I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

jaz236 · 25/06/2008 15:49

all of a sudden im obsessed with diet pills, dont ask me why and i know its just a quick fix, but im seeing this lipobland or something has anyone heard of it? i cant take it anyway as Im breastfeeding - oh the joys of motherhood yipeeeeeeeeeeeee!

anyway hubbie is making steak for himself and im having a big salad with couscous and prawns!!

PinkChick · 25/06/2008 20:20

jaz can you not eat the steak??..cant remember if your on ww or sw??..you should have something more than salad, your body needs it esp if you are BF..there...lecture over

well today has been mega stressful kitchen wise and as im working too(childminder-so at home)its been double stressful as im trying to keep the children away from dust, which is nigh no impossible!..its flying everywere!..

anyway, breakfast was cereal and ss milk

lunch was meant to be a low fat pasta in bolognaise sauce, but baby mindee(1yr) decided she didnt want her sandwhich and would much rather eat mine...so that was that, two mouthfuls then off it went into mindees tummy!

so by dinner time when dp suggested pizza hut i had the order in and car keys in hand quicker than he could finish his sentence!...we didnt get stuffed crust again...and despite me thinking i was 'staaaaaaaaarving', again i managed to eat 2 slices and that was it, not chicken or wedges..totally stuffed to hurting point again!..so although kind of guilty(but like you say what else can i do having no kitchen and no were really to prepare a half decent meal from micro), im happy that i can now only manage 'normal' portions instead of my old gluttonous half pizza, wedges, chicken, garlic bread and spin rolls...got on scales after dinner and i was 15 9 still, so am hoping ive actually gone down a bit, will check n morn when food is not laying ehavy on me!

anyway, hope everyone else has had nice day?
just think if we ever get a bit of summer how much better we'll feel in our skimpier clothes, less hot and sweaty in our coveralls!

jaz236 · 25/06/2008 20:24

bloody hell you are good pinkchick, id have gone for the whole shaabang on the pizza hut front!

im only partialy breastfeeding now, only at night time - in the end i did have some steak and it was yummy! im just having a vodka and tonic now to just chill!! Im not allowing myself wine as i will drink the whole bottle

RGPargy · 25/06/2008 20:26

Hi everyone

Met up with a friend today and we went for a lovely stroll around our local country park and took a picnic with us. We have wholemeal pitta with ham and cheese in them, and we sat on the rug munching them and dipping them into humous. After that we had a box of melon and grapes each and then (here's the naughty bit) we had THREE Asda Good for You (or whatever it's called) toffee cakes. Think i've only just gone over by a point or so, so i'm not worried. Plus i'd saved four points from monday so i'm in the clear. Tonight's dinner was 3 slices of turkey rashers and 2 eggs. Yummy!

RGPargy · 25/06/2008 20:28

Well done on your impressive will power Pink!!

jenniebee · 25/06/2008 21:21

justRia · 25/06/2008 22:32

hi jenniebee, welcome.

I am off the wagon just now, but am sticking around because the support on this thread is phenomenal I aim to have my willpower back after the weekend (dsis arrives home tomorrow with her family, they live abroad and I haven't seen them in 8 years, have never met my niece, there will be much celebrating over the weekend. on the plus side we will be eating with DM and she is like the diet police, but has BAKED)

well done on the willpower everyone. I am going to have a glass of wine or two in a minute.

RGPargy · 25/06/2008 23:08

Hi Jenniebee and welcome!!

Ria - enjoy the wine and enjoy the weekend - sounds like it'll be immense fun!!

Aero · 26/06/2008 11:52

Hi everyone. I am thrilled and stunned as I lost 2.5lbs this week! It was my friends birthday at the weekend so on Monday, we went out to a Chinese buffet lunch. I didn't hold back, but I think because of that, I was fairly careful the rest of the week, with the exception of chocolate fondue for pudding a few times! That brings my weightloss to 17.5lbs! I wouldn't say energy levels are soaring, but they're definitely on the up, which is good as I've a house to hover today! (We have a joiner in and there's sawdust everywhere).

Aero · 26/06/2008 11:54

Ria and JB - meant to say hello and welcome! . This is a great thread for anyone trying to shift some unwanted weight!

RGPargy · 26/06/2008 15:26

Well done Aero! That's brilliant!

jaz236 · 26/06/2008 16:12

justRia · 27/06/2008 10:43

I have, I just keep changing my identity in an atempt to change my willpower!

jaz236 · 27/06/2008 12:17

PinkChick · 27/06/2008 13:40

Woman dies after buying banned slimming pills on the internet

Selena Walrond died after poisoning herself with unlicensed slimming pills she had bought online
A young woman desperate to lose weight died in agony a day after taking a lethal dose of a banned fat-burning drug she bought over the internet.

Selena Walrond, who weighed 15st and was 5ft 3in tall, was so obsessed with being slim that she took five times the recommended daily dose.

Known as DNP or dinitrophenol, the drug has never been licensed in the UK and was banned in the U.S. in 1938 due to its potentially lethal side-effects.

Miss Walrond, 26, had struggled with her weight for years and became so ashamed of her shape that she was afraid to leave her home in Croydon, South London.

In desperation, she searched the internet for weight-loss drugs, stumbling upon DNP, which is used by bodybuilders and athletes to lose weight quickly by increasing their metabolic rate to burn calories.

But the yellow pills sent her heart-rate racing and her temperature soaring.

The next day, Miss Walrond was found by her mother Anjennis feverish and sweating in a cold bath, desperately trying to cool down.

She took her daughter to hospital as Miss Walrond became highly agitated. Medics tried to calm her down but eight hours later she had a fatal cardiac arrest.

Yesterday her mother said: 'I'll never forget her yellow fingernails and skin - the drug was sweating out of her.

'Selena's life has been cruelly snatched away, all because she was desperate to lose weight. DNP is lethal. If you want to lose weight, do it the sensible way.'

Miss Walrond's sister Asha, 30, added: 'Her weight used to embarrass her and she was not confident enough to leave the house sometimes.'

Miss Walrond is thought to have bought the DNP from a Chinese website five days before her death last August.

Coroner Roy Palmer, recording a verdict of accidental death at the hearing in Croydon, said: 'I do not for a moment think Selena intended to die. She intended to lose weight.'

The Food Standards Agency has warned against the drug, which is illegal to sell in the UK.

That is such a sad story jaz, and a good reminder that these things should be mediacally admistered and monitored if they are to be used.

It is terrible that anyone has to go to those lengths, although it is easy to understand why.

jaz236 · 28/06/2008 16:46

Your right, the only reason I put that on here is that last week i sort of got hooked and obsessed with diet pills for a quick fix, i was reading up on everything, it was getting really bad - its not worth it and in the long run its our familys we hurt most!!

jaz236 · 28/06/2008 20:12

Although if u read it she took 5 times the daily dose, which im afraid you dont do! plus it was banned in the states! I reckon as long as its okd by the doc its fine as you are being monitored!! i was chatting to this girl at health food shop the other day abt lipobland, and she said she had lost 3 stone in 6 mnths, but she said that it poss was all in her haid as she was excersing alot more than she ever did and ate far more veg and water - so go figure!

anyway ladies i hope you are all enjoying your weekends xxxx

KelaH · 28/06/2008 20:17

bloody ell 38lbs in 11 weeks> what are u on?? are u excercising> what have u cut out>

KelaH · 28/06/2008 22:21

I'm not exercising, doing weight watchers, but haven't been counting points lately, haven't cut out any particular food group. I mostly try to eat low fat foods and am using my weight watchers cook books a lot, but I am having the occasional chocolate bar or ice cream. Starting to wonder if I might be ill?
