Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

sandramaryb · 08/04/2008 20:06

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

RG - coul you help me with the points issoe? I need to know how many I should be on...

undervalued · 13/06/2008 21:05

Typos galore today....sorry

RGPargy · 13/06/2008 22:57

Sure thing, no worries.

Here are the points guidelines for you to work out your points:

Female - 3 points

Breastfeeding? No = 0 points, exclusively = 10 points, breastfeeding and weaning = 5 points

Age - 16-20 = 5, 21-35 = 4, 36-50 = 3, 51-65 = 2, over 65 = 1

Weight - You are allowed one point for every stone of weight (dont include the pounds). So, if you weigh 20 stone, you are allowed 20 points.

Height - Under 5'4" = 1, over 5'4" = 2.

Day to day life - Sitting down most of the time = 0, ocassionally sitting down but mostly standing = 2, walking most of the time = 4, Doing physically hard work most of the time = 6.

So, working out from the above (and saying you are 20 stone), i would say you are allowed 28 points. I have gone on the assumption that you are aged 21-35, are not breastfeeding and are sitting down most of the time and also are over 5'4" tall. Obviously adjust the points if i have got any of the info wrong.

Hope that helps!

X

Brilliant - thanks very much RG. I was allowing myself too many x

HIya everyone, well just after i switched off last night and got my pj's on i got weighed (only once on morn, once on night) and im over the moon to say that id gone down to 16st 0lb..i cant remember exactly what i was on my scales but was 16dt 9lb on nurses(think i was 16st 10 or 11lb??
However nurse weighed me fully clothed and i was in nud when i got weighed last night..but was

this morn, ive worked out wether in my mind or not if i have my tablet right before i eat brekkie it works straight away..i put my self weetabix and ss milk out and could only get through a max of 1/3 of it!..as a special treat for dd, she wanted to go out for junk food lunch today and chose pizza hut...so instead of our usual joeys special (two pizza's and large ones at that WITH stuffed crusts!) we ordered a medium veg and chicken with combo platter, dd got side salad with hers(which she wont eat) so i ate the side salad, two small slices of the pizza (dp nearly fell over we normally fight for the largest and most slices!) and a couple of wedges and i was absolutely stuffed...dp wolfed the pizza down, garlic bread, chicken wings, wedges and spin rolls..and it was SOOOO weird because i felt like i had a goody and baddy sat on my shoulder..one was saying "go on, have that slice, have some more wedges, eat the rest of dd's pizza" and the other side was saying "are you kidding if i eat one more thing im gunna pop"...and the good side won...even dd's whippy icecream with marshmallows, smarties, choc/strawberry and caramel sacue didnt temp me..so although i dont kid myself my lunch was healthy, i felt good stopping when i felt full and not gorging myself as i always used to do!

im just feeling slightly peckish now and lunch was 12 o clock, but dont fancy anything big so i think ill go for weetabix again..ooh and my nighlty hi lights choc..mmmmm

hope everyone had good/nice day too??

RGPargy · 14/06/2008 20:30

undervalued - no worries at all!

Pink - wow, that's very restrained of you, especially the ice cream factory bit!! Dont think i could have stopped myself at that bit, that's the whole point of going for Pizza Hut isn't it?!! Well done you!

Keep up the good work!

PinkChick · 14/06/2008 20:32

thanks Rg, how've you been this weekend?..i think seeing that flat stone mark on scales last night spurred me on..however maybe it wont be so good tonight..oh and i havent been weighed once today!!!..im thinking maybe i do it more through week as im in and out with the children and up to loo with them all day????

PinkChick · 14/06/2008 20:33

oh and youll LOL at me...saw my friend in pizza hut and she said ooh i like your top and i went "thanks, ive lost 11lb"!!! LOL..she just looked and went oh??....thats good well done and looked quite confused i expect she was waiting for me to tell her were it was from

RGPargy · 14/06/2008 20:44

Pink - yeah seeing the xxst 00lbs mark deffo spurs me on too. It's almost getting to the stone below that makes you feel soooo good, doesn't it?!! I've lost 10.5lbs and am now on the next stone down and so now my inspiration is to NEVER be in the next stone up bracket again! Well done on resisting the scales so far today! You're getting better and better all the time.

LOL @ you bumping into your friend!!!

i've not been too bad this weekend, although i went over my points by quite a few last night as we had 2 bottles of wine between us plus a portion of my home made curry, but i sort of allow for the points for it so i'm hoping too much damage hasn't been done this weekend. I dont hold out much hope of losing another 4.5lbs this week tho lol.

PinkChick · 14/06/2008 20:51

if it was home made im sure it will ahve been better than a takeaway!? and i bet you had a good night too? so dont worry about it, we have still got to live, thats what i was thinking this afty, one treat like that once a week when im good for the 6 other days is good going..you're doing really well, keep it up!
So are you actually going to ww then or just following it yourself?, when do you get weighed?

Aero · 14/06/2008 21:17

Can I join in too? I don't quite have five stone to lose, but have lost a stone and have about three to go. I wonder RG if your ww leader is the same girl I go to. I go over to Lords Wood as that's where my friend goes who's also doing ww, but it's not my nearest.

I was doing fine, but todays been a disaster from start to finish! And as it started badly, then I got to thinking 'in for a penny.....' etc. Bad day for junk and a big McDs at lunchtime didn't help!

So trying to write it off as a one off and will hop back on the wagon tomorrow (hopefully).

I get 22 points a day. Fine if everything I consume is low fat, but the first thing which isn't just piles up half my days allowance.

I'm finding that more meat free main meals helps and frees up some points for some tasty treats.

RGPargy · 14/06/2008 22:25

Pink - yeah my curries are deffo better than a takeaway and every ingredient is accounted for. So for instance, for homemade chicken tikka massala with rice, 2 popadums and a mini naan comes to 9 points. Not bad I think!! Yes, i am actually going to WW and my weigh day is a monday. I think it's a great day to get weighed on as it stops you being tooooo bad over the weekend lol.

Aero - hello and welcome!

When do you go to WW? I go on a monday and our leader is Emma. Lordswood isn't my nearest either. It'll be funny if you go on a Monday morning too - i've probably seen you there lol.

Deffo with you on the meat free stuff. Very low pointage!

Shame that you fell off the wagon today, but oh well, what's done is done. Just start tomorrow with a clean slate and write today off.

TotalChaos · 14/06/2008 22:28

well done on getting down to 16 0, Pink Chick.

ended up eating DS's takeaway chips as he didn't want them . Other than that has been a good week.

Aero · 15/06/2008 16:20

Yes, I see Emma too, but on a Thursday. Nearest is on Weds at the St G Hotel and Emma runs it too, so occasionally I pop there if I can't get to LW on a Thursday.

Yes, back on the wagon today, although it being Father's Day, we went out for lunch to local noodle house. Just had noodles and chicken, so not too bad and will have a light tea later. We've also been out for a walk so earning a few more points there.

I like weighing in earlier in the week though as I feel it gives me a bit of time to make up for any overspent weekend points. I find it much easier to track points Mon - Fri than I do at weekekends. Not the best habit probably, but if the weight is shifting, it's not such a big deal I guess. My goal for this week is to lose 1lb.

Aero · 15/06/2008 16:21

oops - meant 'later' in the week, not earlier.

RGPargy · 15/06/2008 17:31

TC - left overs are a nightmare!

Aero - ahh right! A Thursday girl!

Think i much prefer weighing in on a Monday as it keeps me on track over the weekend. If i didn't do it, i'd be reeaaaaally bad! lol

PinkChick · 15/06/2008 17:58

Hi Everyone and thanks TC

been to swimming baths this morn(but that usually means me cahsing after dd, so not much swimming), then went to seaside and otaaly abstained from fish n chips and icecreams!

For brekkie i had a banana and cereal with ss milk

lunch (out as ts father day) i got a pannini with chicken and bacon and salad with few chips, couldnt eat half the panini (i feel like such a kids belly as my eyes have alsways been soooo much bigger than my belly, i keep thinking oh what a waste!),,dp was laughing saying we'll have to start asking for the 'light bites' or the kids meals for me..i know it wasnt healthy having the chips but i havent had them all week and the way ive been in the last fortnight is the total opposite of how much i would usually eat..AND as i plan to stick to this way for the long term im not beating myself up about it, i enjoyed the chips as i hadnt had them in so long but couldnt even eat all of them

am still full so will prob have some cereal for tea/supper again just to make sure i dont wake up hungry!

went to redcar and dd won tickets that she exchanged for sweeties, then we passed fish n chippy and icecream store were they sell the most wonderful whippy icecream cones with all sorts of gorgeous sprinkles on..and i didnt flinch..i was still stuffed from early lunch!

got carpet fitter coming first thing (hopefully) so have re arranged nurse for 12pm, so if i get five mins after ive got back(have to put play room back together before dd and mindees all come home) ill pop on otherwise ill bebback tomorrow night....

bye everyone.x

jaz236 · 15/06/2008 20:21

that should have said last week i was 16st 3, at nurse 2 weeks ago i was 16st 11

RGPargy · 16/06/2008 15:20

Wow, well done Pink!! You're doing brilliantly!!

PinkChick · 16/06/2008 16:20

thanks..feel fab..everyone seems to have forgot im slimming so i didnt bother telling anyone apart from one friend and dp today..would be nice to think they noticed instead of having it brought to their attention

RGPargy · 16/06/2008 20:11

yeah but if they're anything like me, they might notice but just not say anything! I'm terrible for that!! Someone could have a haircut and in my head i'll be saying "oh that looks nice" but i just dont bother telling them lol.

Either that or they are all blind! The thing with me too, is that as i have about 7 stone to lose, any weight loss wont really notice til after about 3 stone. It's always the way when you have a lot to lose.
