I'm doing daily weigh ins, I find it more motivating. It might not be for everyone but if anyone would like to join in with posting every day your weight and loss, and how the day has gone - to stay in focus. Good luck!

Thanks for the pep talk @Menora :)

It is so frustrating to look back over a whole month and see no change overall. A friend said I need to take measurements as I might be losing inches if not lbs.

I am hard on myself because although I know its OK to give yourself a break when you're ill I know how devious my mind can be and use any old excuse. I will make a meal plan ready for Monday and have a fresh start 💪

Definitely take measurements and photos, weight loss is a really long, boring, annoying, frustrating and often demoralising journey. It can be very hard to keep going but having multiple opportunities to celebrate wins helps.

I have a whole heap of ways that I look for success to try to keep myself motivated.

I have lots of weight related goals to work towards - 7lb, 14lb, 5% bodyweight, 10% bodyweight, BMI overweight, BMI healthy....

Size related goals - size 18, size 16, size 14, lost 1 inch, 2 inches, 3 inches on waits.

Image related - I take photos monthly to compare face, torso, arms and legs. Being able to see my collarbones for example or losing a chin.

Health related - Apple Watch - resting heart rate decrease, respiration rate decrease, increased sleep quality.

OMG yes measurements are really good I agree. I was seeing big drops in inches not always lbs

My measurement goals were to have a waist size lower than half my height and improve waist to hip ratio. All of this will lower health risks. I’m just reaching that stage now which keeps me going

I knew about the waist bit but could you tell me more about the hip to waist ratio thing? Would that vary depending on body shapes (hourglass, willowy etc)? Not trying to have a go just nosy!

Chestnutsroastgreen · 27/01/2024 12:20

Well done everyone.
i also took waist and hip measurements at start of Jan.

SW 90.90kg
CW 89.95kg

very small losses for me, but if it stays off that is the aim! First time under 90kg.

MikeRafone · 27/01/2024 14:35

anything is better than BMI

spackleplumb · 27/01/2024 15:49

@Menora thank you! I did my measurements for the first time in a very long time. Slightly kicking myself for not checking them at the start of this weight loss journey but happy anyway. Waist is a couple of inches smaller than when I measured it in lockdown so counting that as a positive! Hips are also smaller than they were then which is a big relief!

Menora · 27/01/2024 18:13

Muscle weighs the same as fat but is more compact so takes up less space. This can be why you don’t lose a lot of weight at points but can lose inches if you get exercise and weights/strength in to your routine. Technically the more muscle you gain the more calories you can burn, but it’s not that easy to build a lot of muscle and is complicated 😂
women are at risk of losing muscle mass when they diet so that’s why it’s important to have protein in your diet snd using weights to work out

Chestnutsroastgreen · 27/01/2024 19:59

That is really useful to read @Menora and really encouraging, as I am starting some strength training - which was the medical advice, due to various health issues/post viral fatigue etc.

also trying to eat the 30 plants a week. 14 managed so far!

WC 22nd Jan - 216 lb
WC 29th Jan - 213 lb

Menora · 29/01/2024 11:28

Weekend 77.3kg
today 77.5kg

I did have to go to a birthday meal yesterday and it wasn’t easy to choose a good option so I just went with what was best. I will try to make up for it this week!

spackleplumb · 29/01/2024 13:18

Weigh in day today for me and I'm feeling ecstatic.

SW: 16st 5lbs / 103.9kg
CW: 14st 5lbs / 91.2kg
GW: 10st 2lbs / 64.4kg

So that's a 2 stone loss, or a 12.7kg loss depending how you like to do your weight maths. I know I have lots left to lose but feel so proud of it so far.

Chestnutsroastgreen · 29/01/2024 18:46

Some great losses. @spackleplumb that is amazing! How long has it taken you?

SW 90.9kg
CW 89.7kg

spackleplumb · 29/01/2024 22:45

@Chestnutsroastgreen I started actively trying to lose weight around Halloween 2023 so it's been about 3 months or thereabouts. I've consistently lost around 2lbs a week on average by cutting out cheese, crisps, cake, chocolate, sugary drinks, alcohol, pasta, bread, milk and pizza. So it's been heavily restricted but mostly for medical reasons (gallstones).

Menora · 30/01/2024 07:07

Another tiny loss today

SW: 15st 6lbs / 99kg
CW: 12st 2lbs / 77.2kg
GW: 10st 10lbs / 68kg

Chestnutsroastgreen · 30/01/2024 21:40

Impressive lost there Spackeplumb. I have easily cut out alcohol, with more difficulty bread, reduced pizza to once a month treat ( with a green salad and half usual amount) but having been so ill the last few days I am surviving on lucozade to get through work - and sugary snacks.

small loss today.

SW 90.9kg
CW 89.5kg

spackleplumb · 30/01/2024 23:31

@Chestnutsroastgreen that's not a small loss. It's 3lbs! Well done and good choice to have lucozade when you're poorly. I hope you are feeling better soon. And thank you I still have a good bit to lose but I'm happy with the progress so far.

Menora · 01/02/2024 07:09

77.1kg today
drop of 2.5kg since 1st Jan

Chestnutsroastgreen · 02/02/2024 22:30

No loss here. Eating too much sugary carbs to keep going while ill. At least no gain! Not had energy for exercise so step count low.

Menora · 03/02/2024 05:49

77kg. Am losing 100g a day 😂

spackleplumb · 03/02/2024 09:59

Menora · 03/02/2024 05:49

77kg. Am losing 100g a day 😂

That equates to 1.5lbs a week so sounds about right. Well done.

EatingTillIDie · 03/02/2024 16:01

Have had a busy week so haven't posted in a while. Still weighing daily! Yesterday I finally reached the lowest point from 2 weeks ago... stupid January. Onward to Feb!
