Anyone have 2-3 stone to lose but DOES NOT use injectables

Anyone want a support thread to drop 2-3 stone but finding the ozempic/wegovy etc threads overwhelming on here. They aren't useful to me and there are so many threads on here about the damn stuff.

A previous thread I saw basically said diet and exercise without the injectables would fail for most. I don't want to touch the stuff for a variety of reasons but mainly the hideous side effects and pile on weight when you stop. Not to mention cost.

I'm looking to do it the "old fashioned" way... 1200-1500 calories on my fitness pal and exercise increasing. No particular time limit.

SW: 12 stone 2
I'm really short too so ideally I need to be 10 stone something max

I'm 40 and deffo in perimenopause

@Bookmark1111

Thank you, I’ll definitely take a look

Tinytigertail · 09/06/2024 19:04

This is me! I'm currently 12. 2 and would like to be 10.7. I thought about injections, but I'd be exaggerating my BMI to get them. Also, I want this to be a permanent change. I'm planning on reducing carbs, upping veggies and fasting from 7.30pm-11.30am

EmeraldRoulette · 09/06/2024 19:06

@Bookmark1111 no apps and no logging for me, hate all that in essential real life stuff.

Definitely want to find ways to stop the tedious cooking though.

@Mumsnet can the injectables have their own thread please? 🙏

I've just seen on the Site Stuff page that they are now setting one up, thank god!

Fair enough on the apps/logging! What are you finding tedious about the cooking?

TrtseHkpr · 09/06/2024 19:23

I'm using Noom and have lost 2 stones since the start of the year and would like to lose another 3. I've found it really helpful, calorie counting plus psychology seems to work for me (many previous attempts at SW etc). Good luck with your weight loss!

Planning it

Shopping for it - hate supermarkets so tend to get delivery but needs must for fresh stuff

Prepping

Cooking

Tidying

Washing up.

And in a small space.

Could you stretch to a meal delivery subscription like HelloFresh, where it's already prepped? There's a "calorie smart" plan option.

Lokshen · 09/06/2024 20:31

15kg down, kept it off for 2 years, started age 42. Used intermittent fasting, and really looking into my relationship with food (especially my belief from childhood that something bad would happen if I went out without eating breakfast!). No more exercise for weight loss, but have a lot more energy now

I think there's probably easier ways to address it buying ready prepped stuff.

I will sort that out this week.

Menora · 10/06/2024 11:34

I work a lot of hours so I buy things like big bags of frozen salmon, fruit and veg which are often already chopped and I can throw into a salad or air fryer

Corianm · 10/06/2024 12:03

Me! I’m not against the drug but the thought of vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea and abdomen pain is too off putting.

I’ve lost two stone previously (kept off for years) so know if is within me.

Enjoying salads now it is Summer-ish. 18:6 works for me.

ILOVEPINK123 · 10/06/2024 12:15

I'm 39 and sure I'm at start of peri menopause. I need to lose 2 stone to get into the higher end of a fine bmi. I'm trying to do calorie counting and need to watch my carb intake due to trying to diet control type 2 diabetes. I have a tendency to comfort eat sugar though and I need to try low fodmap diet for next few weeks. I'm sure I'm reacting to chocolate ( which I love ) and apples ( again a love of mine) and who knows what else. It's hard. And I already have a lot on my plate ( no pun intended lol ) I'm about to make a thread actually because I need the motivation and advice on what to eat think I have decision fatigue around food now.

ILOVEPINK123 · 10/06/2024 12:21

Also going back to at least 12 hour overnight fasting thing( think it helps my higher than I'd like morning blood sugars)

This my theory. Haven't done well today though, tomorrow will better!

Good luck! If you get time try to go to an Aldi or even an Iceland. Iceland or food warehouse even do slimming world frozen meals that are all calorie counted, and protein meals all macros. Throw all in freezer then you have it ready to go when you need it

Tonight I used prepackaged salad from Tesco, sweetcorn from a tin, threw in cucumber and pepper and air fried a big salmon piece with sweet chilli sauce - 20 mins not too much mess!

MadameMassiveSalad · 10/06/2024 21:20

Managed not to eat from about 4pm yesterday to midday today. My stomach was actually rumbling by lunchtime. But it was fine.

Ate small dinner at about 6:30pm today so going to try to go until midday tomorrow. I think it's the only way I'm going to actually cut down the calories.

I like healthy food. I like cooking. I just eat too much!

EmeraldRoulette · 11/06/2024 00:16

@MadameMassiveSalad I’m impressed. I did have a go with it but I felt grumpy and I think ate more in surrounding days.

my main thing is I need to form habits. Years of working different hours- not shifts exactly as all daytime- has left me with no habits. I think I’d benefit from that.

Bluebellsinthewind · 11/06/2024 01:56

Hi can I please join you all.

I am short and 12 stone 12 pounds. I started Nutracheck in January with daily cals at 1500. So far I have lost 5 pounds. My BMI is still in obese range.

This year I've made small swaps that have become new habits. Like not having six slices of bread a day maybe just two. Cutting out having mayo/butter on/with everything. I just remembered about skimmed milk tonight so will swap from semi to skimmed at next shop. Rather than having a share bag of crisps and wine most nights. I've swapped to low cal G&T and a normal size packet of crisps twice a week. I've also slowly started to add in more exercise. Hopefully I can stick with it and add more swaps as I go.

My goal is to lose at least a stone for Christmas.

SiriAlexa · 11/06/2024 17:26

Hello, I wanted to check back in to say that I kept my calorie count within the weight loss range yesterday and it felt great. It was a step in the right direction. 😊

MadameMassiveSalad · 12/06/2024 12:43

Have managed not to eat between 7pm yesterday and 12:30pm today.
It's actually fine.
Am down 3lbs which I'm pleased with this week. So am going to try to keep the IF up! Praying it has some consistent effect!

I'm not someone who can be bothered to calorie count. So sticking to IF and low carbing is what I'm going with.

3st to loose 🙄

MadameMassiveSalad · 12/06/2024 12:45

Also I love not drinking in the week. I just find it really challenging not to have a couple of glasses of wine over the weekend.

Corianm · 12/06/2024 12:50

I’m 10 weeks into diet. Lost 20 pounds. Another 30 to go. Have to say I just feel very down today. Would just love a proper treat. Not a yoghurt with berries. Something actually decent but no I can’t and it’s making me feel a bit depressed.

Would love to take my dog for a walk along my favourite stretch of the Thames and grab a wine and calamari from the riverside pub.

Still proud of my progress.

Dontknowwhyidoit · 12/06/2024 12:55

First week down and 5lb lighter. This has helped to keep me motivated. 9 weeks till my son's wedding and I should be hopefully be another stone lighter.

You've lost a phenomenal amount in just a few weeks, well done! But it's not good it's making you feel depressed. Are you worried that if you allow yourself one indulgence it'll knock you off track? To me, it seems counterproductive to deny yourself a small pleasure when you're doing so well - isn't it more likely that you'll end up breaking the diet anyway because cravings will get the better of you? The walk sounds lovely – how about you get a small portion of calamari with a big green side salad and have a wine and soda mixer and do a few extra laps before going home?
