The Saxenda Sisterhood

Hi all,

As the last thread is filling up I thought I'd start a new one so we don't get lost.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4788207-im-starting-saxenda-this-week

This is the follow up from "I'm starting Saxenda this week" I'm personally journaling my way to a hopefully healthier and happier life. I'm journaling what I'm eating, the weight I'm losing (and gaining) and trying to see the positives outweigh the negatives on a daily basis. I'm joined on this thread and journey by many amazing women who are all very supportive and who are also sharing as much or as little as they like.

I'm finding I'm opening this thread instead of opening the cupboards, the fridge and the food delivery app on my phone and feeling less in my struggles and frustration and writing about my days makes me realize my life isn't all bad.

I'm thankful for all the voices in this thread and feel supported by the sisterhood of women from all over facing the same body struggles as I am.

I post some pictures and photos and I really like it when others do too.

If you're new please join us if you want to and let us know how you're getting on with your Saxenda journey. Come here for compliments when you deserve them and commiseration when you need some. You're welcome whatever your age, wherever you are and if you have 1kg or 10 stone to loose.

I've been on Saxenda for 10 weeks and lost 9.2kg (1st 6.2lbs) so far. I started at over 96kg and am now 87 and a bit. I have at least another 20kg to go to be happy with how I look - but knowing that the Saxenda sisterhood is here makes the journey seem less intimidating.

Well, I'm really, really, really fucking cross. Just travelled a 2 the round trip to collect my sax from boots from a "priority store". Prescription all confirmed on boots. Boots pharmacy not only don't have it, but don't even have a record of my px being sent there. They claim others have had the same issue and they don't know why they are listed as a priority store as they don't get stock.
I've got 1 pen left. And I'm on 2.1. So.... brilliant.
I'm so pissed off. I'm already stressed with an impending house move on weds (exchange and completion same day which is just super fucking stressful in itself). I haven't time to waste fannying about on 2 hr trips for feck all. I am going to drive home now, past all the fast food, costas, take aways... and fucking resist. I will not give in!!!!

Hi everyone, been away for a while and I've lapsed with using my Sax. Got tired of the nausea and constipation but my appetite has increased as has my alcohol intake. The sax definitely works but it makes me feel flat, that's the only way I can describe it.

I've got one more pen sitting in the fridge, just logged into Boots online doctor and it's not looking good. They are out of stock. What's everyone else doing? Have you found a new supplier?

So I called Boots regarding what has happened with my sax. Just before I did I went on to see if any stock in as it is Monday after all... lo and behold... they are supplying wegovy to existing sax patients!
Now, I don't want to switch, so I'm waiting til this afternoon to see if sax stocks update. That's what they suggested on the phone also. They also don't know what dose to chose of wegovy. Plus it is far more expensive particulalry the lower doses. It costs £50 a month on 0.6 of sax, where as wegovy is £179 for the same duration!

So sax is now updated, but my nearest stores with stock are 2 hours away, and with moving house this week I don't see how I'm going to add a 4 hr round trip in (especially if they don't have it like this week!!).
I just don't know what to do 😭.

BeagleMum1 · 04/09/2023 16:02

Looks like I'm switching to Wegovy!

BeagleMum1 · 04/09/2023 16:03

One injection per week is more convenient for me. Let's see how it goes

BeagleMum1 · 04/09/2023 16:11

Can I still be part of this group though? I don't want to go it alone! 😯

Saxendastarter · 04/09/2023 16:31

@BeagleMum1 of course you've got to stay!

Hi All

Not posted for a couple of weeks as I've been really struggling. After hitting a plateau the chatter and sweet cravings came back and weight went on again. I've been on 3.0 for a few weeks now, no further loss just some gains and am 1.6kg heavier than my lowest weight since starting on sax. Am on my last pen, Boots owe me two pens that were ordered to a priority store but not fulfilled so am after a refund now (need every penny, these pens have been going on my credit card all summer and I've yet to start paying the balance off). I had decided that since Boots couldnt get any more stock and I haven't really responded much to sax it is probably time for me to stop - am therefore delighted to find a message in my inbox this evening that I might be able to order wegovy instead.
Going to try to move over to wegovy (wish me luck) but will probably continue to lurk here as you're a really great group and I love OPs updates.

Thanks all, am trying to keep hope that I will continue to shift this weight.

I have been to my dietician this afternoon and despite thinking I had done very badly, I have taken another 1.3 kilos off in the last month. It was reassuring, that's 5 kilos since I first enquired with my doctor about Saxander in April.

*TEN DAYS UNTIL I AM GIVEN THE PRESCRIPTION FROM THE ENDOCRINOLOGIST.
*
Finally. Finally. Finally!!!

Am starting to get really excited.

Breakfast: cornichons and a boiled egg
Lunch: beef patty, salad and mashed potatoes
Dinner: beef adobo, avocado, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes.

Have promised that I will use the exercise bike from now on when I am watching eastenders...

Side note: I asked the dietician about drinks that I can have as a treat at a party (for example) as I have given up Coke Zero . Her reply...

That is not a treat in my eyes. Goddamnit.

Saxendastarter · 05/09/2023 20:11

Oooh @justsaxy do you have a lidl nearby ? For some reason the own brand krautertee tastes a tiny bit like coca cola if its cold ....

KatGirl007 · 05/09/2023 21:32

Breakfast - 1 slice of Dave Seed Bread toasted, Just Nuts Peanut Butter
Lunch - 2 tblspns of Hummus, 6 unsalted crackers
Dinner - 1 glass of Red Wine, Chicken thigh on spring mix salad, honey mustard dressing

Hi everyone! Make sure that you are taking measurements because I did not lose in Week 3 but lost inches on my waist, hips and chest.

Remember when the scale doesn't move, the body does start shifting around and releasing that fat. I can see it in the mirror. So far I am at the end of Week 4 and see a one pound loss.

Couldn’t get Saxenda from AsdaDoc again this week (thanks for the tips) but ordered Wegovy at 10am with no problem.

pricey but fingers crossed it’s worth it 🤞

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 06/09/2023 10:45

Morning all
Had a wonderful surprise to come home to from someone who is definitely spreading good in the world ( 🥰 you know who you are ) which put me in a fab mood after a pretty rubbish day at work. New job is all over the place, lots of politics and mixed messages and I miss the comfort of my old job where I knew absolutely everything.
It's been a good summer but I'm looking forward to settling into the new routine now, no more parties and family gatherings with too much cake!
New long commute, stressful job and busy home life is not exactly a recipe for successful weightloss, so am really hoping wegovy will keep me going. Boots Online doctor asked me how many saxenda doses I have left as part of my wegovy order (only 3) so am just waiting to hear back from them.
My garden is producing courgettes like crazy at the moment so am going heavy on the veg and less on the carbs for lunches and dinners. Any recipe suggestions welcome!

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 06/09/2023 11:16

Oh and checked my measurements this morning to help keep me focused:

SW: 98.2 (June 2023)
CW: 95 6 (Sep 2023)
Time on saxenda: 11 weeks
Weight lost to date: 2.6kg
GW1: 92kg

Starting measurements:
Waist - 40in
Hips - 48in
Under bust - 38in

Current measurements:
Waist - 40in (peri belly is such a joy)
Hips - 46in
Under bust - 37in

So less than 3kg lost in 11 weeks but 2 inches off my hips and an inch lost under bust. Onwards and downwards!

Saxendastarter · 06/09/2023 12:00

Day 9 ( yesterday*)

Lunch
Water
Quiche
Abricot tarte
Oasis

Supper
Loads of bread and butter

Hi OP

What kind of quiche did you have yesterday? I'm always after new food inspiration. I would eat a lot more bread if I could afford the loaves from our local bakery (love love love their bread but the proces are pretty exclusive).

I'm going to try including carrot salad with my breakfast (grated carrot with apple cider vinegar) as a way to introduce vegetables to my first meal of the day as I cant always find the time for mushrooms or shakshuka.
My wegovy order has just been approved - going straight on to 1mg (third dose, usually started in week 9) so long as they can get it to me this week as cant have more than a 3 day gap from saxenda before dropping to the 0.25 wegovy starting dose. Feeling a little apprehensive about side effects but optimistic that it will work for me.
