I'm doing daily weigh ins, I find it more motivating. It might not be for everyone but if anyone would like to join in with posting every day your weight and loss, and how the day has gone - to stay in focus. Good luck!

Up 1lb today, I think it's water retention from exercise so will make sure I get my 2lts today and see what they say tomorrow.

CoatOfArms · 13/01/2024 12:01

Another small loss today.

SW 85.9 kg
today 76.6 kg
target 70kg

almost half way.

CoatOfArms · 13/01/2024 12:03

Actually more than half way, my maths is crap.

Cinai · 13/01/2024 12:03

I’m still stuck at 84.8kg.
SW 87kg
GW 78kg

I just finished a 5k run and am planning to stick to salads today, hopefully this will finally break the plateau

2kidsintow · 13/01/2024 14:55

3lb down over night.

Due to a sickness bug though, so will bounce back when I start eating again.

Menora · 13/01/2024 17:41

well done everyone and keep going!

Chestnutsroastgreen · 13/01/2024 21:04

Down to 90.6kg tonight
Managed to do 6,000 plus steps every day this week. That is double what I was doing. Having to be careful with fatigue/long covid recovery.

aim is to be under 90kg next weekend.

@CoatOfArms that is brilliant in just 3m! Given up red meat, but still eating cheese here! No alcohol. Trying ti eat more good fats too,

300g down from my low point 3 days ago, so moving in the right direction.

We are using Gousto boxes at the moment, and recipes from mindful chef but shopping our own not buying the boxes and it's helping to have better portions and more veg. Find the gousto meals help to feel full as they have good portions of tasty veg.
Need to shop soon as running low on easy lunches, find it tricky to think up quick lunch options that are healthy and filling but not boring. What do others have?

Wafflefudge · 14/01/2024 10:29

Oh no @EatingTillIDie
You've been losing steadily though. I often find after losing fir a few days I'll jump higher again before coming down again. I always find it demotivating but it does self correct if you keep at it! You are making great progress.

EatingTillIDie · 14/01/2024 10:37

@Wafflefudge I went shopping yesterday in search of high protein ingredients. I've bought some convenient cooked chicken in packs, high protein thin bagels. I thought I would put cheese spread or maybe make bagel pizza for a quick lunch. Got some wheat tortilla wraps. Will probably fill those with tuna. And of course lots of veg to add to this. I also got some Greek yoghurt and will add nuts, seeds, mixed fruit and a spoonful of jam if I am craving sweet things. That's my breakfast for the week. Also have some jacket potatoes. Aiming to eliminate bread as I seems to have crept back into my lunchtimes lately.

Need to find new ideas for the next week. I need variety or I end up craving and binging rubbish.

@EatingTillIDie I tend to batch cook for lunches, but I quite like routine and have no problem eating the same or similar foods every day for a few days.

I have a 'base recipe' which is 500g 5% fat beef mince, one red onion, tin of tomatoes. Then I vary the other veg I add in so it might be chopped peppers, leek, mushrooms, carrot they all have similar calorie counts so I use them interchangeably.

Then I use a seasoning pack for either bolognaise, beef casserole, shepherds pie or chilli depending on what I fancy.

That batch makes 4 portions, each about 200 calories.

I either eat it by itself or add mushrooms, steamed asparagus/green beans/broccoli which are less than 50 calories for a good sized portion.

2kidsintow · 14/01/2024 14:08

I'm a fan of eating the same for certain meals to take the thought out of it.

Breakfast is usually nothing as I can't face it. On very hungry mornings it might be a small bowl of cereal, but I have that maybe once a month.

Lunch on workdays is a bagel or a thin with some philly lite and ham on. I have that with some grapes or an apple - I keep an apple spiraliser thing that my DD had years ago for Christmas (odd child) then stopped using as I like eating my apple in thin slices. :) When not actively trying to lose weight I'll have a cereal bar with it, but I'm skipping that at present.

Dinner is the only meal I then need to give headspace to. Trying to limit carbs and up my veg intake.

No change for me this week. Still 14st 10lbs / 206lbs / 93.4kg

Ugh. I've been so firm on my diet of between 900 - 1000 calories and upped my water intake as well as keeping up my core exercises to get my heart rate going. What am I doing wrong?

What's your height and age, 900-1000 calories seems awfully low for your weight, have you done a TDEE calculator?

That will give you the number of calories you need to stay the same, anything below that should result in weight loss.

Too low and you're likely to burn out and end up snacking, you'll also likely feel very low energy.

Are you weighing/measuring your food to make sure the calorie tracking is accurate?

Menora · 15/01/2024 09:40

@spackleplumb you have lost weight though just not this week? I wouldn’t worry, my daily/weekly trends can sometimes be completely wild. 900-1000 with a lot of exercise does seem low though and I know it’s temping to want to do it fast, this is the definition of a crash diet which is not sustainable, you are better to do this slowly and sensibly. Not only will you form better life long habits you are more likely to keep the weigh off long term. Just don’t be careful you aren’t rushing something that may or may not get you a fast result but make you feel terrible. I can’t recommend the middle balance enough. Not only do I wake up feeling good I also am losing, albeit very slowly… it’s still a loss.

spackleplumb · 15/01/2024 09:41

@FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain I'm really strict about weighing/measuring my food, that's how I can be so exact about my calories. I don't snack at all just breakfast (an apple, 3 white grapes and 3 red and maybe a cracker or two) lunch (usually soup with crackerbread or similar- no butter) and then dinner which is nothing fried, no dairy, no pasta, no rice etc. I then have something like an alpro yoghurt or similar to bring the calories up a little otherwise I'd be way down towards 800.
I'm 5'2" and in my mid 40s.

spackleplumb · 15/01/2024 09:44

@Menora thank you. I've lost 23lbs so far since November so it feels like it's been fairly steady sensible loss so far. I do find it very hard to not go all or nothing, I was anorexic in my teens/twenties and it is really difficult to break out of that way of dieting. It's exactly how I ballooned to the size I am because without the dieting I have zero control and go too far the opposite way. I agree it's not a healthy attitude to food/diet, and I am trying to not go too loopy with it.
