The next 7lbs

ICanDoIt23 · 21/06/2023 17:23

Stepped on the scales today and for the first time in years it started with a 10! Woo hoo! Only by the smallest margin my scales measure, but it’s something 🙂

So, time to get serious about the next 7lbs. 10st 7 was my ‘normal’ for many years and I would be very happy to get back to that, it will be a major milestone. After that, who knows? It would be ‘slim for me’ territory, and I’m starting to believe it might be possible, but one step at a time…

Anyone coming along for the journey?

Day 1: 10st 13.75lbs 😄

Ah go on then! I am 15 st 5.5
I am going to lose the first 7lb … and then repeat many times over !

Do you have a plan for how you’re going about it?

ICanDoIt23 · 21/06/2023 21:21

Hello Beast! I am taking it very slowly. I have lost a stone since Christmas by getting on top of sugar spikes and cravings. It has generally involved far fewer biscuits and much more salad. Pretty basic but it seems to be working!

Well done on your loss so far, that sounds really measured and sensible.

I started off 10 stone overweight and have had many ups and downs. What works for me is using MyFitnessPal consistently and planning what I will eat in advance when I’m not hungry.

It’s definitely salad weather at the moment and I’m too tired and busy to cook anyway! I had an Asian style salad with tofu for lunch and a green salad with avocado and vegan quiche for dinner. Both delicious. Another quiche is going straight onto next week’s shop!

ICanDoIt23 · 24/06/2023 08:10

Well done to you too!

I need to go back to the Leon book of salads I bought then never did anything with because every recipe had about three ingredients I had never heard of…

I have found the last 7 lbs I lost earlier in the year when I upped my activity. So I'll jump on board.

I have the sweetest teeth. Chocolate has been my go-to therapist but the bar I like is £3.25 now so I had expected the weight to have just disappeared. I was wrong!

I have got my step target 'rings' everyday for 5 days in a row now which is a first this year. I would be really pleased to keep that up for 21 days so I am here with you both.

blue23blue · 24/06/2023 08:48

I'd love to join, holiday in 4 weeks so a half a stone would make such a difference. I eat far too much sweet stuff and I'm trying hard to reduce it.

BeastOfBODMAS · 24/06/2023 10:16

Welcome both of you!
@VentBox I am with you on chocolate, luckily because I don’t eat dairy, DH’s stash is safe and I’d have to shift my arse to Holland & Barratt.
For a treat now I go to the greengrocers and pick the most inviting looking thing. Yesterday was strawberries so dark red they looked like they’d been ripened on a tanning bed.
Somehow a single perfectly ripe peach is a treat in a way a whole punnet of cheap wonky half ripe ones in the Tesco delivery isn’t!

ICanDoIt23 · 24/06/2023 14:31

I love that @BeastOfBODMAS! Since I have knocked a severe sugar habit on the head I have been able to taste and appreciate fruit so much more.

Welcome @VentBox and @blue23blue 😊

I'll join, I just want half a stone off too in the next month or so. What's everyone's plans to shift it? I get good results from just tracking on MFP, filling up on protein, and my usual high volume of exercise. But I just cannot reduce calories at the minute, and won't even open MFP, so I need some motivation

allthelinterdit · 26/06/2023 21:53

What's everyone's starting weights? I'm 10st but I look better under 9st 7

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 26/06/2023 21:58

I am in! Will weigh the n morning and report back!

Abc123ab · 26/06/2023 22:04

I’m in! I am currently 11st 8 pound (4 months post partum) and oddly enough 10st 7 was also my normal for a long time. Right now I’ll just be happy enough to get back down to something starting with a 10.

Started a 1500 cal a day meal plan this week, can confirm that this dish for dinner this eve was bloody lovely, even if I am a touch hungry going to bed 😂 - https://www.eatingwell.com/recipe/274851/sheet-pan-chicken-fajita-bowls/

If you surf that site for the plan, then I can also confirm that the banana oat cups are alright, and filling, but you can tell they’re diet food 😅

Sheet-Pan Chicken Fajita Bowls

This recipe can fit into your weekly dinner plans if you follow a Mediterranean diet meal plan or a Dash Diet meal plan. But it's delicious any time.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 27/06/2023 05:59

Right, got weighed in my pants and after a wee 😂
starting weight 10' 1.
I'm only 5'2 so 9'7 would be a lovely start!

RedNosedReindeer · 27/06/2023 06:06

I’ve been at my most heaviest, just under 12 stones. I really want to post at least get to 10 stones by the end of August. Not sure if it’s doable because I get so tired after work. It used to be so easy to lose weight just by cutting sugary snacks and reducing carbs but now somehow the weight crept up with the constant pies and freezer meals because of being tired after work.

RedNosedReindeer · 27/06/2023 06:07

Oh I am 5ft 4.5 so I know that I’m overweight.

BeastOfBODMAS · 27/06/2023 10:00

@RedNosedReindeer oh I love a pie, had pie and champagne for dinner last night to celebrate hideous neighbours moving out. 1650 calories well spent Grin

allthelinterdit · 27/06/2023 23:18

How's everyone doing??

Pies are my nemesis Blush I could be full and I’d still want pie. My username should just be PieFace 😅. Hopefully the new neighbours moving in are so much better Grin

ICanDoIt23 · 28/06/2023 10:40

Week 1 weigh in: 10st 13.75lbs - exactly the same! Not the best start 😆 oh well, onwards and downwards…

allthelinterdit · 28/06/2023 12:29

At least it isn't a gain!

ICanDoIt23 · 28/06/2023 15:28

This is true. Time to take it a bit more seriously though.

blue23blue · 29/06/2023 17:55

Lost 2lb this week 🎉🎉🎉 delighted! Been tracking my calories on my fitness pal and going to bed/upstairs to avoid the fridge. Also told friends in work not to tempt me with home made cakes etc 😂

allthelinterdit · 29/06/2023 18:59

Well done @blue23blue!
What's everybody been eating for lunch? I keep relying on soup whilst at work but I'm starving by evening

blue23blue · 30/06/2023 06:55

For lunch I usually have crackers and cheese spread, ham wrap or soup and a couple of pieces of fruit.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/06/2023 07:07

I’ll join you! I was 12.1 (170lb) at the start of the year and I’ve upped and downed all year… last week I got myself in a right funk about it, as I was back to 160, (11.6) so I slashed the carbs this week and yesterday I was 153.3 (10.13.3!!) I turn 40 in 2 and a half weeks so I am really determined to keep going. Of course now I am scared to weigh myself because I am so close to the stone boundary that the slightest thing will tip me back over.

this week I’ve really focussed on getting the carbs lower, it’s hard. It destroys my running as well because I have no fuel and I’m not fat adapted properly yet so I have been running but it’s not been nice. And I’m sort of dreading the weekend as it’s so easy to go crazy and undo all my work
