Hi everyone

Nice new thread for us all x

OP posts:
Pollyanna · 27/05/2008 11:29

furball I am pretty overweight (for me, I don't think I would technically fall into the obese category though) - I have never been this heavy, but in the past I have lost weight really quickly after having a baby (as I always pile it on when pg), but this time it is being a bit resistant.

Hopefully it will come off now...
(am feeling pretty hungry atm - I think i must spend my time snacking usually, which would explain the weight gain!)

SWlurker · 27/05/2008 12:15

Hiya Sticktoit - maybe put in the ingredients into the syns calculator online? lol that will probably say 3!! If not I'd probably could 1 1/2 and go for the medium, but 3 syns either way in a week won't kill the diet

Wedding was fantastic thank you - caught up with loads of people, I won't mention the food or drink, but I have the injury to prove why attacking the bread and cheese at the end of the night is not the brightest of ideas - bread knife turned out to be very sharp

Date it went okay-ish. We got on, but he was a stroppy so & so (I'd told him to meet me somewhere that turned out to be shut! oh, and I was late because I got lost...) - won't be seeing him again. V awkward moment saying goodbye in car park then he wheelspan his car away!! Ah well, I've got the bug now, will be out & about finding myself a few more dates now lol!!

sticktoit · 27/05/2008 15:22

Aren't women supposed to be late for dates???

Thanks for the sausage info. Think I'll count them as 1.5 each just to be cautious.

I just tried eating a tomato (I know some of you are thinking 'yeah so what') but I don't like them and when I sliced it up and put some on my crackerbreads I felt like someone on "I'm a celebrity" being presented with a grubb or something but it wasn't as bad as I thought but there again I wasn't rushing into the kitchen to cut myself some more!! One step in the right direction though eh - trying new things and all that!

Possible reason for another slow loss this week.......AF came today, water retention maybe???

Hello everyone!
Sticktoit - well done on the weight loss!

Pollyanna - welcome!

SWLurker - sorry your date was not so successful, he sound like a bit of a tit! Hope the next one goes better.

mullerlight · 27/05/2008 20:39

I think red days might be better for me as I don't feel so bloated today (wink).

Have a sneaky feeling all that blinkin pasta last week bunged me up (soz if t.m.i)

BouncingTurtle · 28/05/2008 07:40

Stayed the same, too much pudding methinks
At first i was disheartened, then looked at the graph and realised that i have only gained once, so not putting it all back on!

SWlurker · 28/05/2008 08:50

Urgh went to class last night and re-joined. I have put on LOADS - almost back to where I started 4 weeks ago. I'm so glad my consultant rang me up last week and made me go to class, I feel awful about myself at the moment but I would feel worse if I'd let more slip back on.

My vow this week is back to basics - stick to measured healthy extras, no cheating "oh thats 6 syns = a healthy extra" and I solemly vow to write down everything that passes my lips! Would love a brilliant starting loss this week, even if it is re-starting!

So today - a hifi bar and a can of diet coke on the way to work, I have apples on my desk, and a bag full of free food under my desk so haven't decided on lunch yet. Am going for the 2-3 syns a day, with a little more at weekends route again Just as long as I stick to 70 syns in the week. Going shopping tonight to make sure I have the right food in, so I don't grab something ridiculously high in syns if I'm in a rush.

sticktoit · 28/05/2008 09:36

Morning all...

BT - if pudding is the result of a maintain I'd be pretty chuffed with that, bet you enjoyed them too!!!

Lurker - well done for going back. It is v.hard going back after putting on what you've worked so hard to lose, been there myself several times. You can do it!!!!

Mullerlight - I agree that mostly green days makes you erm bunged up a bit. I do alternate red and green now which seems to keep the wind at bay !!

I'm going out for lunch with my nan today, hopefully can go somewhere with a jacket pot and avoid temptation, shall report back later!

SWlurker · 28/05/2008 09:46

Forgot to say, not sure if someone has beaten me to it but password is Apricot.

Has anyone tried the new hifi bars? I quite like them but very dry - probably best with a mullerlight! They've got twice the fibre in them as the other ones, so might be useful for M and STI!

M - have you tried wholemeal pasta? I really like it, that should help things to keep moving, so will adding things like like sweetcorn (sorry, TMI probably).

I like the sound of the rainbow pasta bake in the magazine, will have to try that and the pizza.

mullerlight · 28/05/2008 13:38

SW- Thanks, I will try some as I really enjoy green days. Boiled some noodles and added asparagus tips, fresh basil and some low fat cheese oh and baby toms. Mix altogether ....scrummy. Also, in the 'TASTE FO SUMMER" recipe book there is a really lovely dish-Crab and asparagus tagliatelle. Delish :0).

mullerlight · 28/05/2008 13:47

Such a donut- forgot to put recipe in last post!

2 teaspoons of olive oil
4oz button mushrooms
1/4 pint of dry white whine
juice of 1/2 lemon
6oz crab meat
salt and pepper
1 lb asparagus
8oz tagliatelle
2-3 tablespoons of natural low fat fromage frais
2 tbsp fresh parsley

1- Heat olive oil in frying pan for 2-3 mins and saute the mushrooms for 2-3 mins
2- Add wine and lemon juice and cook for 4-5 mins (unti reduced by half) Add crab meat and seasoning.
3- Cut each asparagus stalk into 3 pieces and cook lightli in salted boiling water for 5 mins. Drain and add crab sauce.
4-Cook tagliatelle for 8-10 mins
5-Drain pasta and add crab sauc etc add a little fromage frais and sprinkle with parsley

I added some more lemon juice to the dish at the end. Really lovely, even my hubby loved it and he is dead fussy.

sticktoit · 28/05/2008 17:10

Just to say that I remained quite saintly today and when I went out for lunch with my nan I had a cheese and mushroom omelette with a jacket potato.....maybe a little too much cheese and I'm pretty certain it wasn't cooked using fry light but on the whole not bad considering the other options available.

Oh I agree replacing white pasta with wholemeal, not much difference taste wise but makes all the difference, for want of a better phrase, fibre wise!!

SWlurker · 28/05/2008 17:19

Well done STI (do you mind the unfortunate shortening?! I'm very lazy)

I had a MASSIVE lunch - loads of it - tesco mediteranian cous cous (1/2 syn) with mena meanz mexican style (free) then a jacket potato with HEA 6 L.cow light triangles and some pineapple cottage cheese. I'm worried becuase there was loads and I was full but not stuffed afterwards - still managed my hifi for a chocolate kick!

had a tin of spaghetti for a snack mid afternoon (random) and will have a light dinner - maybe pack of supernoodles before I go to squash and swimming tonight. Get me, mrs healthy & on plan - (lets hope mrs healthy shows her face more often !!)

SWlurker · 28/05/2008 17:20

lol sorry I mean MEAN BEANZ not mena meanz...

A small celebration for myself - I managed my first day back on plan pretty well - considering I'm allowing myself 2-3 syns a day in the week and more at weekends, I had 1 1/2 syns yesterday. Had sweet tooth craving after dinner last night but managed it by having a yoghurt with a teaspoon of honey dolloped into it.

Tried to make hash browns last night and failed spectacularly!! Don't know where I'd seen it but grated potato, onion and an egg fried in fry light, so thought I'd give it a go. Made one big one, thinking I could cut it into slices to eat. Cooked it on the hob for a bit and finished the top off under the grill - but the result was an eggy base and a dry solid top - and the two fell away from each other - I was laughing so much!! still tasted nice though, just in a bowl becuase the slices wouldn't keep their shape without falling apart!!

BouncingTurtle · 29/05/2008 10:09

Well done.. but oh dear about the has browns!
I've had things like that happen to me!

sticktoit · 29/05/2008 10:37

Lurker - a good start to your new journey!!

I have cooking disasters all the time, I am an awful cook and my 'experiments' usually turn out pretty inedible - thank god for pasta eh!!

Have a really sore throat today

assumpta · 29/05/2008 18:05

Hi, i wonder if someone could advise me. I am doing my food diary online and have entered info for fresh egg pasta. It asks for 100g information and the syn value comes up as 2.5 per portion. As I have had just 56g, do I have these points? Sorry very confused.

assumpta · 29/05/2008 18:06

Sorry, i mean 'half' these points!

BouncingTurtle · 29/05/2008 20:05

What portion size did you enter? if you entered 56g, then the syns would be 2.5. If you entered 100g, the syns would be 1.5 (rounding up).
HTH

mullerlight · 29/05/2008 20:06

Hello all and a hi to assumpta.

Assumpta- fairly new too so sorry I can't helpw ith your question but am sure one of the others can answer. How are you finding it so far?

Lurker- Loving the sound of your dish (even though ir fell apart)

Made the most of my little boys (15 months old) nap this morning and made a macaroni and mushroom tortilla (in taste of summer recipe book) took 15 mins and took it to work today for lunch. It was really nice. If anyone wants the recipe let me know.

Never cook but some of the recipes are so easy that I have been enjoying it.

1/2 lb again this week. I think I'll start doing more red days for a change. I just seem to hit a brick wall with menu ideas and we have the same sort of stuff week in week out. I asked the leader last night if next week we all bring in our favourite recipes and you have to pick one out of a hat and cook it within the next week. There's one lady there who is now at target who makes some fantastic stuff, so I hope I get hers!

assumpta · 30/05/2008 07:35

Yes, I had put 100g so I did as you said. I am a new sw member. I do really good for a while and then lose it. I have no staying power, but hopefully this time. I have been quite good for the last few days, but only started back in earnest yesterday. I have a big party and dont know how to work it, it might be best just to write it off and start again tomorrow.
