Looking for a weight loss buddy and friend

Like lots of us I want to try and lose weight in the new year and would really like to have someone to do this with, swap ideas, how the day has gone etc. I am thinking of using the intermittent fasting method and have 2 stone to lose. Is there anyone who would be interested in a weight loss buddy / friend to engage with?

I continue to follow my cheap fb no carb (low carb) meal plan and so far so good.
Down 6.2 since the first.
Walking a minimum of 8K steps a day.
28.2 lbs to go sadly

Would you mind posting what you’re eating? I am failing spectacularly.

@GildedRage mine might be different from the person you quoted but might be helpful. I've lost nearly 7 stone in just over a year I cut out all cheese, bread, pasta, pizza and heavily cut down on dairy- oat milk instead of dairy etc. I stick to approximately 1200-1400 calories (did 1000-1200 the first 6 months) and have done very little additional walking/exercise. That's it. Still losing and very close to healthy bmi at last (started with bmi of 44 now 27. It was hard at first but became really easy fairly quickly. It helped that my gallbladder was the problem so cutting those foods out meant no pain as well as healthy weight loss (1-2lbs a week). It's definitely doable with patience and dogged determination. Good luck, you are doing great Flowers

That weight loss is amazing! Well done!

@AmazingGraze thank you 🌟

GildedRage · 11/01/2025 03:19

thank's @spackleplumb i've done this loss/gain/loss many times and manage to hold the weight stable for 2+ years but then i get tired of the constant counting and weighing and take my eye off the ball. and in 6-8 months i can quickly bounce up to the 165 range (this time 175 :(, but certainly less than my highest of 192)
@AmazingGraze this is the fb ad that caught my eye. Personalized No Carbs Diet Meal Plans | NoCarbsChallenge.com

for each meal and 2 snacks there are multiple options.
today's breakfast was a porridge made of almond milk and chia seeds and 1 oz of berries, a bit of yogurt and some almond slivers (about 350 calories). lunch was a quick soup made of zucchini and chicken broth included some cheese, again comes out to 300+ calories. supper was taco seasoned beef, with avocado and tomatoes on a bed of lettuce (all weighed and again coming in in the 350 cal range). the two snacks were celery sticks with peanut butter and coffee with chocolate protein powder and whipping cream.
the daily fruit is almost always 1 ounce but each meal is heavy with veggies lettuce or zucchini and cheese.
i'm full and not constantly thinking of my next meal (which is not my experience when i do my own low cal meals).

Started last Monday at 177.8 lbs.
Weigh in today 174.2 lbs
Loss of 3.6 lbs.
Really pleased with this as I had a couple of wobbles in the week: fish and chips on Friday ( but I don't eat the batter) and friend came round yesterday with cake.
Back to the plan today and feeling very positive after my weigh in.

anicecuppateaa · 13/01/2025 13:48

I completely fell off the wagon last week, after initially losing 3lbs. Back on it today. Had salmon and veg for lunch. Have decided to focus on sustainable changes, so for now cutting out sweet treats and alcohol rather than OMAD.

BlueLightBetty · 13/01/2025 14:13

Late to the party I know but can I join you all?

YearsofYears · 13/01/2025 14:37

Had a difficult week last week in terms of exercise and general motivation but cut alcohol and cut down on treats and lost approx 400g. Not much I know but going for small and sustainable this year.

BlueLightBetty · 13/01/2025 15:52

I've got around 3 stone to lose in total but my first target is 2 stone before a wedding in April. I've already stopped drinking and have downloaded the nutrachek app in readiness. I'm also going to go to the gym at least 3 days a week and get out for a walk everyday.
Posting on here for companionship and accountability!

GildedRage · 13/01/2025 16:59

Kind of nice to hear I’m not the only one that’s had a wobble.
I did look back and I’m down 2lbs from last Monday.
168.2 this am
I'm focused on 165.
Welcome to the new people and positive vibes for those poking along since the 1st.

BlueLightBetty · 13/01/2025 17:56

@GildedRage I've had a wobble too which is my motivation for joining the thread! I started on 1st Jan at 12st 4 (I'm 5ft 4, so BMI 29.4). Heaviest I've ever been. I do 'Weigh in Wednesday' and last week had lost 5lb. But since Friday we've been staying with elderly family and it's VERY slow and sedentary and I don't have any control about what and when we eat. Refusal is seen as a major rebuff! So I definitely will have put on weight by the time I get home on Wednesday and feel like I need a group to help when things get tricky in future!

Indierocknroller · 15/01/2025 07:39

Wednesday weigh in - 3lbs down - very happy with that 😀 next mini goal is to move out out the 12st bracket 🤞

Hope everyone has had a good week, but if not, that's okay too....keep going, we've got this 💪

Start weight: 12st 8lbs (1st Jan 25)
Goal Weight:10st

8th Jan: 12st 4.5lbs
15th Jan: 12st 1.5lbs

Cuppa2sugars · 15/01/2025 07:51

Well done indie rockn roller I’m joining you too. I have 3 stone to lose, but if I can just lose a little each week I’ll be happy. I’m starting to cut out all non essential food, and eat healthily. I could do Pilates but I haven’t energy to run anymore.

This is a very inspirational thread.

anicecuppateaa · 15/01/2025 09:05

Well done on the weight loss everyone! Since re-starting (only 2 days ago) I have avoided sweet treats which are my downfall. Not sure I’ve lost anything but must be a good habit…

GildedRage · 15/01/2025 17:24

weigh in wednesday; 167.5 down 7.5 from my starting weight of 175.

i see the occasional carb sneaking back into my diet but doubt it's taking me over calorie wise. the university indoor track i go to was closed over the weekend (friday till all day sunday) for a special event but looks good for this week.
visualizing 165 as my next mini goal.

Rimtimtagidimdim · 16/01/2025 09:30

Nice to see some good results for people Star

Weigh in today shows 2.4kg down at the 2 week mark - I know I could be doing more to speed that along but also don't want to be too strict and make it unsustainable. (Hopefully) slow and steady wins the race!

HolyGrailSeeker · 16/01/2025 10:25

Hi all (and especially the new joiners)

I’ve been awol with a nasty virus that completely knocked me out, so I didn’t stick to diet at all in that time (just trying to eat sensibly) but luckily haven’t put any weight back on.

Weighed in today at 76.20kg so 3.8kg down over 19 days. Not bad overall!

Hoping to get some good steps and activity around the house in today and possibly get to the gym next week. 🤞

Ecci · 20/01/2025 10:25

Weekly weigh in today:

Started on the 6th
6 Jan 177.8 lb
13 Jan 174.2 lbs
20 Jan 170.8 lbs

This week's loss is 3.4 lbs and a total loss so far of 7 lbs.
Target is 150 lbs.

I've not been well over the last week and not felt like eating much, which has helped enormously. Haven't even been able to walk the dogs so I'm a bit surprised it's gone down so much.
I know this level of loss won't last but I'm enjoying it while it does.

Indierocknroller · 22/01/2025 07:36

Weekly weigh in. Only 1/2lb this week, which feels a little disappointing, but every little helps. Hope everyone has had a good week?

Start weight: 12st 8lbs (1st Jan 25)
Goal Weight:10st

8th Jan: 12st 4.5lbs
15th Jan: 12st 1.5lbs
22nd Jan: 12st 1lb

GildedRage · 28/01/2025 20:38

the middle of the month was a huge fail when it came to food choices especially no carb/low carb.
the cravings were impossible for me to resist.
of course i knew full well how my choices would impact the scale but what really gets my goat is i can't have one off day and QUICKLY get back on track to better choices.
anyway this morning i woke up with a terrible headache and knew it was days of bread and some pastries.
so today is a better start.

YearsofYears · 28/01/2025 21:44

Today was my weigh in day and I was 900grams down. My biggest loss in awhile which I put down to more consistent exercise. I'm, enjoying the combination of exercise and not overdoing it with food or drink this time round.
