Hi everyone

Or you can alternate GREEN and RED days if you like, Don't think you can eat too much if it's FREE foods you're filling up on.

OP posts:
supersaluki · 13/05/2008 12:24

I only do green days as I dont eat meat or fish
I lose weight more slowly than friends who to mostly red or a mix of red and green

can anyone share the pw this week please

nappyaddict · 13/05/2008 13:10

the latest password i have is prawn but i don't know if there's a new one.

nikkid21 · 13/05/2008 14:07

The low fat mullerlight are free. The muller amour, and yogs with cakebits in are not.

The low fat supernoodle to go BBQ flavour are deifinitlet free. Don't know about the other as that is the only one that I eat.

You can do red all week or green all week it's up to you. Personally I started off in mailnly green days but found that I had to start doing more red as I got closer to target. However that might just be because I can eat half a pack of pasta in one sitting.

Tommy · 13/05/2008 15:44

Hey..... I lost 3.5 lbs this week

nikkid21 · 13/05/2008 17:12

well done tommy.

I'm about to go weigh in now. half a pound to target but not that hopeful.

BouncingTurtle · 13/05/2008 19:44

Well done tommy!
Good luck Nikki!

I lost a pound!
But think I will have to stop going to class, ds has been really playing up last few times, and have had to leave before or during Image therapy and then is extremely ratty. I really shouldn't be taking him out the house at that time because I then end up rushing his bedtime routine and it makes him cranky even more cranky than usual. He is teething and is a crap sleeper, and I really, really need to find a routine and stick to it!
My consultant was thinking of holding a later class on a Tuesday, if so I may go along to that when it starts, as then I'll be able to leave from home as dh will be back from work.
Will carry on with you guys still if that is ok?

sticktoit · 13/05/2008 20:06

BT - been there so can totally sympathise. My DD is 3 now and I still wouldn't take her. When I did it was a complete nightmare and I p'eed everyone else off too so now, if DP isn't home, I don't go!

But totally still stay on here and post, good you've still got the motivation to carry on.

Well done on the 1lb off.

Tommy - 3.5lbs well done you.....

supersaluki · 13/05/2008 20:25

well done on those losses girls

wangle99 · 13/05/2008 21:53

Hi all

Have decided to join slimming world tomorrow night. have been doing ww and have got very complacement and need something different.

Will have a read through of all your threads!

wangle99 · 13/05/2008 21:55

Meant to say can I join you here please ladies

Think will need lots of advice as I get going!

sticktoit · 13/05/2008 22:14

Welcome wangle99! SW is great and this thread is very supportive with loads of tips and recipes etc.

Having tried both WW and SW, I much prefer SW......it takes a little longer to get used to and I had a problem at first where I compared SW syns to WW points and thought it was very restrictive but once into it realised the difference, plus I was always so hungry on WW!

Good luck x

wangle99 · 14/05/2008 07:06

Hi sticktoit thank you for the welcome.

I lost a stone with ww before christmas and it was working well BUT I gained it all back at christmas and then some and now I am so hungry its not working and I'm getting miserable.

Plus I looked on the sw website and there is a class near my home tonight so no time like the present!

Look forward to chatting to you all

nikkid21 · 14/05/2008 08:11

Well done on the loss BT and welcome wangle99. This forum is like my second group and really helps for recipe ideas and motivation.

I lost 2lb, so am now at target. It's taken me since the end of September to lose 2st 3lb and I'm now (just) in the healthy weight range on the bmi thing. For the first time since I was 16 the scales register an 11 in the stones box (I'm 5ft 9)

I've committed to go to group and stay for image therapy for the next 4 weeks. Apparently maintaining is actually more difficult than losing as the temptation to go back to wolfing bars of chocolate and bottles of wine is pretty high.

toadette · 14/05/2008 09:26

Well done, nikkid on reaching target - think you and Tommy should be our slimmers of the week

Well done to everyone else on their losses. Looking forward to the SPEED week challenge, I managed to lose 0.5lbs last night but then had night out with pizza and wine so need to get back into it.

Welcome, wangle
Agree with sticktoit, the WW approach is totally different from SW. I've lost a stone after each dc on WW and it does work but I got so fed up counting points and viewing my food in terms of figures. SW focuses more on filling up on wide range of healthy foods and the website is really helpful. I had about a stone to shift to get me from top of BMI acceptable range back to the middle of it which suits my build better - have been a bit slow shifting it (due to going off-plan Easter and bank hol) but the weight does come off without really thinking of it as a diet. Good luck with your first class

BouncingTurtle · 14/05/2008 10:47

Nikki - well done!! That is fantastic news, you should be very proud of yourself, only a couple of weeks ago you seemed very frustrated and convinced you wouldn't get to target and now you have!
Keep up the good work!
Welcome Wangle!

Thanks for the support. I also felt it wasn't fair on others to bring ds especially and he needed lots of distracting distractions to keep him calm, and then he would kick off anyway!

supersaluki · 14/05/2008 11:30

Well done everyone and especially Nikki - and yes maintaining is hard - I did it for 6 months then lost the plot rather when I gave up smoking
welcome wangle I too did ww before slimmingworld that was a three years ago now - and I kept passing out (found it difficult as a vegetarian on ww) doctor told me to NOT do ww and suggested SW to me which really does suit my woe much much better - at in my first week I put on a couple of pounds before I began to shed them (think it was the change of plan and my body readjusting to more sensible eating and hanging on to the calories) then I managed to shed a total of 5 stone - I am only telling you this so you dont panic if you put on a little (most people dont) I just dont want you to panic if that should happen

BouncingTurtle its quite possible to do well on slimming world without class - and this is a great group for motivation and support - best of luck
I found when I had to stop going to class that as long as I wrote everything down I kept on track much better than not writing it down

speed foods on my list for today are

herb salad, tomatoes, cue, mixed fruit berries (I crush them and swirl them through a free yog then freeze) - right off to do my pilates
good luck today everyone

Bunch · 14/05/2008 11:56

I joined last night. Sat through meeting and came home feeling very motivated. Just been to the supermarket and stocked up on loads of food that I think is right! Hope I can keep up the motivation tho. I think if I don't loose in the first week I'd be tempted to give up.

SWlurker · 14/05/2008 12:07

Oh poo! I made a salad last night for lunch today and have just realised its still in the fridge at home! Oh well, I can have it later. Off to sandwich shop for lunch then, will buy a JP & salad, and a fruit salad for maximum speed food!!

SWlurker · 14/05/2008 12:13

Forgot to say a massive Well Done Nikki!! I got to target at SW years ago - maintained for a while and then later put it all back on which is why i'm here again. DEFINATELY keep going long term, even if its just to say hi, get weighed and go home. I stayed at target when I did that, and it crept back up when I didn't!!

And hi to new people I'm the one who is bruised from falling off the bandwaggon so much at the moment!!

sticktoit · 14/05/2008 16:05

Wow target! Such a distant place for me ....

Have managed to stay neutral today but I'm bloody STARVING!

Have just gulped my last drop of 2 litres of water and need yet another wee!

Hmmmm, what to have for tea?

3andnomore · 14/05/2008 16:25

Is there room for one more?
I decided that I had to get my ever increasing butt into gear and joined SW this morning....did it a few years ago and it worked well.
Well...went through all the reading today and will start tomorrow with the actual eating plan.
I am so very annoyed with myself though...I slimmed down to 10 st last year and am now 12st.1/2 Ibs....sigh...! I would love to be back down to 10st by my Birthday, which is beginning of August, but not sure if that might not be a tad to over ambitious....but I shall give it my best shot....

Shiraz · 14/05/2008 16:50

Hope you don't mind me joining in??

I started Slimming World just over 5 weeks ago and have so far lost 11.5lbs! .

Last week i maintained - as i did in my second week - although that is thanks to wine! (well last week was so gorgeous

We go on our jollies to Rhodes 4 weeks today - so i am so chuffed that i have lost mearly a stone! I attended a group in Jan last year but it wasn't for me and left me feeling deflated and i put over half a stone on!! So i sought out a new group about 4 miles away and i stay every week (unless i am working).

I need 2.5lbs to lose this week to reach a stone lost!

Dp is just cooking Dinner now - we are having roast chicken, and sugar snap peas with roasted mushrooms, peppers and onion! I had strawberries, raspberries and blueberries for brekkie smothered in a vamilla mullerlight (DELICIOUS MY FAVE BREKKIE AT THE MIN) and for lunch i had applewood cheddar, lettuce, onion and cucumber with extra light hellmans in a wholemeal roll, and apple and two satsumas.

Tonight i'm goign to ahve a couple of glasses of wine and a hi fi bar.

Must admit i seemt o have more red days but am going to try the pasta n sauce quiche tomorrow (i usually do egg, cottage cheese, veggies and ham or bacon) and last night i made home-made pork burgers (scrummy)

Okay, okay i can talk for England.

Oops best introduce myself then i am Becs, 26 and mummy to my 4 year old beauty Georgia-Mae and we live in North Lincolnshire

xx

nappyaddict · 14/05/2008 23:40

made a simple curry today.

I fried some curry powder, onion and garlic in frylight. Added some prawns, a can of tomatoes, bit of passata and a large tablespoon of branston pickle. The pickle really made it!!

it was a variation of "Curry in a hurry" - i hadn't been shopping -

Serves 4

1 onion
4 cloves garlic
2 grated carrots
Half a cabbage
2 tsps finely grated ginger
2 tbsp curry powder
400g tin chopped tomatoes
60ml vegetable stock
200g natural yoghurt or Quark/fromage frais
1 tbsp chopped mint
1 tbsp chopped coriander

Chop the onions and crush the garlic. Spray a frying pan with Fry Light and place on heat - add the vegetables, onion, garlic, and ginger and fry for one to two minutes before adding curry powder.
Stir and cook for another couple of minutes then add tomatoes and stock. Bring to the boil and reduce heat to simmer gently for 12-15 minutes.
Heat gently then add quark/yoghurt/fromage frais and herbs.
