One more thing, my plan is to lose just 1 lb every week as I’m beginning to realise that the days of high losses for me are well gone. Small amounts and often, hopefully, is my plan. Six days of cutting down and then some rewards on a Sunday because if I don’t have any chocolate at all, I’ll cave and eat something like six bars.

so this week, week one, didn’t quite go to plan but as I said I went out for two meals at two separate places and sometimes life gets in the way. Considering how much I adore sweet things I didn’t have a dessert at either of the meals so I am trying, but slowly and surely.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/07/2025 17:14

@poorpawsi think .75 of a pound is great, especially if you’ve also had meals out and other plans.

I’ve had a good couple of days. I’m really trying. It’s so easy to just say Sod it at this time of year, social plans and loads of schools activities and mental load. Then birthday and holiday. But no! I sm determined to have a number 10 at the start of my weight on my birthday and for it still to be there when I set off on holiday.

Tuesday is normally my danger day but today I feel quite calm, I had a protein/fibre shake this morning, then lunch I took salad and fruit. After getting in I have had a little piece of feta cheese and a few bits of chicken. Dinner is a bit of fridge pot luck unfortunately as I need to do a shop. Probably cold chicken, new potatoes and salad. I might even do a big chop up and mix with mayo and have it in a wrap. hardly any steps today but I will do a 20 mins dumbbell workout once I have decompressed from the office

Hi all. I seem to have bought too much fruit over the last few days as this is pretty much all I've been eating so it doesn't go to waste. I've been doing the protein shakes for about 4 days now. I've been using quite short portions of the protein powder due to the price of it 😂. It does mean I'm drinking a lot more water than usual though and starting to struggle to be the pig eater I've been perfecting over the years. Hopefully I'll start to notice an improvement in body shape soon.

Hi everyone

its going ok-ish here. Yesterday, I didn’t walk the dogs because it was far too hot and I felt really lethargic all day because I hadn’t done many steps So today I got up extra early and took two of them out for a decent walk then came back and took the lame dog out for just a few minutes to at least let her have a few sniffs on the road.

I’m quite worried about lame dog because she’s been lame A long time. I took her back to the vets yesterday morning and I think the vet was at least one week out of veterinary school. I was told to keep resting her, just do what I’ve been doing and that’s £65 please. 🤬

I’m having a new carpet fitted tomorrow so I’ve been moving furniture out of my tiny bedroom and emptying the wardrobe (of all the clothes that I can no longer get into) so that at least its easy to move.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I think your plans sound brilliant and I’m sure you can keep that number 10 at the front of your weight for quite some time this year, if not all year!

@TalkToTheHand123 I buy too much fruit too. This week I bought raspberries, grapes, strawberries, watermelon, oranges, apples, satsumas it’s just too much, and then I wonder why my food is too high.

the air fryer has just pinged, I’m rushing off to get dinner now. Have a great evening, everyone.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 03/07/2025 07:11

Happy new carpet day @poorpaws! Hopefully it goes to plan.

mid week check on the scales and I’ve lost almost a pound which is marvellous, just need to keep the momentum going for the weekend now.

We slept in this morning, I really should get off mumsnet and get doing things! Have a great day all

OP posts:
poorpaws · 03/07/2025 07:46

@thenewaveragebear1983. Great mid week loss, keep up the good work and the 10 will be here in no time.

yesss carpet day! My “old” carpet (it isn’t very old at all) has been driving me mad. It’s suppose to be top quality, stain resistant but it is rubbish. I even bought a carpet cleaner to try to make it look better but it looks permanently grubby and nasty. I lost the plot with it at the weekend so went out on Monday and chose a new one (which I’m assured will be better but we’ll see). I have such an impulsive nature.

i did really well yesterday. I was busy and had a very late and small lunch. I just about live on jacket potatoes, salad and some kind of protein but yesterday I swapped the salad for beans and I didn’t want to graze the evening away as I usually do. This might become a more permanent swap.

obviously I’ve got a busy day ahead so I’m hoping this will take my mind off food. The carpet fitters are coming this afternoon, I just hope it’s not around 4-5 or there won’t be much time to put everything back in its place.

have a great day, the sun is out again 😁 (the garden is so thirsty).

TalkToTheHand123 · 04/07/2025 09:50

Hi all. I weighed 14.0 stone a few weeks ago. Weighed this morning and scales showing 14 and a half stone. My weight range is quite wide so not sure exactly but appears quite a gain. It may just be a case of giving it a few more days with the protein shakes for a more reliable weigh. I'm not sure. I have been making wiser choices food and drink wise recently.

It's been 6 days since I had a burger and chips. Getting slight withdrawals now. Currently reminding myself of all the reasons not to succumb.

I was at the food shop yesterday and stopped myself from buying fruit. I currently have a few more portions left in the fridge. Have a few potatoes also to use up.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2025 12:54

My weight also really fluctuates @TalkToTheHand123 so try not to get disheartened. Do you drink enough water? Dehydration will make us retain water and the best way to flush it out is to drink loads. Especially in the heat

OP posts:
TalkToTheHand123 · 04/07/2025 17:28

Hi @thenewaveragebear1983 , I went a few weeks a few months ago when I drank enough and was losing weight. I'm drinking a bit more with the protein drinks, but not as much as I'd like. I may need to start setting alarms!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2025 18:29

It’s amazing how much difference it makes to be properly hydrated. Basically you cannot break down the fat without water so if you’re not getting enough you just will not lose weight as easily. I struggle to get enough sometimes but I tend to guzzle a whole pint 4 -5 times a day rather than sipping little bits regularly.

i was tired after work, I started a new job April 1st and I’m still very much learning and my boss (and mentor) has been away now for 5 weeks. I’m literally thrown into the deep end of a data system I have barely any idea about, and it’s been a really tough few weeks. It’s so tough having to learn every single thing and every single decision. But hey, I am doing it, no one’s died, no massive gdpr breaches have occurred 🤣 anyway, I lost my shit with dh because I told him I wasn’t drinking tonight but he bought me a bottle of wine because he knew I’d had a shit week and I was (yes, disproportionately) cross with him because it’s a lot easier to resist it when it’s not in the bloody house!! So I went for a furious run instead, in the muggy heat on my tired legs.

Hi everyone

its sooo hot, I wish I’d lost weight in autumn and winter and I could be in floaty summery skirts, but I still love the heat. Nearly everyone I know is complaining about how hot it is but I just love it.

it was a bit of a challenge today, putting back all my clothes into the wardrobe. I can’t get into most of them and some of them, even though I had a big cull in autumn, are realistically never going to fit me again, it’s very depressing and I found two tops I’ve never even had on.

I’ve done quite well today, a shorter walk because of the heat and a meal at our café but I only had a bacon sandwich with small side salad and black coffee so I feel like I did quite well. They use very thick bread, even for sandwiches, it’s more like toasting bread, which I always feel is quite a shame because of the extra calories.

@thenewaveragebear1983. I hope you feel ok now. My DP never ever buys me chocolate now which always makes me sad but I see your point (but I’d rather have the wine/chocolate than none EVER).

I drink a lot, an awful lot, but sadly it isn’t water it’s Diet Coke which is yet another one of my addictions.

@TalkToTheHand123 my weight also fluctuates incredibly. I’m sure you’ll be back to 14 in no time but don’t lose heart (says she who doesn’t do what she preaches).

im going to have an early night so I don’t start bingeing.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/07/2025 20:38

Do you ever put things on vinted @poorpaws?
i did a massive clear out a few weeks ago, I just got so fed up of just always feeling drab, nothing suiting me. I couldn’t remember the last time I put something on and felt actually nice in it (or slim) and I got all my summer stuff out and it’s depressingly too small or unflattering. So I had a major cull. Tried every single thing on in front of the mirror. Big sell pile, smaller charity pile. A small bag of things that I will definitely wear if I was one size smaller but nothing smaller than that. I got rid of multiples (like almost identical jumpers or jeans, only keeping 1 etc) - so so liberating. And I actually have things I want to wear now. I sold loads on vinted and made around £100, and have now used that to buy myself some summer things that I will
actually wear. Still have some to clear out, this weekend I am doing swim wear and beach / high summer stuff. You have to see it all as a ‘sunk cost’ and cut your losses, especially if it’s making you unhappy or overwhelming you.

It's a big joke when managers throw you in it, especially when there is no need and could be avoided with a bit of competence, thoughtfulness and planning.

I haven't been able to do any exercise over the last 6 days as recovering from back pain from a fun fair ride. It'll be a few more days before I can start again. Even walking is quite painful. Hopefully recover before holiday time.

poorpaws · 05/07/2025 08:31

@thenewaveragebear1983 I wrote a post last night re Vinted and deleted it because it came across as holier than thou which certainly isn’t what I intended. The truth is I can’t be bothered with Vinted, I’m not techy savvy and I quite like to give my clothes and furniture to charity. I do however love to hear of people like you and my daughter who make money from Vinted so I’d never knock it, just not for me.

@TalkToTheHand123 I hope you’re ok and I’m sorry to hear about your fun fair escapade. I hope you recover very quickly.

yesterday went well as I said and I’m hoping for a good healthy day today. I’ve got to put my chest of drawers back and then the room is done (when I can persuade DP that the curtains are too short and the curtain rail does need lowering a little. He is very reluctant).

Then it’s Sunday Funday where I do very little, can resume my latte habit and eat the one 95g bar of chocolate I allow myself once a week to ward off mid-week binges. I love Sunday, I don’t see DP, I get up a little later and just chill all day. I look forward to it every week and now it’s getting close.

busy day today to make up for lazy Sunday but I’m in the right mood to finish the bedroom and get on with other jobs.

have a great Saturday everyone, the sun is still shining and I hope you can all enjoy it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/07/2025 09:02

@poorpawsi’m sure it didn’t, I can see why people can’t be bothered though, it’s great if things sell first time but if they don’t you’re faffing around relisting things for a £1 or £2 here and there. This morning I’ve just done a big bag for charity that’s been hanging around. I guess the point I was making is the cull is liberating, regardless if the method. Clothes that don’t fit you or suit you aren’t going to help you (us) and I was just finding every time I opened my wardrobe I was greeted with reams of things that made me miserable.

I weighed in again today, I did not drink Dh’s wine last night and felt fresh this morning, and have weighed in another half pound down at 154.4lbs (that’s 11st and 0.4lbs) - those 10’s are so close I can smell them 👃!! Good motivation to keep on it today, we’re popping into town this morning then dh/ds going to football and I am going to put my scruffs on, turn the music up and clean!

TalkToTheHand123 · 05/07/2025 17:28

Hi all. Back easing a bit. I got some freeze gel yesterday. At work at the moment. Customer wanting to go to the pub 🙄.
Note to self to drink plenty water when I get back as this seems to help a lot with my dieting attempt.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 05/07/2025 17:50

I had such a productive day today! Went into town, tidied boys wardrobe’s and deep cleaned 2 bedrooms, cleaned windows, 3 loads of washing, and did another big batch onto vinted.

i’m doing a chicken and coconut curry for dinner, with noodles for the others but I will just have veg. I’ve had a good week and I want to see a loss on the scales on Monday. Next week I want to try to get in some strength training, and attend the online sessions run by the PT I have signed up with. I missed every single one this week 🤣

OP posts:
poorpaws · 05/07/2025 19:15

I’ve had a productive day too @thenewaveragebear1983 doesn’t it feel soooo good.

im just about to have my first latte of the week just because it’s Saturday 🤷‍♀️. Im sure it is helping my diet so much to have stopped them mid-week because not only are they quite a few calories but mainly because of their association to wanting something sweet. Every time I was drinking at least three a day, I needed (or so my head thought) a bar of chocolate. No lattes mid-week is such a win for me. Remember my granola bar habit, that had to be knocked on the head, I daren’t have them in the house.

have a great Saturday evening everyone.

TalkToTheHand123 · 05/07/2025 22:00

Not very productive as 10 hours into my shift. I did go to the city centre this afternoon though to a nice bar 😏.

Managed to drink a decent amount of water this afternoon. Target this week is to reach 14.0 stone by drinking plenty water and eating fish / chicken and veg meals, so need to lose a couple of lbs.

TalkToTheHand123 · 07/07/2025 00:37

Hi all. Still in quite a bit of pain 8 days on. Had a decent day today. Drank plenty water. Cooked a batch of chicken pieces tonight. I'm planning on using up food in the cupboards and freezer again which seemed to help me lose weight a few months ago as it meant I wasn't buying extra naugty food.

poorpaws · 07/07/2025 07:46

1.5 lbs off this morning. I’m really pleased because this makes up for last week and keeps me on track for 1 lb a week for the next two months (at least). 2.25 lbs off in 2 weeks so feeling much more positive.

good luck to Monday weighers and have a great “on track” week everyone.

poorpaws · 07/07/2025 07:52

@TalkToTheHand123 sorry to hear you are still in pain and I hope it eases very soon. I need to cook a batch of chicken breasts as my freezer stock is low on them, and chicken seems to keep me on track. Have a good day.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 07/07/2025 08:57

Sorry you’re still in pain @TalkToTheHand123

@poorpawswell done!

i lost 2lbs this week, i had actually dipped a little lower yesterday but had crept back uo this morning annoyingly, because i am hovering around the 154lbs /11 stone mark and a little dip takes me under and into the 10’s! Next week is my week guys, I am ready for it! Started the day with a dog walk and a protein/fibre shake. No frozen fruit so it was a lukewarm gloopy mess but I chugged it down. Frozen fruit added to shopping list!

I’m just about to listen to my hypnosis as I’m committing to doing it every day this week as I’m really struggling with anxiety. Then meeting my friend for a walk and coffee. Food shop. Go to Ds’s school for end of term celebration, then this evening I’m out at my other Ds’s new high school. Don’t know when I’ll have time to eat today!

OP posts:
poorpaws · 07/07/2025 13:08

@thenewaveragebear1983 wow! Well done, you take the crown this week.

what a busy day you have, hope the celebrations go well.

ive done a dog walk and sorted three already clean rooms. What I mean by that is three rooms have had a thorough clean recently including washing curtains etc so today I’ve wiped the window ledges, quick vacuum and dust (where does all the dust come from?), closed the doors and they’re done. No tidying necessary because I’m on a mission for rooms to be permanently tidy and picking up after myself all day long. Bathroom next, busy day!

poorpaws · 08/07/2025 16:04

Hi everyone

another productive day here. Too hot for a walk but did the food shop fairly early. Next I tackled jobs I consider too fiddly, too time consuming, jobs I forget about or the ones I hate doing so my long to do list is reducing slightly.

i had salad for lunch, it was large but now I’m really hungry.

i hope you are all enjoying this glorious sunshine, anyone here doesn’t like the warm weather? I love it!
