Determined to lose 1.5 stone by July!

Enough is enough..I need to lose 1.5 stone and to keep it off! My goal is to look and feel better, and to be fitter too.

So I’m only 5ft 2 and have been 9 stone for most of my adult life but after constant takeaways, home baking, lack of sleep and inactivity during lockdown, my weight crept up close to 13 stone / 83kg by the summer of 2021 and my body fat percentage was close to 40% which put me in the obese category.

I managed to lose a fair bit of weight using various methods (SW, 1:1, running,
walking, calorie counting, IF) and I was down to 11 stone /70Kg by late 2023. But over the last year it’s been hovering around 11 stone with not much change which has been frustrating.

The past month or so my weight’s actually been creeping up, the latest is I’ve just came back from a 2 week holiday and weighed myself - I’m 11 stone 8!

This is the heaviest I’ve been in over a year I think and I could see it in my holiday pics :/

I want to nip this in the bud by actively starting to get my weight down
towards 10 stone instead of continuing to head back in the direction to 13 stone.

I’m going to post at least every Monday setting out my intentions for diet and exercise and posting my weight/measurements update. Anyone in?

Will also be a good space to share fitness videos and simple healthy recipes!

IV had a relatively good week with IF - very hungry today! We will see what the weekend brings and I will look forward to Mondays weigh in 🙈

shearwater2 · 17/05/2024 12:24

Lost a pound last week after a long plateau, sorry I forgot to post after Monday as I tend to weigh myself on a Tuesday morning.

I switched to 5:2 as I think the variable calories thing is the key for me- plus it allows me to eat a bit less during the week and more at the weekend.

Also I have ordered some better digital scales as I think my analogue Salter ones are a bit knackered/unreliable. Someone stood on the glass bit and it is falling in on the dial - that's my excuse for the needle not moving anyway. 😀I'd just like something that weighs in smaller increments too.

Pootlepins · 17/05/2024 12:37

What a lovely thread, you’re all so encouraging with one another and some great results! It’s keeping me on the straight and narrow too - every time I feel like cheating I come and have a read, so will continue to follow along quietly 😄

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 17/05/2024 13:50

Thanks @Mynewnameis and @goingdownfighting - I am ploughing on! I don't think things were helped by me missing a gym session: nothing I could do, there was an accident which meant I was stuck in traffic.

ItsTapasTime · 17/05/2024 14:58

Well, my lose weight quick on the fast 800 isn’t going to plan. By day 4, I felt so weak ( legs felt like lead), that I went back to my bad old ways, so I’m now going back to 5:2 because this has worked in the past. It wont give me the big loss before my holiday, but it is achievable.

shearwater2 · 17/05/2024 16:42

I used to give myself every Friday off when I did Fast 800, and have wine and takeaway.

I managed it for 8 weeks and lost over a stone, but this was in lockdown. I just couldn't do it in normal life. Plus it's too severe for the amount of exercise I do now. 5:2 is good though.

Thanks @shearwater2. I’m sure it works for some people, but not for me ( and my job - lots of steps). A fast 800 recipe book will be on Vinted soon, if anyone is interested 😀

Last night was not good, I had pizza. Then this morning my 8 stone 6 and gone up to 8 stone 8! I seem to be plateauing at about 8 1/2 stone. But today was better.
B: kefir with chopped pear, almonds and pumpkin seeds, skimmed milk decaf cappuccino
L: Big salad with cucumber, tomato, red pepper, apple, olive oil, ACV, turmeric and curry sauerkraut and pine nuts.
S: 2 squares 85% chocolate
D: Curry made with fresh salmon, spinach, green beans, red pepper, fresh garlic, ginger and turmeric, spices and coconut milk.
Going to have a little glass of red wine (half a 187ml can to share with DH), feel like I want to relax after a busy week at work.

Pinkvici22 · 17/05/2024 20:09

Looks like lots of us having a tricky week!

I have been so stressed this week that I have definitely not been as good as last week. Planning to weigh tomorrow. Not too optimistic although my clothes are starting to feel better.

I’ve had a couple of glasses of wine tonight so hope that hasn’t sabotaged me 🤦🏻‍♀️

goingdownfighting · 17/05/2024 22:27

@ItsTapasTime. I'm doing 16:8 at the moment and the others at work who have been doing various iterations of fasting gave me a few tips/advice which have really helped me:

  1. The first 3-4 weeks is the hardest.
2 prioritise sleep. Basically sleep as much of the fasting period as you can.
  1. Exercise only if you can - I plan to build it in at about week 4 but try to stay active.
  2. Break you r fast with something small and then wait an hour or so before you eat a meal.
  3. Incorporate some complex carbs at the end of your fast to prevent hunger pangs later as your glucose levels drop.
  4. Water water water

I'm week 2 and still yet to feel that amazing energy burst but I'm losing inches.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll find a way that. suits you, and expect a little trial and error.

ItsTapasTime · 18/05/2024 07:29

Thanks for the advice @goingdownfighting

Perzival · 18/05/2024 10:36

Weighed myself this morning and I'm 11.8 which is great but I'm going out to catch up with some friends so I'm sure it'll be higher tomorrow.

Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine 🌞

icecreamisforwintertoo · 18/05/2024 21:10

Had a mixed day yesterday. Went for a run - walk for the first time in ages, after recovering from covid. Was tough but good to get out in the sun.
Breakfast : porridge, berries, yoghurt - didn’t finish it all which is unusual for me as in terrible at stopping when I’m full.
Lunch : small portion of left over chili
dinner: went out for a Greek meal and had half a bottle of wine and a couple of beers. Ate quite a bit as the food was yum and no idea of calories but didn’t polish everything off or have dessert

today:
breakfast: muesli, low fat Greek yoghurt and a banana
lunch: quarter of a pizza and salad (restrained for me & skipped garlic bread)
apple and a few dashes / olives as snack, gin and tonic

dinner : roast beef dinner. Calorie heavy but no seconds and only berries for dessert. Did have a red wine though.

I think it’s inevitable that weekends are going to be mixed but I was quite pleased with myself for resisting sweet food, more wine etc and portion control felt better

hope everyone is having good weekends!

goingdownfighting · 19/05/2024 08:37

Good morning!

Weighed in today with much trepidation after a big meal yesterday.

SW:147lb
CW: 143.6lb
GW:125lb

2.2lb loss. Happy with that even though I could have done better. Balancing normal life and fasting has been tricky this week.

NSWs: Clothes are feeling comfortable, I have a proper waist emerging, I feel less bloated. I feel in control of my health. I'm keeping up with my skincare as my self esteem has had a boost.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Netcam · 19/05/2024 10:12

Back down to 8st 6 today. Was sensible yesterday.
B: kefir with chopped pear, almonds and pumpkin seeds
L: 1 egg omelette, big salad with cucumber, tomato, apple, celery, avocado turmeric and curry sauerkraut, olive oil
D: burrito with chilli made with lean steak mince, kidney beans, mushrooms, red pepper, side veg was steamed courgette, green beans and carrots.
I didn't have any of the home made oven baked potato wedges DH made for himself and DS2, I didn't have any alcohol although DH had a beer. And DH and DS1 had my favourite ice cream which I also declined.
Instead I had 1 medjool date as a treat.
And I felt OK with all that and not deprived.

Mynewnameis · 19/05/2024 10:50

I was out Friday night so expected the scales to go up and they did.
Started today with a bike ride and just had dippy eggs and asparagus.
Eating in pub tonight and have examined menu in advance. Surprisingly lasagne is one of the better options at 780 calories. It's a very unhealthy pub! I'll just have to say no to wine and dessert... oh god help my will power.

Total loss 8.4lbs. Still a way to go, but it's a hell of a lot better than having those 8lbs and more probably if I hadn't started this diet plus joined gym.

Getfits · 19/05/2024 15:11

I hope everyone’s having a lovely Sunday. The sun is finally out here where I am ☀️

Well done to everyone who has lost more weight 🎉I’ll be weighing and measuring myself tomorrow morning.

I did some cleaning today and I can’t resist baking in a newly cleaned kitchen (any excuse 😄) I’ve started adding matcha powder to smoothies as I love the taste and heard it suppresses appetites. Today I made a small matcha sponge cake using a mixture of white and wholewheat flour and replaced refined sugar with banana and erythritol.

After eating a few slices with some coffee for breakfast /lunch I froze the rest which is not something I’m usually able to do with cake so I’m taking it as a win. It also didn’t give me that sluggish feeling that supermarket baked goods often does and because it was not so sugary I didn’t crave the whole cake . I’ve also had some seeds but that’s it and not hungry at all.

I’ll be drinking lots of water and unsweetened decaf tea for the rest of the afternoon.

For dinner I’ll have chicken , a small portion of rice and veg and maybe a hot chocolate if I get peckish later on.

Mynewnameis · 19/05/2024 21:22

I didn't say no to wine in the pub. Had two. Did say no to dessert. But ate half my daughters leftover burger plus chips going spare. I've estimated I'm just about breaking even calories wise today so have taken myself upstairs to bedroom away from further temptation.

Picoloangel · 20/05/2024 06:57

Hope everyone has had a good week. I’ve put on 1/2lb but not worried as losing inches.
I’m doing my 16/8 IF, eating healthily and exercising regularly.

We are going away next week and staying in a v remote location so not sure how I’ll be able to eat healthily etc but hopefully I’ll still get some exercise in.

ItsTapasTime · 20/05/2024 07:28

Hello everyone.
Well after 3 days of fast 800 and 4 days of total pigout, I’ve lost 1lb!
At the weekend I visited the local gym and signed up with a personal trainer for a few weeks. I’m hoping to tone up a bit for the holiday. We shall see.
It sounds like most people are making some progress. Well done! Very inspiring.

Hellohihola · 20/05/2024 07:35

Morning!

My scales have not moved this morning however I have been weighing myself everyday and there has been a positive fluctuation! No gain and my clothes are feeling looser so I will take that as a win as for me it’s only been 1.5 weeks of IF/eating healthy.

well done everyone ☺️

jobessieandme · 20/05/2024 07:41

Morning all!

After an over indulgent weekend I was dreading the scales but I'm weighing in at 142.6lbs which is not too bad. I've lost 5.2lbs in 3 weeks now so am relatively happy with that.

Today's food plans...
B smoothie
L butternut squash galette
D salmon and veggies

And a run this morning in the sunshine.

Wishing you all a sunny Monday!

Whycantibetangy · 20/05/2024 08:35

Week one of 16:8 complete and I have felt on the wrong side of hungry for quite a chunk of it. However 3.5lbs off in a week is fantastic. I’m going to up my water intake this week to see if that helps with the hunger pangs.

SW: 162.5 lbs
CW: 159.2 lbs
GW: 147 lbs

Netcam · 20/05/2024 08:43

8 st 5 this morning!
SW 9st 7
TW 8 stone
It's been 6 months still I started, but it's the first time in years I've been below 9 stone. This time I think it's actually working and is hopefully sustainable.

Cakey46 · 20/05/2024 09:29

Morning everyone.

Weigh in day and lost 2lbs which is a miracle considering the week that was a bit out of control in places. A mad 'work' lunch turned into a lot of cocktails and rolling home at 1 in the morning. Then a day that required comfort food for the hangover. Then lunch with friends yesterday - fortunately that wasn't great food so not too much harm done.

There's nothing on the horizon this week social eating wise so I will knuckle down to some good IF and carb free days.

It's good to see people breaking into the lower stone numbers - such a good feeling when that happens.

Keep going everyone! Smile
