2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

@RedDoughnut I am being super strict - no booze no sugar no snacks no white carbs. It's grim but I'm determined. I started back in April and currently 5.12 down. 2.7 stone to go to BMI normal.

I started with Fast 800 - maybe one to look at for a 3 week pre Xmas reset?!?

RedDoughnut · 27/11/2023 09:37

@chalkyc2 I have thought about meal replacement shakes. In fact I have 2 bags of Fast 800 in the house!
Do you have shakes for breakfast and lunch and a small dinner? No dessert? Can you talk me through in a bit more detail please?
If I could stick it I could probably lose another stone before Christmas.
I have had breakfast. I was up at 5.30, had breakfast about 9.

So I could have a shake for lunch today. Dinner is planned but I could have less and pile up the veg?

I'm tempted.

After a weekend away of no calorie counting, takeaways and desserts with the expected weight gain I'm back here again to hold myself accountable and get back on track for the 2 stone off before Christmas.

chalkyc2 · 27/11/2023 10:03

@RedDoughnut - Actually I haven't used the shakes at all. Real food all the way! Yog/berry/seed thing for breakfast or sometimes eggs, and then protein and veg based meals. I used the online plan at the very start - you can adjust it - but now I freestyle somewhat. I think they might do a free trial of the online plan? The book is on amazon and an easy to read intro, with some suggested meal plans.

Like today - I will have a smoothie (yogurt/berry based) at about 11, a really small portion of chicken casserole I made last night, and salmon and green veg for dinner.

RedDoughnut · 27/11/2023 10:10

@Goneback2school
How much do you want to lose in the next few weeks?

I just want to be 14 stone something. I can't remember when I was in the 14s!

RedDoughnut · 27/11/2023 10:14

@chalkyc2

That may be more discipline / brain power than I have!
It rang a bell and I actually signed up for the online plan when it first came out. £99 down the drain as I never even logged on.

It's like most things though. I need to make some time to do the calorie counting, to exercise etc.

I thought losing weight would give me more energy but it hasn't yet. I'm still knackered!

Hey all,

Been a while since I posted but checking in as this thread has kept me going in the past!

I have been semi off plan, but by some miracle my plateau has faded and I have managed to lose another 3lbs. I was really shocked and expected to have gained but I think it was my cycle.. Always follow the trend rather than getting hung up on individual weeks I suppose!

I'm feeling thoroughly motivated and feel like 6 - 7lbs over the next month is manageable in order to meet my 2 stone goal.

Glad to see the thread still going strong 😊

Goneback2school · 27/11/2023 13:40

I had lost 11.5kg, with the weekend I had gained back 1.5kg- hoping not all of that was true weight and will settle more over the next day or two. 12.7kg is 2 stone so hopefully will get there or thereabouts.

WinterStar1 · 27/11/2023 21:04

Hi everyone. Not long to go now .... this has come round really quickly. Another 0.5kg for me this week. Looked back over the last few weeks and the losses are slowing down, might need to rethink what I'm having to eat as I've noticed there is more processed (convenient) foods sneaking back in.

Current loss - 0.5 kg
Total loss - 11 kg
Target loss - 12.7 kg

jeomeollibyeoldul · 27/11/2023 22:25

hey everyone, hope you're all still going strong. there's less than a month left now until our final "deadline"...wishing us all luck. ive no idea how much ive lost as ive not weighed yet but im really hoping for at least a stone. time will tell...

ChickenChipsandBeans · 28/11/2023 07:39

Hi everyone. So, I got back from my trip to the UK last week. Had actually lost 0.5kg whilst was there which I was flabbergasted at. I was mindful though...ate a couple of mince pies, had some trifle, carbs everyday and a few glasses of lovely wine, but that was it. I wanted to have a little, but not completely go mad. Usually I would just eat and eat and eat as I can't get any of it at home. I also managed 1 hiit workout and above 8000 steps a day. However, I then put on 1kg last week. Felt like I needed a holiday after my holiday 😴, I was so tired and just couldn't get back into my routine.. So I won't reach 2 stone by Christmas, but I am aiming for 1kg a week loss until then. Weather has gotten cold suddenly which makes it harder to have the motivation to get out and do my daily walk, but I've been out in the rain the last 2 days which I am proud of as that would usually be an excuse to sit on the settee with a coffee and buttery toast.
Well done to everyone who is still here and trying. We have 4 weeks until Christmas. 4 weeks can still make a difference.
SW 82.2KG
CW 75.4KG
Christmas goal 71.4KG

RedDoughnut · 28/11/2023 07:58

We have some really good losses in the group. That's excellent.

When do we want our final weigh in to be?
I've been doing Mondays but I can't see me waking up on Christmas morning and jumping on the scales!

How about the Friday before 22nd December? And back to it in early New Year?
I know not everyone has as much to lose as me. But I'll need to keep going for a few more months after Xmas.

ChickenChipsandBeans · 28/11/2023 08:02

I will 100% be jumping on the scales on Christmas morning 😂but I also want to continue after the new year, I still have a lot to lose.

shearwater · 28/11/2023 09:48

Boxing Day would be my usual Tuesday weigh in - that may skew the results rather! 😅

Going to skip that one and call it on 19th December, then not weigh myself again until 2nd January.

Anyway, I don't think I'll hit 2 stone by Christmas but I have hit a 1st 3lbs loss this morning. 💃💃I just use the Salter dial scales (as they are the same as ones my GP has) and they seemed to be stuck around the 12 and a half stone mark for ages.

Now 12st 3lbs and they are significantly moving towards the 12st mark. If I got into the 11s by Christmas I'd be ecstatic. But anything is good as I can never normally lose weight at this time of year, and I am always well-motivated January to March so the less I have to lose by then the more likely I'll get to goal in the spring.

Also - looking more long term, I've had a FitBit since my birthday in 2016 so had a look back at my weight stats - see below. Was 14 st 9lbs on Christmas Eve 2016, aged 41, and I'm nearly a stone lighter now at 48 than my average weight in the last seven years. For all of you in peri-menopause, you can do this! Have also added a screenshot of my more recent progress on Nutracheck, and when I started posting on this thread.

Please can I join? I am on week 4 and am not sure of my starting weight but have lost 6.8lbs the last couple of weeks. I’d like another 4lbs by Christmas and figure this way I have a good head start on January and will hopefully keep a check on Christmas gain.

RedDoughnut · 28/11/2023 12:19

@Seaitoverthere Absolutely join us!
We have plans to continue in the New Year. Those with more willpower than me May continue over the Xmas break too.

More the merrier!

@RedDoughnut sounds good. Though I weigh everyday so will still do that on Xmas day.

RedDoughnut · 28/11/2023 12:23

I weighed this morning and was 15.4 1/2!

Somehow seeing this number has really cheered me up. 14 stones something now seems just around the corner.

Thanks to everyone who has kept me company

Thank you very much @RedDoughnut . I have a lot to lose so will need to keep going.

shearwater · 28/11/2023 14:31

That's amazing, @RedDoughnut well done.

Seaitoverthere · 28/11/2023 15:33

Just seen where you started @RedDoughnut , that’s a great loss, well done !

recklessgran · 28/11/2023 17:49

@RedDoughnut that's amazing - if you keep it up you'll have the best Christmsas present ever and be in the 14's! Yippee. I'd better up my game or you'll be snapping at my heels by the New Year - and yes, I'll definitely be here with you next year!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 28/11/2023 19:56

fantastic news @RedDoughnut !
had a completely on plan day today which im happy with! tomorrow i will go into the office, i usually find it easier to eat healthily there, but lets see what happens 😆apparently someone has brought in christmas chocs..

Bananas1350 · 29/11/2023 07:10

Well done. If u do a pound a week u could see that 14 by Xmas!! I don’t think I will see a 10 till the first week in Jan. but I’m still happy. Only a few more pounds and I will have lost two stones since starting.

WinterStar1 · 29/11/2023 22:45

I weigh myself at work .... so ideally I would probably weigh in in Friday 22 December and again on 3rd Jan when I'm back to work.
