Anyone else out there with 5 plus stones to lose? Who fancies doing a weekly weigh in with me?

I have got really overweight in the last couple of years and would love to meet some others who might be trying to cut down but not exactly dieting. Where do you start when there is so much to lose? Any tips on evening snacking? TIA

I bought a WW cookbook at a car boot sale.

I cooked DH a full english and didn't fancy any myself, just had cornflakes and fruit juice, also DIDN'T hit the bacon butty van

We were naughty last night and had takeaway pizza/kebab to celebrate the end of DS1s SATs, but we had it at teatime and shared with the boys instead of having it all to ourselves at 11pm

Not done much exercise-wise, and other stuff got in the way of tennis, though I feel like I've walked miles today and I weeded the front garden.

Glad the moonwalk went well. I sometimes find I don't get hungry if I'm running on adrenaline (doesn't happen very often), but on DHs 40th we did a 10 mile walk (should have been 7 but we got lost) and all I wanted was a cup of tea, we didn't eat until the next day.

I know what you mean about wanting to kick start with a big loss, it's this dratted summer weather when you can't trog about in a coat to cover the nasty bits. We just have to stick with it I suppose.

My DH goes back to work tomorrow, so tha SHOULD make it easier for me.

Sorry, long post

RiaButterflew · 18/05/2008 21:19

I get the same not wanting to eat effect when I'm spring cleaning... I have to start that yet this year.

RGPargy · 18/05/2008 22:06

jaz - if you're still BF then i would doubly emphasize you NOT doing it! Just stick with it.

What are the calories and saturated fat of the Pringles rice things for the packet? I will work out points for you.

RGPargy · 18/05/2008 22:08

Ria - well done on abstaining from the fry up!! I deffo think i couldn't have done that!

right, off to bed now. Had a dreadful night's sleep last night due to staying at PILs on a rock hard bed with a pillow so flat it felt like my head was down lower than my feet!! Night all x

RiaButterflew · 18/05/2008 22:25

night RG - new week new enthusiasm for me tomorrow.

Good luck everyone.

jaz236 · 19/05/2008 08:22

whats BF??

wel tnite im having salmon with laods of veg, so theres my protein - and im off for a long walk with bambino.

have a good day ladies xxx

Ags · 19/05/2008 11:39

Breastfeeding Jaz!

Ladies it sounds as if everyone is doing really well.

Choc, good luck with the low carb thing. I did GI last year and lost some weight but didn't manage to keep it off. It is like with anything, you can't fall back into your old ways or the weight will come back again.

Ria, well done on staying away from the bacon buttie van! Any good recipes in the ww book?

KelaH · 19/05/2008 12:43

Ria - which WW book did you get?

I didn't have a very good weekend - after my blow out Fri night I went to Pizza Hut for lunch on Sat and had garlic bread with cheese, a small pizza and banoffee pie!!! The whole lot worked out as 34.5 points!!!

Anyway, was a bit better yesterday, and am not feeling well today so have only had a sandwich. Really need to get a handle on this comfort eating though

RGPargy · 19/05/2008 13:15

Afternoon everyone!

Jaz - your dinner sounds lovely! Shame i dont like fish tho lol.

KelaH - Wow, your pizza hut sounds well worth going over your points for!

Comfort eating is a bugger isn't it. i'm terrible for it too. Why dont you get in a load of breadsticks to nibble on when you're in the nibbly mood. They are only 1/2 point each. Snack-a-jack jumbos are only 1 point each too so i buy the caramel ones and if i want a munchathon (Saturday during Eastenders catch up, for example ) i can munch a few of those with no real harm done, even if i go over my points.

Well i had my weigh in today and i have (thankfully) stayed the same. Phew!! I was convinced i would be putting on, especially after having two curries in two nights!

Hope you're all having a lovely day.

chocolatespiders · 19/05/2008 14:05

hi all....

had a good nights sleep last night.... and today off work to get my hair done... i also have been for an appt with Hypnosis lady... she does it for weight loss and it is something i have always wanted but neve been brave enough to have done.... so i have a session booked for next week- and she said to me there is no way you look like a size 20.... well i flipping am, got the m&s label in my jeans to prove it!!!!

today i still dont really feel like eating which is wired for me but i realise i have to
so didnt have breakfast... but i ahve made a wrap for lunch which was lush, with ham, cucumber, spring onion, lettuce, and asda yoghurt and mint dressing....

and to be honest i dont think i can afford to eat anymore, tuna is over £1.00 a tin, and the yoghurts i used to buy were 19p in tesco are now............. 28p how can they have jumped up that much?

hope everyone is having a good day... and eating lovely healthy food

chocolatespiders · 19/05/2008 14:06

rgpargy -great you stayed the same , here's to a good week

RGPargy · 19/05/2008 14:49

Choc - good luck with the hypnosis lady!! Let us know how you get on.

Better go, DD stirring and will need feeding!

Ags · 19/05/2008 15:10

RG well done on staying the same! Those curries didn't do too much damage then.

Choc, good luck with the hynosis. Apart from anything else, it is a very enjoyable process. Very relaxing so prepare to feel lovely when it is finished. I used to work in a college where Hypnotherapy was taught so I know a bit about it.

chocolatespiders · 19/05/2008 18:07

i shall let you know how i get on.... i still have only had the wrap today. and dont fancy anything else.... something not right......

It is a bit like in the past once i start eating thats it i carry on and binge.... and i desperately dont want to do that ... i need to break the cycle somehow...

might have a bowl of cereal later, or another wrap because it was rather lush...

whats everyone having for dinner?

jaz236 · 19/05/2008 18:45

mmmmmmmmmmm, im not one for pizzas but i would love to have had one aswell. I bet it was gorgeous.

How many points are the little crunchie bars??

RiaButterflew · 19/05/2008 20:19

I am having a bit of a crap day. Generally, not particularly food-wise.

On the plus side I am wearing a pair of size 20 M&S trousers that my sis gave me. She usually shrinks things, but could she have washed these bigger as I can't get into my brand new size 24 la redoute combats, or practically anything else I own (in 22/24s).

RGPargy · 19/05/2008 20:23

Ria - dont worry, i expect everything has shrunk in the wash.

Dinner tonight was mexican fajitas. Cant remember the points, but will work it out a bit later when DD is in bed.

Jaz - a normal crunchie is 3 points i think.

jaz236 · 19/05/2008 20:44

mexican fajitas are absoltely gorgeous, we had salmon which was gorgeous. And then i ate 2 small size crunchies - oh heaven

RiaButterflew · 19/05/2008 21:55

I don't like fish either.
I think the book is Time to Eat or something. When I've read through and tried a few things I'll post some recipes.

ChipButty · 19/05/2008 22:00

Lost 3.2lb! That's 8lb in 3 weeks! Dead proud of myself. BTW we had stir fry and noodles for tea - YUM! Good luck, everyone.

RGPargy · 19/05/2008 22:20

Ria - thanx, i'll look forward to that!

Chip - blimey, well done!! You are right to feel proud of yourself, that's brilliant.

KelaH · 20/05/2008 03:20

Ah, I have time to eat, was hoping it was the pasta one which I have but can't find - DH keeps asking me to make one of the recipes in it

Well done Chip - that's briiliant.

I had a very good day yesterday, mainly coz I didn't feel like eating - was 13 points under Should make up for my pizza on Sat!

chocolatespiders · 20/05/2008 18:44

hi all.....

today has been another good day

breakfast - smootie

Lunch- ham+salad wrap, and grapes (sat in pizza hut with my friends, not quite sure how i resisted)

Dinner- bowl of cereal......

prob have an apple later when girls are in bed

jaz236 · 20/05/2008 19:22

well i went to fatfighters tnite and ive lost one and a half pounds! which i think is rubbish - but hubbie says well at least its coming off and not going on!!

dont get it as ive not been eating that much as uve had tummy bug and only managed to loose a bit!!

RGPargy · 20/05/2008 22:22

Choc - blimey, you've been good today!! make sure you're eating enough tho!!

Jaz - Maybe you've not lost as much as you wanted because you've not been eating enough??

I know we all want to lose weight etc but if you dont eat enough during the day it can also cause your body to hang onto it's fat stores.
