I was doing slimming world until last night. I was doing it since June and haven't lost a single pound since Aug.

I think it's time for change. I am starting WW on Tuesday. Any body else up for joining me.

morning all, I had a delish chinese takeaway last night. We shared lots of things and it was scrummy. I have leftovers for today too. The best thing was we had it at 6.30ish and I didn't feel the need to snack and drink all night - could this be a new diet revolution

BigHotMama · 10/04/2008 20:24

Welcome Banana!

Not sure how I managed to lose 1/2 pound tonight as been snacking on choc every day and haven't been calculating my points up. Think cutting out my bread has helped me perhaps? (Am celebrating with chips and chicken kebab from chippy)

Good luck everyone!

My top tip is to write everything down as you can see exactly how many points you arehaving and try and keep the diet varied so you dont have too much of one thing throughout the week.

Countdown to my hols is 9 weeks today and my goal is to lose another stone...arghhhhhhh!

RiaisMaLarkin · 10/04/2008 20:47

well done bhm

ShortandSweet · 10/04/2008 21:18

Well done bighotmama.

Isn't this the best diet ever, its so easy

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 11/04/2008 12:41

bighotmama, well done! bread affects alot of people like that.

its 9 weeks to my hol too! i would like to loose another stone, not sure if i can though.
i have bought a spotty tankini from next just incase the bikini looks crap

mixedmama · 11/04/2008 13:46

anyone know how many points in a small piece if swiss roll. the pack only has calories but no sat fat listed so cant work it out.

mixedmama · 11/04/2008 13:55

hey everyone.. good to see all the positiveness here.

my meeting was ok, in a large village hall so not as cosy as yours banana, but was still fine. the leader was a great guy. we have agreed to aim for a loss of 1 stone by august. was a bit disheartened the next day when i told a friend and she said that was no where near enough, but hey if i lose anymore will be a bonus. I suppose he has done it so he knows what is achieveable and i would rather have a lesser target that i can achieve than a large one and then i fail and feel disapointed.

So:

I am currently 11 stone 12
Aiming for 10 stone 12
Would prefer 10 to 10 stone 7 but that is bonus.
Longer term want to get to about 9 stone (or 8 and a half) but know that will take a long time and prepared for that.

Have done ok so far, not finding it too difficult. Having a slight issue with calculating what my portion of a family meal is but if i am unsure am rounding up a little to be sure i am not under.

Was very pleased yesterday to realise that i could have a piece of bread and choc spread for relatively little points.

Enthusiatic this week but hopefully when i go to meeting next week i will feel even more motivated by a loss.

Do you guys stay for the meeting, many of the people at mine just got weighed and left??

Also do you buy alot of the products.

mixedmama · 11/04/2008 14:00

oh and S&S that chinese list is fab have written it down

RiaisMaLarkin · 11/04/2008 14:55

Re takeaways and the like, just thought I'd link this again.

lizandlulu · 11/04/2008 15:17

hiya mixedmama, i usually always stay to meetinf if my dd is behaving as my mum babysits most of the time as dh works late. i find that i learn something new every week and do feel a bit more motivated at the end of the talk.

i dont buy too many of the products, mostly ready meals, a few bags of crisps and the bars you can get at meetings.
i had ww pizza last night for tea and it was delish, if a bit spicy.
i liek the fact that in the ww meals, there is definatly the amount of points in the meal, not a guessed amount.
i do use the calculator to figure out the points, but it is usually after i have bought the meal, so will eat it anyway.

i think it is key not to put too much pressure on yourself to loose x amount of weight. a stone in 3 months is fine, not too little at all. just think if you wasnt loosing weight, you may have put that weight on.

ShortandSweet · 11/04/2008 15:52

Mixed it took me 10mths to lose 2st so a stone in 3mths is not unrealistic. No problem regarding the chinese. I had a veggie chow mein last night which is only 4.5pts and was so yummy.

slow and steady wins the race!!!

I am determined to get back on track tomorrow as there's a lot of rubbish stuff going on for me at the moment and if i can control my eating I'm winning in one respect. Won't be shopping til later in the day so I'll be as good as I can be til then.

lizandlulu · 11/04/2008 17:49

ment to say, rice crackers with chocolate spread is lovely!

mixedmama · 11/04/2008 20:41

Well done S&S. the thing is i am keen to do it slowly anyway as i want to keep it off but dont want to be on a diet forever

Just been shopping and stocked up on everything I could possibly need to make some of the things.

Rais - that website is antastic and that lady really is an inspiriration.

RiaisMaLarkin · 11/04/2008 20:53

thanks mm - someone else posted it so I can't take the credit, but I have it in my favourites.

andyrobo237 · 12/04/2008 19:48

Hi - I am back - fell off the WW wagon due to all of the other members of this house being ill - sickness everywhere - lots of washing to do, and Febreese everywhere! Went back to class and had a gain - which was what I exected!

Had worse news on Thursday which makes things more awkward - just found out I am diabetic - so all the diet foodstuff is mainl out of the window, as the fat is replaced with sugar! Been searching the web, but need to make a list of things like beans, yoghurts, etc that I can eat - as it varies from brand to brand - so I cant have mullerlights, WW yogs, etc. I suppose one of the main advantages of a sugar free diet is that I should lose weight alot quicker (she says hopefully!!!). Got an appointment with Diabetic nurse in early May and the dietician the next day, so I am aiming for half a stone loss by then. Will keep you all posted!!

It makes it more awkward to snack as there are so many things that are now banned!!!!!!

RiaisMaLarkin · 12/04/2008 19:56

sorry to hear that andyrobo. Good to have you back though.

ShortandSweet · 13/04/2008 05:50

Andy sorry to hear that. I think maybe the best thing to do until you see your deitician is make everything yourself because then you know what is going into it.

OP posts:
lizandlulu · 13/04/2008 17:44

andyrobo, sorry to hear about that, dont worry about loosing weight till you speak to a proffesional about it. if i were you i would just aim to not put any weight on till then

did you have any symptoms then? how did you come to find out about it?

andyrobo237 · 13/04/2008 20:31

Thanks for all your messages - it all stemed from gestational diabetes with both kiddies - but it didnt really go away from DS 14 months ago. I had a blood test at the hospital 6 weeks after he ws born, and my fasting levels were over the limit, so refered to GP. When saw GP a few months later, she suggested having another set of tests done - they do this long term test that measures your average sugar levels over 90 days (very clever stuff), and this came back raised. So repeated tests after another 3 months - again raised. So referred to hospital for a test where they load you with sugar and see how your body copes. the cut off level was 10 and I was 13 - so classed as diabetic. Readup loads on diabetes website, and losing weight and exercise are the main factors - there was an article in last months WW mag about it.

Anyways, I need to lose 2 stone minimum - having already lost 1st 3 lbs - so downwards is the way to go, albeit in a slightly different manner to previously - low sugar is my plan! I am still going to class on a weds so will see what this week brings!

ShortandSweet · 14/04/2008 08:18

There is a girl at my work and her husband was diabetic, he changed his diet and is now glucose intolerent no longer considered diabetic.
