2 Stones off by Christmas- a thread for those with quite a lot to lose.

RedDoughnut · 17/09/2023 08:51

2 stones is a drop in the ocean but there are 14 weeks to Christmas and so at 2lbs a week a 2 stone loss is achievable. Maybe a little bit more if you have lots to lose like me. ( 5 stones).

I'm going to weigh in on Monday and possibly check my measurements if I can find a tape measure!

I'd welcome some company form anyone who wants to have some accountability and a place to keep track of their weekly / daily food intake or losses.

I'm now off to have a small and healthy breakfast.

hello everyone! so good to hear from those who have lost again as usual :) great job guys, you are doing excellently! cant believe we're so close already but there is still a bit to go so keep at it.

had another good day today although busy at work, my eating was fine. need to cook dinner shortly. feeling optimistic...

WinterStar1 · 20/11/2023 18:42

Well I survived the buffet last week. Normally I would go and blow it, but I kept on track with all other meals and snacks and still managed a 1.1kg loss this week. So chuffed with that. I have so much coming up in the first few weeks in December that I really need to make a good effort just now.

@RedDoughnut I would definitely be up for another challenge after Christmas as this thread has definitely kept me on track, knowing that I'm having to check in on the Mondays and reading all the posts has been really motivating.

Have a great week everyone.

Current loss - 1.1 kg
Total loss - 10.5 kg
Target loss - 12.7 kg

jeomeollibyeoldul · 21/11/2023 20:09

thats fantastic @WinterStar1 ! 😊
had a good day here again, hadnt much choice as nothing in the house except potatoes and yoghurt so thats what i ate... (not together)...jacket potato for dinner today and tomorrow.
will cook again when our shopping gets in tomorrow. feeling quite tired at the moment for some reason! i wonder if its because its getting so dark so early now? maybe my brain associates it with sleep?? although if i take a nap instead of going snacking...i suppose thats a good thing...

shearwater · 22/11/2023 16:31

Well done, @WinterStar1

I've now lost 1st 2lbs, may make a stone and a half by Christmas but anything this time of year is good.

GoodDream · 22/11/2023 21:19

Checking in after quite a few weeks away! This Monday's WI:

Challenge starting weight: 11st 9
Current weight: 10st 13
Total loss: 10lbs

So I think I've only lost 2.5lbs in the last six weeks, which wasn't quite what I'd hoped for, but it's going in the right direction at least. 3lbs to a healthy BMI! I'm hoping I can manage that before Christmas. Or 4, to make a stone for this challenge.

Dieting is hard work this time of year 😅

jeomeollibyeoldul · 23/11/2023 18:45

hello everyone, hope all is going well. ive been having the strangest time at work lately, it's been a bit stressful. ive been tempted to comfort eat a couple of times, happened yesterday but its been fine today. i cooked today also so have leftovers to eat for tomorrow. im normally on plan 5-6/7 days per week right now so hoping thats enough. as long as it keeps going down even if only 0.1kg a week im pleased tbh.

RedDoughnut · 24/11/2023 11:42

I got a substitution in my shopping.

I haven't tried it yet but it doesn't seem especially diet friendly. I don't know anything about Weight Watchers but this seems like a normal calorie/ carb veggie lasagne to me

Doesn't sound too bad, @RedDoughnut

Bit sugary but my favourite breakfast I have about twice a week at the moment is granola, chopped up pear, Skyr yogurt...and 15g Nutella.

It's about 400 calories, 11g fat, 18g protein and 9g fibre so not too bad as long as I keep the sugar and carbs down for the rest of the day, and keeps me feeling quite full.

And it's just delicious and feels like a real sweet treat. A bit of sweet stuff in a breakfast seems to stop me reaching for biscuits mid-morning when I'm at home.

RedDoughnut · 24/11/2023 13:02

@shearwater that sounds delicious! Like a dessert

OP posts:
shearwater · 24/11/2023 13:34

Yeah, chocolate + pear is a winning combination.

Eventually (I'm using up a packet of Sainsbury's granola which has been languishing in the cupboard, at the moment) I'll make up my own granola with some maple syrup and cacao, so perhaps it will be chocolatey enough without the Nutella, and a bit less processed.

So had the granola mixture for breakfast, lunch was a Karg cracker (pumpkin seed and cheese - really tasty) and a load of raw green veg dipped in Sabra houmous, and dinner will be Chinese takeaway, but I'll use Tilda brown basmati instead of having their white/fried rice (more tasty, filling and more fibre so I don't then eat as much), King Prawns with ginger and spring onion, a few prawn crackers and a couple of G&Ts (and I measured my gin). Comes in at <1800 calories for the day and pretty spot on with all the macros too - not bad for a Friday!

jeomeollibyeoldul · 24/11/2023 19:42

^ omg that sounds great! i would love a chinese takeaway right now...
had a normal, if a bit boring day today. jacket potato for dinner. is it just me or is it harder to eat healthily when its dark and cold?! 😆

RedDoughnut · 25/11/2023 12:09

Breakfast.
I have stayed the same weight all week so I need an extra good weekend to register a loss by Monday

I think weekends may be a bit easier as during the week I can stress eat during working hours ( work at home) or mindlessly snack.
No plans for the weekend other than catching up on household jobs and thinking about Christmas.

I need to think about exercising too. That might help.

I hope everyone has eyes on the prize with just 4 weeks to go!
Please check in if you have time.

Fell off the wagon badly getting over a cold. Change in the weather hasn’t helped as I am craving carbs and chocolate.

just batch cooked some healthy meals that will freeze.

TodayForTomorrow · 26/11/2023 13:56

I'd fallen off with this thread as I've been trying to stay off mumsnet a bit more but wanted to check in.

Started at 14st 10 on 1st September
Yesterday was 14 st exactly.

i definitely won't get to two stone by Christmas but if I could be a stone down, that would be brilliant and the lowest I've been for about two years.

I find myself needing to eat more hot & hearty food. Fewer salads though I do eat quite a lot of raw veg sticks.

Today I had meat at every meal - very unusual for me. Perhaps I needed some iron!

recklessgran · 27/11/2023 06:49

Morning all this weigh day Monday.
Start weight 15st
Last week 14st 8.5lbs
Today 14st 7lbs
Plodding on really and owning up to eating a mince pie as my biggest transgression of the week. This week is DH's birthday and will involve a meal out but otherwise I'm hoping for no distractions from the cause!. I've been busy sorting Christmas as it's a big gig here with 8 adult stockings to do plus DGC's. DH jokes about me being in my grotto wrapping all the time and he's not far wrong. At least it stops me snacking or thinking about snacking. That is generally my worst offence and leads to extra calories I could do without even though I don't allow myself more than 2 a day and restrict the calories to 100 each, max. [Except of course the aforementioned mince pie at 243!

shearwater · 27/11/2023 07:58

Well done rg. I tend to make calorie allowance for mince pies first and choose other food accordingly! 😃

I can't help but feel sorry for myself. I'd been good.
It shows how little I need to eat to stay the same.

recklessgran · 27/11/2023 08:20

@RedDoughnut I'm with you. I feel like I'm on starvation level rations yet it's SO slow. The thing is the less you weigh the less you can eat to lose. It's so frustrating. You've lost more than double what I have though so should be proud. Plus you are also responsible for helping all of us along with this lovely thread and between us we've lost lots of stones! So, thank you @RedDoughnut !!!!!

chalkyc2 · 27/11/2023 08:20

God I know how you feel OP. When/if I ever get to my target I'm realising my maintenance stage is going to be like a permanent diet...

I keep myself on track by thinking well at least I didn't gain and there will be benefits going on somewhere in my body!

chalkyc2 · 27/11/2023 08:23

Weekly update from me -

SW for the thread 21/9 - 14.5/91.2kg
CW 12.11/81kg

10 week loss therefore 1.8

Target - 10.3/65kg (not before Xmas!)

Now 4 weeks and counting until Christmas Day!

RedDoughnut · 27/11/2023 09:02

@recklessgran Thank you! I'm pleased that it's stayed the course.
I'm a veteran of various diet threads on MN and I know they fizzle out.

@chalkyc2 That's an excellent weight loss. I'm pleased for you but also jealous!
You must be being so strict!

I'm currently eating a snack of raw sugar snap peas.
I've just spotted on the bag they come from Peru! That's insane. Now I feel guilty and fat.
