Need to lose 1 stone? Gather around....

Not sure if this will get any clicks, but I wondered if there are folks who need to lose about a stone or a bit this way or that who might want some accountability?

BTW When I say "need to lose a stone" this means basically a stone to get to your own, individual target (which could be a random number, a random BMI point, just anything).

For me - 1 stone off takes me to weight before conceiving Baby 1, and 1.2 stone off takes me to my lightest adult weight and a very comfy size 10-12 as opposed to a size 12-14. I have added motivation that a 40th birthday tails off 2024 for me, so I've got a deadline.

My downfall? Carbs. Salty carbs. My body absolutely magically loses if I cut out rice, pasta and potatoes. And yet, alas - it specifically is those that I crave.

Anyone want a loose accountability thread?

I did it! Weighed myself this morning. Thanks for the thread, massive motivation.
I've been using Regucol to reduce my appetite and it has worked a treat.

TheDogdidGood · 22/05/2024 22:10

I've been derailed again by ongoing knee problems and general lack of motivation, but I weighed myself this morning and not too much damage has done - i'm still hovering around the 11stone mark, so I'm getting back on this horse :)

I've going to actually use the mini exercise pedal bike which the physio advised for my knee, and do some hand weights.

How is everyone else doing? Hope all is well x

Swearwolf · 23/05/2024 08:13

I've been a little derailed too @TheDogdidGood - less time for exercise and I've got really hungry of late. My weight is static, though, hasn't gone up.

I won't be reaching my summer goal, but I am suddenly feeling fine about it as I just snapped up an excellent swimsuit in the sainsburys 25% off sale! So now I will look fabulous in the hot weather even if I don't lose anything else... pressure off!

TheDogdidGood · 23/05/2024 22:22

Brilliant @Swearwolf Enjoy that :) We're heading into winter on Oz so I hope I'll look good in a swimsuit in a few months time!

I'm going to do a meal plan for next week. With my new job and long hours DH has taken over most of the cooking and it's been very potato/rice/pasta based. I'm tired and starving when I come home so am definitely not complaining about being fed but I really need to take control eg - have grated carrot with spag bols, and cauliflower rice instead of regular rice..etc.

And winter is a great time for soup :)

I've been pretty stagnant all of May but weigh in this morning I have dipped (only just) below 10 Stone to 9 stone 13.7lb so 0.7lb off the stone since joining the thread.

It's really spurred me on after weeks of no movement and reminds me that stagnation is common for a bit. Very glad I didn't self sabotage 3.7lb to my target

TheDogdidGood · 25/05/2024 23:45

I've stagnated for too many months now @Swearwolf

Weighing in this morning at 11 stone still but have bought lots of salad and soup ingredients for the week. Have pub lunch today - hope there's a soup or salad option!

Goal for the end of the week is 10 stone 13lbs at least. That should be doable :)

Scottishskifun · 26/05/2024 09:09

@TheDogdidGood depending on the salad quite often they can be higher in calories then something much greater (usually due to mayo/dressing/cheese/croutons)
If the place has an online menu sometimes they have calorie info on.
I always have to precheck menus due to gluten intolerance. I've generally found the lowest calorie options are soups, a grilled chicken breast with veg, baked potato as long as filling isn't cheese or coleslaw or a fish with veg option 🙂

If a roast then skip off the Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and only 1 roasty and your pretty good as long as its not swimming in gravy!

Scottishskifun · 01/06/2024 15:02

Weighed yesterday and down to 9 stone 11.5lb a drop of 2lb so have officially lost my stone and a bit more 🥳

I have 1.5lb to go til total target but not far off it so will see how I do.
I definitely found threads helpful at keeping my on track so thank you! Hope your all having a lovely weekend

TheDogdidGood · 01/06/2024 22:01

That’s awesome @Scottishskifun . Well done!

Swearwolf · 03/06/2024 07:47

Congratulations @Scottishskifun!! That's great going. Will you stop here or are you going to keep going?

I'm still only half a stone down, but that's still have a stone lower than I was and every little bit makes a difference. I'm accepting that weight loss is going to happen in a slow downwards zigzag, and trying not to be upset when it goes upwards as it's hopefully temporary.

Scottishskifun · 03/06/2024 09:48

@Swearwolf will keep going to interim target of 9stone 10lb - going to see how I feel there for a bit and see if I maintain it as maintenance then becomes its own separate thing!
My apparent 'ideal' weight for my height is betwee9 stone 7lb but for me that's pretty slim! I am a lot heavier then I look as I have long muscular legs and broad shoulders.

Swearwolf · 17/06/2024 05:55

How is everyone getting on?

Swearwolf · 17/06/2024 05:55

How is everyone getting on?

I'm not, not putting any on, but nothing is coming off. I think it's because in my head I was thinking that this last stone was going to be hard. It's also been cold and salads have not seemed appealing. We had pie, chips, and (a lot) of veg last night.

Swearwolf · 17/06/2024 10:14

@BarrelOfOtters exactly the same for me! Scale hasn't moved for weeks. I think my snacking and alcohol have crept up so am trying to rein that back in a little. Good news is I've been consistent with exercise for the last couple of weeks and that always makes a difference to my appetite. Hoping this is the start of my restart.

freshstartfor2024 · 25/06/2024 16:51

Hiya everyone...jumping in. I started yesterday and finding it soo hard. Have cut out bread, cheese, processed sugar, and what little meat I was having here and there and the bread/carb cravings are insane. Didn't help I had to go to Sainsbury's yesterday and almost everyone was buying nice tiger bread, hummus, chorizo etc etc.

I know I'm eating healthy and enough but even after a big salad I still want more. Had a prawn salad with plenty of veg and variety, no dressing. Was delicious but craving craving starch still. İt's taking everything in me not to tuck into some of dd's smiley faces. Yesterday I had home roasted wedges and veg and I wanted bread bread bread with it.

I've done an hour walk today and yesterday as well as try to dance a bit and physically I do feel a bit better and lighter, so I know it'll be worth it. İt's just sooo hard being strict on myself. Today my clothes felt slightly looser so I know even one day made a difference with all the water retention coming off me.

The only great thing is I've discovered the goodness of okra is helping the gooey cheese cravings. So I'm going to live on that. I don't have any scales, so will just go based on how I look in the mirror and feel.

Meheh8 · 25/06/2024 19:07

Is it too late to join this thread 😅
I really need to lose a stone. I lost 2 stone (finally) but keep yoyo-ing on this last one. I've got so many clothes that I would love to fit back into.
I think a major problem is that I don't have any accountability or I start off well for a couple of weeks then motivation wanes etc
Any tips? Any amazing weight lose tricks I haven't tried yet?!
