@KateWick maintaining is a huge win, esp since you've been poorly + gone down in dose!

Circa1840 · 20/11/2023 22:04

I have been on Ozempic for about 8 months. I have been on 1mg for the last three. I have just been maintaining now for the past 6 weeks. I have lost 3 stone 5lbs. But literally stayed at the same weight for the past 6 weeks. So I have just managed to get a 1.7 from Juniper. Had my online consultation and they agreed. So I am going to increase my dose to 1.25 to try and shift these last 11lbs. Going to try and get another half a stone off for Christmas. Otherwise I am not losing, just maintaining which is still great but I want to get back to losing. I'm hoping I can cope with the higher dose.... fingers crossed.x

Superlambaanana · 20/11/2023 22:23

@Circa1840 did you struggle to get the higher dose? I'm assuming it gets harder to access it as weight goes down. As far as I can see, bmi must be over 30. Or do the online pharmacies allow previous customers to continue purchasing it after theyve lost a lot of weight?

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/11/2023 00:50

@Superlambaanana I'm a (high side of) normal BMI and (high side of) normal waist now and QuickMeds, who I've been with since the I started in March, are allowing me to continue purchasing. I have 1 - 1,5 stone left to lose before I'm BMI 21 which is where I want to be.

I originally started the journey with Juniper. Although my last 1mg from them was about 3/4 months ago. I just managed to get 1mgs from Rightangled and paused thier subscription. They then told everyone on thier books that if they ordered a .5 from them in Oct, you would br able to get a 1mg in Nov. I got the .5 but sold it to a friend who was strugglijg to get a pen. I had an online consultation yest, had to send in pics (I also said I was 1st heavier than I was). I said because I have been taking 1mg for so long, I should have gone up by now, that I have plateaued. They agreed 1.7 this month and 2.4 next. So I'm hoping to lose the weight this month and use the 2.4 for a couple of months as a maintenance dose. If I can stockpile the 2.4s then they should last me a good while as maintenance doses of say .5?
So yes, you can elaborate, add a stone. They just wanted photos in gym gear. So stick everything out! My BMI is now 24 (started at 32). I think if you can prove your have been on 1mg for a while Juniper will offer you a higher dose. Just email them. They all want the money while the stocks are in....x

@VanellopeVonSchweetz99 well done that is brilliant!

I’m actually looking forward to the Christmas party I’m going to next week as I can wear a dress I want to wear, rather than something that covers me up.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 21/11/2023 17:27

@Twilightstarbright same!
Sorry if this comes across as really shallow but it's an amazing feeling. I am looking forward to things again.
Also food for thought, ie fat phobia and slim privilege is very, very real in our society and it p*sses me off how larger people are judged.

KateWick · 21/11/2023 19:58

@VanellopeVonSchweetz99 It really is! Not even conscious, I don’t think. Yes fine I turn a head or two now but I’ve noticed people treating me more professionally at work since I skimmed down, which is nice but also disappointing.

Twwodoorsaway · 24/11/2023 09:48

I’ve been lurking here for ages, been on Ozempic since January and I’ve lost over 21kg so very happy, although a long way to go still. I just wanted to share that I’ve had a long plateau of about 6 weeks with only tiny weight loss if any, which was dispiriting. So I upped to 1.25mg the last two weeks and finally today have lost another 1.5kg (over 2 weeks as I didn’t weigh last week). I would very much like to lose another 2kg before Christmas as that would take me to a significant number for me. I’m in this for the long game, I have probably another 20kg to get to a healthy weight, although I’d be very happy with 15kg. As in all honesty I can’t remember the idea of being that weight and don’t really believe I can do it.

So many congratulations to those of you now in a healthy weight category. You are inspirational.

Gosh you sound so similar to me! I have lost 23kg since January, it's the first time in many years I've been this weight. I probably would have another 25kg to get into a healthy bmi, like you I have no understanding of what that'd be like after being overweight since my teens.

This medication has been life changing for me and like you I'm in it for the long haul. Originally I thought I'd give myself 6 months to see what would happen but I'm staying on and so relieved that the stock issues are resolving.

KateWick · 25/11/2023 09:24

I did the dreaded photos and Juniper didn’t boot me! It probably helps that I have the worst period bloat but I’ll take it.

leilani83 · 27/11/2023 09:21

Wow, I've moved from 1mg to 1.7mg and having horrendous side effects! I've been on Ozempic/Wegovy for a year and have not had side effects this bad until now! Really nauseous spells (nearly being sick), diarrhoea (sorry!) etc. I even wondered if I was ill, ate something dodgy or had too much wine (two glasses)!

The weird thing is I took two doses of about 1.5mg from a 1mg pen before moving on to the 1.7mg pen and didn't have these strong side effects, just with the 1.7mg. Also have a 2.4mg pen but too scared to go up another dose so planning to take it in smaller doses...

TheWayOfTheWorld · 27/11/2023 10:13

Sounds horrible @leilani83 ☹️

I've got a connected dilemma. I've lost just over 3 stone over 7 months and am now in a healthy BMI.

I've done this without going above 0.5 but now I'm being titrated up to 1.0 this month then 1.7 and then 2.4.

I've got no intention of taking 2.4 or 1.7, so my plan is to use the click method to eek out the medication for as long as possible.

So I suppose my question is: do I stick to 0.5 (I'm definitely getting "hunger noise" back but I'm still eating a lot less and still losing a little) or do I go up to 0.75 or even 1 for a last run at it before using going back to 0.5 for the next few months.

SarahC50 · 27/11/2023 10:27

@TheWayOfTheWorld I'm in a similar situation, I will finally get a 1mg pen from juniper in December. I plan to do five or ten weeks at 0.75 to get to my target weight. But I too want a 1mg pen to stockpile for maintenance.

I'm planning to stay on 0.25mg for 6-12months.

If I were up I'd do a few months on 0.75mg. Who are you with ? Good luck x

Zempy · 27/11/2023 10:55

I tried going up to 0.75 but it was no different to 0.5.

I am on second week of 1mg and I feel like I did those first few weeks at 0.25. It’s like magic, totally lost my appetite.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 27/11/2023 11:14

I'm scared to jump up that much as I really suffered going up from 0.25 to 0.5. Sulphur burps, nausea, vomiting etc

Superlambaanana · 27/11/2023 18:53

@TheWayOfTheWorld if you don't mind me asking, how are you being offered the pens if you're now a healthy bmi? Ive bought from rightangled and they seem to only offer it to people with a bmi over 30. I was assuming when i lose weight it will become impossible to get hold of. Rightangled ask for a full body photo as i assume do all the other online pharmacies. I assume they check the photos date and face against id etc?

TheWayOfTheWorld · 27/11/2023 21:25

@Superlambaanana I stuck it out with Juniper (I was still losing on 0.5, so not a hard decision for me) and when they renewed my programme after the initial 6 months I was still a bit above the healthy BMI.

I had to do photos and everything, but because I'm short I'm still fairly overweight at the top end of normal BMI.

I recently got my Wegovy from Boots my BMI is 25 now but was way over 30 when I started. When I completed the consultation there was a part that asked was there any additional information I wanted to give - I filled in my history detailing how I'd titrated up from .25mgs of ozempic and the doctor agreed to prescribe it . So I think you just need to make your history clear.

Superlambaanana · 28/11/2023 23:03

@orangelotuss @TheWayOfTheWorld thanks. I haven't lost much weight yet (only started) so not actually an issue yet but I was fully expecting to be cut off at some point. Your experience is encouraging. Mind you, probably don't want to be on it forever anyway.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 07/12/2023 15:39

So I've had something quite weird happen, having stepped up to 1.5mg over the months since March, I'm now in a position where it's working too well. I've dropped back down to 1mg last week, and 0.5 this week, as I've had no appetite at all and I lost 3lbs last week.

I'm going to take a total break until January now, so I can enjoy Xmas.

2kidsintow · 07/12/2023 23:30

I've just received a new pen, but could only get a 0.5. The company I used decided it was too long between my previous order and this one, and that I must have been off it as I couldn't provide an interim order email from anywhere else proving I was still on 1mg, therefore needing to start 'again' at a lower dose. In fact, I'd just put it away in the fridge before opening it as I still had supply from a previous company, but wanted to get the next one in when it became available.

I'd gone up to a dose of 0.75mg by counting clicks due to nasty sulphur burps when I jumped to 1mg initially and hating it.

I'm going to take the last 0.75 on 11th. Drop to 0.5 on 18th in the new pen. Prob push back my Christmas day-due dose a few days then stick at 0.5 until I run out. Or split the last dose into 2 x 0.25s.

I am concerned about putting the weight back on, but I'm not losing much at all at the mo, so it's a big expense just to effortlessly maintain. I'm pretty sure I'll come back to this in the future as it's worked for me, but I fancy a break to see what new habits I've formed in the last 8 months on it.

SarahC50 · 08/12/2023 10:37

I've coasted with juniper for three/four months on 0.5 due to supply. Finally they have 1mg in stock, I'm within a healthy BMI now but still want to lose 10lbs. Got a msg from my prescriber this am that I've found really triggering. Photos from all angles including side on wearing tight workout clothes, to specifically show the stomach area. I know it's a sensitive area but I am really shook up and fecked off.

How demeaning and horrible to have to do this. My prescriber knows my weight, height and BMI I've tracked it carefully on their app since march. I question the need for such horribly revealing photos.

Has anyone else found this request unsettling,it's just unearthed lots of horrible feelings for me. I know this is a kind and supportive thread so I hope other ladies understand.

WeightWhat · 08/12/2023 19:00

I’ve had that email @SarahC50 and although I wouldn’t describe it as triggering, it is unsettling because I have had lots of success on epic and don’t want to lose my prescription.

I’m in a normal BMI now. Will they take the view that I can stay on and maintain (as the drug company recommends) or will they take the view that someone else is more deserving? Will I lose the prescription, get fat again and then have to go back on?

I don’t know but I had resigned myself to spending £225 a month for at least another year (so expensive!) and now I am worried I won’t have the option.

Twilightstarbright · 08/12/2023 20:45

@SarahC50 i felt similar. Manual then refused to prescribe it again as I’m a healthy bmi so I’m try to get it from quickmeds. In January I’m going to try reducing my dose as I’m happy with my weight.
