I struggle because I work nights.....set of 7 night shifts 11 hours long

We snack to get through it so I will adjust that .... the environment is filthy with rats and cockroaches so plenty to put me off food!!! 🤢

WhatsInStoreFor2024 · 21/12/2023 16:13

And this week my uniform is tight!

Zazu44 · 21/12/2023 16:49

OMG @WhatsInStoreFor2024 that's awful 😮

I'll join please. I'm going to do the NHS calories counting and I don't eat until 11 at the earliest. I feel fat and frumpy.

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 24/12/2023 08:36

I'm going to do 16:8, no eating past 7:30pm (I don't get home from work until gone 6 so need time to prep and eat)

Will be skipping breakfast, lunch break is at 1 so that fits in well.

I will drink tea with milk in the morning so not true fasting - I my might try and introduce black tea as I go on but baby steps!

Must stick to 1500 cals per day and will get back on the treadmill and bike (I have both at home so no excuse). Will switch carbs out and cut down on wine.

3 stone to lose 😬 I must do this

RunningKatie · 25/12/2023 15:37

I am in too, big birthday in 2025 and I'm so fed up of being fat.
I've started at a gym but need to increase my cardio, I have got so unfit.
Oh, and I've got high cholesterol too, yippee. I think I need to lose at least 4 stone so I need something sustainable.

JustNell · 26/12/2023 07:31

Hi, I'm in too.. haven't decided a plan yet but likely similar to what's been said. I'm feeling a bit sheepish because I joined a gym in March and haven't actually been yet!

I tell myself I'm only human and life is too short to be miserable but if I could just get on with it and bloody stick to a diet for a year or so then my life would be far more enjoyable without the self hate and chub rub!

Patchworksack · 26/12/2023 08:47

Me too - I will turn 50 in 2024 and peri has not been kind. I have not actually weighed myself but I am flabby - probably a stone to lose but I would like to feel fitter and stronger too. We always do dry January so that’s a step in the right direction. I need to stop rewarding myself for getting through the day with wine and snacks

movingstars · 26/12/2023 09:15

i could have written this… I’m in for the same reasons

movingstars · 26/12/2023 09:16

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 20/12/2023 19:03

Yep. So angry with myself that I didn't sort myself out before now, when I said I would. Many times. I feel so shit, no clothes fit and I'm starting to avoid people. The time is now. Or January.

I could have written this!

Iamnotapotato · 26/12/2023 09:21

Oh count me in. I’m starting a new job and a new life as a single parent in 2024. I need to shift the weight and find my new me. I lost nearly two stones two years ago but life got stressful and I’m ashamed to say I’ve regained most of it. It has to go for good this time.

ChanelNo19EDT · 26/12/2023 09:24

I might have a look at fast 800 but I will do a day of 1600 every third day so my body doesn't get used to 800 a day (and it would). I overweight, not hugely but I am. Decades of calorie counting quite obsessively at times means that I don't lose so much as a gram unless I go under 1400. I maintain at 1500.

I've got so much left over food, will leave it till 29th.
Is the fast 800 book worth buying, any wisdom in there that I should know about? I already know to pick protein high carb low foods to make sure the food fills up up. Anything else in the book a newbie to fast 800 should know?

feathers7 · 26/12/2023 09:27

Yes please! I need to loose a stone and would like to do so by Easter.
Am just 50, and all of a sudden extra weight has settled around my middle-I hate it!
Definitely up for a new start in the new year.

MercuryRising · 26/12/2023 09:29

Yes please!! I will be here on the 2nd to log my starting weight. I've got about 2 stone to lose.

abbs1 · 26/12/2023 09:31

Yes me! I've put it off so many times. Its now or never.

BirminghamBaby · 26/12/2023 09:33

Me please! I've been thinking about a list to read whenever I feel like reaching for the unhealthy junk. A list of reasons why I don't like being so overweight!

I'm sick of my stomach getting in the way. Literally if I'm sitting down I can't bend forward very far.

I can feel my double chin when I turn my head.

My knees crunch and click.

My movement just feels awkward and unbalanced.

I bought a beautiful new coat and it just about fits but the upper arms are tight enough to restrict movement.

For the first time ever I've had irritated gums and my diet probably contributed to that.

I just don't like the way I look.

And most importantly, I'm very worried my takeaway addiction will catch up with me later on. I just had a baby last year and my child needs her mum around for as long as possible!

zizza · 26/12/2023 09:34

I'm with you! 55, fat, flabby and pretty unfit

I lost weight really well a few years ago when Michael Moseley's 8 week blood sugar diet first came out. Felt sooooo much better despite not getting quite as much weight off as I really wanted, and kept it off for a decent amount of time, but peri kicked in along with lazy habits and I'm back where I started. I think I'm almost addicted to sugar (in tea/coffee, cakes, biscuits, chocolate) and need to treat it like I'm an alcoholic IYSWIM.

Have done Couch to 5k a few times, but I've decided I'm too heavy for that at the mo - I don't think my knees would thank me. But we have a small gym at work and I think I'm going to try going in early at least a couple of days a week to get on the cross-trainer and use some weights.

Aside from the health benefits to sorting myself out, my son's getting married this year - I refuse to look this awful in the photos!!

Thanks for reading!! Good luck everyone

WilmaFlintstone1 · 26/12/2023 09:40

Last year I lost 4.5 stones and felt great. Let’s just say 3.5 stones went back on easily. For my health I have to do this but it has to be sustainable.

thinking of trying intermittent fasting, need to read much more about how I do this though.

Marshmallow87 · 26/12/2023 09:44

I’ll join. I’m 82kg after having my second baby 2 years ago - didn’t even gain it in pregnancy it was bloody after!!

starting fast 800 on 1st Jan. Going to do 3 rounds of 4 weeks and see how I get on, plan would be to then switch to 5:2

hoping to lose about 2-2.5 stone. I’ve lost that kind of weight before but I had way more time as I had no kids

ShitIforgothelves · 26/12/2023 10:48

I'm in!

Goddessonahighway · 26/12/2023 12:10

I said up thread that I think my weight gain is due to perimenopause. I'm on HRT, eventhough I'm only 42. Never had to think about my weight before but my body has definitely changed. I was far from the body beautiful but i always had a healthy relationship with food and my body.

I look about 6 months pregnant now. I crave salt and crisps. I try to be kind to myself and think that of course my body will change, but it's trying to find a balance between that and thinking about health. Eg managing the risks of HRT. And whilst being a good role model for my children around attitudes towards food. It really isn't easy managing the pressures put on women around body image.

Zazu44 · 26/12/2023 15:35

@ChanelNo19EDT the fast 800 recipe books are good and you can usually find them 2nd hand on facebook. There are some lovely recipes in there both the blue and red books.
I'm weighing in on 3rd as I'm away for New year, feel really ready for this 😂

Dinkydoo17 · 26/12/2023 16:46

I'm in. Had a very tough year and am injured so I can't run anything off. And anyway you can't outtrain a bad diet. I've been eating crap so have at least half a stone to lose. Let's go 💪🏻

Newnamebox · 26/12/2023 17:45

I’d like to join you. I have a lot to lose sadly.

ThisIsntThe80sPat · 26/12/2023 19:25

I'd like to join please. I'm 11 months pp with my second and I'm not far off the biggest I've ever been. Legs getting achy every day is a sign I'm far too overweight, and the stark realisation that I'm actually now a size 20 because the size 18 joggers that I got for Christmas are too tight has me feeling determined this year to make a change.

Calorie counting and slow and steady to make it sustainable long term. Half a pound per week of 2024. So hoping for a 26lb loss in 2024.
