Hi everyone

Nice new thread for us all x

OP posts:
3andnomore · 19/05/2008 20:24

Well, really hope you can find the cause of it all.

Joby1970 · 20/05/2008 13:48

sticktoit - remember a 1b a week is 4 stone in a year

BouncingTurtle · 20/05/2008 14:04

Sticktoit- Sorry you are disappointed with your weight loss. I've been there and know how frustrating it is. I think Joby1970 made a really good point that is worth remembering.

Went to Baby Cafe today, was very good, helped myself to lots of fruit, had one croissant (plain) and resisted helping myself to the pate, cheese, crusty white bread and bagels on offer![angel emoticon]
Weighing tomorrow, hope I have done ok!

Tommy · 20/05/2008 15:40

Well, my weekend wasn't too bad after all - I lost 1.5lbs today so I've got on to the stone below IYKWIM! I've lost 11lbs so far

sticktoit · 20/05/2008 20:04

Hey all and thanx for your wise words.

Went to docs who agreed to coming off mini-pill and when my next period comes I am going to discuss what to do next. Gosh what us gals have to do eh!!

p.s. Does anyone know this week's password, didn't catch it as a stormed out in a huff yesterday !!

supersaluki · 20/05/2008 21:00

Hi Sticktoit
I am sorry you are having problems

as for password I think someone said it was skipping - but if thats wrong someone will soon say

nikkid21 · 21/05/2008 07:46

This week's password is beetroot.

I gained half a pound but that's to be expected. Apparently it usually takes 4 or 5 weeks to get the weight stable once you are doing maintenance.

SWlurker · 21/05/2008 08:57

Sticktoit - have you thought about Implanon? I don't think it has as many side effects as some of the pills, and once its in its so hassle free.

I had the most GORGEOUS lunch yesterday. popped to tesco and bought Tesco light choices jacket potato with cheese (1 HEa for 1, there's 2 in a pack), and a tin of heinz mexican beanz. It went very well together.

Went "wedding outfit shopping" last night at trafford centre - i'm reasonably ok with the dress I've bought - only thing is I know this makes me very material but I wish it was Debenhams or a nice brand rather than Bonmarche!! It was the only dress I could find that I liked and I am on a very tight budget, so spending £16 on that rather than £60+ on a debenhams one meant I could buy a few accessories and shows to go with it instead of making do. BUT... I can't get around the fact that its a cheapo brand!! Anyway I'm relatively happy it disguises my lumps and bumps, and I left the trafford centre at 9.45pm STARVING hungry - but feel saintly because I dug out 2 alpen light bars in my car (I had a B left), ate an apple I'd been carrying around all day and went home to a mugshot rather than stopping at the chippy which I was dying to do

oh - and I have a date on Saturday! its been a very long time, haven't a clue what to wear!! Anyone got any suggestions?!

BouncingTurtle · 21/05/2008 09:01

SWLurker - Oh wow! A date! So what's it involve? Going down the pub, or for a meal or going to the pictures?
BTW I'm sure no-one else will be able to tell your new outfit is from Bon Marche!

BTW Weigh in this morning, have lost 1.5lbs, total 11.5lbs

SWlurker · 21/05/2008 10:17

Well done on WI BT. I think the success of the dress depends on my ability to wear it with self confidence!

I'm just going to meet him in a pub for a drink (we'll both be driving) - no food, imagine onion breath on a first date

toadette · 21/05/2008 15:20

Well done on the losses this week

I'm hanging my head in shame this week as I fell off the plan spectacularly and put on 3lbs this week! Really annoyed with myself because I was back under 10 stone with only 6lbs to my target weight loss of 1st 1lb. I'm back on the plan as from today and have been out running this morning.

I'm sure your new dress is lovely, lurker, have you a link to it on website? And the label means nothing, it could have been made in the same factory as those Debenham's dresses for all anyone knows! Enjoy your date on Saturday

Happy slimming everyone, please, please keep me in check this week!

SWlurker · 21/05/2008 16:46

Come on Toadette, you kick my bum I'll kick yours!!

(only don't kick me so hard it might bruise, if the date goes very well he will ask questions...!!) )

Had jacket potato, cheese and sweet chilli beans, spinach leaves, red pepper, sweetcorn and cucumber for lunch. And then I had seconds of the salad stuff with half a pot of cottage cheese. Delish and full, but it didn't stop the chocolate munchies attack. Still good though, it was 14 syns, so within the day's syns.

nappyaddict · 21/05/2008 20:21

I love yogurts so thought I'd post about the free ones I've tried. In Tesco it's only the tesco light choices bio yogurt, the healthy living bio yoghurt and the set one that is syn free. In Asda it's the good for you virtually fat free one or the smartprice one that is free. Asda do some flavoured yogurts like mullerlights which are free too - they are the ones in the good for you virtually fat free range. They are all free except for the lemon and orange one which is 1/2 syn. Tesco do healthy living yogurts. All of them are free accept for the greek one (1 syn), the apple pie one (1/2 syn) and the lemon cheesecake one (1.5 syns). The healthy living virtually fat free ones with cake pieces are free though. We also buy the Yeo Valley fat free one, Rachel's Organic Bio-live Natural Low Fat Yogurt, Total Greek 0% and Danone Activia - all of which are syn free. Does anyone know if the Rachel's Organic Fat Free Probiotic Bio-live Natural Set Yogurt and the tesco light choices yogurts are free - can't find them on syns online but I might have missed them.

nappyaddict · 21/05/2008 21:09

on a red day it says on the website you can have green or brown lentils as a healthy extra. are red ones the same as brown ones or are they different? i didn't even know you could get brown ones!! also does anyone know if the tesco cous cous is whole grain? i don't know which one to order. there is one called sammy's whole grain cous cous and tesco cous cous. is all cous cous whole grain? i don't know cos i've never cooked it before.

BouncingTurtle · 22/05/2008 07:39

SWlurker - have you sorted out your outfit for your date? No advice here as I'm a bit of a fashion disaster! Getting some advice from a friend about what to wear for ds's Christening next month. But I would keep it fairly simple for a pub date, nice pair of jeans with a flattering top and some simple accessories?
So tell us about your date! How did you meet him?

SWlurker · 22/05/2008 08:35

NA - cous cous that is wholegrain says on the packet - the "norm" for cous cous is not wholegrain. all the flavoured ones and general plain ones are non-wholegrain, I think Sammys and Tesco both do wholegrain versions, but they would say. The non-wholegrain is a little bit nicer IMO. Not sure about brown lentils - some of the tinned lentils are brown in colour? The red ones that I know about are generally sold dried, a sort of orangey colour and cook without needing to soak I like lentils and cous cous as you can see!

Thanks guys, might wear jeans then - and have to use the excuse to go out and buy a new top. What a pity I like the girly blouses that are around at the moment.

I made a chickpea and spinach curry last night - was quite impressed with it seeing as I didn't have the recipe! Only thing is I did go mad with adding cheese

toadette · 22/05/2008 09:17

Thanks lurker, I needed that boot up the behind!
Those floaty-type blouses are really lovely at the moment..do I sense a shopping trip

OK, I need to do a written pledge in the hope that this thread will keep me going in the face of my fading will-power...

  • NO bread except crispbreads
  • Write everything down in food diary
  • Alcohol only at weekends
  • Exercise everyday
  • Try to shed the 3lbs gain for next WI
  • Eat lots of SPEED foods

sticktoit · 22/05/2008 12:45

Hello everyone!

Well done on losses

Question for lurker - I love those Tesco jaked potatoes with cheese but didn't know you can use a HEa for them.....I always counted the 6 syns, do you have one or two??

On a red day today and having some chicken slices for lunch with a pack of melba toast with laughing cow cheese spread and pineapple after. Yum - starvin'!!!

nappyaddict · 22/05/2008 12:51

i got the sammy's one - couldn't see a tescos own version of whole grain.

nappyaddict · 22/05/2008 13:37

I am having red lentil dahl tonight but does anyone have the recipe for the chickpea, lentil and spinach curry?

Ingredients; 8oz red lentils
2 pts water
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon chili powder
½ teaspoon turmeric
½ teaspoon Garam masala
1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
Fylight

1 level tablespoon tomato puree (2 sins)
fresh coriander
Method; Wash lentils, add 2 pts of water and all the spices. Bring to the boil and simmer til lentils dissolve. Heat frylight in frying pan, add mustard seeds til all crack. Add to the Dahl and tomato puree. Add fresh coriander and serve with rice.

This curry sauce is fab with syn free chips:

1 Onion
2 cloves Garlic
1 tsp finely grated ginger
1tbsp hot or med curry powder
400g tin chopped tomatoes
57ml/2fl oz veg stock
2 tbspn sweetener
57g/ 2oz natural yoghurt or Quark/fromage frais
1tbspn chopped mint
1 tbspn chopped coriander
Chop onions and crush garlic. Spray frying pan with fry light and place on heat - add onion, garlic, and ginger and fry for 1-2 mins before adding curry powder.
Stir and cook for another couple of mins then add tomatoes, sweetener and stock.
Bring to boil and reduce heat to simmer gently for 12-15 mins.
Then blitz sauce in food processor or with hand blender, and return to heat. Heat gently then add quark/yoghurt/fromage frais and herbs.

Furball · 23/05/2008 07:08

1/2 lb this week, though not unexpected. Had 2 meals out - 1 was a curry so don't really kow what was in it. plus ended up scoffing loads of sweet popcorn at the cinema.

sticktoit · 23/05/2008 13:58

Afternoon all. Am stuffed after eating a jacket and beans/cheese. It was massive! Really delish although trying not to have them too often as I can get really sick of the sight of them.....

So what's everyone's plans for this bank holiday w.end? I am planning on keeping to plan 100% as I can't really afford any slip ups with the rate the weight is coming off, but we shall see.

Depending on the whether......

3andnomore · 23/05/2008 14:33

BouncingTurtle · 23/05/2008 15:09

I got some lovely Jersey Royals from Asda and made "sweet and crunchy potato salad"

Half dozen Jersey Royal potatoes, chopped and cooked
300g low fat cottage cheese
Pinch of chopped chives
1/2 eating apple
1/2 small tin sweet corn
28g mature cheddar.

Mix all the ingredients then eat. 6 syns if not using cheese as a Healthy Extra.
