Starting 2024 at my heaviest ever weight after being pregnant 3 times in 4 years. Don’t actually know how much I weigh as my scales are broken (not from me standing on them), but I know I’m the biggest I’ve ever been. I need people to know I HAVE to lose weight, for my health and my sanity. So I’m gonna start here, with strangers on the internet. So if I keep eating crap and not an exercising, I’ll have to admit it here and shame myself.
I have lost a lot weight in the past before I had kids so I had time to make it my sole focus, not so simple this time around.
Will sort my scales out and find out my starting weight.
Please join in if you also need a good kick up the arse and we can all muck in together.

I'm going for Saturday morning weigh ins too. Will see if made any difference this week.
I'm committed to exercising at least 3 times a week, walked 7.5 miles yesterday (it helped I had work meetings across London so walked instead of tube). Definitely moved to healthier eating so fingers crossed.

PamelaDoov · 05/01/2024 09:00

@NCgoingdry ooh I see, where do you get it from? For the last couple of weeks it’s been taking me ages to fall asleep. Never normally have that problem. Think it’s the over indulgence of the Xmas period that’s messed my body up. Hopefully sleep will improve as I get healthier. I’ve only just started taking the XLS so I’ll have to see how the weight loss journey goes. I guess it’s hard to know whether they are contributing to any loss, or if you’ve just lost that much anyway! But hopefully it’ll help a bit.
I take quite a few vitamins but they are mainly for reproductive and hormonal health rather than supporting weight loss.

Proud of myself today for doing a double workout this morning and eating really healthy :)

@Gottoloveatakeaway Wow that's a serious walk! Well done. My job is SO sedentary I have to carve out time somehow. That'll be my focus for next week. Good luck for weigh day tomorrow!

@PamelaDoov I just got it from a standard vape shop, it was about £50 but appears to last forever. Just went in there and said - what's your best one 😂 it's not to vape but drop on your tongue.

Almost crumbled this afternoon. Left work late feeling exhausted, starving and just generally under the weather. It's also PMT week so I normally use that as an excuse for a food/wine binge too.

It's only because my DH is also on a diet he was firm and said nope - I'll cook. We had a protein heavy dinner and now I'm just going to snack kimchi straight out of the jar 😂

Would give my left tit for a glass of wine right now.

maybein2022 · 05/01/2024 22:56

I would like to join please if that’s ok.

I have struggled with yo yo dieting and my weight ALL my life. I definitely have disordered eating/binge eating mentality. I had my third child in late 2022, and was the heaviest I’d ever been. Really, really bad. What’s worse is I actually have a lot of knowledge about nutrition and food and love cooking and healthy food… it’s all the extras and bingeing.

I did actually manage to lose about 3 stone last year, but really it should have been a lot more given how much I have to lose. I did it through WW, walking more and cutting right back on UPF. However I still had periods of going right off track and gaining weight back.

Anyway, I want 2024 to be the year I lose the rest of the weight and crack it. I want to be healthy for my kids, I hate how I look and I’m really worried about the health implications. I am doing WW which does help me with portion, very minimal UPF and as little sugar as possible.

Good luck all!

NCgoingdry · 06/01/2024 09:19

Welcome @maybein2022 !!

I've had three kids so I understand the struggle!

Weigh in this morning - 11st11lbs to 11st7lbs.

I haven't lost four pounds in fat in a week 😂 so I'm guessing a lot of water weight but still it's enough to keep me going for next week.

Period due next week too so I guess it'll fluctuate again.

Got up early and had a brisk half hour walk. Feeling pretty energised and pleased with myself that I didn't drink or eat a load of crap!

PamelaDoov · 06/01/2024 09:48

@maybein2022 welcome! That is an excellent reason for getting healthy and fit, I feel the same. I want to set a good example for my kids.
Ive lost a pound this week just from being mindful of my eating and exercising over a few days. So I’d really like to make it 2 pound a week once I start committing to it 24/7.

Morning all! Are we doing Saturday morning weigh-in?

PamelaDoov · 06/01/2024 11:01

@coloursquare yep, 14st 9 this morning, down 1lb

OP posts:
NCgoingdry · 06/01/2024 11:24

Well done on your loss @PamelaDoov

Just think - you haven't overly deprived yourself and if you stick to what you've done this week, by next Xmas you could be 10st!!!

Tiredanddistracted · 06/01/2024 12:11

5 lbs down since Monday. Pleasing, given that I'm not calorie counting!

Gottoloveatakeaway · 06/01/2024 12:30

Morning all
1lb down this morning, not a lot but it's a start.

WelcomeToMonkeyTown · 06/01/2024 12:33

Hi all, can I join please?

I'm unfit and overweight.

I've done WW a few times in the past & got to goal weight (10stone10) twice. Although that's the most I can be for a healthy BMI so the (never-achieved) dream is 10stone.

Since I moved away from the UK 6 years ago I've been forced into kilos which just doesn't seem to have the same effect on me. I used to weigh myself sporadically and when it started with an 11 I knew I had to cut down a bit.

But I just don't have that with kilos. I worked out I should be 68kg to be 10st10 and I'm currently 75.

I'm tracking all my food on MyFitnessPal and trying to go for a walk every evening but I miss my old WW gang and it'd be nice to have a group to check in with every week.

mumof5andfat · 06/01/2024 12:45

i'm 5ft 7 and 15 stones. desperate to lose weight. Unfortunately, i have an eating disorder, but I have to do this now as I'm worried about the effects on my health. I started yesterday. my downfall is sugar. I'm absolutely mortified about being soo big. it really is affecting my self esteem now. My target is the summer. I want to look good. i know i can do it...but do i have the willpower?

poopyface · 06/01/2024 13:08

Can I join as well please ? 14.6 today at 5.5 means I’m obese and another one who thinks not toooooo bad until I see pictures and I realise how bad it’s got over last 4 years. I’m sedentary and drink far far too much booze. Huge overhanging tummy. Plan is calorie counting - ish… 10k steps but have failed all week at that so far and then trying to cut out the usual culprits- bread, pastry etc. help!

poopyface · 06/01/2024 13:09

Oh and huge reduction in wine and need distracting in evenings to get over the wine craving hour (I’m fine once 8pm passes!) - hoping various logging of cals and looking at healthy recipes and mumsnet etc will help distract from cravings

PamelaDoov · 06/01/2024 14:53

@Gottoloveatakeaway @Tiredanddistracted well done to you both! Any loss is a step in the right direction

OP posts:
PamelaDoov · 06/01/2024 14:55

@mumof5andfat thinking about the summer is good motivation. I know I’m so fed up of dreading summer and not being able to wear anything nice becuse I want to hide my body. It’s a horrible feeling and we don’t need to feel like that again! My willpower is terrible but I genuinely feel really good about this so if I can do it then anyone can

OP posts:
coloursquare · 06/01/2024 14:57

I'm 1.5 lb down - pleased with that, but it's been very hard work. 1200 calories a day on my fitness pal

PamelaDoov · 06/01/2024 14:57

@poopyface im a wine-o too 😆 no more drinking in the week (which I don’t usually do anyway except over Xmas) and I’m cutting out alcohol on Friday nights too so that I can continue exercising and eating right on Saturday, rather than writing off the whole weekend to tiredness and post-alcohol junk cravings. will still have a drink on a Saturday night. Are you going to try going dry for a bit or just moderate?

OP posts:
mumof5andfat · 06/01/2024 16:39

I've done low carb/almost keto and did well on that in the past, so thats what i'm doing now. day 2 and so far so good, no sugar and very low carb and even done an hour of brisk walking. I will weigh myself again on Friday (I'm expecting a big drop hopefully as initially its all water weight). I didn't even ask if it was ok to join, so my apologies. But I think this will help me as I've never done this before and it feels like we're all in it together.

PamelaDoov · 06/01/2024 16:42

@mumof5andfat of course it’s ok! This is a place for people to be honest about what they have or haven’t achieved and keep themselves on track :)
We aren’t having a takeaway tonight! What we are cooking ourselves isn’t exactly healthy, definitely a treat meal, but so much less fat & calories than a takeaway. So I don’t feel too bad about relaxing the rules tonight

poopyface · 06/01/2024 17:03

@PamelaDoov hoping to have 3 weeks off but have an event 23rd jan so will defo cave by then. If I could just stick to 2 wine days a week permanently that would be a huge step forward for me!
today 7k steps, brunch veggie omelette (and skipped cheese), dinner is veggie stew and homemade bread (not my ideal sat dinner but using up loads of leftovers) - no booze sigh but will have some choco or savoury treat with a Netflix binge! I will try and use this thread as another logging space - accountability!!! @WelcomeToMonkeyTown I can’t get on with kilos so have to convert to stones and pounds always!

NCgoingdry · 06/01/2024 17:38

@poopyface I have a terribly unhealthy relationship with alcohol and I'm currently AF since 1st jan. Every evening I have to fight the witching hour. And I'm finding I have SO MUCH more time on my hands so I busy myself with the dishwasher and the ironing etc etc until it passes.

I've also started drinking a GINORMOUS mug of herbal sleepy tea so I've got something calorie free to keep putting in my face. It's helping.

Over the influence podcast is quite good that I listen to and from work which is helping me reframe my drinking a little bit.

I'm determined to do dry jan and then reevaluate but the fact I've struggled this much is proving that I have a problem.

Feeling good today - eaten well, cottage cheese, chicken, banana. I've got a Greek salad for later and filling up on Diet Coke and soda water. Loads of plain water too.

Well done everyone on their weigh ins! We are all down!!

And welcome to the newbies. We all have our own reason and our own crutches but we can all motivate each other and be accountable on here! Especially you OP 😂 no pressure.

NCgoingdry · 06/01/2024 17:39

@Tiredanddistracted that's a whopping loss! What are you doing?
