I was doing slimming world until last night. I was doing it since June and haven't lost a single pound since Aug.

I think it's time for change. I am starting WW on Tuesday. Any body else up for joining me.

Well I put a pound on this week which I think is really good considering the weekend I had.

AARGH. My DCs are being "challenging". This is usually where it all goes wrong

I felt so good earlier too.

lizandlulu · 26/03/2008 17:43

ria, stick with it. i have had a crappy day too. everything i have touched i have dropped, fallen over, or broken. feel very stressed out and just had a chunk of easter egg. doesnt make me feel better though.

RiaisMaLarkin · 26/03/2008 17:52

I had a plain breadstick, thinking it would be a fairly safe bet - is 11/2 points right? It wasn't even that nice. And a tescos fake mars bar, also not that nice, so that's 7 points wasted. I should be able to pull it back by having a smaller dinner though.

On the plus side I have done three walks into the village and back today, approx 10 mins each way, and the last time we probably did 15-20 mins on the way home.

I am happier with this though. It feels more manageable, and I am more comfortable with the choices (DH made me toast for breakfast this morning, "before" that would have stuffed up my whole day having bread that early, but it's fab to be able to count bread instead of cereal and know I can still have bread with my soup). I suppose different things work for different people at different times iyswim.

Sorry for long, rambling post - it's my enthusiasm running away with me!

lizandlulu · 26/03/2008 18:32

im not sure about the bread stick ,its not something i have. do you have the calculator? its really to be able to work out the points of normal 'food'.

for breakfast i have usual cheerio's, dinner had plain spaghetti with tiny amount of grated cheese, and for tea, had honey and mustard marinated chicken breast with peas and sweetcorn with ww rice pudding after.

im not sure how many points altogether, i have been a bit slack in that department

RiaisMaLarkin · 26/03/2008 19:05

sounds good enough to me lizandlulu

I have one of those slidy carboard things. I only had the damned breadstick cos I gave a bit to DS3 to suck on while I got his tea ready.

Tomorrow I WILL plan for a tea-time crisis snack

Eddas · 27/03/2008 07:47

Hi everyone, i'm now on day 2 of ww and am going to see if the core plan works for me. Will try it and see, I can always switch to points

So, has anyone got any top tips for sticking to it then? Please inspire me. I wasn't overkeen on the ww leader she was a bit. They had a lady there who was telling us her story but i'm affraid she was too dull to keep my attention

There was a lovely lady there yesterday who was joingin up too and I thought that was good we could journey together maybe, but she was weighed and was in the BMI band IYSWIM so only needs to lose a few pounds

Think i'll be there a while

I'm going to tell you all my weight.......... 11st 11lbs and my target is 10st6lbs atm. Really I guess for my height(5ft4) it ought to be less as that's right at the top of the BMI.Ah well little targets may work best

Anyway sorry for rambling

lizandlulu · 27/03/2008 08:30

eddas, i am the same height as you and weigh 16 stone 2!
when helped me was to look through some weightwatchers magazines and find someones story who was the same weight as me and looked at how they looked at goal. it juts makes me think if they can then i can.

Eddas · 27/03/2008 08:35

thanks lizandlulu, I might well go out and buy a ww mag to get some more inspiration Hope you (or anyone else)didn't mind me putting down my weight I know their are lots of people that weigh more. I just wanted to get it down on record IYSWIM.

RiaisMaLarkin · 27/03/2008 09:18

I'm too scared to put my weight down, but it's a lot. But we're all roughly on the same journey whether it's 6 stone to lose or 6lbs

I have PLANNED today and have 9 points spare for "emergencies", and that's with three decent sized meals to go at.

I love reading the magazine stories too, but I don'tknow if that will be enough long-term to keep me going, I'm just hoping once I get past the first stone bracket I'll be inspired enough to carry on.

There was a story in a mag fromlast year - the actor Ian McNiece went to his WW meeting and a woman was knitting, the leader took the knitting off her and unravelled it, the point being you put a lot of effort into achieving but it doesn't take much to undo what you've done. I think anyway!

ShortandSweet · 27/03/2008 11:02

Eddas you can't change plans day to day, you have to pick one and stick at it for the week.

OP posts:
Eddas · 27/03/2008 13:26

i know but didn;t know what core was until I went at 10am so wasn't waiting for breakfast til then. So did points just for one day. Will now do core until next weigh in and then I may change if i don't get on with it

lizandlulu · 27/03/2008 13:34

i have been doing ww for 7 weeks now and still dont understand the core plan.

ShortandSweet · 27/03/2008 13:42

The core is very much like SW. Its good but are very restricted on treats.

You are given loads of free foods and then get 21 points on top for the week. So for the 21 points it has to include your bread, sweets, alcohol etc.

You can't earn extra points for exercising.

Oh the joys of dieting

RiaisMaLarkin · 27/03/2008 13:55

I've just had tuna salad for my lunch and I'm STUFFED

Can I ask you experienced WWs - how many points in a bag of maltesers (I haven't got any so can't work it out) and which is the lowest crisps-type thing? TIA.

My sis does core plan, she lost a couple of stone I think (and then put it back again). I love this counting thing (ask me again tomorrow).

lizandlulu · 27/03/2008 15:52

i dont know about maltesers but would imagine 4 ish.

i have the boots shapers crisps. the prawn cocktail spirals are 1 point each. i can remember the others, but most of the flavours are one or one and half points a bag. and quite nice too.

ShortandSweet · 27/03/2008 16:25

The walkers baked crisps are 1.5 points and the mango chilli are delish

OP posts:
RiaisMaLarkin · 27/03/2008 21:41

thanks. I may take my point calculator shopping.

I have had a brilliant day. Sorry for being smug but I am proud of myself. I made the roasted veg pilaff our of the Nov 07 mag for tea - the DCs (and possibly DH) thought I was trying to poison them, but I enjoyed it, I had a pork loin chop with it (no fat of course) and it was tasty. Next time I will only make half the quantity though. Just back from a 20 min walk and I have points left for a glass of wine and a little bit of chocolate.

Oh happy day

(BTW, I don't manage to be this good very often

fatkatyslim · 27/03/2008 21:51

hiya just popping in to say hello,as a fellow ww i have lost 21 1/2 lbs in 12 weeks.i use this site alot to help me work out the points of things.
keep at it.weight watchers works

lizandlulu · 27/03/2008 22:01

wow fatkatyslim, that site is really good. she must have put alot of effort into working all that out! i will put into my favourites.

i have been to the gym for an hour and aqua aerobics for an hour.

just about to flop into bed!

fatkatyslim · 27/03/2008 22:03

it's really good isn't it
i also signed up for the weightwatchers talk boards.they are free and a mind of useful information and recipies to help and motivate you.
well done on the excercise by the way.you must have earned loads of bps!

RiaisMaLarkin · 28/03/2008 22:08

well done on your sterling loss FKS. Thanks for that link too - it's in my favourites now aswell.

help!!! I am knackered and am fighting off the urge to have an extra glass of wine and a bag of crisps. I have had all my points today and used 1 1/2 I had saved from yesterday. I WILL NOT give in...

If I do "slip up", if I count what I've had can I do the exercise tomorrow/save points and rectify it?

I am still loving it though - cereal & fruit juice for breakfast, tuna salad & bread for lunch, and FROZEN CURRY for tea (with naan bread). This is the best diet in the world

Though I am dreading dropping points as I lose weight - please tell me your appetite disappears with the lbs

Good luck for the weekend. I think I am planned and it should go well

fatkatyslim · 28/03/2008 22:22

if you really need the wine and crisps then have them and earn the points back tomorrow
thats the beauty of ww.it's for humans lol
good luck

RiaisMaLarkin · 29/03/2008 15:30

thanks for that fks. As it happened I had the crisps but not the wine, and re-jigged the points I had left for supper so I didn't go over.

Just finished off the veg pilaff for lunch - yum! Am going to risk frozen pizza for tea as too busy to cook...
