I don't seem to get the chance to enjoy the weather. Garden turning into a forrest again so need to schedule a trim in the next few days.

Been catching up a bit on sleep and doing tummy tenses in bed which has helped me to get back down to 14.0 stone.

Started using a whisk for protein shakes as less faff than using a blender.

Have been stuffing my face with chicken and veg, trying not to reach forntje crisps and buscuits.

Going to try download some hyponsis for weighloss now.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/07/2025 20:17

I’m enjoying the weather but it does make it difficult to walk the dog and to run, I despise running in the heat. I don’t really sit out in it but I love having the option and I love the warm evenings. I saw my friend yesterday whose husband is a gardener and apparently he predicted this glorious summer because the oak was in leaf before the ash 🤷‍♀️ 🍃 I just hope it lasts into the school holidays and is still warm in France when I go in August because I’m only going abroad to get guaranteed sunshine!

feeling quite tired and a little tearful today, it’s most likely due to the changing of my HRT patch. I have had a difficult day at work, to be honest I’m just tired of struggling doing a new job that I’m not really properly trained for and having to make big decisions that are above my pay grade and deal with issues that aren’t really my fault. Just a bit shit. My boss should be back Monday but she’s been very unwell, I’m not sure she will be. My foods been ok but I have had max calories and not a lot of veg. Will try better tomorrow

Hi all. I got dumped work on me recently which I struggled with, so I can empathise.

I decided to download weightloss music instead of the hypnosis one listening to someone yapping on.

poorpaws · 09/07/2025 15:06

@thenewaveragebear1983 I’m sorry you are struggling with work and hope your boss does come back on Monday to ease your workload.

I got up really early this morning and had done well over an hours dog walk with two dogs and then a short one with lame dog by 8 am.

I don’t usually see DP on Wednesdays but there was an offer on jumbones in Poundland, so we both walked into town this afternoon and I bought 26 packets🙈 (my dogs love them). We stopped by our ice cream parlour which we shouldn’t have done really, but I hadn’t had time for lunch so that sort of spoilt the diet today. It could have been much worse because DP wanted chips and then the ice cream, but because I had tried on my favourite skirt and couldn’t fit in it by about 4 inches around the waist I gave him the choice of one or the other and because he’d managed to get a sandwich earlier, he chose the ice cream (which was lovely).

I had a to-do list for today but I’m afraid that won’t get done because I feel absolutely shattered so it will be feed the dogs then feed me and then feet up.

Have a great day, everyone.

TalkToTheHand123 · 10/07/2025 14:36

Hi all. Made myself a salad last night to keep me going today out and about. Have some drinks in a cooler too. Trying to avoid the lure of the shops. Out until 9pm.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 10/07/2025 14:52

I did it ladies, I got the dumbbells out and did a workout! I don’t know why I had been really procrastinating, massive mental block over it for some reason. Anyway, I set an 18 minute timer, 3 pairs of exercises, arms, legs, core. Job done. 👍
its sooooooo hot here, at least I am finishing work early today although I did start at before 8 and I do have to sit in a hot school hall for a new intake meeting 😴

@thenewaveragebear1983 yay! Well done 👏 and in this heat too, you really are a star and so deserve to see that 10.

i was up very early again and had the walks done by 8 but I haven’t done much since. I was up for most of the night with toothache, well gum ache actually because there’s nothing wrong with the teeth but the gums are diseased. I rang my dentist and she’s off work until Monday. I could have seen someone else but I need continuity of care so I’m going to wait. I’ve got an August appointment but wonder if I can wait that long.

anyway because I’ve felt miserable all day I had a Daim bar and latte tonight and now I’m berating myself. If I just lose quarter of a pound (which I doubt) this week I’ll be happy but I fear a gain. ☹️

nothing much else to report other than I must try harder. I love the sunshine but tonight it was 31 degrees in the shade here and that’s a bit hot even for me. I doubt many people will seep tonight, we just aren’t used to it

thenewaveragebear1983 · 11/07/2025 11:44

I got up at 5.25 this morning so I could get out for a run before the heat, I ran 9.5k then walked Maggie. Even at that time it was hot in the sun. ☀️
I am feeling very optimistic for the weekend, I’ve been listening to a great audiobook and I have listened to my hypno for anxiety every day this week, I am feeling much better. Food all planned for today, and maybe even a nice cold g&t later.

Oh! And when I weighed this morning I was down a little pound which puts me at 153.4lbs which…… is 10st13.4!!!!!! Now, it is of course Friday, so I am not counting too many chickens but if I can keep my momentum and maintain over the weekend before official weigh in on Monday I will be very pleased

poorpaws · 11/07/2025 13:04

Another huge win for @thenewaveragebear1983 you have this in the bag, go you!

i was dog walking at 6.30 and it was very hot. I had to make an emergency appointment with the dentist as my gums hurt even more. He cleaned the inflamed gum but I don’t think it’s got much time left and my next appointment will be for an extraction.

we walked to the dentist so I’ve got a lot of steps in today. I’ll probably have fruit and yogurt for lunch as my mouth is very sore.

TalkToTheHand123 · 12/07/2025 00:03

Bit of a slip up tonight as customer talked me into having some takeaway pizza. Have been quite good otherwise though so hopefully not too much damage done.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/07/2025 07:06

Last night I had a measured gin and tonic and a small glass of wine, it went right to my head after the hot weather and I fell asleep at 9.30! Today we are going to a local carnival where we will know loads of people, I’m going to drive so as not to drink as I don’t really fancy day drinking in 35* heat . I’m feeling really good actually, I think the difference of a few pounds off on in the last few weeks has given me such a boost after a year of yo-yoing around.

this morning I am going wild swimming, or at least paddling. My friend and I have found a local place recommended so we are going to see if we can find it. I’m just enjoying a coffee in my sunny spot, dh has taken the dog out so there’s no big hairy mutt to spoil it. Then I am taking my son to get his phone screen replaced, then carnival. Busy day as always.

OP posts:
poorpaws · 12/07/2025 21:33

Today has gone so quickly. My gum ache has not improved at all so I skipped lunch (unheard of). We also skipped our Friday cafe date as it was far too hot for the dogs. I just don’t know where the day has gone to. My DD arrived with her washing so I’ve washed, dried and folded two large loads. I also looked after her dog all day.

my food has been pretty good but because of the heat I ate two fairly low calorie ice lollies during the day.

I usually stay up later on a Saturday night because I don’t have to get up early on Sunday morning but having had I think it’s three nights with a lot less sleep, I’m going to bed early again. as you know it’s Sunday fun day tomorrow, and I intend to do very little to nothing and compensate for the busy week I’ve had.

have a good weekend.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 12/07/2025 23:12

I went wild swimming today and it was lush. I think it’s going to be my new favourite hobby

my food went totally up the spout, we had lunch if toasties and cake in Costa and I had cheese and crackers for tea, and a whole bottle of wine 🤦‍♀️ but it was sunny, we were out, we saw nice people- sometimes you gotta just live, guilt free.

tomorrow I am going to walk Maggie by the river for a paddle walk and then chill all day, go to the supermarket but otherwise just have a restful day. It’s going to be hot, it’s Sunday, I am going to chill in my hammock and enjoy. ☀️

Good morning everyone and happy Sunday.

@thenewaveragebear1983 that looks so beautiful and inviting, you must live in the most lovely part of the country.

im having a very lazy day. I don’t know if i mentioned it but all my dogs have very upset tummies (too hot and too many rich treats) so we aren’t even going for a walk today. I’m going to have a bath, wash my hair and then just be lazy and sit under a parasol in the garden.

yesterdays food was very good but today is chocolate day, the one day i allow myself to indulge to stop me eating it the rest of the week. I love the sun but it’s too hot to do anything mildly productive and it is Sunday so all chores are postponed 😁

have a fabulous day, this hot spell won’t last for ever so enjoy it while you can.

TalkToTheHand123 · 14/07/2025 07:49

Hi all. I've had a very iffy tummy since Friday night, presuming it was the pizza takeaway. Feeling stuffed after eating a lot less than my usual amounts and in a bit more control of food intake.

I'm trying to plan how not to stuff myself with two weeks of an all you can eat buffet in a few days. I'm thinking pile on the fruit, drink plenty soup and have small portions of other foods, like curries and try avoid burgers, sausages and hotdogs.

triplecheeese · 14/07/2025 11:31

Hello everyone, looks like a lovely weekend!

I managed a hot and humid 11 mile run on Saturday and then took the kids to football and was standing in the sun at the pitch so was feeling terrible by Saturday evening, heat exhaustion I think. I had a bath and slept more deeply than I have in ages so woke up like a new woman on Sunday. Had family over for a bbq and now have plenty of leftovers.

Ready for the heatwave to end!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/07/2025 20:20

I had a good day today, ending up on 1300 cals and 100g protein. I ended up drinking wine again last night, my dd and her boyfriend cane round and we had a few drinks with them. I definitely noticed the effect of alcohol plus a poor nights sleep today, I felt quite jittery and anxious all day and it’s not a nice feeling. I listened to my hypno recording at lunch and that helped a little bit. I went for a run this morning, it was still horribly muggy and warm, I am quite looking forward to some rain tomorrow!

tomorrow is my office day, I will pack my lunch and take fruit. I was going to take some cakes in as it’s my birthday on the weekend but half the team are not coming in so I am not going to which is good (for me) because there won’t be any temptation!

Hi all

oh my goodness what a morning I’ve had! A month ago I made a hospital appointment (nothing serious) at my small hospital in town for today at 8.15 am. A confirmation letter was sent and I checked the date and time, all ok so we planned to walk down early. Last night as I was getting everything ready for an early start I realised that the hospital venue had changed to one about 8 miles away. I know on the phone they’d said my local one so rang DP and re-arranged.

i was up at 6 am and we left in plenty of time so that we could make sure of parking and finding our way through the labyrinth of corridors at the much bigger hospital. We had to wait a very long time and we were moved further down a corridor three times. We were then told there’d been a mistake and we should’ve been at my local hospital. My appointment was for half an hour but we saw someone for less than five minutes and in that time she just kept telling us that she’d missed her morning coffee and hadn’t even put the parking on her car because of us! We left and paid £3.20 parking.

When I got home, after many phone calls trying to get to the right department, I managed to talk it over with a member of staff, stressing I wanted the local hospital to know the reason I had missed that appointment and It was not my fault. It then transpired I also had been given an appointment that day at 5 o’clock at the distant hospital 🙈, but they omitted to informed me. I refused to go.

because my appointment was five minutes or less, we didn’t actually get anywhere so I’ve had to make another appointment in another months time at my local hospital. I also tried to get in touch with my local hospital and they won’t let me speak to anyone there to explain. I am absolutely furious and was exhausted all day with all that happened, the inefficiency is astounding.

anyway back to the diet! I weighed on Saturday and had lost over 1 lb, I think it was actually 1.75 lbs, then came Sunday fun day. I always say I’m going to have a lazy day but don’t actually do it and was busy with housework all day. I did ease significantly on the diet and of course I had my weekly chocolate. Result - just a quarter of a pound off this morning 😂, not a gain but really a whole, massive quarter of a pound. I obviously have to re-think Sundays.

Food shopping. day tomorrow so I’ll try to make wise choices and see if I can lost at least one pound this week.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 15/07/2025 18:09

Oh no @poorpawsthat sounds like a right pain in the butt!

I had a weird day today, I have eaten well but I ate a whole box of strawberries and they were just so intensely sweet, I feel like I’ve eaten haribo all day! I’m tired tonight, I was going to walk Maggie but she’s tired too after being at doggie day care all day so we might just watch trashy tv and I will have a bath and early bed

OP posts:
poorpaws · 15/07/2025 18:24

I’ve had another busy day today. As I said yesterday it was food shopping this morning then I took the dogs out (it was one of those annoying dog walks where I met everyone I know and I just wanted to get on with my walk but everyone wanted to stop and talk). The rest of the day was spent cleaning the oven and the air fryers (I never even use my oven, I’ve always hated it but somehow it still manages to get dirty 🤷‍♀️).

tonight I’m not doing very much at all and will probably have an early night. So not an entirely exciting day, in-fact exceedingly boring. Food consumption has been okay-ish so far, but I am craving something very nice tonight like chocolate or ice cream or something equally calorific.

Have a good evening, everyone.

TalkToTheHand123 · 16/07/2025 09:24

Hi all. Pain from fun fair ride from 18 days ago is starting to ease now thankfully. Had iffy tummy for 5 days now which I think is from a takeaway friday night and a pasta salad box which has given me a lot less appetite. I have dropped 2 lbs under 14 stone and haven't been this weight for many years so quite pleased. Hoping I can keep it off though. Have been eating the odd tin of different types of beans which seem to help stop binging also.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/07/2025 10:42

@TalkToTheHand123 it’s amazing how these small injuries take so long to recover, hope you’re feeling a bit better. Great news on the weight loss

I weighed in at 152.6lbs today (woohoo, under 11 stone!) but that was after a 10km run so realistically I was dehydrated and at my lowest possible weight. I am annoyingly bobbing under and over the 11 stone point, I always have a ‘range’. However overall I think I’ve lost about 5lbs in the last few weeks (since starting my protein/fibre shakes). After this weekend I have 3 weekends until our holiday and I am planning to be super strict including no alcohol! I drank too much last weekend and I really really noticed the impact on my anxiety on Monday, it definitely affects me. Plus I reckon if I did 3 really focused weeks I could drop enough under 11st that I won’t put it all back while I’m away.

OP posts:
TalkToTheHand123 · 16/07/2025 23:24

I'm quite confident the protein shakes have contributed to ending my very long plateux. Even just adding a couple of teaspoons worth, although nowhere near as nice tasting, it does give some flavour and having a jug of it in the fridge is quite a useful reminder to drink more water.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/07/2025 06:48

@TalkToTheHand123 I 100% agree, I definitely think the protein/fibre boost has helped me in the last few weeks. I’ve lost 5/6 pounds since 1st June which is probably the longest consistent weight loss run I have had. I’m now only 7lbs from target. Yesterday I realised that it’s been a while since I have felt that uncontrollable sweet tooth and raised the biscuits or eaten the kids treats. I have had sweet things but not been constantly craving them and once I’ve had my thing I have been able to stop. The protein powder does work out quite expensive, actually the fibre powder is more so, but total cost is about £1 per day. I have found a brand of protein online which is £16.99 for 1kg whereas in Tesco I was paying £10-12 for 450g sometimes more.

it’s raining here today, no run for me as I did 10km yesterday but i will try to do a strength workout later, probably arms as my legs are really tired! I’ve not decided on my food today, very likely to be salad lunch but dinner I’m not sure, I have a few sachets and meal kit type things in so I will very likely use one of those.
