Sticktoit good luck with weigh in and thanks for the info
SWlurker - thanks for the info as for food I find I am eating a lot of salads too - I find them more palatable if I add in lots of herbs like parsly basil and coriander and have strongish green leaves rather than just lettuce

I did post a recipe for frittata that I make often at this time of year and then it makes really good cold food and on green days can be filled with pasta or rice or potatoes along with the veggies - or on red days bacon ham chicken etc

another thing I often have is couscous some of them if made up without fat are free and you can add all sorts of veg to that - I often have roasted veg (well actually I spray with olive oil fry light and cook on the george forman of shove on the bbq and have with cous cous - but I too love sw chips - have you tried new potatoes cut into wedges and cooked the same way with a shwartz shoz over them YUMMY

supersaluki · 12/05/2008 10:59

Sorry Letuseatcake didnt see your post
good luck with the running I hope it doesnt get too hot for you - remember to take extra water - one water bottle in each hand would be like taking weights

McDreamy · 12/05/2008 11:01

Have decided to boost my weight loss by doing a bit more phys! Went to the gym this morning for an hour
Need more stickers on my book too

toadette · 12/05/2008 12:52

Hi everyone
This sunny weather is great but playing havoc with my diet. I haven't really been following the plan this week at all, hoping to start afresh after WI tomorrow night.

Hope you enjoy your run, letus. I did 5k at the weekend, building up to 10k hopefully soon.

Lurker, some pasta or rice based salads for a cold lunch? I really like tomato and mozzarella with basil too or greek salad with feta and olives. Frittata sounds nice as well.

Right then who wants a challenge week again? Its summer and I'm feeling fruity... well, like I can face eating a lot of fruit and veg and you know what that means... Speed foods!

So how about it - we all try to eat more speed foods this week - there's loads in season - get your food diary out, re-discover your local greengrocer or fruit & veg aisle in the supermarket, try new things and SPEED your way to a good loss this week!!

Anyone up for it?

toadette · 12/05/2008 12:55

I'll join you this week for the SPEED challenge

SWlurker · 12/05/2008 13:38

Yes! Knew you would Toadette!! Anyone else?

Mmm thanks I will have to go shopping and stock up for a summer of cold yummy foods. I have a chicken pasta salad and a fruit salad from the sandwich lady today - too much mayo in the pasta salad but its a lot better then the sandwich I was going to grab out of desperation.

Feeling pretty happy about SW today - doing mix 2 match, but not sure if I'll still be saying that after the bbq tonight - we are going to have one after a bit of "Go Ape" - how's this for body magic, a high rise adventure course through a forest - think I'm going to lose a lot of weight by s**ting myself!! sorry to those with a delicate disposition!!

Me too
I am in

nikkid21 · 12/05/2008 14:29

I'm in - had a veg stirfry (no noodles)which was completley free for lunch and will have some chicken and salad for tea tonight. Feel like I need the extra veg as I went camping at the weekend. There is only so much sausage, bacon & eggs that a girl can stand.

SWlurker · 12/05/2008 15:00

I've had melon and strawberries today, and a piddly little bit of mixed veg in the pasta salad. Also had chilli flakes in cous cous but don't know if that counts lol!!

supersaluki · 12/05/2008 15:34

so far today I have had
strawberries blackcurrants redcurrants for breakfast (with mango - but I dont think thats a speed food and also pineapple)

lunch was mixed veg in a frittata

dinner will be herb salad and coleslaw with a couple of quorn sausages and jersey royals

so so far today I have done quite well on speed foods

sticktoit · 12/05/2008 16:45

Off to weigh in shortly but I'll join the "speed week", eaten the best part of a cooked chicken today.

I'll be back!

supersaluki · 12/05/2008 16:50

god luck at weigh in

sticktoit · 12/05/2008 19:28

Yay lost the 1lb for my 1/2 stone! Also I'm under the 12st mark now which looks much nicer on the scales!

Bring on he speed foods!!

supersaluki · 12/05/2008 20:33

Sticktoit that is FANTASTIC
I too want to see that 11 and not a 12 on the scales - that is my first target

how inspiring it is to find someone who has just got there

sticktoit · 12/05/2008 20:53

Thanks Super - I've done it before though, at my best I got to 11st 1lb but always put it back on. This time though I'm determined and in a different state of mind, am also exercising which I wasn't doing before. I always felt deprived before and craved the crap I would usually binge on but this time I just don't want it - before this I did the Paul McKenna thing which I think might have changed my frame of mind! So super - you can do it!!!

Anyway back to the subject, today for Speed Foods I've had, chicken, tin of tuna, onion, strawberries, raspberries....might try and fit in another before bed!

nappyaddict · 13/05/2008 08:01

where can i find out what the speed foods are?

toadette · 13/05/2008 09:12

Well done sticktoit

NappyAddict, they're the foods in the SW manual which are marked 's', the ones marked 'ss' are superspeed. The website maybe lists them too? (Sorry can't check as forgotten last week's password, won't get new one until WI tonight).

Bunch · 13/05/2008 09:15

Hi all. I'm due to start SW tonight and am about to go shopping so I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips about any good foods to have in ready. HELP!!

toadette · 13/05/2008 09:28

Hi bunch, if there's anyone else about then they might be able to add to this list

  • mullerlight yoghurts (lots, as these are FREE so can be eaten as snacks)
  • Laughing Cow light cheese triangles and/or babybel light
  • Nimble or Weightwatchers wholemeal bread
  • Ryvita (including their crackerbread) if you like crispbreads
  • dried pasta and rice for GREEN days
  • if you like baked potatoes then stock up on potatoes for GREEN days (and baked beans for a FREE filling on a green day)
  • Maris piper potatoes can also be used to make Slimmming World chips, yum! (Will need a bottle of FRY Light from supermarket for these too)
  • eggs
  • Lean meat if you want to do RED days or to use as a Healthy Extra
  • lots of fresh fruit and vegetables (nearly all fruit and veg are FREE on both red and green days)
  • semi-skimmed milk
  • you can have packets of 'Savoury Rice' (Bachelor's, I think) free on GREEN days if you like them

Good luck tonight

tullytwo · 13/05/2008 09:37

are the low fat super noodles free on green days too?

I am trying to get my head around this diet as dont go to group meetings - it seems I can eat too much!

Is it ok to do all green for a week and then swap or how often do you have to alternate?

tullytwo · 13/05/2008 09:39

Are any mullerlight yogurts free not just the fat free ones?

tullytwo · 13/05/2008 09:56

anyone?

toadette · 13/05/2008 10:05

Tullytwo, the 98% fat free ones are free as far as I can see from the directory. But that's for the Batchelor's ones, supermarket own brands may differ.
The 'virtually fat-free' Mullerlight range of yoghurts are FREE excluding those with cake pieces. The Halo range and mullerlight yog drinks all have syns.

Our group leader told us you can do all GREEN but not all RED. If you like RED days then you need to do one or two GREEN days in the week too.

The syns Directory is really useful if you're trying to do the diet at home. Available from the SW website or Ebay sometimes have some. Good luck, it's a great diet once you get the hang of the rules.
