I'm the opposite @thenewaveragebear1983 @Whyherewego - love lifting but dodge the cardio.

Welcome @Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon! Et bonjour @lechatnoir, enchantée.

I am half way through this recent podcast on protein. Interesting (and controversial) thoughts on eating meat and fish in order to get sufficient protein and range of amino acids.

Peae · 24/03/2025 18:24

Ok, not too shoddy a day here. 12k steps, gym session, protein target hit and… No Sugar!! Amazing achievement for me, especially given that another neighbour brought me some chocolates. (Have asked DP to eat them).

Only negative was a bag of crisps and too much Coke.

Anyone else checking in with Monday?

OP posts:
Peae · 24/03/2025 18:27

Tuesday plans are:

  • 18hrs TRE
  • walk my commute
  • salmon salad for breakfast and chilli non carne for tea (rice modified to 80g of basmati, 50% brown).
  • No sugar
  • Max of 3 DC

Sounds a good day @Peae .

2lbs loss this week, really did not expect that and almost don’t believe it 😆. Had a good day, did my yoga, drank an okay amount of water, ate well (eat natural bar, half a tin of tomato soup with some milk mixed in, large chicken stir fry)

Tuesday aims: more water, a walk on the beach, protein, yoga. First try of a new meditation too, as reading Thich Nhat Hnah’s The Blooming Of A Lotus.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/03/2025 19:57

Tuesday is always a tricky day for me- it’s my office day and I leave early, work all day, pick the dog up and then the dc up, then have a very quick turnaround to be out at football club- often not really even sitting down until 8.00pm. I have gotten into bad habits of not drinking enough water, getting home starving, eating loads of biscuits or junk etc - so my only goal tomorrow is to plan my food properly and actually stick to it.

plan-
no breakfast , 2 black coffee
take my big water cup to work and drink it all
salad, cheese, fruit, popcorn at work.
apple for the journey home
dinner- freezer portion meal and veg
pm- 100g Greek yog and berries

fastingaway · 24/03/2025 20:07

@Peaecoming over from the fasting thread. I’ll keep on tracking fasting on the other thread but would love to use this thread to be inspired by all your great eating and movement habits. My steps are terrible but managing weights work in the gym. Plan is to continue to eat whole foods and at least not have naked carbs - make sure there is some good protein, fat or fibre with carb if I have to have it.

Jollyjoy · 24/03/2025 22:15

Thank you for the prompt to make a plan tomorrow. Hoping to make it until 1pm tomorrow to break my fast. Will bring a couple of boiled eggs and some fruit to do that with, and Shakshuka for early quick dinner since I’ve very little in the fridge and kids have clubs from 5. Probably a Starbucks treat cuppa while waiting on them, and no evening snacks after home at 6.30.

Whyherewego · 25/03/2025 06:50

Well done @Peae
I did well until Monday evening and then I ate 4 cookies. I'm such an idiot.
Today I plan to try to eat lots of protein and have an early dinner around 5pm and then fast for 24 hrs until Wednesday evening.
I'll do an hour of yoga this morning too

Fingers crossed I don't eat so many cookies !

Peae · 25/03/2025 07:32

That's amazing @Poisonwood I dream of that kind of weightloss (I have put 2lb what with the weekend away and a gym session yesterday. Sigh).

Good luck with tricky Tuesday @thenewaveragebear1983.

Welcome @fastingaway great to have you here too.

Good luck with your timings @Jollyjoy .

We have similar plans for today @Whyherewego !

Welcome @Babbybutterfly.

Today was a tough day.

  • 18hrs TRE - did 17, fine with that.
  • walk my commute - yep.
  • salmon salad for breakfast and chilli non carne for tea (rice modified to 80g of basmati, 50% brown). - yep.
  • No sugar - absolutely failed on this. Three times.
  • Max of 3 DC - think I had 4.

Really bad day, cried on the way home.

How's everyone else done?

OP posts:
Whyherewego · 25/03/2025 19:13

Oh @Peae I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like things are so tough. But take the wins as TRE of 17hrs is great and that was a spot on brekker and lunch !
I have also failed a bit today, had a sticky toffee pudding (in my defence it was going out of date) but I did have eggs for breakfast. I had a cheese sandwich at 3pm and that pudding and now that's it until tomorrow at 3pm. I hope !

Hope everyone else is managing OK!

fastingaway · 25/03/2025 20:18

Oh @Peae there have been lots of positives today - pls don’t be disheartened.
focus on the solid 17 hrs fast and sticking to plan with meals. Those are wins.

today has been ok. After the 40 hour fast, had carbs for the meals but also managed to add some veggies, protein and fats with them. A couple of squares of dark chocolate. Will aim for a 18 hr TRE to tomorrow and low ish carb meals.

Peae · 25/03/2025 20:43

Thank you Flowers. Back on it tomorrow, but not really feeling very resilient😥.

  • at least 17hr TRE
  • tuna mayo salad for breakfast and Nandos for tea (I need something to look forward to)
  • Max of 3 DC
No exercise for me tomorrow, work hit me like a tonne of bricks today so I will drive my commute and enjoy a lie-in and leisurely shower. Will try to reduce sugar from today's dreadful levels too.
OP posts:
Poisonwood · 25/03/2025 22:10

Found out today I almost certainly need bp meds from next week even though I’ve lost 70lbs in weight. Gutted tbh. Health objectives even more important now! Today I’ve not drunk much, or eaten well as stressed - I had a protein flapjack, a half tin of sweet potato soup, and sardines stir fry that’s it. I’ll try to eat some more tomorrow.

Up water intake
Take electrolytes
Have protein
Go swimming and aquafit

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/03/2025 06:47

Sorry to hear you had a bad day @Peae. Hope today is better for you.
in your food diary, what do you mean when you say 3DC?

I also went a bit off piste yesterday. I had a thumping headache all day and ended up eating loads of leftover sticky toffee pudding and other sugary crap, then still had dinner which was baked potato beans and cheese. So overall a very high carb and high calorie day!

as always, back on the horse this morning. I always track my off track days, it does help to balance it out over the week and at least it was early enough in the week to be able to repair some damage!

today: no breakfast, black coffee
must drink more water.
lunch - big salad and a portion of leftover Hungarian pork and cabbage
dinner- bolognese (will have veg not pasta)
kids are at granny’s after school so I will go for a run when I finish work, and walk the dog this morning and at lunchtime.

Whyherewego · 26/03/2025 06:54

@thenewaveragebear1983 we were sticky toffee pudding twins yesterday haha !
So I had every intention of a 24 hr fast today but I've had a dreadful night sleep and I'm super stressed by work and been awake since 4.45. So am now thinking that if I have a small protein smoothie this may stop me being too stressed today and I will skip lunch and eat dinner.

lechatnoir · 26/03/2025 08:26

@thenewaveragebear1983that is so bizarre about the Hungarian pork and cabbage - I was discussing what to have for dinner with DH earlier and all I came up with was ‘no idea but we do need to use up the leftover pork and cabbage! Any chance of a recipe?

Had a 0.5lb loss this week which I’m a bit disappointed by as I thought I was pretty good & expecting more.

yesterday started with a 16 hour fast then had:
L: scrambled egg on a slice of wholemeal toast, sautéed mushrooms plus Greek yogurt and blueberries
D: spinach and ricotta pasta bake with broccoli more Greek yogurt & blueberries
Snack: a freddo & diet coke

I made some spiced carrot & lentil soup so will have that when I break my fast at 1ish.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/03/2025 09:53

@lechatnoirits a 2 chubby cubs recipe, its really tasty - looks awful . I can dig out the actual recipe book if you need exact measurements. It’s mozzarella cheese on the top in the original but any cheese will do

What steps are you taking today/tomorrow (and how did it go)?
onetwothreefourfive11 · 26/03/2025 09:55

Morning!

Started walking doing 12k steps daily doing the nursery drop off and collection instead of driving.

i feel great! Combining this with intermittent fasting
lentils for lunch at 12

chicken and soup for dinner this eve 6pm

Whyherewego · 26/03/2025 15:27

So I've not managed to fast but all I've had was a protein shake around 7.30am and 2 hard boiled eggs just now. So I'm pretty happy with that as a compromise!

Good luck to everyone

Poisonwood · 26/03/2025 15:52

Well I managed my swim (20 lengths) and aquafit, and will do an hour of yoga in a bit but food has been a bit meh today…scrambled eggs with tomatoes for breakfast, half a tin of soup slice of toast with cheese spread for lunch, and protein eat natural bar for an early dinner. Think I just kind of ran out of energy. Not drunk anything like enough…will try and up it for the rest of day.

Tomorrow
2.5hrs yoga
focus on water
more vegetables

Peae · 26/03/2025 18:35

Well done everyone on today's successes (and hugs to @Poisonwood re. BP meds).

Today's check-in:

  • at least 17hr TRE - yep, just over 17 hours fast.
  • tuna mayo salad for breakfast and Nandos for tea (I need something to look forward to) - actually felt quite a lot better so didn't have Nandos, but had leftover bean and sweet potato chilli with sour cream and even smaller portion of rice.
  • Max of 3 DC - managed this, 3 Diet Cokes, finished by 3pm.

I didn't walk my commute, but I did fit in a gym session 💪.

Edit - oh god, I forgot. I've eaten a small chocolate bar and a packet of biscuits.

OP posts:
Peae · 26/03/2025 18:38

Tomorrow:

  • walk my commute
  • salad for breakfast, not sure what source of protein we've got in though.
  • Max 3 Diet Cokes.
  • Body Balance class in the evening.
  • No packets of biscuits.
OP posts:
Whyherewego · 26/03/2025 19:22

Well that's not too bad @Peae all things said and done. I was doing so well and then someone at work brought in cake and so I had cake and then I couldn't stop snacking ...eek.
At least I declined the pub and have come home and had an omelette for dinner with cheese and veg. It's a lot of eggs today but not too bad. Scoffed the last 2 cookies after though. Ho hum
Finished dinner early so maybe I can squeeze in 17 hrs TRE tomorrow
