Team RH - has anyone actually been visited by a debt collector

RowansMammy · 28/05/2024 18:21

Has anyone used Team RH and had a bad experience or had debt collectors at the door? I used the app for 1 day. Total scam and mis sold. Only after waiving your right to the 14 day cooling off period, creating a direct debit, does it tell you to download my fitness pal which is free and clunky. It did all the work.

I used team RH for 1 day and tried to cancel to be told no. There is no way I'm paying for a 12 month contract for a service I used for one day. I don't follow the plan, I don't take any notice of the goals I've been set. I'd rather be fat to be honest.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has actually had debt collectors come to the door or is it just the bully emails and calls? has anyone experienced anything?

All I remember is having to set a step goal, macros and yes I did have to join MFP (which I hate). I genuinely don’t remember anything scammy about it.

Because his terms and conditions are frankly bollocks. That's the scammy part.

It might not have been a 12 month contract when you joined or made you waive your cooling off period

I don’t know why I care that you think I’m lying but here you go …

who said they think you’re lying? No need to prove yourself. I thought you were getting mixed up with someone else tbh.
did you cancel after the 12 months?

I cancelled at a year like others too concerned about what would happen if I cancelled. But Richie is awful the app is dreadful and I can't bare to watch any of his videos 🤢.

This is how I feel - I just don’t like the way he goes on 😟

Looolaaa · 03/07/2024 11:29

I just wasn’t sure if I was missing something but yes I agree it’s scammy to try and make people believe they have to pay the full year when they don’t!

Just checked and they actually told me just to cancel the DD with the bank so hopefully that also helps put anyone’s mind at ease too that I obviously did that and had no repercussions.

Shelsi81 · 07/07/2024 06:43

I’ve now had a second email threatening legal action:

Team RH - has anyone actually been visited by a debt collector

Shelsi81 · 07/07/2024 06:43

I’ve now had a second email threatening legal action:

Hold your nerve. I cancelled my DD awhile ago now and I’ve had nothing.

are they really going to take you to court for, what £80. It’s not a credit agreement. Any court would question making customers waive their consumer rights. It’s false advertising at its finest. It’s not until after you sign up they mention my fitness pal. It’s nowhere on the website, it’s buried in the terms and conditions.

I'm still waiting on someone saying they were taken to court and their credit rating is shot because of them.

i’ve cancelled gym memberships in the past, obviously cause I'm fat and lazy, and they’ve not pursued me for money. I’ve just explained my circumstances and they’ve understood. I’ve not had to prove myself.

ignore them. I know it’s not nice but think logically. If you owed thousands it would be worth pursuing through court. It’s £80. They make money by bullying people.

i stand firm. I refuse to pay for a service I used for less than 24 hours. Not a chance. He can kiss my hoop.

@Shelsi81 PLEASE just send a message back saying 'lol'

Honestly, the man is such a colossal tool. Just a repulsive individual who is pretty much derided by everyone in the fitness industry

Hi just jumping on this

  • they've now had to stop using MFP because it's been blocked on their app from being linked... And are now telling people to download a second app of their own to track food.
Is this grounds for cancelling considering it's not using it's original function if that makes sense?

I'm no legal eagle but it could be grounds. Email them and see what they say. They'll probably say no you can't, but cancel anyway.

Holy shit reading this thread

  1. MFP blockes them because what started as a API connected App bringing loads of customers has become TeamRH building their own competetive app tracker to the atrocious (1 slice / 1 handful) kind of tracking.
  1. Read the terms of conditions when you signup anywhere stop whining on forums how the world is a scam (this isnt)
  1. I use to use TeamRH, the app itself is to keep you motivated with your step count, and getting in your calories set by an algorithm of the app (trust me it works and is sustainable approach).. What it does is set you a step count. 10.000 is a good one, what it simply does is allow you room to enjoy food without massive restrictions and super low low.

First Ill agree his language is sometimes not peoples cup of tea but he keeps it straight with you, I am no longer a member as I keep track myself in a customized Excel sheet I set up.

His app is juat your convenience, submit your weight, steps etc of the day and gives u 7 day average so you know you are on the right track.

The only reason you go into a contract is so he can let mums and dads with not much between per month can partake, instead of a 1 year fee upfront which he offers as well.

Just ridiculous reading this thread, there is absolutely bo shady practice about Richie, and the only reason some in the Fitness and or private trainers dont like him is because he and his team are attempting to help loads of people what over 100k members now and fully active Members fb page with morning classes with Rache from home at the fraction of a trainers cost where the goal is to restrict ur intake so much ull lose weight that first month and he can be proud of his achievement whilst u eill end up binging.

I started with TeamRH around 96.4kg in 2021 and was by 2022 81 or so, then I decided to end it but have followed them since then and BITE ME isnjust his way to try to compete and MFP is having none of it... although they were fine with it while TeamRH brought in members but not losing them.

You dont think MFP notices if User numbers all of the sudden start dropping thousands.. while BITE ME is being advertised on his page.. I am a CTO for a tech company.. i would have hammered TeamRH quickly to grind em to a halt...

With that said believe whatever u want on thia mumsnet, I have no allegience with TeamRH today but IT WORKS...

Its not a magic pill.. the app is simple and simply a convenience to keep your stats in one place giving you stars, keeping you accountable.

Ps: if you are well versed in Excel or a programming language you can create a simple stats sheet yourself, they just makr it easy for those who arent.

SteiniPe · 11/07/2024 09:46

Also one thing, he doesnt diss his own members but he will call you on it if you try to say I did everything and nothing works, you can ask support for even assistance but have your tracking correct because they can see.

Most of the time people say this but they dont track saturday or sunday when they binged with friends when other 5 days were all accounted for and he does attsck Slimming world because it is shit for real.

Ita not sustainable method that foeces u to join some weigh in with people like biggest loser.. its not healthy, also u might not need to lose as much as the next one. Also they create some point system that is horrible..

Anyonr shud "slag" Slimming world and weight watchers..

The only truly good way and healthy way to loae weight is give urself 6months to a year, eat at a deficit, enjoy the food u eat in moderation this way u enjoy life while changing without falling off the wagon at the end.. How many seasons of Biggest loaer do people need to see the aftermath when Joe os Susan end up gaining it all back a year later...

Anyway not saying people here are wrong but they dont got these facts straight about the company.. and of course it trudts you to pay some measly pounds a momth for the duration because its the company's income.. they trust that you will pay.. small increments a month that count to some double digit pounds by end of term. Its done for the benefit of those who cant afford paying all up front.. taking that option away wud take away the ability for many in the UK to be a part of what is working for them.

SteiniPe · 11/07/2024 09:55

Looolaaa · 03/07/2024 07:09

I don’t know why I care that you think I’m lying but here you go …

Dont worry its just people that didnt read the page properly and just had a change of heart and want to back out, he explains this even in a video on the page if u click the question mark. Not to get too technical but I guess they may not do the cheap monthly price anymore or maybe it displays only on UK ip addresses but the fact is copycats wud dl the app try to reverse engineer it to steal the data, join briefly to get the lay of the land for 7 pounds and so forth its ALL there and I remember him explaining this all way back, im not from UK so i had to pay 1 year up front and did.. used it for the entire duration.. I guess Tattle user here is going to hate that someone defended a legitimate business.

I got nothing to gain from this, just want to set it straight, also attached is my second year the fidst was 2019 but since then created my own sheet

Small YT that explains all of this and why.. it is actually very fair way to give that access to the coaches, private group, morning classes, program, step counter and measurement..

So do not get why u guys are ripping him? Because he uses bad language? Man u must hate Gordon Ramsey

LolaJ87 · 11/07/2024 10:33

I've been a member in the past but I don't think he was as bad back then.

RH popped up on my TikTok a few weeks ago slagging off a girl who was trying to eat a bit healthier and shouting about how many calories were in the olive oil she was using. She wasn't a member, she hadn't asked for his advice or his help and it was wrong. He seems to have a completely over-inflated ego. I enjoyed him making fun of slimming world back in the day but he's just an out and out bully who makes fun of anything which doesn't tie in with his approach.

Suenami · 11/07/2024 10:37

Is this the guy that super controlling and aggressive about making women do exactly ehat he says? My friend signed up for this and it sounded borderline abusive and she's still really overweight

bit of a contradiction there, it works he’s great….but you can make a spreadsheet and save yourself from being mugged off 😂

Open your eyes. If you are so into this guy you should know his history, how he treats customers and staff and how childish he is. How he doesn’t just slag off other weight loss programmes, but staff and customers themselves. He lies constantly, poses as other people, makes fake reviews and spends his day stalking weight loss groups, and women are always the arse of his jokes. Don’t be that person that tries to convince women that his behaviour is acceptable

dear me, I’ve not got the strength to read the ramblings.

still waiting for someone to say they’ve cancelled and been taken to court, credit rating taken a hit, legal letters (that cost more than the contract).
