Determined to lose 1.5 stone by July!

Enough is enough..I need to lose 1.5 stone and to keep it off! My goal is to look and feel better, and to be fitter too.

So I’m only 5ft 2 and have been 9 stone for most of my adult life but after constant takeaways, home baking, lack of sleep and inactivity during lockdown, my weight crept up close to 13 stone / 83kg by the summer of 2021 and my body fat percentage was close to 40% which put me in the obese category.

I managed to lose a fair bit of weight using various methods (SW, 1:1, running,
walking, calorie counting, IF) and I was down to 11 stone /70Kg by late 2023. But over the last year it’s been hovering around 11 stone with not much change which has been frustrating.

The past month or so my weight’s actually been creeping up, the latest is I’ve just came back from a 2 week holiday and weighed myself - I’m 11 stone 8!

This is the heaviest I’ve been in over a year I think and I could see it in my holiday pics :/

I want to nip this in the bud by actively starting to get my weight down
towards 10 stone instead of continuing to head back in the direction to 13 stone.

I’m going to post at least every Monday setting out my intentions for diet and exercise and posting my weight/measurements update. Anyone in?

Will also be a good space to share fitness videos and simple healthy recipes!

Can I join??? I'm 5'2 and 10 stone 7 but at my biggest I was 12 1/2 stone.
I did get down to 9'6 before Christmas but it has crept back up - takeaways and complacency mostly!
I do carnivore and intermittent fasting - it's properly hardcore and not for most people but it suits me because it takes away the constant search for the next thing to put in my mouth.
Wish I hadn't let it slip !!

Autumnintowinter · 13/05/2024 08:36

Well done everyone 🥰

weighed this morning and I am 4 pounds down.
SW- 11.7
CW- 11.3

Really pleased with that. Just got to keep the momentum going and try and stay on track. Feeling motivated though!

brekki today is my usual weetabix and berries and almond milk
lunch will be a sushi type bowl with edamame beans, sticky rice and lots of veggies.
I may make a lentil bolognaise for tea or chilli.

I’ve also upped my exercise and did lots of walking over the weekend and a few home work outs.

Have a good Monday all

Cavilicious · 13/05/2024 10:21

Bit gutted have stuck to my eating plan and stayed exactly the same.

SW: 132 lbs
CW: 129 lbs

No cheating at all. Didn't sleep well last night, have a sore throat a delightful nasal drip so maybe that's it??

Continuing on, surely a drop is due instead of a drip!!

Well done to everyone, some great progress

Imatorturedpoet · 13/05/2024 11:06

I've lost 0.5 lbs which I'm happy about, given how much I ate yesterday!

jobessieandme · 13/05/2024 11:28

Frustratingly I don't seem to have lost any weight over the last week despite being in a calorie deficit every day. I wonder if even 1200 calories is too much for me, although it doesn't feel like it! I am being scrupulous about weighing my food, measuring my drinks etc, and have hit 10k steps every day.

Technically I have lost 0.2lbs, big whoop. I am going to keep going and see if I suddenly see a drop over the next week. Marathon not a sprint etc.

Glad to see others are seeing some progress!

shearwater2 · 13/05/2024 11:44

I have really struggled keeping anywhere near the calorie allowance at the weekend as I'm always doing so much and burn off 2500 a day on weekend days. I'm going to try 5:2 again - it definitely works, as then I can have more calories at the weekend without impacting on weight loss, and the variable calorie intake seems to help with weight loss- the problem was in the past I just stopped and went back to normal so piled the weight back on. I would have to do 6:1 and count calories for a good while once I get to goal weight.

Whycantibetangy · 13/05/2024 12:01

Am I too late to the party? 5'3" and 11st 8.5 I managed to lose 1.7st on SW but then hovered around the 11st mark for a year before I flounced 4 weeks ago. I've put 8lbs on in 4 weeks 😳
I started 16:8 today on the recommendation of a friend as I have a holiday booked for 17th June. My original TW was 10.7 so anything near that would be amazing.

ridingfreely · 13/05/2024 12:03

You might actually not be eating enough. I’m v active - usually do about 12k steps a day plus exercising on top and I’m doing 1400. I’m 59 so I’m sure you probably need more than 1200.

I restarted IF a while back and didn’t lose any weight at all. I felt exhausted too and have worked out now that maybe I wasn’t eating enough.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 13/05/2024 14:24

You might actually not be eating enough. - if you have a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. That's why people who don't have enough to eat starve. Whether the limited calories you've been having is actually a deficit for you is what you need to look at, plus have you been accurately recording everything you eat and drink and the calories? Have a look at a TDEE calculator and see what calorie limit that recommends. Don't count yourself as particularly active if you spend most of the time sedentary apart from the walking you're doing. And don't eat back your exercise calories: it's virtually impossible to accurately work out what you've burned so don't go eating another 200 cals because your watch tells your walk has burned that many.

Factors that can affect how quickly you lose weight include hormones, so where you are in your menstrual cycle? Do you have water retention? Don't be tempted not to drink as that can make things worse. Medication and some medical conditions. Sometimes if you've made a big change, your body will resist, but as you carry on the weight will start to come off.

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 13/05/2024 14:27

I haven't weighed myself yet - I am not expecting a loss, probably a short term gain! Was out for dinner on Thursday then away from midday Friday so eating hotel breakfast and eating out in the evening. We had a takeaway and wine last night. I did get to the hotel gym on Saturday morning, in a kind of half-arsed fashion if I'm honest, and I did loads of walking.

Today, I am back on the plan.

alrightluv · 13/05/2024 14:59

13 st today! Loss 3lbs.

I've been eating more veg. Drinking more water. And walking more.

Just need to keep at it. I could tell I'd lost a bit in my face. Dh commented too. I'm surprised to see a difference already.

Pinkvici22 · 13/05/2024 18:21

Really enjoying reading all the updates, I think for us all we have good and bad days/weeks. I find it very frustrating if I don’t see a loss but agree with others that there’s so many factors.

Ive struggled today - still doing 16:8 even at the weekend. Didn’t calorie count at the weekend but don’t think I was too bad. Back to it today and I’ve just finished eating and I’m already craving something sweet!

Inspectorlemon · 13/05/2024 18:51

11 stone 8 today so lost 2lb which I am very pleased with. Difficult week ahead so hoping to stay the same.

Hellohihola · 13/05/2024 20:01

Jumping on this too!

i started IF on Saturday (random choice of day I know).

5ft!
CW - 54.3kg
TW - 50kg

Today I have had -

bran sticks w/ chopped banana & semi skimmed milk

apple & 2 breadsticks

quorn chilli con carne with rice and avocado

2 cups of tea & 2.5litres water

i do need to incorporate more protein but I just take what I can get whilst looking after my children, school runs etc!

goingdownfighting · 13/05/2024 20:52

Great updates everyone. I'm struggling today but soldiering on.

I think I'm asking going to record my non scale wins every week too at weigh in as those will get me through when the scales don't reflect my efforts.

Keep going everyone.

Picoloangel · 13/05/2024 21:34

We will all have weeks where we don’t lose or can’t measure our progress in a tangible way. My weight drops so slowly now I’m older. I’m trying to stick to 2 meals a day most days and doing IF 16:8.

I definitely find my water intake drastically affects my appetite. The days I drink more I’m definitely less hungry.

NarrowGate · 13/05/2024 21:52

I’m 60.3 kg today which I’m really happy about - a 1kg loss since this time last week. I didn’t have the best week diet or exercise wise, so it’s good to know even a little bit of care has helped.

I’m also now 34.5 inches around the waist - just that half inch loss has made my jeans more comfortable.

I have upped my water intake too as usually only drink tea. 1.5 litres of water today and I haven’t snacked half as much! Going to try for 2 litres tomorrow but it just makes me wee loads. Does it settle down?

Picoloangel · 14/05/2024 06:38

@Whycantibetangy yes it definitely does particularly if you drink little and often rather than a few big drinks. Keep going. 😊

ItsTapasTime · 14/05/2024 09:55

im late to the party, but can I join?
It’s 5 weeks to my holiday and I have been losing and gaining the same 5 lbs since January! I really need to lose 10lbs to fit comfortably into my holiday clothing ( I always go up a clothes size in the heat).
Drastic action is needed, so I’m trying to do fast 800. Was successful yesterday, but have woken up today with the most banging headache. I’m trying to do IF, keep to low carbs, no snacks and limited alcohol. If this doesn’t work, nothing will 🙁

alrightluv · 14/05/2024 10:04

Welcome @ItsTapasTime . Are you drinking enough water?

Probably not. I usually have at least 5 cups of tea in the morning, but didn’t yesterday as I was trying to keep to 16:8. I did have some water, but probably not equivalent to my normal tea consumption. Will try harder today 😀
