!

Whyherewego · 03/04/2025 17:54

Thanks for the checkin @Peae ! I managed 18hrs fast and ate boiled eggs and a chia seed pot for lunch so am feeling pretty good so far.
At a friend for dinner but will try to keep portions reasonable ! And should get my 10k steps in too. 40 day streak whoop whoop

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/04/2025 06:47

for my meal out last night I had sausages and mash with onion gravy, and a brownie with ice cream , quite small portions actually- it was very nice and didn’t feel like I’d massively overeaten.

today, I actually don’t feel well, I have a sore throat and I’m really tired, it’s been a very long week. I’m out again tonight, this time pottery painting with my work friend, shouldn’t be too late a night. I will eat before I go.

goals today:
drink water
run at lunchtime if I can fit it in
find my iron tablets- I’m starting to feel quite breathy in the morning which I think is my iron levels getting low again
lunch and dinner will both be portions of meals from the freezer, I’ve been really trying to use things up and I’ve made a big dent in my stock the last few weeks.
I plan to come in at 1000 calories or less. 🤞

this weekend, more wretched decorating, although I really want it done so I’m going to push on.
I want/need to sort out and put a load of summer stuff on vinted, and I need to be ruthless about not just whether I like something or whether it fits, but am I ever ever going to go on the sort of holiday that requires x item? (Fairly confident the answer is NO)

Peae · 04/04/2025 07:53

Argh - official weigh-in day and I've put that bloody pound on again. 13st 2.5. Again 🙄.
Never mind. Onwards and upwards to a healthy weekend...

Out for a meal tonight & if I remember rightly, their portions are pretty big. I’ll probably order a starter to arrive at the same time as everyone else’s main course. Tonic water or elderflower presse to drink & I rarely have room for dessert. Bit rubbish on the water front yesterday so will ensure I have at least 2 litres today. Hoping to go to a National Trust property later to get some walking in.

Peae · 05/04/2025 09:14

What's everyone's plans for the weekend?

I had a good day yesterday (now on my first WLI) and today I will:

  • choose a salad instead of sandwich at cafe-like place meet up with relative. No pudding because I always regret it afterwards as the portions are so big and the food so rich and sweet.
  • get to the gym. Did my core yesterday so might do upper body today (and try their new standing hip thrust machine).
  • proper skin care routine this evening, including vit c and gua sha.

Not sure about steps as today involves a lot of driving unfortunately. And I'm still in bed.

Well done on good choices @Peae

I made somewhat less good choices as I had a burger for dinner but I did share chips with OH rather than get my own. I had a small glass of wine and did manage 17k steps!
Will try to get out for a run now and enjoy the sun ! Have a great weekend everyone

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/04/2025 10:29

It’s sunny here but the wind is nippy and it’s not that pleasant outside. I’ve decided not to go to the gym today, I’m just very tired and have lots to do which I need to prioritise.

food today :
just had 3 eggs scrambled and a sourdough roll
tonight we’re having Indian burgers with wedges. Not planning any snacks or extras- I’ve had enough this week already

Peae · 06/04/2025 08:16

Did you manage your run @Whyherewego ?

It’s sunny here but the wind is nippy and it’s not that pleasant outside Same here @thenewaveragebear1983. It looks inviting, but once I'm outside it's bloody freezing.

Yesterday, I

  • did choose a salad instead of sandwich and skipped pudding. For tea I fried up some turkey steak and ate it with pasta, cream cheese and mushroom. Small portion (as I'm working on that) but definitely Saturday night comfort food.
  • I didn't get to the gym but did make an effort with small walks to get up to 10k steps.
  • Did proper skin care routine.

No sugar. 4 cans of Diet Coke in shock increase :(

@Peaeat least it makes me feel a bit less guilty about not being out there enjoying the sun. The wind chill here is halving the temperature! I was decorating yesterday but I lost my mojo, I don’t actually like the colour and there is no way I am starting again. I gave up in the end. Today I will endeavour to get 2nd coat onto all walls. I still have my front hall to do but I’m going to get a new colour.

today- walked doggo in the park,
2 coffees
breakfast of Greek yog, blueberries, raspberries and a handful of granola.
lunch will be eggs- we have loads that need used up
dinner- I need to go to a supermarket, we’ve nothing substantial in, and I’m in that annoying place where we’ve done top up shops and ended up with loads of bits but no actual meals. Expensive and annoying.

I need to do a proper shop and plan my menu this week, my week has gone to shit a bit with lots of things on, means out, new job, and not following my meal plan. I am aiming for a fast800 week but I’m ok with 1000-1200 as long as it is the right food.

need to cut the bread and sugar out
drink more water ( 🥱)
aim fir extra veg and more protein.

Whyherewego · 06/04/2025 09:30

I dod manage a run @Peae but only a short one. I had intended to do 8 to 10k but only managed 5k
I did do a fair amount of walking and was 17k steps overall.
Food wise wasn't great, family.came over so I ended up drinking wine and eating cake
Ho.hum
Well done on no sugar! You must be pleased with that !

CherryBlossomPie · 06/04/2025 09:42

Hello, ah this is just what I need.

Today I will be going to Aldi and doing a healthy food shop.

Lunch is pork ragu.
Dinner is roast chicken (with 2 leftover portions for later in the week)
I will also be batchcooking some chickpea bites and making myself a salad to take to lunch tomorrow.

No beating up of self allowed as I've got to start somewhere 😊

@thenewaveragebear1983 I really need to repaint most rooms (did bathroom and kitchen over winter) but just can't face it. I feel your pain. Also in a similar place with meal-planning as I'm trying to eat more protein and shifting to more meat when I've got used to 100% plant and fish most days. Every decision seems to be a compromise and complex. Reminds me of our discussions on the last thread about fasting protocols.

Fantastic step/running achievements @Whyherewego! And yes, thank you, I'm pleased with the sugar. Not sure if it's the injection or just that time of the month when I find it easier to resist. Time will tell.

Hello@CherryBlossomPie ! We are a bit depleted on numbers so you are very, very welcome! I'm off to Lidl for healthy food shop as soon as DP has stopped faffing.

Today's been a good day. Ate two meals high in plants and lean protein, very low in UPF. No sugar(!!!). 12k steps and a lifting session at the gym. 4 cans of coke again and so tired I might not bother with the old skin care tonight.

Tomorrow I intend to:

  • walking my commute.
  • two salads. one with fish and one with ham. Due to logistics tomorrow night it's either salad for tea or buying something beige en route and I really, really, really want to stick to my good habits. I also have apple and nut butter prepared for a pudding.
  • no sugar.

Well done on the good day @Peae , I did not do as well as you but Monday is a fresh start so let's see how it goes !

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/04/2025 06:57

Happy Monday everyone!

ok- unmitigated disaster on the diet front last week. The root cause is always hormones I think, but I think the combination of factors has led me to basically give up trying. I am going to step on the scales, I don’t want to- but need to stop myself continuing and motivate me to make better choices this week.

so- just going to fast as long as possible each day this week, aiming til 12. I’m going to try to go fast800 again, which usually ends with me on about 1100 cals- but the type of food is key for this, I need more protein and veg.

lunches- loads of eggs to use up so today will be scrambled eggs.
dinner- today will be leftover roast lamb dinner from yesterday. After today, not sure as I will need to plan my shopping and do my order.
drink lots of water
take my supplements/vitamins- I’m having terrible palpitations the last few days, think I am fighting off a virus but they are a bit better when I take magnesium and all my vitamins properly.
go for a few runs to enjoy the sunny weather & vitamin d boost

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/04/2025 07:35

Update- lost half a pound- no idea at all how that happened, but I’m taking it.

lisaloveshearts · 07/04/2025 10:47

Hey all. I'm Lisa, brand new here. I'm way over weight and need to simply move more. It's really nice to have others to talk with about weight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/04/2025 11:15

Hi @lisaloveshearts, welcome. I’m on a variety of different threads but I like this one, it makes me think about specific steps rather than a general “get slimmer” 🤣

I love rangan chattergee and one of the things he says in his book is when you’re feeling overwhelmed just ask yourself what is the one thing I need to do today. It’s actually really helping me because I struggle with overwhelming myself and massively overstretching myself. My one thing today is to go out at lunch, either for a run or a walk.

Edited

I like Rangan C too. I also think it's has to just start with small steps, so getting outside doing anything is a great start. As you say rhe Vit D helps in the sun.
I am just under my 10k steps today but should make it by bedtime. Food wise I was a bit naughty with some chocolate but otherwise ate well with lots of protein.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/04/2025 06:52

Good morning

steps today: aiming for 1000 calories

fast til lunch / 12:00 ish
lunch- was supposed to be a delicious portion of roast lamb dinner leftovers, however my ds was poorly yesterday and asked if he could have it - what a kind mummy I am 😇 so will probably have some sort of salad
dinner- I have half the lamb joint left so I am going to strip the meat off and make a rogan Josh, serve with lots of veg..

it’s my office day today, it’s always a tricky day because it’s so boring but I have a few meetings today. It’s my boss’s birthday, I normally bake something but this time I’ve bought really posh borders biscuits thinking that it’s easier to just have one, which i undoubtedly will.

I normally do ds football on a Tuesday evening but it’s not on tonight, so I will try to get out with the dog to make the most of the evening sunshine. Should be a good day. key thing to keep me on track is: drink loads of water! I never drink enough at work.

I was another little half pound down this morning, now 11.2. I’m 13lbs down from this time last year, and 7 since January. It feels like slow weight loss but at least it is going and that’s a decent number now. I would really like to be under 11 stone again, ideally before end of April. 🤞

thenewaveragebear1983 · 09/04/2025 08:47

I didn’t manage 1000 calories yesterday but I also didn’t go totally crazy so that’s ok.

today-
menu is planned
walked the dog
going to run at lunchtime
should come in at around 1000 calories

Whyherewego · 09/04/2025 12:03

Sorry for radio silence. When I fall.off the wagon I fall hard. I've had booze and cakes and shitty carbs and I cant seem to stop.
