FrancisSeaton · 20/12/2023 17:16

Yes
I am 100% doing it this time
I feel hideous in myself

RomanMum · 20/12/2023 17:18

Hell yeah! (Not till Jan though 😁)

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 20/12/2023 17:19

Go on, I'll join you

DopamineChaser · 20/12/2023 18:57

Me, I will join you all!!

WhatsInStoreFor2024 · 20/12/2023 19:01

Meeeee!!

Whattodo112222 · 20/12/2023 19:02

Me too. I'm currently sporting winter padding 🤣

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 20/12/2023 19:03

Yep. So angry with myself that I didn't sort myself out before now, when I said I would. Many times. I feel so shit, no clothes fit and I'm starting to avoid people. The time is now. Or January.

CoatOfArms · 20/12/2023 19:49

Yes. I have two stone-ish to lose. I have been told I have high cholesterol, probably linked to my dodgy thyroid, but need to be 70kg rather than 80kg. I have lost 6 kg since mid-October, I have tried diets before but the GP really put the fear of God into me with the potential health implications of high cholesterol that I am finding it a lot easier not to eat cake, chocolate, pastries, cheese etc.

Zazu44 · 20/12/2023 20:49

We can do this. I think we should start on 2nd or 3rd as 1st will not be a good day. Any ideas of what to follow? Low carb, fasting, cal count? We've prob tried them all and failed time and time again. But safety in numbers

Im counting calories,I'm on 1700 ,which is actually enough for coffee out ,a couple of packets of low fat crisps and two 500 /600 calorie meals a day .
So far I'm managing,I decided to start last week , because if I told myself a start date of January, that would give me permission to binge between now and January.
Past decembers I've manage to put half a stone on ,so didn't want to repeat the same mistakes

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 21/12/2023 09:59

Like a PP, my cholesterol is high and other health matters are emerging.

I'm going to start off on the Fast800 with not having breakfast for the first 12 weeks (hopefully!) as low carb has worked great for me in the past then maintain by calorie counting and still keeping to low carb on the whole but adding in small amounts of pasta/pizza for a treat, as I don't want to do life without those, just not as much as what I've done previously.

Zazu44 · 21/12/2023 11:31

@AccidentallyWesAnderson think that's a good idea. I have high cholesterol too and have had a recent heart scare. Need to ideally 3 st. I enjoyed fast 800 too, it's sticking to things that I have a problem with.
I'm like " oh I've lost 3 lbs I can ease off" and back to square one.
Am also unfit so need to up my game in both things

Just weighed myself and currently at 79kg exactly. 6kg down in 3 months. No idea isn’t my cholesterol is down too but as DH said losing weight is going to bring other health benefits.

Champagnecharleyismyname · 21/12/2023 11:45

Yes up for this. I joined the 2 stone off by Christmas and lost absolutely no weight.

I'm 55 this year and want to no need to lose the 2 stone I put on post menopause and during lockdown.

I'm starting on the 2nd and focusing on more protein, more fibre and less snacking!

CoatOfArms · 21/12/2023 11:49

i also feel so much better for packing in alcohol. I was never a big drinker but as soon as I hit my 50s I just couldn’t handle it at all.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 21/12/2023 11:52

I'm definitely packing in the wine. Drink far too much and goes straight to the mid section, which is where all my weight lies. Damn you wine.

Zazu44 · 21/12/2023 12:21

Is everyone giving up the drink? 😳. I do snack more when I drink.
So shall we say 2nd and weigh in on Thursdays

savysaver23 · 21/12/2023 12:40

Can i join please, lost 3 and half stone this year, just another 1 stone and a bit left and will be ideal weight.

Calorie counting and 40 minute exercise, 3 days a week seems to work for me, although i only consume around 1100 calories

Goddessonahighway · 21/12/2023 12:45

I'll join in! I've got half a stone to a stone to lose (perimenopause weight gain). Will be trying portion control and running. I've never lost any weight before so will be finding my feet. Will be reducing my cheese consumption too. I'm getting my cholesterol checked on 5/01 so that might have an impact on my diet going forward too.

CoatOfArms · 21/12/2023 12:47

I have become less keen on drinking as I've got older. In my 20s I wouldn't have even considered giving up wine. But it's just sort of lost its appeal. Hangovers have got progressively worse and it's just got to the stage where the advantages of drinking don't outweigh the advantages any more. Yes the calories but also the cholesterol thing, the fact that my parents both drink far too much and I have no desire to end up like them, and the fact i'd really just prefer a soda water and lime.

Everyone has their "thing" though, for some people it might be that they live for a couple of glasses of wine on a friday night. My thing is cake...

CoatOfArms · 21/12/2023 12:48

My next blood test is 5th Jan too, @Goddessonahighway. Really hope it's down a bit!!

Goddessonahighway · 21/12/2023 13:05

Same here with alcohol for same reasons. I far prefer cheese or chocolate. Good luck with next blood tests. Rubbish time of year to have them but important so got to be done. @CoatOfArms

Halifaxnights · 21/12/2023 13:14

Good luck! You can absolutely do this. I did it last year and lost 5 stone with intermittent fasting (I did 1 meal a day, largely, but not madly, keto), and lots of exercise.

Whatever plan you do, if you maintain a bit of a calorie deficit, and stick to it, you will succeed. 🙂

WeirdPookah · 21/12/2023 13:48

I had lost 60lbs this year, but the run up to Christmas has put that back down to closer to 50lbs down.

I'm absolutely knuckling down on things in the new year. It's my best time for getting ahead on my weight loss. Most of what I lost last year was in the first 6 months.

kalokagathos · 21/12/2023 14:25

What worked for me permanently is intermittent fasting 14:10 and also not eating past 6pm at all. No fluctuation in weight I 5 years!
