Determined to lose 1.5 stone by July!

Getfits · 04/05/2024 18:23

Enough is enough..I need to lose 1.5 stone and to keep it off! My goal is to look and feel better, and to be fitter too.

So I’m only 5ft 2 and have been 9 stone for most of my adult life but after constant takeaways, home baking, lack of sleep and inactivity during lockdown, my weight crept up close to 13 stone / 83kg by the summer of 2021 and my body fat percentage was close to 40% which put me in the obese category.

I managed to lose a fair bit of weight using various methods (SW, 1:1, running,
walking, calorie counting, IF) and I was down to 11 stone /70Kg by late 2023. But over the last year it’s been hovering around 11 stone with not much change which has been frustrating.

The past month or so my weight’s actually been creeping up, the latest is I’ve just came back from a 2 week holiday and weighed myself - I’m 11 stone 8!

This is the heaviest I’ve been in over a year I think and I could see it in my holiday pics :/

I want to nip this in the bud by actively starting to get my weight down
towards 10 stone instead of continuing to head back in the direction to 13 stone.

I’m going to post at least every Monday setting out my intentions for diet and exercise and posting my weight/measurements update. Anyone in?

Will also be a good space to share fitness videos and simple healthy recipes!

Have just picked up the thread and would like to join. I have been losing the past month. Weighing daily and this morning was 94.6 kg 170 cm height. Down from 99 approximately a month ago. Am eating twice a day in a 6/7 hour window. I trashed my gut eating quorn a few months ago so can’t eat sugar or fruit as both give me terrible headaches. I’d just like to be in my bmi range so I have a lot to lose. Will see how I get on…

How did quorn trash your gut? Is it an allergy thing? I was thinking of adding some into my meals as I thought it’s supposed to be better for you than mince?

LL1991 · 27/05/2024 10:57

Hiya, same(ish) boat here! I’m 5 foot and currently 166lbs (I was 169 a couple of weeks ago!). When I married 5 years ago I was 133lbs. I’ve had almost 2 years off exercise due to complications during pregnancy and then having and really struggling to get back on my feet with first baby.
In the past I have weighed this much but got it off before and did ok maintaining it for a while. This much weight on a 5 foot lady just looks so wrong and I’ve also just seen holiday photos that have tipped me over the edge!!
Just hired a PT as know I need some extra motivation and accountability but I appreciate that’s a luxury that not everyone can afford.
Tips I’ve been given that are easy to incorporate are the usual but I’ll pop here in case they help:

  • 2-3litres of water a day
  • 8-10k steps a day (5k minimum if having a lazy Sunday)
  • track macros in my fitness pal (this has leats helped me before too)
  • minimum 3 weighted workouts a week, 1 cardio and 3 rest days. If you want to workout on rest days too then add in extra cardio
  • every workout should feel like you are giving no less than 80% effort/exertion (I’m trying to work this on out myself!)
  • Limit dipping sauces
  • avoid sodas, including diet variations
  • 7-9 hours quality sleep each night
Maybe try and stick to the easiest 3 and see how that goes if this seems like a lot. Hope this helps, good luck 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Morning, weighed myself first thing this morning and have lost another pound woo.

SW 18/5: 15”9
27/5: 15”0

Can’t wait to get under 15, it will be the first milestone down, though 14 is the one I’m coveting as that’s when I start hiding the weight better and fitting back into my clothes.

I’ve been sticking to Fast 800 and 16:8 IF, no exercise atm and LOTS of water. It’s been pretty straightforward, the food is satiating. It’s just boring not eating for long periods when you’re so used to putting food in your gob all the time!

Autumnintowinter · 27/05/2024 19:22

Evening all:
weighed in at 11.05 pounds this morning so another 1.5 pounds off. That’s 6.5 in 3 weeks so I’m pleased
Had a blip yesterday and had a few beers and some crisps but been back on it today and have prepped for work tomorrow and will leftover bns and chickpea home made curry for tea tomorrow.
Want to be back in the 10’s next week.
Have A good week everyone

I think it’s because it’s a fungus. I have a lot of food sensitivities. Gluten, dairy (cheese is okish), soy… I know what I have to do to get better 7 one of those things is to eat very healthily. I now can’t eat fruit or consume sugar without getting a terrible headache so those are out. Butter is in to repopulate my large intestine - I am taking advice.

Whycantibetangy · 28/05/2024 01:30

Oh @MummyoflittledragonI feel for you, that sounds really miserable. But on the upside, should be fairly easy to drop some pounds

Mummyoflittledragon · 28/05/2024 06:25

Thanks. Well there is that lol. Although I’m eating quite a lot, mostly only twice a day. Didn’t bother to add my weight yesterday as I’d only given it on Saturday. But I was 94.4, 200g down from 2 days ago. But a glass of water can make that difference…

My full term weight with my dd was 94kg and from the start of ivf to giving birth I put on at least 25kg so there’s a way to go before I am a good weight albeit not expecting to go below 70kg again. Last year I was 110kg at my heaviest btw.

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 28/05/2024 07:25

@Getfits there is a sub reddit on reddit called Petite Fitness. Great to see what worked for other petite women.

I'm 5ft 2 and in February weighed 9stone 5lbs and was going upwards. I've lost 11 lbs and am now 8stone 7lbs.

What worked for me was keeping cals under 1200 and making sure im eating 1200 cals of nourshing food and not crap. Massively increasing steps. Cut out/down alcohol. Lifting weights.

I'm now in maintenance weight but trying to loose body fat which means I'm at a minimum hitting 100g of protein a day

socks1107 · 28/05/2024 07:59

Morning I lost another 2lb this week! That takes me over the first goal I had set my self and now I've set a mini goal before my holiday in two and half weeks. Not sure it'll be do able but will try.
When I get home I have another holiday in ten weeks so will push for the final goal over summer.

What's been strange is it's only now two stone in that I'm really feeling different! Suddenly I feel good although I didn't on Sunday, but mostly the last two weeks or so I really do

shearwater2 · 28/05/2024 10:25

2lbs off now in two weeks back on 5:2 after a plateau and new scales weighing me half a stone heavier than I thought I was 😓. At this rate I'll soon be back at the weight I thought I was 😂

SW: 12 st 13lbs
CW: 12st 11lbs
GW: 11st 6lbs

Imatorturedpoet · 29/05/2024 12:40

Weighed in this morning, down another lb since Saturday and half an inch off my waist 😊

goingdownfighting · 29/05/2024 13:03

Amazing losses everyone! Well done.

I'm struggling but still in the game. Had my first proper hot flush this weekend and my period again (it's only been a week since my last one) so I'm a bit all over the place hormonally.

Hope everyone is ploughing through the week ok. Some better weather would help.

Getfits · 29/05/2024 19:59

Thanks @TakingTheHorseToFrance I’ve joined that sub-Reddit now.

And well done on your weight loss and reversing the direction of where your weight was going.

I’m back on track today after over-eating somewhat on the first few days of my period. And yeah I’m trying to make much smarter choices with what I eat . As well as the health benefits, I know I stand more of a chance of keeping to 1200 calories if the meals are nourishing.

I think I’ve kept to just about 1250 calories today and I’m not hungry at all. If I’m feeling peckish later I’ll be ok with some tea.

Great to see all your progress! Well done!
I'm just checking in with a weigh in as I have lost another 2.5llbs so I'm happy with that.

CW-9 stone 2.5llbs
SW-10 stone 1llbs
GW-9 stone

Feeling hopeful that I might make it to 9 stone by July. 🤞

Getfits · 30/05/2024 09:11

That’s amazing @ProgressIguess it looks like you’ll hit your goal weight very soon!

How’s everyone? Still going i hope ? It’s one month until July starts - keep going! Or start if you haven’t already! If you’ve fallen off the wagon this week /today remember tomorrow is another day!

My next mini goal is to get down to 70Kg/11 stone by Monday. That would be a loss of 6 pounds altogether so far; but I’ll see how it goes. I’m 71kg today and the weekend is coming 👀

This is around the weight where I plateaued last time and kept gaining /losing the same 1-2kg so I’m trying to keep to 1200 calories a day including weekends and slowly increase my steps so the scale continues to go down!

I’m springcleaning and reading this weekend - rock n roll 🤘 And I also have a 2 hour driving lesson.

I had a smoothie for breakfast and having a bean burger for lunch and a creamy pasta dish for dinner. This weekend I’ll aim to really plan my meals ahead for the following week , so that I do my weekly shop quite purposefully rather than having to make do with whatever I’ve bought from the supermarket if that makes sense?

Have a great weekend everyone, hope you’re doing something more fun than spring cleaning 😆

I am now back from my holiday but broke my ankle yesterday. I am usually v v active so this is going to be hard. I’m going to try and keep on top of my calories but it is what it is I guess and I’ll have to wait and see how it all heals.

Sounds like it’s going really well for you OP keep
up the good work!

Getfits · 31/05/2024 20:17

Oh no - not good! Sorry to hear that @Picoloangel . I hope your ankle heals soon.

And yeah it does feel like a setback when you can’t exercise much but it can make you focus on diet /calorie intake more. I have friends who WFH and don’t do home workouts / walks so just very sedentary but have still managed to lose 3+ stone.

Hope you had a good holiday though!

Picoloangel · 31/05/2024 21:34

Thank you @Getfits
This is sort of how I got into this mess in the first place. Had a number of injuries - nothing serious but kept interrupting my regime.

This is my worst nightmare - I’m one of those people who is always on the go. Always walking etc. This is going to be hard. I will just focus on my food and let the injury heal not much else I can do. Thank you though for starting this group because it’s completely changed my mindset at a time when it really needed it!

Pinkvici22 · 31/05/2024 22:04

Very grateful to read all the posts…to keep me going when I’ve had a food and wine filled half term!

just booked a mini break for end of June so that’s motivation…aiming for another 7 lbs so that’ll be 1 stone by end June.

Netcam · 01/06/2024 08:37

SW: 9 1/2 stone
CW: 8 stone 4
TW: 8 stone
Only 4 pounds to go! And I was away at half term and managed not to put any on, despite a little wine and being slightly less careful about what I was eating. Think the hiking we were doing made up for it.

Imatorturedpoet · 01/06/2024 11:07

Weigh in day for me.

Starting weight 12 stone 12
Current weight 12 stone 5.6

That's 2 lb off this week 😊 Pleased with that.

I'm finding 16:8 quite easy to stick to.

goingdownfighting · 02/06/2024 09:57

@Pinkvici22 hope you're in too much pain. Just do what you can and hope you heal well.

Well done on the losses all.

I am down 1lb this week.

Stats:

SW:147lb
CW: 143.6lb
GW:125lb

Not many NSWs this week but I'm glad to be back on track.

16:8 is working for me too, and I am managing to fit it around my lifestyle.

A challenging week ahead with work travel and kid's activities. I havey first reformer class on Friday which I'm really looking forward to.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday

goingdownfighting · 02/06/2024 09:57

Sorry @Pinkvici22 I meant not in too much pain sorry!

Mynewnameis · 02/06/2024 20:56

I properly fell off the wagon last week. The scales were horrific this morning but I'm trying to tell myself some of the water bloat will come off in a few days. My stomach looks big. It hopefully can't all be fat. Oh well I can't undo it now.
