2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

So. The last day of the month. And I have lost five pounds in total this month. Happy with that.

SW- 13.1
CW-11.4
Goal is nine stone.

so I think I will see the start of the tens for the new year !!!!!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 30/11/2023 12:46

@Bananas1350 fantastic loss... 👏

ive been off plan these past couple of days to be honest...im usually okay with being off plan for a day but its starting to become a real habit...i need to knuckle down, get back to cooking and make sure i dont lose the dedication. im missing the homemade food anyway - junk food makes me feel rubbish

Goneback2school · 30/11/2023 23:33

Back to my pre weekend weight today. Onwards and downwards!

Seaitoverthere · 01/12/2023 07:20

1lb on for me this week but am not going to worry as have logged everything and have a 5400 cal deficit for the week and think it has something to do with an unexpected loss of 4lbs last week and body sorting itself out.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 01/12/2023 09:17

A quick catch up after I fell off the thread! No loss two weeks ago, a pound off this week. The tiny losses continue! I do hope I can make my original goal of 10lb by Christmas, but it will be tricky. I am away for a few days with work training next week - the schedule is really full, so hotel food and no chance of exercise.

Then it's the start of Christmas parties...oh god!

RedDoughnut · 01/12/2023 09:19

That's a positive attitude @Seaitoverthere!

Some good results over the last few days.

I'm feeling positive

DH has requested risotto for dinner. There seems to be no way to make a tasty diet friendly risotto! Butter, cheese, rice...
I'm trying to think of something I could had if everyone else has risotto. It has to be tasty enough for me not to be tempted...
I might make soup. Then I could have lots of bowls full.

good job guys. im doing a lot better and on track today (so far....its only 10am!) but planning on cooking tonight so dont think ill cheat on my diet today, cooking always helps me. glad to hear about others good results 😃

@RedDoughnut i find risotto is one of those things you need to portion control! could you have a smaller amount of risotto as a "starter" and then soup for main? i dont know, sounds like a bit of work to make both though!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 04/12/2023 07:39

Hello all!
I hope everyone's having a good week. Such a hard time of year to be trying to lose weight, or even just prevent bigger gains. A pound off for me this week.
SW 14st 1
CW 13st 6

That's nine pounds. I do really hope I can get to my goal of 10lb by Christmas, but have a super challenging week ahead with a work trip and a Christmas meal at one of my favourite restaurants. If I can just stay the same I'll be pleased with that.

recklessgran · 04/12/2023 08:29

Morning all this weigh day Monday.
Last week 14st 7lbs
Today 14 st 8lbs
Sigh. I didn't think I'd been that bad but have had 3 meals out this week plus a family get together yesterday on account of DH's birthday.
Must try harder.
Hope eveyone else is doing better than I am!

chalkyc2 · 04/12/2023 09:15

Just a pound for me which is annoying as I've been exercising and on plan!! Never mind keeping going!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 04/12/2023 09:36

@chalkyc2 any loss is a win! Well done. And @recklessgran, it sounds like it would have been pretty impossible for you to have lost weight with so many events in one week. I think we all have to allow real life to get in the way occasionally, and not feel too bad about it.

Just hopping on to say well done @RedDoughnut - you're doing amazingly well and I hope to join you on the weight loss journey soon!!

RedDoughnut · 04/12/2023 17:22

@JaneFoster Thank you!

I'd like to see another 7lbs off by Christmas. I'm probably going to miss my target of 2 stones but it's still been worth it.

When I do risotto and I'm trying to keep control, I make chilli prawn risotto. So I have loads of prawns and just a spoonful of risotto. Might be an idea to help you? Plenty of protein as well.

WinterStar1 · 04/12/2023 21:29

Definitely on the home stretch now, everyone has done amazingly well. This thread started at just the right time and it would be fab to keep it going.

It's helped me lots by checking in and seeing how well everyone is doing and sharing ideas.

I had a good week this week, but i have so much coming up that I will be happy to get that 0.4kg in the coming weeks.

1.3kg loss for me, that 2stone loss is looming. Good luck everyone.

Current loss - 1.3 kg
Total loss - 12.3 kg
Target loss - 12.7 kg

Bananas1350 · 05/12/2023 06:37

Well. Stood on the scales this morning and saw an 11.2. Which is two pounds from last week. I weigh everyday so don’t think I will re see it for a while. But nice to see. One more pound and I have lost two stone!!! Will definitely see a ten on the scales by Xmas I think.

Seaitoverthere · 05/12/2023 08:00

Some great losses here, a huge well done to everyone. I regret not having started earlier but pleased how things are going. My pound on last week has gone along with another pound which I hope will stay gone for WI on Friday.

GoodDream · 05/12/2023 09:21

Well done on the losses 😊 Am still dieting but it's getting increasingly hard! I can feel the pull of mince pies and mulled wine...

I gained a pound of bloat last week, and lost three this week, to make a total loss of 12lbs so far for this challenge. Half a pound more and I will have lost 6 stone!

Of course, problem is that I will probably put 10lbs of it back on over Christmas 😂 But that's what January is for 😅 Is anyone else taking a couple of weeks off the diet, or are you all planning on being good as gold?

RedDoughnut · 05/12/2023 09:30

@GoodDream

I'm definitely pausing my diet over Christmas. I hope I won't go mental but I have lots of goodies in a box in the conservatory.

I have plans for a new thread in the New Year. Maybe to keep things going until Easter?

I have found having an end goal ( Christmas.) tremendously helpful.
I know it's supposed to be a lifestyle change and a permanent diet change but that seems so daunting.

OP posts:
Seaitoverthere · 05/12/2023 09:39

@GoodDream that is absolutely brilliant ! Can I ask what method you are using ?

I’m planning on keeping tracking over Christmas with the aim to maintain over the Christmas week. I’ll have a few light days before and try to bank some calories for Christmas Day and Boxing Day with the aim to have eaten maintenance calories for that week overall.

Seeing orthopaedics today and hoping they have my hip X-ray from hospital I have transferred from and that they will agree to put me on waiting list for hip replacement whilst I lose weight, assuming I need one but would be amazed if I don’t as have hip dysplasia and physio has said I need one. I lost 100lbs previously but unfortunately a combination of pre op Prostap and HRT piled most of it back on and this time I don’t have the mobility to be in deficit to lose 2lbs a week as I did previously.

GoodDream · 05/12/2023 13:15

@RedDoughnut I definitely agree it's good to have a goal! Target can feel so far away and unmotivating. I'd like to lose another stone or two, so would be up for a post Christmas thread!

@Seaitoverthere Thanks! 😊 I do slimming world online, but at a very leisurely pace, haha. I basically lost 3 stone in 2021, maintained overall in 2022, then got back to it this year and have lost another 3 (nearly!). I am also someone who lost weight previously and piled it all back on again, so I don't mind taking the leisurely path if it helps it stay off this time.

Having surgery as a goal must be both motivating and difficult! I'm also expecting to need surgery next year, but I try not to think about it too hard or it makes me want to eat cake 😅 I do think the vast majority of weight loss is what you eat, so I wouldn't worry too much about not being able to exercise right now.

Seaitoverthere · 05/12/2023 13:24

That’s really impressive@GoodDream and a very sensible approach. I found exercise helped hugely last time and did loads of walking and was able to lose an average of 2lbs a week for some time. It is what it is currently and it will just have to be a bit slower which is fine depending on what hospital say about hip. Fingers crossed.

Goneback2school · 05/12/2023 15:37

Weigh in today: 84kg.. I'm now .3kg away from the 12.7kg target before Christmas. Not expecting to hit it this week though with my birthday tomorrow and going out for a meal on Friday

sushinelove · 05/12/2023 16:00

Back to confess! 2 weeks of self sabotage and I'm 3lb back on again. I've no excuses, no stresses, I just wanted all the nice things to eat
I've restarted low carb again and hoping to get through to Christmas without getting my head in the trough again.
So:

Onwards and downwards I go
