Hi everyone

Nice new thread for us all x

NA - [s hock] [s hock]

I have never mixed my butter buds with water - no wonder they tasted a bit funky

nappyaddict · 16/05/2008 16:23

SWLurker - what do you use them in?

nappyaddict · 16/05/2008 21:13

Tonight I had sugar-free jelly made up with just ½ pint water. I allowed it to cool but not quite set and whisked in a pot of very low fat natural yoghurt (or you could use fromage frais). The more you whisk, the greater the volume. Serve with chopped fresh fruit for a change from normal Mullers.

Greek 0% yoghurt with a teaspoon of lemon curd stirred in - is really nice too, like lemon meringue pie (you can even crumble a meringue nest in for an extra 3½ syns, yum!).

wangle99 · 17/05/2008 07:19

Hi Ladies

I have done two days of the sw diet now and have survived so far - first day had awful stomach cramps from amount of fruit I ate but over that now.

I'm really interested to hear how long you've been following sw and how much you have lost - at the moment I'm convinced it isn't going to work. After all, how can I eat this much and lose weight!

Furball · 17/05/2008 07:27

It is amazing wangle99 when you think of it isn't it? I think it's because the word diet is associated with salads and stuff.

I've been doing it for 8 weeks and lost 1 stone 1 1/2 lb am well chuffed with that only another stone and a half to go.....

I think for me the best thing has to be do a weeks worth of meal plans, and shop accodingly - I just do the normal stuff we used to have but adapt it to the SW way, it's so easy to do. I'm lucky in the fact that I don't drink because a lot of syns can be used up on that alone. Some days I only have 4 or 5 syns cos I genuanly (sp?? but it is early) can't stuff anything more into my mouth I also run 15-20km a week which also has to be a positive.

nikkid21 · 17/05/2008 17:30

Hi wangle99 - that's exactly how I thought when I first started sw back in September. Since then I've lost 2st 3lb and reached target this week.

I would reccomend that you have a good read of this thread and the previous 2 or 3 sw ones as there are loads of great recipe and snack ideas. I think the key thing is not to get bored and to have a wide variety of meals. It won't work if you have weetabix for breakfast, jacket pot for lunch and pasta every evening.

Mu mum's sw group just did a challenge where over the course of a week they had to have 14 different healthy b's. It really makes you think about expanding your options food wise.

Tommy · 17/05/2008 23:46

have had one of "those" days culminating in DS3 throwing up all over me at bed time. I really couldn't be bothered to think of dinner so we called for a pizza and drank a bottle of wine and had some chocolates we had left over (from Christmas )

Will have to be exceptionally good between now and Tuesday weigh in day

nappyaddict · 18/05/2008 12:49

well i only maintained this week but then i did go to a kids birthday party yesterday and ate loads of crap.

loobyt · 18/05/2008 14:49

hi, I joined SW week before last and lost 3.5 lbs in my first week, only another 15.5 to go! my baby is only 14 weeks old so i am now paying for all the cakes i eat whilst pregnant! this is a great thread for those days when all you fancy is junk food!

BouncingTurtle · 19/05/2008 07:29

Morning!
Tommy - oh dear, is your ds3 ok now?
Nappyaddict - well done for not gaining then!
Loobyt - congrats and welcome IKWYM about eating too many cakes when pg!!

SWlurker · 19/05/2008 08:32

Morning all

Have had another week so far off the waggon I can't even see it in the distance any more!

Its a real self-sabotage thing I think - I'm off to a wedding on friday, haven't got an outfit yet, and I'm sure I've sabotaged my intentions to be slimmer for the wedding - god knows why!!

BUT there's nothing like a tight deadline to get me focussed, so I am going to be supergood from today until Thursday. At least I might have lost a pound in that time?! Maybe more because it would be like starting from scratch.

So... I am having an apple with a mullerlight for breakfast, weetabix for mid-morning if I'm hungry, lunch I'm not too sure - might go red and have a load of sliced cold meat, HEb potatoes & salad. Dinner will be a packet of quorn pieces in a homemade tomato sauce wirth veggie bits, maybe with pasta (its all superfree unless I add pasta, and seems to fill me up AND make the weight drop off, exactly what I need!)

Furball · 19/05/2008 11:26

swlurker - are you doing mix 2 max as you are having loads of meat with HE1 of pots then for tea you are having quorn and pasta??

SWlurker · 19/05/2008 11:50

Furball - lol sorry that was confusing! yep, that would be mix to match - I find I can't do whole days on red, I end up feeling ill (probably because I'm a carbohydrate addict!) and lethargic. But since I already feel light headed I don't think thats such a good idea anyway, so will get a jacket potato with tons of salad instead, and use my HEb on tuna

Tommy · 19/05/2008 12:56

Hi everyone - need to make a new start this week as the weekend wasn't good.... DS3 fine now, thank you. He was really poorly - just had a cough and coughed up his last feed!

Have had veg and lentil soup for lucnh with a wholemeal roll and a Mueller lite. Have also just made chickpea curry for dinner so I am definitely back on the wagon now

3andnomore · 19/05/2008 15:30

HI All,
well so far so good...have been getting on really well with the plan. Been eating more fruit and vegetables again, as well, which is great
Looking forward to the weigh-in on Wednesday.

Can I just clarify something about the mix 2 match thing...is all the superfree food still free all through the day, even if you mix and match? Or do you limit yourself to 3 mainmeals then? Does that make sense?

Oh and another thing...I am doing the 70 syns per week and then vary my syns every day, so, I can have my usual bottle of wine at the weekend, anyone else do that? And does it work alright?

Shiraz · 19/05/2008 16:08

Well it was weigh in for me this morning and i've lost 3.5lbs this week so i got my stone award yaaaaay!! So far that is 1 stone and 1lb!!

I ate really well this week and had new foods too (black halibut steaks which were gorgeous!) BUT i had nearly 4 bottles of wine! therefore this week i MUST be even better - less wine and eating to the 'plan' again.

We go to Rhodes on our 2 week jollies on the 11th June so more loss will be a huge bonus

I've not set a target yet and my consultant hasn't mentioned it either! I've 5.5lbs to lose for my club 10 - so when did you et a target and can you set an interim target before your 'main' goal??

Becs xx

3andnomore · 19/05/2008 16:18

well done Shiraz! How long did it take you to shed this stone and 1 Ib?

Shiraz · 19/05/2008 17:01

erm 9 weeks (i think) infact i think it's actually 10 - i need to check my book! lol

BouncingTurtle · 19/05/2008 17:03

Congrats Shiraz!!

I'm thinking I might "bank" 5 syns a day and save for Saturday night, then I'll have 35 syns to have for a naughty pudding - DH is complaining that we never have naughty puddings anymore...

sticktoit · 19/05/2008 17:58

Well done shiraz - wish I could report such success......I weighed in today and lost another 1lb. It's so frustrating as it's coming off so damn slow. I have given it 110% this week, no slip ups, only 60 syns in total for the week, an aerobics class, two hours of exercise DVDs and every day on the Wii-fit. I could have cried when they said .

I couldn't stay but managed to have a quick work with my consultant. She has seen all my food diaries and asked the usual Qs - am I weighing my HEbs, are my syn values correct, am I boozing etc etc but I've got it all covered.

However, I've read that the pill I am on can cause weight gain/slow weight loss so I've made an appt at the docs for tomorrow morning and I'm stopping it as from tonight. I don't want to be on it if it's going to stop me losing. I mentioned this to consultant who agreed a trip to the docs and give my body a chance to adjust. So watch this space.....!!

3andnomore · 19/05/2008 19:46

sticktoit....it's frustrating when the weight comes off so slow, BUT in a way a slow loss can sometimes be better, as in...it will be easier to maintain if weight is lost slowly. And of course a loss is a loss and if you hold 1Ib of sugar you will see it isn't that little to loose really!
Also, it's good to remember that muscle mass weighs more then fat, so, when you build muscle the scale may not show much difference, but if you measure yourself regularly, you may can see more change, iykwim.
Also, maybe you are not eating enough? Not eating enough slows your metabolism down. Or, do you eat enough protein? Again, that can effect weightloss and metabloism ( I think)....
when I did WW, some girls had problems to loose weight and the WW leader adviced them to have eggs for breakfast, as apparnelty that can really boost weightloss, and they tried it and it worked for them...!

Which pill are you on, btw?
I was on Femodene over the winter (after having the Implant taken out and not getting on with the minipill I got) and it made me gain lots of weight...it made me more hungry for all teh wrong foods, it cause me really bad moodswings-which made me eat even more chocolate then I ususally would eat, etc...all nto good...and I have come off it, and that has helped regulate my appetite and my moods...! I am enjoying a no-hormone time right now and dh is not allowed to come near me until he has had the snip done...cold and heartless maybe...but well, he was meant to have it done since ys was a Baby and ys will be 4 this summer....thinkhe has had a long period to get his head around it, imo!

sticktoit · 19/05/2008 19:53

Thank you 3aNM. I know you are right and a loss is a loss but I've still got around 3st to target and when it's that much a 1lb a week seems so insignificant.

I am on the mini pill cerazette and having read up on it quite a bit today it is a bit of a naughty one....i.e. depression, mood swings, weight gain, irregular bleeding etc etc. That alone puts me off and makes me think I should have done this research months ago!!

I've pigged out a bit tonight, I've had two bread rolls with butter and about 6 choc digestives.

I'll sort myself out - see what doc says tomorrow........

3andnomore · 19/05/2008 19:56

good luck at teh GP's! And honest I can completely understand your frustration. How long have you done the SW plan? And has it been slow go from the start?
Oh, and have you had your Thyroid checked out....Hypothyrodism can lower the metabolism, making it harder to loose weight and easier to put weight on...!

sticktoit · 19/05/2008 20:06

I've been on SW on and off for years and I know it works for me. I usually lose much more than I have this time that's why I'm getting wound up about it. I've been on it properly since the third week on March and it's been slow from the beginning. I was on the Paul McKenna thing before this time though so knew my first week wouldn't be as big a loss as usual. I am living up to my name and sticking to it!!!

I had my thyroid checked when I had DD 3 years ago and I've had blood tests done since for headaches. All came back normal.

Of course I'll explain all this to doc too. Perhaps I should stay off all hormone related stuff for now until I get my bod back into some sort of normality??? Perhaps I should suggest some further testing though

sticktoit · 19/05/2008 20:07

.....oh and I def eat enough!! I make sure of it! All within SW guidelines of course!
